SVS SB-3000 Review: This subwoofer is a perfect example of why SVS subs are so popular. It does so many things right. Everything I expect from a sub and more.

Those 3 6-ohm JLs take me back a quarter century! I used to install those back in the 90's. Nice review, camera and editing work!
JL audio is Elite Audio! God bless you!!!!!!
A pair of these here, they are staying. Love these subs.
Excellent review, Joe - as always! I am loving my dual SVS SB-3000 subs for sure. They make music and theatre just come alive! 🤗
Dual!!!??? Lucky man!
Joe N Tell Yes, and they are paired with a pair of Wharfedale Linton Heritage speakers - right next to each one on the inside on the Left & Right. This lines up the 1" Tweeter, the 5" Mid-range, the 8" Bass, and then the 13" Subwoofer drivers on each side - creating Wharfedale bliss! 🤗
@@StrangerInParadise58 That sounds like a great setup. I think I would like something like that. What are you using as an amplifier?
I have dual SB 3000s also. Same setup with Ohm Walsh speakers,
Outlaw RR2160 receiver. LG OLED 65 inch.
2.2 music and video.
Great sound all around.
@@paulgolub6823 That sounds like an awesome setup also!
I have an SB-3000 and was able to do an A-B comparison with a buddy's PB-1000 Pro. My living room is open on both sides and has a right turn into the dining room giving it a total air space of around 2000 cubic feet. The actual AV area is around 10x13' and a sub can only be placed in the right front corner. I had extensive discussions with SVS which included sending them a diagram of the living room and its measurements. Both of their guys that I spoke to thought that the SB-3000 would work well with this setup so in it came. The system consists of a Denon X3800 AVR, a front array with RSL CG5-CG25-CG5s and four SVS Prime Elevations as F/R Heights. Both subs were switched in and out of the same corner location and had fresh Audyssey calibrations done. Test content was the race scene in Ready Player One, several scenes in Aquaman and Blade Runner 2049. We used Atmos and Auro-3D to test. The 3000 was set to -18db from its -20 calibration level and the 1000 Pro was at -17db. The Denon was set to -30 db volume. After extensive testing there was not much obvious difference between the two subs. Bass was deep and substantial on both but the 3000 did sound a bit more "alive" at times, especially when Ready Player One was running. Auro-3D sounded better than Atmos on most tests. Both subs could vibrate my couch seat cushions when reaching down low. If the 3000 was pushed to its very outer limits volume wise there might have been a hint of distortion but I wouldn't normally do that so it wasn't a showstopper. Now here's the oddity. When switching from the 1000 Pro to the 3000, the latter souded a bit louder. Maybe it was just more refined but whatever it was, both if us heard it. I spoke to SVS about it and no explanation could be offered but it was definitively real. Overall my impression was that for a sealed sub, the SB-3000 compares favorably to the PB-1000 Pro. You can't go wrong with either box but if space and aesthetics are issues, the SB-3000 is worth a serious look.
I am a sucker for a sealed sub. The cleanness of the base is just awesome. With how important quality base can add to the system and/or how much cheap base can hurt it, love my SVS (and I just got one of their cheaper ones).
just because the svs is popular that doesn't mean the svs is any good what the popularity of svs really means is a lot of people are idiots these svs is no good

Excellent Review, the svs sb3000 is a monster.🔊😲
Nice, reminds me of when I through my Infinity PS-12 in the trunk after the plate amp went out.
Nice video. Is there any guide to correcting the sub using REW with ways to pull out a PEQ? Thanks
Thanks so very much for review
Does a PB3k when plugged sound the same as a SB3k?
Great video Joe: I still use a Velodyne from year 2000 still pumping. It has a 10 in from and a 12' passive on the bottom. Quite musical. I feel SVS is the Velodyne of 20 years ago.
I remember hearing so much about Velodyne back in the day. Those and the Sunfire True Subwoofer! 🤣
I have a pair of SB-3000’s and I LOVE them. You can dial them in to your liking. The app is where it’s at! So very cool.
Best upgrade to my Martin-Logan/McIntosh set-up!
