- 3 Supplements You Should NEVER take | Dr. Janine
In this video, Dr. Janine shares three supplements you should NEVER take. She talks about how folic acid is synthetically made, look for folate. She looks at synthetic vitamin C usually made from genetically modified corn; looks for vitamin C from berries. She explains how synthetic B-complex supplements are typically derived from the petrochemical industry. Lastly, Dr. Janine suggests always looking for whole food supplements without fillers or flow agents like magnesium stearate.

B complex helped me heal from nerve damage. Sometimes we don't have a choice.
I use to take lots of vitamins, but why not just eat foods that contain b vitamins? Don't eat a lot of sugar and caffiene and we don't go through the B's so quickly
@@danielt5955 Food is soo depleted of viatimins already so supplements are basically a must now.
Nutritional yeast is excellent source for vitamin B without the chemicals
Thank you for the replies mentioning nutritional yeast. But, is it ok to take for someone having candida?
B-Complex Methyl Pro and Metabolic Maintenance are worth looking into. They are the most natural B-Complex that I know of.
One thing you should NEVER do is tell anyone not to do something but don’t give them an alternative. People aren’t doing things to just be doing things. There is a purpose and if you cannot give them an alternative or another solution then you’re not helping. Ok, folic acid is not recommended then what is? Same for the others. This is not hard. Either you give solutions or become part of the problem.
Well said.
Clearly you didnt pay attention. She answered all your concerns
@@krakerjak3 Clearly mind your business.
@@krakerjak3 💯
She did give an alternative. For all of them she said “make sure they are whole food vitamins” or “ get these from natural sources - as all of these can be easily obtained from a healthy, natural diet. Numpty!!!!
I love how Dr Janine gets right to the point , no verbal filer. You don't have to listen to 20 mins before getting to the point. You are the best. Thank you so very very much.
Amen!
ABSOLUTELY I DO TOO
Naturopaths are not doctors.
Tight? I luv it tight. 😂😂😂
So tight. 🤗
I love how the links are right to the point, to the sponsors.
Yeah the amount of bullshit from the video, starting from the clicbait title, continuing with the claims. She is basically telling don't take these, buy my stuff instead.
The great chemist, Linus Pauling, twice a Nobel laureate and winner of numerous awards and honours, is considered one of the greatest scientists ever. Alternative medical practitioners, particularly those advocating high-dose vitamic C, love to point out that Linus Pauling used mega doses of vitamin C daily, over 20g a day in fact, for many years, and he creditedn his good health at an old age to this vitamin. But what these practitioners don't say or know is that Linus Pauling used plain old synthetic ascorbic acid.
Many health practitioners have little actual knowledge of science and keep making fundamental mistakes and promote wrong ideas. There's a misconception about "natural" vs lab-made supplements. Other than stereo or mirror isomers, chemicals behave exactly the same way or produce the same effects regardless of how that chemical was produced, ie whether extracted from "natural" sources or produced synthetically. Put in another way, a molecule is a molecule, regardless of its origins. The only exception is isomers - mirror images of molecules.
The other misconception propounded by some health practitioners is that a naturally sourced vitamin is not only more complete and superior to a synthetic version, but that the synthetic vitamin is harmful or depletes your body of nutrients. The truth, as said before, is that both vitamins perform exactly the same, given the same conditions. The only caveat is that ALL vitamins work synergistically with other nutrients in vivo. Also, most vitamins often require co-factors in order to carry out their functions. A "natural" vitamin C, for example, may have these co-factors in place already - bioflavonoids, copper, and the enzyme tyrosinase. Synthetic vitamin C is pure ascorbic acid. But this does not mean that the synthetic vitamin C is useless. In and of itself ascorbic acid offers important physiological and immuno protection to the body. And whatever co-factors it needs, it gets them from the person's diet.
Yet another misconception is that everything natural is good, and everything synthetic is bad. Wrong again.
Regarding folic acid, for a subset of the population, it may be harmful because these people cannot effectively convert folic acid to the more biologically active forms, such as methylfolate. But many people still derive benefit from folic acid.
As for B-complex, most people would benefit from taking a B-complex, even synthetic. The only caveat is that for a subset of the population that has low methylation capacity, folic acid and the cyanocobalamin form of vitamin B12, are useless, even somewhat harmful. These people would need methylated forms of these 2 vitamins.
B complex has helped me and my family! It helps my skin, it helps me to think clearly and it does a bunch of other good things.
I just bought a bottle of B-Complex been taking it because I've been so exhausted. I think I'll continue taking them .
How about a B12 injection
@@carlestridge423 yes I go see my Dr soon I'll mention B12 injections

