Thank you so much for this; you make a valid point, it did have a lot of different elements for sure. We are just glad the rain came out ok, despite the slight mic adjustment.
@@wtaenychow did you do this? Are you a train operator or did the operator let you put some sort of camera on the coupler. Either way⌠i love this video. Very interesting!
Every time I watch these videos I cannot wait for my vacation in July boy do I miss the New York City subway
Nothing like hearing NYC trains along the tracks. These videos makes me relax. Which is why I love transit. Greetings from SLC, Native New Yorker, Bus Operator.
Thank you so much for your service to NYC while you were a B/O. We are honored that you are able to experience home again while also being able to find comfort with the train sounds. We hope we can continue to earn your support and again, thank you for all you have done for the city in the past. đŤĄ
Nice! I still remember when it was elevated out to 168th st and the old rickety platforms!
Thank you for sharing that memory; we are sure lots of folks didnât know about that.
@@wtaenyc Yes I remember the last years as child.
You should do 5 and 6 train respectively, as those are the two train lines that people use most, outside from the 7, N, Q, R, E, and L lines
Thank you so much for your suggestions.
Maybe where you live thatâs not the case for the entire cityâŚ..

@@KSUOwlNation yeah, itâs the busiest line on the west side
Your videos make me miss trains with front windows so much...I'm grateful for my memories of discovering and appreciating the infrastructure that makes everything work as I grew up. It's so easy to take these things for granted, which is what allows the powers that be to cut corners when it comes to maintaining and improving the system. If you do a bad job maintaining streets and highways, drivers notice and complain. If you do a bad job maintaining a rail system, passengers decide the train crew just felt like being late today or whatever, instead of demanding the system be treated with respect so it can continue to work and even improve over time.
We appreciate you for taking the time to share your valid opinions and thoughts about the situation and how things can be improved. We will continue to send positive blessings to all those folks who can make the necessary change, so as to make this system become the most spectacular one in the world. Itâs a pleasure to bring you back to the days when looking out the front window was a blessing to, like you stated, enjoy the views of the fantastic infrastructure that keeps NYC, âthe city that never sleeps.â This is why we stand by saying that âNew York City is Underground,â which ties into how everything works.
i left nyc in 97. i remember (i think) standing in the front car watching on the E train at least. probably the m or the z too?
you should now do the w and z trains
I enjoyed every minute of this super relaxing episode. The rain experience really added something special. Thank you...
And thank you for your kind words. Weâre happy that you appreciated the rain as we were nervous about how it would have been received. Thanks again and we appreciate your support.

Excellent video. Haven't ridden the 15, QJ, J, and KK to visit my cousins, uncles, and aunts in Brooklyn since the mid '70s. Memories. And Mister Softee theme, too. A+
Itâs an honor to bring you back to those fond memories you shared, especially the Mister Softee; That was a bonus. Thank you so much for sharing.

Okay, I am loving the new intro!! And the J, I could feel 111th Street from here. That is where I grew as a young kid.
Thank you so much. Itâs a pleasure to bring you back home and to your childhood days.
First, I enjoy your narration on the line, for someone that has not travelled the line that explains it well. Second, the sound of the rain while standing at station cool and the street sounds below. Lastly I see Mister Rat made his customary cameo in the production. Only in NYC. Great job, thanks for the ride. Happy Holidays.
Sending positive blessings to you and your family, especially this holiday season. We truly appreciate your comment and happy you were able to enjoy the ride, even with the cameo appearance.

Thanks for all the great videos! Been watching since the beginning and a year and a half ago, I moved from my birth city of New York to Washington, D.C. for university. The Washington Metro is really cool but the NYC Subway is truly special. Watching these videos reminds me of home and very relaxing at a time like this before finals haha. Thanks so much for the relaxing content, and keep up the great work! The J Train specifically was always one of my favorites because you get to see so much of Queens and Brooklyn above ground, not to mention the excellent views from the Williamsburg Bridge.
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this amazing comment. It is truly an honor that our video is able to bring you, "back home," while your are away. We want to send you nothing but positive blessings as you take the courageous challenge of expanding your knowledge by attending University; we are sure you will overcome any challenge and we are proud of you for making that step. Thank you again for sharing and we have to agree with you as the J is truly one of the unique trains in the system. Happy holidays to you and the family.
Definitely one of my favorite lines to say the least! Remember when the J still had the R32 and R42's running back in 2018. Miss being able to experience this view in-person when the RFW still existed. Not to mention, these cars on the old elevated structures created a vibe that was on another level.
@@ndudeYT well said. it truly is unfortunate and those classic trains were definitely fun to ride.