I haven't heard bass mekanik in awhile lol. That was a throw back to my old car audio days. Good stuff
hello I'm a happy owner of a Sennheiser ambeo sb01 soundbar and I thought about adding a svs sb 4000 subwoofer to improve the bass in my room. my room is 27 m 3 do you think the svs sb 4000 subwoofer is too excessive or is it ideal for this size?
Curious to know if you also plug your sub directly to the wall inside your home or through something like a surge protector or Panamax protector. Is direct to wall better for subs and av receivers? Thanks!
Man!... Your review is informative and thorough. Got a newbie ques... Do home audio subs have hi pass filters out?
Thank you. No, the AVR is responsible for that.
Most IMPORTANT part: 5 year warranty on BOTH the sub AND the Amp
WHAT?! Your.. camera picks up 17Hz so perfectly, I can hear it in my headphones (probably room has to do something with it because the sound dissapears at 16Hz) soo... I dunno what's more impressive. The camera which picks it up so nicely or the sub which is a CLOSED SUB and play this tone no problem. Damn... I need SVS
When I need to pick up low frequencies, I use a special mic made for speaker measurements
About the time SVS started producing subs that beat much more costly subs like REL and velodyne, they won. There is nothing that can argue with superior measured output.
Here in Australia, there is a big difference in price between SB2000 and SB3000. I have a question, I know that the SB2000 does have the ease of installation/setup as the SB3000 and has to be set up more manually. But if I was able to do a good job with the SB2000, then how far away is it performance-wise to the SB3000? I am almost sure to go for twin SB2000. Unless I can be convinced to go for the twin SB3000?
Excellent video. On another subject, do you have plans to review or audition the new ‘Sennheiser Ambeo bar’? Thank you
I would love to, but no plans yet
Just got one at 20% off from World wide stereo. I've been waiting a while for a sale. Anyhow, my home theater is finally complete. Running 4 towers in a 7.1 setup for now. Hoping this bad boy is as great as you say. This is my first Svs sub. Might go dual subs next year !
@s002wjh Ebay. Just looked yesterday and they are still on sale for $800. I would jump on this sale if I was you
People today are spoiled by choices, especially home subs. The SB-3000 I bought cost me $1099 in gloss black. Just a few years ago, $1000 would buy you little more than a woofer from a box store. You know, those cheap port "ht" subs that have a ton of 60hz but not much below 40 where it should be. You really needed to drop a couple grand or more to get an actual sub. And the ones that output over 90db at 20hz were 15 or 18", huge and heavy. The compact Sb3000 exceeds that, and is much smaller and lighter. It's a great time to be an audiophile. You just don't need a $4000 servo sub. I should blame Joe for steering me toward SVS when my 15 year old sub died in April 2021.
While numbers don't lie- I have to caveat the monolith sub. It is awesome, especially for under $500 which normally buys a toy-like woofer that won't sub. There is no doubting it's power. That being said, I prefer a sealed sub for my systems. I can control it better and I get more musical definition/articulation. So for MY application, a sealed sub is the only way I'll go. I run my HSU VTF-15 mKII in sealed for my HT. When I ran ported, it just sacrificed quality for boom. That being said, the Monolith has to be the most powerful sub for under $500 ever made. 16hz? That used to mean a $4000 18" velodyne or bag-end infrasub.

Nice video, mate! Just got my new SB-3000 unboxed, SVS isolation feet installed, and powered on. I felt some of those test tones actually vibrate my wheelchair!! My SB-3000 is for my desktop PC audio system (Adam Audio A7V studio monitors + Topping E70 Velvet dac). Yeah, it's overkill for PC games, music, and video streaming, but I don't give a damn. I love this beast!!
@joe if u had a 1000.00 dollar budget. Would u do 2 pb 1000 or 1 pb 2000 pro?
I had my Subwoofer turned up while i was watching this video and the walls were vibrating and other people in the house heard it from far away. They all started texting me did you hear that noise ? Would you rather go dual PB-2000 Pros or SB-3000 Pros?
Joe I was thinking about 2 Hsu vtf mk5 they are ported 12 inch subs with a 350 watt amp but space is tight would 2 of these for home theater be just as good
I haven't tested the HSU VTF MK5's so it wouldn't be fair for me to compare.