Thank you so much for sharing. Which form of supplements is the best? Powder form?
Powder is much cheaper, 3x, than capsule-form. Take natural ingredients, like vitamin C from fruit-powders: Acai, Aronia berries, Camu Camu...not the synthetic Ascorbic Acid. The flavonoids in fruits raise the ORAC(anti-oxidizing power) of vitamin C by 52 times!
Thank you so much, passing along this vid to my family and friends!
Good information....it might help to not not stand right in front of the list, ...but to the side. Just a suggestion.
Also, giving information on WHAT TO TAKE instead would be helpful.

I take a vitamin B complex regularly. It helped get rid of a skin problem I had.
I take b complex as well since a medication I take results in low b levels. Not to mention folic acid (b9) is an integral component of prenatal vitamins.

This is the channel i needed. Does she tell us the brands that dont have junk?
5MTHF is indeed natural form of folic acid. Not sure why you don't differenciate. This form is natural and very beneficial for us. It's also in advanced methylation combo supplement with P5P, and B12 to reduce inflammation.
What companies produce good vitamins please, Dr?
I cant find any proof of flow agents being an issue. I also take a b complex from jarrow labs and not noticed any detrimental affects.
Thank you, Janine 🏆
So, what’s the best complete vitamin complex or superfood powder that provides all or nearly all the suggested ingredients?
Can you make a video on the b complex vitamins
This video would have been much better if methylated forms of B vitamins were addressed. This type of b vitamin does not require absorption by the liver. Essentially though, I would not take b complex either, but not for the reasons described above. I have greatly benefitted for instance, from niacin. Others benefit from different b vitamins (B1 for migraines as part of that protocol for instance). Food is not always enough in circumstances that require therapeutic doses to treat different medical conditions. I have personally witnessed many people benefitting from
b vitamin therapy of varying doses depending on condition and circumstance.
Than show me how to obtain the nature B complex and folic acid and vitamin C with the nature way .
Thanx Do. for waring us not to take these Vitamins.I was using them but after you have told us about the dangers of using such Vitamins i have stopped using them.I promise to throw them away.
I take vita B complex around 33 mg along with calcium before bed for a deep sleep; vitamin D in the morning, 2000 along with vita E 400 in the morning to round out.

I've been taking ascorbic acid for over 50 years vitamin c form no problems I also thake Apple cider vinegar with the mother and local honey in my late 60s very healthy
@mauricesmith4270 Well said, I just wish people would stop believing some of these doctors on u-tube about certain foods and vitamin supplements..I've been taking ascorbic acid vitamin c form and vitamin B complex for over 50 years and Apple cider vinegar for alot years and I'm a young 67years old and I take more vitamins which aren't the most expensive ones aswell and still drink plenty of milk and plenty of eggs over the week..Not everyone out there can afford to buy the best vitamin supplements and organic foods and everything else that these doctors talk about, but saying that, that's why they are probably talking on u-tube to make extra money so they can afford the best of everything..What these doctors are really are unqualified alamist which someone said in a comment on another doctors site on u-tube and I thought at the time was spot on..

Also it has Niacinamide which I believe you have said to stay away from?? Do you prefer certain supplements that you use yourself? Thank you!
Why did she say to stay away from Niacinamide? Seems like theres lots of people on either side of the fence with that one.

@doctorjanine -Thank you Dr.Janine, I have been recently watching your videos and they are really impressive. I have a question on taking tea or coffee when we take multivitamins, does the caffeine take away the goodness of vitamins when we take them together? Appreciate your response
Yes, caffeine does deplete the affects of vitamins! Team Dr. Janine.
@@doctorjanine thank you for your prompt response! If we leave an interval of 30 minutes and then take caffeine then it should be fine. Am I correct?
@doctorjanine - one more question on taking probiotics, do you recommend to that supplement in the night time? If so can I take along with fish oil supplement as well?
Unfortunately caffeine, alcohol
stress & sugar DECREASE & DIMINISH both B & C vitamins out of the body because they are WATER SOLUBLE. Meaning they are easily absorbed by the body & don't STAY in the body & any excess comes out
in our urine. They need to be CONSISTENTLY REPLENISHED ( filled up again
or restored). Our bodies also do not MAKE vitamin C so it must be supplemented DAILY.
