    As my psychologist once said me, we do not strive for the easy things, we strive for the stuff that bring us peace. It is usually hard, but is totally worth it.

    @19:08 Love it "strive to be the best version of yourself, period". This year I am really leaning into what drives me philosophically and emotionally. Mood eating was my biggest "comfort behaviour", now I am focusing on me being the best of what I can be, mood eating has lost a lot of draw for me.

    Great video! I don't drink, you have to be true to yourself.

    Really, really good info and advice! As an introvert struggling with alcohol for past 3-4 years, you say so many things I think.... well ruminate(!) about... as we do! I divorced 3 years ago, mid-forties and it's tough. Especially in this world where it seems E-RY-THING revolves around alcohol!... and you have a bit of social anxiety... as we do!
    I too have sought sober friends but they just ain't out there! :-/ Definitely not single ones.
    You are moving to higher level of thinking which many people never even *recognize* over a lifetime. Wish I lived closer to you.... we'd def hang out... and be sober... ha! :)
    You stay on this path and we're going to see you on Super Soul Sunday with Oprah one day with Glennon Doyle and Brene Brown!!
    Keep the videos coming.... you're helping a lot of people... introvert or not.

      Thanks Lori! I appreciate your comment. You are so right about the "everyone seems to drink" phenomenon. I understand your struggle, believe me! For me, drinking is so effective and fun for like the first couple of hours, and then it just devolves into regrettable behavior and bad decisions, LOL! The drunk texts I have sent people...OMG... there's no taking those back.. HAHA!! Oh well, I am committed to creating a circle of friends where we have mutual interests/hobbies, etc. If people drink, cool, but it's not going to be the focus. I will document my progress and hopefully share tips/strategies. I know it will take getting out of comfort zone, but I'm will to try.

    Alcohol actually gives me anxiety as I don't like feeling out of control. Plus I always felt like my Mum acted ridiculous when she was drunk as she had her own issues so whenever I drunk I felt like I was acting like her and I hated that. I haven't drank in years. Good on you for sticking with it.

    Glad to have you back! I also stopped drinking completely except 1-2 glass of wine a year. One of the best decisions ever. I still need to quit caffeine since it makes me more anxious but I'm on it! Just at one coffee a day or even less :) Green tea is way better. Thanks for the great work :)

      Awesome! Yeah, drinking (a lot) is not just worth it. Have you had any trouble making new non-drinking friends? That is what I am working on these days. It's a little harder than finding drinking buddies...LOL! Any tips?

      I didn't have any problems since I know most of my friends from the gym and these guys tend to live a more "health conscious" lifestyle but if you just stick to not drinking you will kind of attract them anyways. Like finds like :D

    Quit getting drunk is different to quitting drinking. I love taste of beer so will always drink it. But just 1 beer. No more, you're right it can take a week to fully recover from getting drunk

    Thanks for the video Steve. My wife uses Headspace and she finds it really helpful. I'll have to give meditation a try myself. Look forward to your next video.

    As a fellow HSP/INFP, I have intense anxiety to the point where Im currently taking meds to heal an ulcer lol Im only in my early 20s and drinking has always been too much emotionally for me to personally handle. Whenever Ive smoked weed, my anxiety has consistently shot through the roof. Maybe I just havent had enough experiences with the right strain(Sativa, etc.) Ive been thinking about trying cbd oil. Have you personally ever used cbd oil at all?(positive weed experiences)I agree, life should ultimately come down to self discovery. Meditation is fantastic. Ive found that even doing conscious breathing throughout the day can immensely help. If youre at all interested in psychology, a great comprehensive book that parallels the two is Zen and the Brain(written by a neuroscientist and his experiences in Japan) www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0262511096/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1518947675&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=zen+and+the+brain&dpPl=1&dpID=41X1ybaAf0L&ref=plSrchGodspeed.

      Take out the word "Godspeed." at the end of the hyperlink and it should work. That was just my send off and it got mixed in there somehow.

      I have never tried CBD oil but I hear good things. I have smoked/vaped cannabis at various time in the past and I do get anxiety for the first 20 minutes, but then I have a pretty vibe for the next 3-4 hours... I think the trick with cannabis is to just do a little. Cannabis is way less harmful than alcohol, that's for sure. There have been times I have vaped Sour Diesel (my favorite Sativa strain) and went on 4 mile runs in the woods, think about interesting things, and had an awesome day. However, I would never run after drinking... Drinking is like throwing a heavy blanket over your brain. If I use cannabis too much/frequently, the anxiety does ramp up eventually. It's been a while since I've had any.

    Kratom. Look into it

    • @TheHSPExperience
      @TheHSPExperience  Před 6 lety

      I actually tried Kratom years ago, before a lot of people even knew about it, but It really didn't work for me as well as other's were claiming. I eventually took a pretty large dose and puked...LOL!! ...which is common with large Kratom doses.

    • @gottabme3781
      @gottabme3781 Před 6 lety

      It takes some experimentation. I LEARNED to drink in my pre-teens for all the same reasons we HSPs do! I am 45 and a heavy boozer most of my life. A year and a half ago I discovered kratom. Figured out how to use it and which kind (experimentation) and miraculously stopped drinking. I can't stand alcohol now. No desire for it what-so-ever. It was not the plan and there was no struggle to stop. I don't ever suggest switching one addiction for another, but for anybody truly struggling to stop, it can be a life saver. My suggestion was for others reading in case they are desperate. You are good with what you are doing! If I believe in the devil, then I believe the devil is behind the lure of alcohol. It is the most destructive substance we can willingly put in our bodies! Don't miss it one bit!

      @TheHSPExperience  Před 6 lety

      Yeah, good tip on the Kratom. It really is an amazing plant! That's awesome that it helped you to stop drinking. Alcohol is so damn destructive to our bodies... It's brutal.