@@joentell I understand that its supposed to be competing with the svs pb2000 how does the sb3000 compare to that
Which mark 5? Hsu subs in general I consider better - they’re far more configurable and have better extension and headroom for the price.
Hey Joe! Great video is always. Do you have any experience with the sb16 Ultra? I'm looking to upgrade soon and I was considering dual sp3000, mainly because the size just works well for my room. But then I was thinking just go with one sb16 Ultra and then when I can afford it go dual in the future. I just don't want it to be like a year down the road and wish I would have got the sb16
It sounds like you're leaning towards the SB16 Ultra. I think it's going to depend on room size and how low you want to go. How loud are you playing those subs?
@@joentell thanks for the reply! The room is decently sized too because it opens up to the kitchen and the ceilings are vaulted. Sadly I don't get to play them nearly as loud as I would like because I get shut down by the wife and by the time I can watch a movie it's late and the kids are asleep. She complains about the pb-1000 lol
In that case, you might benefit more from the more even bass of two SB3000's no? Plus better WAF. It's not like you can't sell them if you ever wanted to upgrade later. Iotavx intergrated amp with klipsh rp600m... Do you think this would be a good fit?
Sounds like a sweet combo to me!
Would you buy the sb3000 or pb2000
I'm thinking of Putting either an sb 3000 or an sb 4000 in my 10'x10'v12' room but can't decide
I'd go with ported in my 17x22 room if I had the space. Unfortunately with a 8 Foot pool table, large couch and dartboard, I don't have room for a large deep subwoofer or even big speakers.
So I just opted for mounting small NHT Super Zeros for main speakers on the wall and a SVS SB2000 that is compact enough to not get in the way of playing pool. It's quite surprising how well it turned out. Just having one SB2000 in one corner can shake the room. I could even add duals for even bass throughout. But ouch at that price.
¿SVS SV-3000 vs Velodyne DD12 vs Revel B112V2? Which is better and why?
Hi there. I need your advice please. Just got the svs sb3000 and I’m struggling the get the best out of it. Could you please make a video with your settings please. Kind regards, and please stay safe.
How big is your space? What settings are you running? Make sure room gain correction is off and Lfe mode is on.
goxcpre Hi, my room is about 20m2, room correction is off, lfe is on and sub for the movies is on -8db
wish you could test these brands like - velodyne,svs,psa,hsu.. testing all there subwoofers and price to performance comparison. thanks.
I've reached out to Dr. HSU in person and he's not interested in having me review his subs. I still need to reach out to the others.
@@joentell Too bad. HSU was my second choice, but in the end, I went with a pair of pb1000's and SVS's warranty; I think HSU's output is higher, in some cases, but you really want a pair of subs not just a single if you want even response across the majority of the room. Checkout Subwoofer 101's channel as he owned the HSU and compared to a pair of PB-1000's and can better explain why a pair is better over a single/bigger sub. Bass traps have also been ordered and are on the way.
Hey, young fella...I like SVS products, too. Great company because they have great people. I had a pair of Ultra Bookshelves and they were impressive. Probably should have kept them but had to send them back for reasons I won't get into here. Your test shows why their subs are so popular and I kinda regret not waiting to try one before getting the vented one I'm using now. Another great review.
Thank you Mike!
Hey, I'm going to the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver this September. How 'bout you? It'll be just me and an old white dudette.
Can you please review and check frequencies response of Bose Bass Module 700. i know it’s Not a Audiophile sub. But still requesting
If I can get my hands on one, I would love to
I'll just tell you now it's trash.
Let me preface this conversation by stating that I have Vulcan ears. Let me also say that I once worked in a very high end audio shop in Mt. View, CA. . . Muons, Blades, $55k turntables, etc. Hence, I have some mild experience & have heard all manner of audio equip. Currently, my entire home theater is SVS ultra. . . towers, center, surrounds. I have had the SVS SB-1000s, then upgraded to 2000 Pro. With respect to the aforementioned 2, yes I could hear a very mild and/or faint noise floor with my ear right on top of the cone. However, when I backed away to the listening position (10'-12') it disappeared.
