    The Evora h`s been the flagship supercar for Lotus for some time now but with some tinkering the GT430 Sport is now the quickest car ever to be let out on public roads by the iconic British sportscar maker. We had a brief go to see what we thought of it and it's track focused brother, the GT430.

    The Evora really deserves better than it is getting. It is the British Porsche 911and still its own animal. It should be wildly more popular and just one of those sports cars everyone just knows when you say its name.

      @musicsnob4226 Před rokem +1

      The reason why it's never going to be as popular as a 911 is because it's running a Japanese motor Lotus should be making their engines in house or have Cosworth through it that's the only way they'll take off

      euroaaRON1 I think they might go for a hybrid for an Esprit, like the new NSX (if they make one at all...). They definitely need to stick to the Elise and Evora mantra of low weight and naturally aspirated / supercharged and chuckable handling. Realistically though, and sadly, with no new petrol cars being sold in the UK in just 22 years time...it's inevitable that the next two generations of cars will be their last petrol powered cars. Which is a shame for everyone. We all know how the Tesla roadster compared to the Elise. Sad times.

    Who ever though a Toyota Camry engine can sound so sweet?

    • @FlyingTigersKMT
      @FlyingTigersKMT Před 5 lety +7

      What does that have to do with anything? You can put any engine into any car and the configuration of the car doesn't change what the engine is. Mercedes and BMW use the same engine across platforms from sporty compact coupes to flagship sedans to SUVs to convertibles and nobody talks about how the engine in the 7 series sounds so good when it's in a rip roaring 3 or 4 series, or how the S or GL class engine sounds so good in the CL or SL. Toyota put the engine in the Camry and de tuned it and muffled it to befit the family sedan market, but put that same engine in the sport platform with proper tuning and exhaust tuning, it can sound like any other performance DOHC 4-valve V6, and why shouldn't it?

    Driving Tips for this reviewer:
    1- You are sitting too far away from the steering wheel, you should move forward at least another 2-3 feet. If your helmet is not touching the front windshield and the steering column is not all the way down your throat, you are sitting too far away.
    2- Your hands should be in the 12 and 6 positions at all times. Just leave your left hand gently on top of the steering wheel and then Yank on it with your right hand.
    3- When approaching turns, move your whole body and head froward(if possible)to be able to check the hairpin before turning into it using the technique in step 2.
    4- Remember to have fun. If your front tires are not squealing in agony, you are not having fun.
    You are welcome!

      I know a lot about cars, and generally I would choose a Porsche over a lotus. Porsche's are a bit more useable day to day, they are more practical, more reliable, and better residuals. It's true that a Lotus will always shine on a race track, but that's what makes them more toy kit cars, than cars that can be enjoyed every day.

    There are three types of mid-engined cars. The less expensive ones with 4-cylinder turbo engines, like the 4c, Cayman/Boxter and Alpina A110.
    From there there's a huge jump to V10 naturally aspirated or V8 Turbo cars, like the R8, Hurracan, 488 and all McLaren does. Finally, there is also the V12 Aventador and the W16 Turbo Bugatti.
    The Evora is alone with a V6 supercharged engine. Geely should make a better 6-cylinder engine, maybe a variant of the super-turbo charged 2.0 Volvo engine, sharper design with just 2 seats and more advanced Volvo type of interior.
    The 911 Carrera or the 718 aren't exotic cars. The Lotus Evora could be, and they should also use the classic black and gold F-1 Lotus livery (when they were sponsored by John Player Special).
    If sold for 911 Carrera money, which has a huge markup, a truly exotic, luxurious and technologically advanced Evora would be an easy pick.

    Lotus has been a footnote in the automotive industry for so long, they need to make some waves. To do so, they need to take a page out of Honda's playbook. Back in the day, Honda offered Ferrari levels of performance for half the price in the NSX. Lotus should do that on a Porsche level... all they need are 3 models, one that offers 911 performance and usability for half the price, one that does the same with the Boxster, and of course an SUV.
