27 minutes of history and lore having more depth than the whole seasons of 7 and 8. Loved the blackfyre bit. The animations were very well done
Sam Stark sad but true! I think a HBO and the production team (outside of D&D) use these behind the scenes explainers to make sense of the garbage writing, plot holes, contradictions, and omissions of the actual show. Too bad the people making this histories and lore series didn’t do the actual show.
BTW - Varys was made better use of as a voice over actor here than as his actual self in season 8. What a waste of a great character. And he was just one of many left utterly destroyed by the arrogance and haste of D&D.
I hope they do more History and Lore Videos for the New House of the Dragon Prequel Series coming out hopefully in Next Year

Why do you think is HBO and martin, not d&d, when martin wanted more time and effort, HBO wanted way more seasons, but d&d did not? D&d admitted they just wanted to rush a ending to work on star wars
So by the showrunners Euron lost deliberately to Stannis , loosing most of their ships, just so he could enact his plan of finger banging Cersei, glad they are consistent in crap writing at least.

well they've done so much already it's basically an audio book of TWOIAF
they could have had the survivors sum up what happened to their families in the series; Arya and Sansa - Starks, Gendry - Baratheons, Tyrion - Lannisters, Jon - Targaryen, Yara - Greyjoys, The Hound could have done one on kinslaying, Jorah could have done one on the weather and it still would have sounded awesome

so maegar the cruel faced a religious uprising, the people even attacked the dragons. cersei faced absolute zero backlash for blowing up sept, killing her uncle, driving her son to suicide and wiping out the tyrells. interesting

What little is here is nice enough. But I'd hoped that we would get at least an hour with this season. And that is what I get for being hopeful for anything related to season 8 of GOT.

Trey De Blasio In the books he did, this is the HBO version. Disappointing non the less, I liked Victarion in the books, beast of a man. Wish they’d included him in the show.

Is this all of it? The histories & lores are usually over an hour long! Thank you all the same for posting it but what are they thinking! History & lore is better than the actual show sometimes. And most of this has already been covered in other histories & lore
In the end, all this side material/short videos about the history & lore of GOT’s world was superior to any of the regular season episodes.
Anything that prompts us to employ our own imagination always is.

and his goal the whole time as he states here was to kill Cersei and take the iron throne for himself.
I think its more likely a self serving excuse he made for his losses...better to be thought of as a traitor than a loser.

It's just the show runner ruining Stannis more, they're diminishing his achievements at every opportunity.

and then we're expected to think it is impressive that he beat Ironborn and Wildlings. like, no shit, people have been doing that for thousands of years! it's been a long ass fucking time since the ironborn did anything impressive in battle. their whole culture is admitting that they cant win head to head and so have to raid weaker people and steal their shit.
the only battles they should ever win are hit and run quick raids with their longships.
@@godemperorofmankind3.091 House Valeryon seemed to be not note within the history of Westeros past the dance of dragons in which their power declined. While your right that it is no big achievement to beat what ammounted to petty raiders. It is also pretty much noted that Stannis was specifcally placed in charge of dealing with the iron fleet and the fact he crushed them is something that stained the Greyjoys till present in the books.
My other problem is that they play this off as if Euron was some smartass when the source material points out that he was all for the rebellion, plus since they cut out Victarion Greyjoy (who was in the battle where the iron fleet was crushed) they have to simply place the acts of burning on Euron (though it was his plan, Victarion did it).

Varys narrating the Blackfyre is significant considering how the books are building up Varys’ Blackfyre Conspiracy with Aegon “Young Griff” Targaryen (Blackfyre).
I am glad they brought to attention the Defiance of Duskendale. What I like about the Mad King was that there wasn't one thing that lead to his madness, there were several things that put together made him dangerously unstable and clinging to a threat. Duskendale was the breaking point.

Is it true that the people named King’s Landing as such to lure Aegon to making it his permanent home? I thought that was always Aegons plan AND that he named it?
As far as I remember, the townsfolk started calling the Aegonfort King's Landing because that's where he landed. I think Aegon's intention was always to erect a capital of his own.

Welp, I guess that's it. Goodbye, Game of Thrones. Can't wait for HBO to reboot this series in 10-15 years from now. Hopefully, the next incarnation of this show will have a more satisfying conclusion than its predecessor.

It wasn't, Duskendale just increased his madness... Endogamic madness is something that gets worse year after year( and Daenerys has not the symptoms)

Eh, I've seen better history and lore from seasons 1 thru 6. I think my favorite one was the season that featured the back story of the iron bank, and children of the forest.
In my opinion, the Blackfyres was the best, and the South the worst.
you could write a book on maegor alone.

This is TOO SHORT!!! But I blame the fairweather fans that trashed the show. These videos were added bonuses and gifts to us. And these cry babies, ungrateful a-holes, insulted the very people that were giving us this Gift. So we all got robbed of a real history and lore for season 8. I can't blame them. After all that... I wouldn't feel inspired or motivated to give anything more