I then decided to take a step up using the SVS upgrade program to the SB-3000s. The noise floor on these was nearly twice as audible, & I could most definitely hear them from the listening position. SVS sent me 2 amps. One was DOA, & the 2nd was a tad worse than the originals. I was told that the SB-4000 & Ultras don't have this issue. Strange how the "monkey-in -the-middle" of their lineup is the only one to have that issue.
I was told by someone @ SVS that most people don't have a problem with noise floor in the 3000s, or don't care. Further, I was told that I am in the 1% that can hear it. I guess they don't engineer it for the minority that have exceptional hearing. I suppose my "OCD" is some form of disability. Isn't that some form of racism? ;) Needless to say, I sent them back & reinstated the SB-2000 Pros to my system. On a positive note, SVS did say they would keep my upgrade program open indefinitely until they can resolve the issue.
Pair of these in my near future.
You'll be happy. I am with mine!
I’m looking to get an SVS Sub for new home theater system set up in my living room. I was Looking at the PB-2000 but I was considering the PB-3000. Price is my hesitation. $800 vs $1400. Is the sound difference worth the extra $600.
I reviewed the SB2000 and SB3000. I think it really would depend on the size of the room. The 3000 series has more maximum output which you'll need if you have a larger room. If not, the frequency response difference isn't huge. You also should consider whether the app control/DSP in the 3000 series is important to you.
Compared to the Bose bass module 700 ?
I might be an extreme minority here, but I honestly wish the SB3000 is just a slight bit wider and taller. It's currently 15.2", but it'd be nice if it's 17". The current width makes the side look a little thin and frail due to the 2" gap between the driver surround and edge of the cabinet.
Just a minor pet peeve to want the dimensions to look a little more uniform.
Seems like the SB-4000 would be perfect for you.
i actually returned an sb 2000 and bought the arendal sound sub1 and it made a big difference as in the netherlands, they are about the same price. The svs was absolutely great in low bass, but it lacked tightness, integration and finish.
Weird since SVS subwoofers are known for having tight bass.
AlexCity actually went through multiple brands. First i had a smaller one from focal, which was, for its size pretty decent but too boomy and not powerful enough. Then i decided i wanted something more powerful so i landed on a klipsch 112, which was definitely more powerful but basically i could still hear the sub (and yes they were properly set up) and for music it was floppy. So i decided why not give svs a shot, they are THE name in the game after all. And after getting the sb2000 in, it made a big difference although i didn’t like the finish.
It was way more powerful(albeit a tad more expensive) a lot tighter but i could still localize it and didn’t integrate well with the speakers i had. So after scowering forums i landed on arendal and i ordered one while i still had the svs. Four days later i returned the svs after comparing them in my room. I couldn’t localize the sub, the finish was so.. amazing and i thought i would leave a lot of power behind but i didn’t, i found my perfect sub :D
Thanks for the feedback. I'll check it out.
Joe N Tell certainly. For US viewers, svs is a good way to go because they are us based. Unfortunately due to taxes and shipping, their value proposition in the EU is much lower and their pricing is higher. It’s the same with emotiva.
In the eu, there’s arendal sound for more premium speakers (or midrange in the audio world)(they also ship to the US), there’s XTZ which are very cinema based and make a stacked 3x12 inch sub, and there’s teufel which is more of a budget oriented brand. All of them are respected companies here and on european hifi communities.
@@Zoranurai13 It's too bad it costs so much more there in the EU. I'm glad you're telling me about all of these brands I've never heard of here in the US as they don't market here. I'm about to look all of them up right now!
Can you please publish a list of the 10 best selling subwoofers and their test results?
Can you test a REL sub? T7i, T9i
Thinking of getting the svs sb 2000 pro. Due to budget. How worst is the 2000 than the 3000. I’m planning for home theater with “klipsch the fives”
I haven't used an SVS sub that I wasn't impressed with considering their size and price.
I'm debating on purchasing a single PB-3000, or Dual SB-2000s, has anyone had the opportunity to try a single PB3000 and or dual SB2000?
We asked the same question to the SVS guys on our recent Daily HiFi Podcast. They said they almost always recommend two subs placed in optimal positions to one sub.
@@joentell Thank you sir!
Could I use this woofer with my Kanto yu6?
Yes.
This or svs pb 2000 pro? Which one is louder ?
