Who will be the next manager at Tottenham? The fans debate the candidates from Nagelsmann to Kompany.
Then the attention turns to their London rivals Chelsea as the fans discuss if Pochettino will be a good fit. Gary and Jamie breakdown the ownership situation at Manchester United and Liverpool.
Then focus turns to the relegation battle. Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, and the fans take a look at the clubs fighting to survive.

Can we have an Overlap where other teams actually get a look in. Brighton and Newcastle having incredible seasons and get about 2 minutes between them
There's been loads of Newcastle chat in past episodes.
As a mag I’m loving the fact that we’re flying under the radar, let them spout on about the so called big six, blah blah blah all they want, what I want is points on the board, that’s what counts !
There's been plenty but obviously, bigger teams will get more airtime. Newcastle have had loads of time btw.
I think next season is a big one for Newcastle. This season has been amazing, no doubt. But there is only one place they should be looking at. Top!
They can’t drop down to mid table, even out of the top four will be seen as a fail. Maybe not by the fan base, but as ambition for the club. At least top four has to be their minimum place now for next year. I’m a Liverpool fan, but they’ve always been the second result I look for. So it’s going to be another exciting season.
Don't forget villa
As usual midlands clubs dont get mentioned. Aston villa story has been remarkable since emery came in. Also wolves where bottom and new manager pulled them away
I tell you what, villa have surprised just about everyone and came up like a stealth bomber, wasn’t happy about our result ( toon ) against you but it’s good to see some of the big old clubs coming back into the fray.

I actually agree with Gary that Chelsea do need a longer-term manager. Since 16/17 we've been a cup team and I think the PL level is so high now, that you can't keep changing managers and compete for a league. Every team that has seriously competed for a league in the last 5 years or so has been the product of a manager building their own team over time. We might be 11th but we're not actually that far off being a competitive team again.

the biggest issue with chelsea is the size of the squad, once that is cut down chelsea will look alot better. The players are still effectively strangers to one another and wholesale changes take time to see results

That's certainly 1 of the problems but not the only one. Chelsea are still missing key positions in the squad and the team can't function properly. Theres no striker to score goals and no DM to protect the back 4 and start the attack. Theyve got the same problem everton had a few years back when they had like four 10s. Not having a goal scorer was papered over because the defense was so strong but that defense can't produce clean sheets every week.

Biggest downside of the overlap is its called a fan debate, yet its always the same few people every single time. Fans of other clubs exist. There's only so much you can talk about the top 6 clubs before you just repeat yourself over and over.
Also, fans of other clubs would have the respect to let each other talk, this is just a bunch of twats shouting over each other just because someone said a naughty thing about their team.
Doesn't help that most of these 'fans' are also 'content creators' who rely on outrage content and clickbait appearances to fund their hobby..
They only want people on that won't cause controversy and ask hard questions that Neville will not answer i think Carragher is more open and i agree always same people and most of them are yes people

They invite people from fan channels when a) they exist, and b) the ppl want to come. If you want your clubs to be talked about more, create the fan media to send to these things. True Geordie, presumably, couldn't be bothered to come, so for Newcastle we get a nice enough lass who speaks only when she's asked summat. Baz from Everton, otoh, spoke up when he had something to say because he runs a fan channel.
I'm a United fan and I was a very short term subscriber to McKola, but I will never visit his channel again. I find the Everton fan to be the best of them on the Overlap.

If we (Leeds) stay up, it will be a miracle. City, Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs in our last 4 games, playing how we have played this season I just can't see us getting much, if anything from those games.

Really disappointing that I'm 3 parts in and have essentially only heard about a title race that everybody agrees is over and a few of the big teams who are playing for nothing.
Discuss the ownership and new managers in the off season and give some air time to Brentford, Brighton, Newcastle, Villa and Fulham who are having great seasons and deserve to be spoken about.
Sky Sports are the gatekeepers for the traditional top 6.
Newcastle having our best season in decades, destroying spurs, Man Utd, West Ham, Everton. To be fair, they could do with a more talkative/combative representative on the show, to cause a back and forth, maybe ask Jamie and Gary a couple questions etc. The Brighton lad is a prime example. I suppose Brighton in themselves are more a talking point anyway because they’re doing so well with less investment.
Most of the talking points on the show are also about clubs that have something that’s going badly.
NewCastle are doing an amazing job and should be in Champions League next Season. Whats most impressive is that the owners have spent wisely on players that fit into & help their team. They haven't done what everyone expected which was to spend large amounts of money on players and/or players with bigger name recognition then performance on the field. Continue to spend wisely and build a stronger team with depth can work. And they have the resources to buy that one player for 100 million whenever the time comes. Your in good position to keep getting better in next few years!

Pochettino is such a good manager. I'm a Liverpool fan and I'd love to see him back in the Premier League, just not at Chelsea. Go back to Tottenham, you'll be loved again. At Chelsea he probably fancies himself to turn it around and rightly so. I just wonder if the fans will take to him. Benitez went there and won the Europa League and people hated him. It's a difficult situation above but I think he has the aptitude t handle it, in addition to the experience. He's a perfect fit for what Chelsea need now but will the fans take to him? Like Carragher says, Chelsea fans are used to being ruthless and sacking managers after a couple of years. Chelsea might struggle to get into the top 4 next season, will they be patient if they finish 5th or 6th?
Benitez had run Chelsea down as a Liverpool manager. He was very anti chelsea. That's why he didn't get accepted. We had Glenn hoddle who is spurs through and through and he struggled but kick started a philosophy and to be honest like a revolution at chelsea. Why is Carragher lying about FSG's investment? They've invested ZERO in the club. The training ground and stadium improvements are being paid for with club revenues. NOT by FSG. They could easily facilitate a £250million loan for squad rebuilding, but they flat out refuse to do it.

