    This is a great comparison. I am more and more convinced, that I need an Evora for the daily driver car and an Exige Cup for the weekend. And probably I would need to move to UK to benefit from all the tracks. Not many in Sweden.....

    The Exige V6 Cup is obvs the benchmark track day car because of its motorsport bred chassis set-up, track-day rubber and it's minimal kerbweight.
    However, I'm truly amazed at just how supreme that Evora Sport 410 is when thrashed on the circuit. The balance seems to be spot on and the car doesn't get unsettled by nasty, directional braking zone. What an amazing track car. DrPittenstein, if you can, get the Evora 410 so you have a garage of both absolutely epic cars. Lotus is clearly at its absolute best when creating pure, dedicated track day machinery and both the Exige V6 Cup & Evora 410 prove that.

      Yes would love both as the Exige has been such a good car, so pure, so inspirational on track. Back in the real world, unless all of Shmee's subscribers suddenly switch to my channel, I will have to choose between them! Tough choice but could be time for a change later this year. I'm glad that there are some out there like you who really understand Lotus and what makes them such great drivers cars. Thanks for watching.

    Great Job! Despite the official "Marketng Claims" I would not have thought that the Evora 410 has any chance against the Exige V6 Cup on track... imagine what the Evora could do with 500 bph...

      No, I believe the Hethel laptime now. That car must have been in the lightest possible spec but all car makers do that. Exige felt like a big step over the Evora 400 around Goodwood. But not the 410. Maybe my tyres were worse than I thought! :)

    love it every time when people throttles on these cars and the caption thought it was music.

      DrPittenstein no I would like to go to one. Is it invite only? I was at the club lotus day there in May. Great track although we had a hard limit of 98!

      @DrPittenstein  Před 7 lety +1

      Sean Cain thanks, they aren't very fast times I was still learning Castle Combe at the time but they are a fair comparison. I went much quicker in the Exige later that afternoon with some more circuit knowledge but thought it was only fair and relevant to compare my morning laps. You can watch them on the split screen lap videos.

      Yes Jonny, I think the Evora has a lot more potential, but doubt Lotus will unlock it without Geely money. I've no problem with Toyota drivetrain, but I think the transverse layout & transmission is holding it back. A 300 lb ft limit & your comment about weight transfer seems to imply it too. With high-end Exige's crossing path with Evoras, Lotus have X2 mid engined, V6 SC, 2 seat sportscars @ £70-80K - sounds crowded for a company that makes 1500 units PA. Lotus should forget the silly +2 seats, mount the engine forward, low & longitudinal (Volvo/Yamaha V8?) and fit a transaxle that can take supercar killer torque. At 1200 KG & £100k this would be the kinda car that gets buyers attention .

    • @DrPittenstein
      @DrPittenstein  Před 7 lety +1

      Sounds quite a car. Much the same could be said of the 911's engine placement for the sake of two back seats yet that is a key part of its success and also why Lotus thought it would be a good idea to something similar. Most Elise buyers at the time were moving up to 911s. I would agree with you about a longitudinal engine in the Evora, well, any car really, also that the engine should be shunted forward where the rear seats go (for both the Evora and the 911). Unless the Volvo V8 is lighter than the Toyota V6, 1200kg might not be achievable. The race cars are about that and are completely stripped out. A good ambition none the less. I think the Sport 410 is a pretty inspirational car as it is, really impressed me on track. Gearshift is an absolute delight, along with all the primary controls. Nice for me at least that there is one car in this price range that is not prioritizing straight line performance at the expense of driver involvement. A Nissan GTR is going to have to work very hard to shake one of these off around a track, even with 160bhp more, I don't think it would be able to.

    • @seancain7305
      @seancain7305 Před 7 lety +1

      Yes, your +VE review of the 410 (as an Exige Cup owner) gives it big credibility. Thanks again for taking the time to subjectively / objectively compare the two

  • @chumaxa
    @chumaxa Před 7 lety

    I do not know if that is because of the fact that the exige is your car, but you seem to push more the evora, tyres wroking harder ..?

    • @DrPittenstein
      @DrPittenstein  Před 7 lety +1

      No, tyres squeal more in the Evora as it is heavier. Watch the split screens, you'll see that I actually outbrake the Evora in the Exige into Tower corner. The Evora makes back the time under power. Power:weight are very close, both cars around 310bhp/ton. But the Evora makes more power higher up which works well on the track. On the road the Exige will feel faster.

      Ok ok, what tyres do you run on your cup ?Never thought of the Komotec upgrade ?

    It will probably never happen, but imagine an Evora 410 Cup. Less weight, more grip, proper aero.

    • @DrPittenstein
      @DrPittenstein  Před 7 lety +1

      A Francis I don't think they'll do an Evora Cup, the Exige does that job well and will always be lighter in any event. There's not much more weight to take out from the lightest spec 410. More carbon panels won't save that much, the whole roof in carbon only saves 2kg. Can go wider tyres I guess but you can't get better than the Michelin PSC2's that are already on there. Proper aero is the only area they could make a big gain from here. I think it might be coming actually but it won't be called a Cup...

      Have you seen the GT430? 1300kg, 430bhp, 250kg downforce.