Typically ported has more output at the tuning frequency, but the SB3000 is a bit of a larger woofer and the amp is more powerful. I would have to test them both. You could also ask the SVS folks. They're good about responding.
Whats louder the sb 3000 or the pb 1000 pro?
Probably the PB1000 Pro.
in all seriousness, I really would like to run one of these in my car. Probably a lot easier than installing amp plus custom box to house dual or triple 10 W6s. Should be fine with an inverter to battery?
I don't think a power inverters would be good. It goes me thinking. Imagine if SVS made a plug-in setup where you would wire it up normally, but there could be a plug where you could just plug in a removable subwoofer. It could handle power and the audio connection. That way, you could take out the sub if you need more space or going to place where you're worried about someone taking the sub.
Depending on the car, it's not as hard to install an amp as you might think.
I believe they're (the auxillary outlet) normally 15 amps, so around 180w or possibly sightly more since the voltage in the car is normally higher while running. (15amps x 12volts)
The SB 3000 is 800w RMS and while you'll get loud with 150w, you're probably not going to know what the limits are and could go over the limit and blow the fuse. (Not the end of the world, but eh)
If you can buy the SB 3000, you can instead have someone install an amp for you can get a proper sub later on. (The Dayton Ultimax 10 sealed does very well in my car, but if you want it to dig to 20hz and shake the car that low, you'll want it ported)
@@JoshM7 Or you'd want the dayton's sealed enclosure to be much larger if you want it to dig deeper.
@@maincharacter2677 I think that depends on the driver used.
The ultimax 10" really won't benefit from a bigger sealed enclosure due to xmax limitations.
My Ultimax is in the 1.25 cubic foot knock down enclosure that Parts Express sells and if I put it in a 2 cube enclosure it'll run out of xmax at 27Hz instead of 25Hz with my current enclosure at 500w. Basically losing more than you're gaining. (and you're gaining almost nothing)
Though if you don't mind dropping the power to lower mechanical movement, you could gain a couple dB under 20Hz.
Josh M Yeah i’m glad you knew what I was talking about in the end atleast you know your sub well! Yes true there’d be no point changing the enclosure for such a small increase too looking at it! Do you use a dsp aswell to stop it surpassing its xmech?
are velodynes not as popular as svs?
Joe how do I find audio events?
Where are you located? Follow a bunch of companies on social media and they'll usually post which events they will be at. That helps.

Joe N Tell YES!!!! My plan is to upgrade my speakers to either B&W’s or definitive technologies.
Dang!
Facebook market got sb 2000 for 200. Now eyeing either other one or sb-3000. To make it dual subs
I think they are so popular due to people not making/wanting to make their own subwoofer setup. I make my own and they always sound fantastic for far cheaper. I use car audio subs/amps and it works amazing!
I just looked up the price of some of the DIY subwoofer kits on Parts Express and around the $499 price point, I'm not sure you could build a sub that would outperform something like the SVS pb1000.
@@joentell I built my own sub for around 300$, and I know no 300$ sub on the market will touch it. And as far as my Big bass setup (2-15's in a custom ported box) on my jl audio 1000 watt amp All I can say is good luck beating that for the 450$ I have invested in that. It shakes stuff of the walls/counters 30 feet away on the opposite side of my house. I have already broken 3 mirrors.(and it is under powered)
@@jondoe6618 You're saying your subwoofer setup INCLUDING your 1000 watt JL Audio amp is $300? I doubt that. You have to remember that these SVS subs are active/powered so you have to account for the amplifier if you want to do a fair comparison. The JL Audio JX1000 is $389 by itself!
So considering everything is brand new, what kind of drivers and enclosure can I get for $110 to equal the $499 SVS PB1000?
Plus you have to consider the time and tools needed to make the enclosure and make it look decent. I know how long it takes because I've made many sub enclosures. My sub at home is a DIY sub.
Last thing is if you're using a car amp to power your home subs, what did you use to get that to work?
@@joentell My subwoofer isnt using the jl it is actually using a rockford punch 300.1 on a 12 and running on a variable dc power supply. All of it is actually in my house and works awesome.
Hey, I'm all for DIY projects. I don't know how feasible it is for most people though. For those people, spending a hundred bucks more to have a complete product and not have to run a huge marine 12v battery is worth it. :-) I've heard good things about those NVX subs, but I haven't gotten a chance to try them out. Which series do you have?
