    Zola is an extremely underrated player historically. Was unfortunate he left before the money arrived, or he'd be talked about with the same love as number 10s like Bergkamp and Cantona. Would be absolute magic in the Firminio role in todays game.

      @Josh G as far as whole careers go sure but you can't throw players who had a couple good years in an all time XI. Because then if they don't replicate those performances that taints the legacy. If someone comes to the Prem, breaks the goal record then leaves they'll have a better legacy than someone that comes to the Prem breaks the record then doesn't play to that level again. Suarez benefits from that bias. He didn't achieve nearly enough in the Premier League to be considered for an all time XI. Drogba would be my choice for striker.

Stats aside he played with a young sterling/countinho/hendo, a Gerrard past his prime, an amazing Sturridge that was out for 1/4 the season and a mediocre backline, and our depth was so awful we relied on victor moses and joe Allen to change the game. Especially considering that although he was shaky for the first year or two after it occurred, he recovered and became the best in the world again. Ivanovic was excellent but his longevity doesn’t out shine Trents overall ability. Carvalho was excellent, underrated and made Terry world class by covering up for what Terry lacked, but you can’t leave out Terry and VVD. Cole and Robertson are world class but Cole has more years under his belt. Kante also has more years at the top than Fabinho. • @Anonymous-xr8hx
      @Anonymous-xr8hx Před rokem +1

      @Faqih Abdurrahman people like you need people like us to put 'big games that will trophies' into context for you because its not as easy as just looking up their stats and thinking the one with better stats was the better player. So many people who weren't around to watch them play inform themselves in this was and it leads to disrespect on so many players. I can't give you stats but I can try and explain it to you.
      Before Drogba and Mourinho most teams in the PL played with 2 strikers. Then they came and Drogba did everything himself. He was the focal point of Chelsea's attack. His holdup play, awareness and ability to bring his teammates into play was unbelievable. Its about the technical aspects of the game. The keeper or defence could kick it up the pitch and Drogba's first touch and control was just perfect. He did it all by himself and that allowed Mourinho to pack the midfield so it was 3 against 2 most games. All these things Drogba did helped them win games. And that's all football is about. It's not about boosting your own stats and waiting for tap ins. It's about getting results and winning trophies. And the things he did made Chelsea really hard to beat for years. He didn't need to score as Man as other strikers because he was doing so much in the buildup to goals. Making runs, occupying both CBs and creating space for teammates etc.
      To add to it all when his team really needed a goal, he was the one that always scored. It wasn't luck because he did it for years. He scored in like 10 different cup finals (one of them obviously being at the end of the Champions League final in 2012). And he was constantly scoring in the big Premier League games (ask any Arsenal fan that was around at the time seriously). And in that 09/10 season where he got 29 goals and 13 assists in 32 games (37 and 16 in 44 all comps) so many of them came against the big 6. Like a ridiculous number.
      It's hard for people who didn't watch him because they can't just look up the stats and decide but there's a reason he has the reputation he does and there's a reason he's put on a pedestal with players with much better stats.

    The idea of Čech vs Alisson needing to be debated is laughable. Alisson has had four seasons in the Prem that don't come close to Čech's first five seasons, he's had one 80% saves vs SoT season in his entire career at Roma and only one above 75% in the Prem. Čech was the best goalie in the Prem and arguably the world in an era when it was harder to stand out, after a traumatic brain injury as well. Liverpool can get away with lesser quality between the posts because their system (and brilliance in executing it) ensures the ball is mostly kept in the other half. Čech would have not only faced more chances closer to his goal but from better goalscorers too. Even fairly recently in his last two seasons (at age 35/36) he faced higher quality chances as illustrated by his higher PSxG/SoT, and that was his only season that barely dropped below the 70% save rate that Alisson is struggling to just average above in his prime.
    Even better, Čech was still performing at a higher level in his first two seasons at Arsenal. It's objectively not even worth discussing.

    I can’t fathom the disrespect Drogba gets. As time passes, a legend like Drogba who has been inducted into the pl hall of fame I might, should grow in stature as we appreciate their legacy. However, people simply do not understand nor appreciate his role as a target man. The man occupied defences all on his own and brought the whole team into the game through his physicality and hold up play. His intelligence, assists record and aerial prowess alone more than makes up for any goal scoring deficiencies. 2 golden boots and 164 goals from a targetman who can get in behind, pass and dribble makes him the ultimate number 9 that can do almost everything. Should have been the first name in the team.