With respect, Adam from Stretford Paddock is badly misinformed on the ownership issue, and seems to be presenting the issue as if it's Qatar or nothing, because the SJR info on the bid was painted as "he wants to keep the Glazers, so he must be bad" instead of "he's trying to be flexible and not cave to a ridiculous asking price". Missed an opportunity for a serious discussion about the pros and cons of both bids.
Neville is great, but he makes these bold predictions about Liverpool every few years that end up being a million miles wide of the mark. Prior to Liverpool winning the champions league and PL, he predicted United would win them before Liverpool 😂
I’m a Utd fan and I agree. Not sure where he gets the similarities between glazers and FSG from at all. The only thing I see in common is their nationality.

Lol people are letting Chelsea’s shit season overshadow what an amazing team they have made. They might have spent 600mil but the only players who have flopped are players bought when Tuchel was manager with too much on his plate and Chelsea didn’t have a sporting director. The others are all either gonna turn profit or become valuable starters. This season was an absolute disgrace but if Poch can actually get something out of this plethora of young players then Chelsea have absolutely nothing to worry about

What gary was saying about infrastructure is bang on, its not just about spending on players that builds success. Fsg , glazers and the like are all quick buck types compared to city . Share fund investment is fickle as luck
As a Spurs fan, it’s great hearing a discussion about our club, but I do think there should have been more discussion about Villa, Newcastle etc.
On Spurs specifically, I agree with a lot of what Carragher is saying and a bit of what Neville is saying too, but I think what I want on an actual football perspective is, if he keeps proving it to the end of the season, Mason as manager being given a bit of time to build, or a manager from Germany or the Netherlands (or somewhere, but I just like those styles of football) but also given a bit of time to build something. Jose was never going to work, and I thought the same about Conte until he changed my mind a bit in the 2nd half of last season, but then got stubborn this season.

Some scoffed and said Howe was a stopgap manager who couldn't coach a defence. Some pundits were writing the obituary of Brighton when they lost Potter and his staff and appointed a relative unknown. Villa were a laughing stock after spending big and having the golden boy Gerrard run the club into the relegation places and look where they are all now - threatening to break up the corrupt big 6 cartel

If a team doesn't get bantered to death for being in a relegation battle, they won't be praised so highly when they are doing OK. Brighton, villa and Newcastle will not win anything this season. Other clubs get bantered for not winning a trophy in a season.

I think what will save Forest is the teams around us. Everton look defeated. Leeds look defeated. Forest are still fighting. The fans, Manager, owner, everybody is United and these big teams coming to the City Ground are in for some tough games
Liverpool just like united have owners who no longer can’t compete. When they were successful money was distributed between a few clubs. Unless Liverpool replace the midfield and buy a quality centre back a right back to give Trent competition next season will be a struggle. Will we keep hold of salah if next season regardless of how well we play?
It’s incredible how few of fans appreciate or understand the management of their club. A club is a business. To manage it so that it’s financially successful is a huge accomplishment by a team of many people employed by the club and fans really don’t appreciate that enough. Yes, everyone wants their club to be successful on the pitch, but the club will cease to exist if it’s not managed well.
There are no clubs in the premier league (correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t believe I am) that are run on a profit, and ultimately the best way to increase revenue is being successful on the pitch. This doesn’t mean you have to throw money at it, just look at Brighton/Brentford. The right people in charge caring about the teams success can create success in spite of a budget. For teams like United, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool to an extent who have all complained about owners, it can be resolved by simply putting the time in to put the right people in the right places to run the club. That will bring success (or relative success depending how you view it) in turn increasing revenue/profitability.
Born and raised in Manchester for 20 years, now have spent 41 years in California. From this perspective and distance, I find it unconscionable that fans think they "own" teams, or can tell them what they must do. Business 101, you do not own a company unless you do. If the company is a public company and you choose to buy shares then, yes, you can vote at the annual meeting. Thats it. If you do not like how Ford is run, dont run over to Hailwood and scream at them. If you dont like your corn flakes do not run into Trafford Park and whine at the ownership. Buy shares, vote. That is it. Dont try to act like you "own " something you buy a ticket to see or watch on tv. Big gaffs here at the people who think they can tell a business how to run itself. The Overlap is a great format but it's infuriating how much time pump through repeating the same things about the issues of Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd etc. Meanwhile some of the most interesting stories of the season Newcastle, Brighton, Villa's resurgence amongst others, get little to no time at all.

What can they really say though?? They're doing great and look to be growing organicly, there's no real issues or speculation to talk about.
Aston Villa flying and can't get a shout. Brighton and Newcastle get mini segments. Chelsea are irrelevant this season and get their own talking block. These lot act like they're anti-Super League but they actually propagate that type of thinking by the way they cover the league.
Im a toon fan so us getting mentioned is by the by but the lack of appreciation for teams like Villa and Brighton with alot of these pundits is comical.
Teams that have created a solid together mentality, that graft their arses off for each other. Ill call out a few players i feel need a massive amount of credit this season.
Villa - Watkins, McGinn, Mings, Ramsey even Ashley Young. Totally different players this season.
Brighton - obviously Mitoma, March, Wellbeck (biggest suprise for me), Estupinan, Ferguson and Mac Allister.