Where can I get a long power cord??
Pretty much anywhere. It's a standard 3 prong IEC cable.
I like your idea. If I keep listening I’ll go broke. Quick question. RB42’s. Is the AD250 enough for them? How about the New SMSL SA and M 100?
If I didn't get stuff sent to me for review, I would be broke real quick too! 🤣
The AD250 is good enough at a desk. You might want something 80-100 watts for them to shine.
Joe N Tell any recommendations?
And of course Budget friendly.
Have you heard about Nobsound?
i heard good things about the new sb 3000, finally svs mased good sounding subwoofer also, svs not been the best at sound quality but now its up there it seems. but only for the sb 3000.
i wish they did not get into bluetooth and phone stuff. i rather have a ir remote for basic stuff and maybe a usb interface to a desktop pc for full parametric eq, not a tiny phone app.
also speaker level input would be nice, then you don't even need a subwoofer out to use it.
You know you can get a simple preamp from emotiva and others if you just want to run optical out and into the preamp and then rca out to the sub.
of course that is an option. i run optical out from my pc to a dac/preamp that has balanced out to power amps and rca to my subwoofer. but it is always good to have high level inputs on subwoofers, i recently had to buy another dac to feed my headphone amp because i do not have rca left over.
Would love if someday you would review a MartySub (I'd send you mine, but it's too heavy and I couldn't afford the shipping)
Would be neat if Parts Express sponsoered the build, they're not that expensive for what it offers. I've never heard SVS in person, so I can't begin to compare them.
All I know is this thing is dangerous to the structural integrity of my house when playing below 25hz as I think the resonance frequency of the ceiling is 17hz with how violently it moves.
😲😲😲 I've heard a lot about them
@@joentell It's really my only experience with a proper Subwoofer as I moved from a Polk Psw10 (Was also given a Paradigm PS-1000, and that got LOUD, but was so uncontrollable and mostly one note in my room) to it, so have no clue how SVS compares to this beast.
I have a few clips on this channel of it, but they're not really reviews as I don't feel I can review it properly. I can praise it all day as for my needs it does so much more than I realistically need it to for most listening session. (Even when I try to make it sweat, I'm the one sweating instead hoping something doesn't break)
Most sub companies refuse to allow their product to be measured objectively for SPL. Except Hsu, they show what each model produces under the CEA standards. Sure SQ is an issue but it's subjective. That was too cool putting the SVS in your van!
Thanks.... I now know that my Klipsch and Sony work down to 20hz
Price?
Maybe it could've pressurized the room if you stuck it in the corner right? As you placed it in the middle. I do know that bass could become muddier though.
Just too small to pressurize large rooms. A ported sub would be a better choice if that's what you are looking for. The SB-3000 will still do a great job.
goxcpre I understand, i've had many sealed subwoofers and they've managed to pressurise decently large room especially the lower frequencies.
I own a SB3000 and it’s tough to justify spending more unless I move up to JTR.

Question: You've call SVS subs "musical," and I get it.Years ago when I bought my current gear (Rotel 500-watt mono amps feeding B&W 802Ds) I realized I needed a sub for 5.1 movies and *potentially* to "help" the 802Ds at the low end (not that they really need it). Movie-watchers want to feel the explosions and thuds, so accuracy is more or less optional. On the other hand, for a sub to play music, the people at Velodyne (now Audio Research Germany) emphasized not only flat response, but also distortionless response. The special voice coilS in my Velodyne permitted it to incorporate a feedback loop such that the sub could produce a consummately accurate tone, to accompany the rest of the "instruments" in my system. So, with that as introduction, what replacement to the failing Velodyne would you recommend to an audiophile from within the SVS (or some other) product lineup? Thanks in advance from some who's been listening with critical ears for 50 years.
It sounds like what you're describing with Velodyne is a servo system. I agree with what you've said about minimizing distortion. SVS doesn't use servos, but on their PB16 Ultra for example, they use a driver with a huge 8" voice coil. Having a big voice coil and strong magnet (strong motor structure) along with powerful amps allow them to control the movement of the cone the way a servo would.
