    Its crazy but it is already time to change the oil in the gmc denali. I also wanted to delete the dod at the same time. In this video I cover how to change the oil in your gmc yukon denali 6.2L V8. This process will be the same in a 5.3L V8 Chevy tahoe, chevy silverado, gmc sierra and gmc yukon. I also show you how to use hp tuners to delete or remove dod or displacement on demand. I am not fan of the active fuel management in the gm line up. Removing the active fuel management or dod generally will prolong the life of the lifters and engine. I think the dod delete should be one of the first things you do on a Tahoe or Denali. Both the oil change and the dod delete are easy to do and hopefully this video helps you complete these projects.

    2 years We bought or 2017 Tahoe with 114k miles on it. We put 22k miles on it. I was towing a few different cargo trailers three times a month one of those was over a grade and through 100 miles of turns in the mountains. Using tow mode. Just like everyone has reported. We had the failure of the torque converter, that breaks apart and since the trans pump is right behind the converter, all the metal gets pumped through the tranny. Destroyed. Cost me 7k at the dealer. Got a warranty now though. But while at the dealer, I had them tell me what the think about the ticking noise coming from the drivers side engine. They call me back saying it’s definitely the sound of the dreaded lifter failure. Since it’s such a long process to replace the lifters and they know that if a lifter goes bad then obviously you are changing the cam too. They said 11k for a new engine. Complete garbage. I bought 3k in parts and have it apart in my garage right now. Just got to the lifter. It’s the non DOD lifter in cylinder 3. Scanner said misfiring # 3 so that checks out. But it wasn’t even a dod lifter. These engines are junk and definitely are not for the even average towing. If you have one of these, sell it while you can and buy a Toyota

    2012 Denali here. Unfortunately, I was too late on deactivating the AFM and ended up with a seized lifter. I had plans, since buying it, to manually delete the AFM system just hadn’t put the funds together yet. Well, the 6.2L forced my hand. Love my MPVI2, I started having issues with my MPVI1 on newer vehicles for some reason. I'm sure it got dropped one to many times. Can't wait to start Tuning on my Gen2 LT1 T/A once my 24x system is installed. If the damn kit ever comes off back order for crying out loud.
    And yeah, the newer stuff is ridiculously expensive credit wise. Friends wonder why I charge so much even though the only thing I charge them for are the credits for the license. And no matter how many times I explain it to them they don't comprehend it. I just flat tell them I'm not making a cent off them. I really don't tune enough on other peoples stuff that would require me to buy anything other then a specific vehicle license key. Got the LT1 out of the car and on the stand. Top of my strut nuts on one side are rusted to shit so I think I'm going to buy a new set as well. Clutch also has some severe hot spots, surprised it never slipped but Ill be buying a new clutch as well. Maybe Spec Stg 3+ not sure yet.

  • @Mr6384

    Ok, so I traded in my 22 Silverado and bought an 18 Sierra. One reason was the money savings! One other reason was the 22 (from what I was told) had 17 different engine cylinder/transmission modes. I towed a 1978 Thunderbird from California to Northeastern Tennessee with that truck and with the louder exhaust it was easy to tell when the cylinders were cutting out.
    I’m curious about my 18 with 38000 miles and whether or not to deactivate all of this. A week ago I noticed what I thought was a torque converter chatter. I could feel (and see on the tach) the tc clutching and releasing. I bought a 100,000 no time limit warranty on this truck and was ready to drop it at the dealer when my mechanic came by the house. He said that he didn’t believe it was the tc at all. Sure enough a quick scan showed misfire. So he replaced all the plugs and two coil packs.
    It’s much better but one more coil needs replaced. He is trying to talk me into disabling the DOD/AFM and canceling my warranty. I’m a 60 year old and would like this to be my last truck.
    Maybe you can shed some light?

    • @TWAMotorsports
      @TWAMotorsports  Před 6 měsíci +1

    Nice video. From experience, there is no point waiting to check oil level. Start for 30 seconds and wait 10 minutes just like every other vehicle. I don’t imagine anywhere you would go to have this done for you will do anything else, so it’s a good thing waiting makes no difference. IMHO you are tightening your oil filter too much. 1/2 to 3/4 turn only. If you overdo it and leave that filter on there for more then 6 months it is more prone to leaking if it’s too tight. Kind of counterintuitive but this is a fact.

    These engines arent designed for them and the tolerances are the same. I'm running 10w-30 in my 2021 escalade already. Gets hot here in Texas and the Corvette and the trucks although have different engines and engine codes actually have the same bearing clearances and the Corvette uses 0w-40. I'm running 10w-30 in my escalade a month ago. Put 1900 miles in a half year since Oct on the factory fill and changed it with a fram ultra as well. Stop using that overly thin oil. If I haven't had a check engine light I highly highly doubt you'll ever get it. These engines arent as tight as you believe. A 0w-20 at 60f is around 3-4x thicker than 20w-50 at 212f. Engine wear occurs on startup not warm up. Engine is dry at startup for a few seconds. Once it's lubed up the engine is nice and quiet until it gets hot. Hot oil is extremely thin because of fuel economy. Makes the engine unhealthily rattly. Ford switched their 5.0 in 2021 to 5w-30 because the 20 weight was causing wear especially in the phasers already in new current gen expeditions and few years old f150's
