    1. Learn their challenges. Not necessarily a priority.
    2. Learn their objectives. Usually the priority.
    3. Commitment. See if they're serious. "George are you committed to do something about this (or insert problem) right now?"

I love the "Are you committed" question! Because we have to get to the point that we are ready to do something about our problem before we step forward and invest ourselves financially and with our time!

I work for Nike, and understanding my athlete's goals is a major factor in my sales success. I love the follow up, "Are you committed..."
I think I will try that today to see how it flows!

I am going to put more emphasis on #3 and begin asking the question exactly as suggested, Marc.
I'm doing long-cycle ERP software sales and ANYTHING I can do quickly bring the whole picture into focus for me and for the prospect is going to help. I am a "consultant" and it's my job to listen and then lead!

I am from health care and actually I really face issue in closure and also urgency or need creation. I loose my prospects as I sound more pushy and not like actual need of them. I really love my work a lot but kind of pressure of not getting numbers sometimes lets me down.

What has been causing the most pain around(the problem that your product solves)?
      What is your ultimate goal?
Of all the things that can come out of (problem being solved), what is most important to you?

Thanks for your tips. However I feel no.1 tip is more for urgency. But what does no. 2 & 3 do to urgency? Sound like no.2 & 3 are something do to after creating urgency. Can you help me more on this?

Knowing someones challenges does not mean they have the motivation or will be committed to doing something about it. My challenge is losing weight. Am I committed to doing something about it? No. Which is why I still need to lose weight.

Isn’t establishing that they have budget for the type of activity that solves their challenges and helps them to achieve their goals, an indication of their commitment?

    • @dudemanville1756
      @dudemanville1756 Před 6 lety

Yes it often can be. It's one of the last questions you should ask though. If you lead by speaking about money, people will often be stuck on it and not think about the benefit of what you're providing. Also if you break down the cost of a product, let's just say that a car costs $10,000 with a five year payment plan. It's $2,000 a year, but only $5.50 a month. That's the cost of a monthly bus pass, but more convenient because you can use it whenever you want. It's also much more affordable than an Uber/Lyft/Taxi. Even if the budget was lower, it's easy to get around money complaints.

Digital Marketers are facing the problem of being banned by Facebook Ads: Avoid the: "This offer is Only Today". Facebook is blocking ads having that sentence. That is the reason why I am here: Looking for a way to create urgency to pass by the Facebook radar.

that was sooooooo bad. Who is this supposed to work on? There was no urgency created there. There was no suggestion that the client ought to do something, and that "commitment" question was a weak call to action.
I'm not a salesman, but jeeeeeez most of the sales video on youtube are wack. Not wonder salespeople get a bad rep, a lot of the stuff sounds like 80s hogwash, greasy cars salesmen that sounds off, fake, and rehearsed...
"Are you committed to....?" GTFO, are you serious? Who speaks like that? Who are you selling to, the elderly? Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Garbage.

The technique worked for me. The goal is to identify whether or not they are in the mental state to take action now. You can have the best shit in the world but if the customer isn't willing to take action now, you lose the sell.