Thanks for the super-speedy reply. "Servo" is indeed the right term; I'd forgotten it. I will look into the PB16 Ultra. Oh, BTW, I am thrilled to be a new subscriber. What reviews I've seen (only started today) are excellent!
Thank you for subscribing. I'm not suggesting you only look at the PB16 Ultra. Check out their entire line and see what suits you best. You can give them a call too. They have awesome customer service.
Since my last post I have looked up the PB16 Ultra on Amazon. It costs only $500 more than my Velodyne cost back in the day, so I can't complain at the price. But I will look into other SVS models, especially since my listening room is not giant and I don't intend to turn my sound system into an automatic burglar killer. Seems to me with the PB16 Ultra you have to warn visitors who may have pacemakers. ;-)
The guys at SVS will guide you. They won't try to sell you the most expensive thing. They'll help you find the best system for your room. Tell them I sent you. I would recommend 2 smaller subs over 1 giant one any day. It will help smooth out the response in your room.
Joe N Tell for life!!!!!! #joentell4life
Your camera must go down low. Rolling of at 10 hz and flat at 30 hz. I could feel like 10 hz by touching by woofer.
Any free give away ? Because its too expensive for me here😔. i love svs subs
I'm a bass noob. I currently have a 10" Polk car sub/non ported rigged and a Z-5300e sub(ported) hooked up to a Logitech X-530 sub output with a Alpine crossover. Which is then hooked up to my pa system which is hooked up to my computer through my tv. The Z-5300e amp took a shit and I lost the remote that hooks to the back, so I cut the speaker wires off that amp and bypassed that. With both of those subs running, it sounds good. Buuuuuuuut.... I want more bass for when we throw house raves. Would it even be worth it to get a SVS PB-1000? The room is 17' x 18'. My goal is to have deeper/more impactful base, which the PB-1000 goes down to 19hz. With a hz test on the subs I have now, they fall off at 25hz. I know sound is subjective, but i'm sure Joe or someone on here will be able to help me with this dilemma.
Thanks!!
Most SVS subs will outperform computer subwoofers and inexpensive subs by a lot! Don't forget to check out Monolith too! They make some great THX subs at a good price.
Idk, I'd take HSU or Rythmik in a heardbeat!
I haven't tried those so I can't speak on that
You pay more for SVS but you get a better warranty, customer support and features (like the app). Hsu and Rythmik are better if you need the best bang for buck though.
SVS's demo rooms at CES always sounded boomy, with little defined bass.
Setting up rooms at a trade show is an art in itself. It's tough!
@@joentell It is set-up to impress the audio naive.
Do yo udo coke off that finish?
Not my thing, but I'm sure there are folks that would! How pissed would they be if they were ready to go and I started bumping some 20hz tones!. 🤣🤣🤣
@@joentell lol I love what you said , it's like you can't have a hobby like coke with an addiction of audiophile ;-P
Coke might leave ring marks on the finish and slop all over 😂
Lovin my Pair of PB-1000's for $950
Had those, traded for dual SB3000.
What difference did you experience?
@@joentell much more musical. Very seamless pairing with my Ohms. Much faster. Still great with movies and TV. Seems deeper and cleaner. I have the Outlaw RR2160 receiver crossed over at 100hz. Even though the Ohms are rated to 47 hz. It lets the Ohms breathe easier. IMHO LOL. They are just so nice. It May be all in my mind!
Might be good and now occupy a place that Velodyne used to back in the day but company has questionable ethics - see controversy vis a vis Audioholics.
i dont think a flat response is THAT important, since room gain and room modes have way more impact to the bass than a few db more or less here an there.
You are correct that room gain and room modes can affect the response a ton. Also, bass management on most modern AVR's can help flatten out a response. I still think it's important to start with a flat response in either case. A sub with a poor response will likely be made worse due to room interaction, not better. Room EQ and bass management can only help so much.
I think most budget subs are a bit underpowered and so they tune their enclosures for high output rather than (loudness) rather than low frequency extension.
You're room itself has more effect on bass and can effectively make a good sub sound like crap and a smaller shitty sub sound good. Some of thebigger subs from SVS sound much better in bigger rooms. It's putting out so much low end it is possibly passing you by and you won't hear the bass. I've had junk 15 inch woofers in speakers sound beautiful just because of the room it was in. The room I have now is VERY hard to hear low frequencies but yet all the walls are shaking and making racket. You need wood floors in my opinion. Every room I've heard that was excellent was wood. This place I went to had a room built that cost 15K and was sound proof, 2 doors.... dead silent inside and sounded absolutely insane. The subwoofer was some THX 12 inch sub but sounded better than anything I've ever heard just because of the room. SVS blows those subs out of the water but in a crappy room, nothing can really help that much. Get sound some treatment if you can... that does help with echo.
Their stock amps aren't shiity like Klipsch's garbage. 20 years of experience a former tech told me, & the main reason customers switched to another sub was because the amps kept failing. They've been making them soo compact, that the parts overheat at a rapid rate. He explained it was basically every unit he ever worked on. They all failed nearly under the same circumstances...It's why I told Klipsch I can't trust the product to perform, so I switched to SVS~
one day.... but most likely just pipe dreaming
You gotta dream before you get it. Anticipation is part of the fun.
ive had 3 svs subs and their reliability was awful i would get a year or 2 use then suffer power supply failure
I tell you the truth why svs is so popular.. They advertise strongly more than any other subwoofer company. , there all over you tube and internet and people would think they are the only great subs. So thats why and the right and quantify of advertisement helps alot....subs that probably better is monolith and HSU research , M&k paradigm. All of these dont advertise at all...Svs is great and so are the ones i named.
The price is the only downfall on anything SVS. They make nice stuff but it opens the door to a lot of other options. Perfect example would be the Klipsch 10s bundle that is almost half the price of this single unit. But you get 2 powered 10s for under $700. Bang for the buck is a factor.
Yes, but I'm pretty sure 2 Klipsch 10's might have more output (loudness) but I doubt they will go as low and that's important to me. My fellow CZcamsr, Youthman, did a comparison between SVS subs and a pair of Klipsch subs. He did measurements too. For me, the difference between a sub hitting 27hz (Klipsch 10") and 18hz (SVS 13" SB 3000) is HUGE! I want my sub to hit a minimum of 20hz since hitting all of the sub-frequencies is its primary purpose.
This will blow those Klipsch out of the water.
Please don't do premieres :(
Why not? What's the difference? Honest question. CZcams recommends that creators do premieres. It doesn't matter to me either way.
@@joentell I feel the same way. It is just very frustrating when i see a notification and think, perfect timing YEAH!, for then to read: start in 30 min or whatever. By those 30 min, i have completely either forgot, not have time or already gone far down the YT algorithm rabbit hole 😂I suppose it will take me some time to get used to that new feature. Entertaining video, keep up the good work!
You can have it remind you I think. I think you can add it to your watch later playlist.
So basically, what you're saying is it's kind of a big tease.
@@joentell Yes basically, sorry about my clumsy explanation, not native English speaker. I just feel it is a step back in tech. I have this feeling of being back in the 80's and 90's reading the tv schedule and patiently have to wait for the broadcast to start. Same turd, new wrapping. That along with all the commercials made my tv litterally fly out the window years ago 😂 Not keen on a repeat. I WANT THE GOOD STUFF the second it is posted Sir, I hope you take it as an compliment.
@@John_Longbow I just like interacting live with viewers. Doing premiers allows me to do that. It goes back to a normal video after it's over anyway.
Top selling subwoofers? Top 15: 5 of them are Klipsch, SVS doesn't make the list until the 15th spot, they are not popular and are overpriced!
$399 JBL SUB just out ranked the SVS on ezvids
Interesting. Which model?
@@joentell
JBL LSR310S
Thank you. I'll take a look now.
Update: looking at the specs (power output and frequency response) it doesn't look like it will outperform the SVS SB1000, SB2000 or SB3000. The ported version go deeper and have even more output.

They're good at that too. After making this video, I was like, damn, I forgot to mention that. They're everywhere it seems. But they really do make a good product.
My fellow CZcamsr Youthman is reviewing the Monoprice Monolith subs. I'm curious how those compare.
@@joentell I bought a SVS ported 12 inch in 2006 right when they were starting up. NSD model maybe? it was huge