I just love how a good portion of the iron that's holding up some of the most modern subway cars also held up Forney steam locomotives and wooden el cars. Just for perspective, that bumper just east of Van Sicklen has spanned three centuries, itself.
You have pointed out something that we can see how it is definitely overlooked; we appreciate you for doing so. Thank you also, for sharing that information about the bumper you saw; three centuries is an extremely long time indeed.

The sounds are truly sensational and we are honored that youâre able to enjoy and appreciate both the sounds and content. We canât wait for you to experience the Q train so you can marvel at the newly built 2nd Avenue area.

J train extension! YayyyyâŚ
The J train would go south from Jamaica Center, ending up along Guy R. Brewer Boulevard.
Along Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in a circular-like tube.
Underground.
First stop-
109 Av - accessible, island platform, ordinary design, and connection to the Q111, Q113, and Q114 bus services.
The station would spam from 108th Avenue to 109th Avenue, because more residents live near 108th Avenue, while there are more connections at 109th. So, it is basically two birds in one stone. I guess station could be: 108-109 Avs.
Along Guy R. Brewer Boulevard, underground and fast.
Next station-
Linden Blvd - accessible, side platform, nice designs, and connection to the X63, Q111, Q113, and Q114 bus services.
Along Guy R. Brewer Boulevard.
Next stop-
Foch Blvd - accessible, side platform, ordinary design, and connection to the Q111, Q113, Q114, and QM21 bus services.
Along Guy R. Brewer Boulevard.
Next stop at-
130 Av - accessible, side platform, ordinary design, and connection to the Q111, Q114, and QM21 bus services.
Along Guy R. Brewer Boulevard, underground and fast.
Next station--
137 Av - accessible, side platform, ordinary design, and connection is available to the Q111, Q113, Q114, and QM21 bus services.
Along Guy R. Brewer Boulevard.
The tunnel would be circular-shaped again, as the line is going under Belt Parkway, and the parkway is below Guy R. Brewer Boulevard.
The next and last stop-
Farmers Blvd - accessible, side platform, cool designs, and connection is available to the Q3, Q111, Q113, and Q114 bus services.
I have another planned extension, but Iâll do that later.
But for now,
Buh - Bye!

Thank you for this wonderful video! 111th st was one of my old childhood haunts, still hoping LIRR Rockaway branch can be rehabilitated one day! Hearing the Mr Softee Ice Cream truck Jingle at Cleaveland St was a Bonus!! This vid Made me aware of how many of those Equipment buildings there are along the route, super makes me curious as to what the majority of them are for! Bway Junction is So Central to everything ive loved about my time there! Lindsey Park Hi-rise buildings around Lorimer are another of my old haunts, absolutely loved seeing them from this angle! Loved hearing the Rain too! Super impressed with how clean the video remained even while barreling through the rain!! (Kinda wild that the camera got Swimmers Ear!!)(Oh whoa! What was that pattern on the side of the one train going the opposite direction on the Williamsburg Bridge??) I see Canal St seems to finally have gotten a bit of a makeover, and Chambrrs looks way better! Thank you Thank you for bringing me back to my childhood! (Back then the M went all the way down to Stillwell via New Utrecht, so longing to see a train go past Broad Street again!)
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such an amazingly detailed comment. Itâs great that you were able to catch all the things you mentioned, and just as great as it was to hear Mr. Softly, it was equally great that our camera quality remained intact, despite the unfortunate swimmerâs ear. We are happy you are able to notice the positive changes that have been made so far and send them positive blessings that they will continue to improve. Things may not be the same but itâs still a pleasure to bring you back those awesome childhood memories. Sending you and your family some positive blessings; especially during this holiday season.
@@robroy6374 Thanks for the correction!
Very interesting how you were able to keep the camera dry during the rain. And one thing I noticed that was not included in the other videos - captions showing local stations bypassed by the express. Will this be a feature in future videos? It would be great if past videos could be updated to include this feature. Many thanks again for these great videos!
Thank you for making that awesome suggestion. We will take it into consideration and try to see what can be done. We appreciate you for noticing and pointing that out as well. As for the rain, we apologize for the mic getting water clogged but itâs a blessing that the camera remained clear, despite being hit with the rain.
As much as I do like the line, J Trains probably has the darkest tone it just feels so bare. The J is a line that travels through a very suburban area and is very old. Iâm glad we got to take a look back at this line again.
Thank you for taking the time out to share. Every train does has it own unique things about it for sure. We appreciate you for sharing your opinion/view on this line.
The j train does go through East New York, Jamaica Queens and Bushwick/Bedstuy so it goes through some rough hoods

The rain is beqautiful... Wish I was there, all we got is several inches of snow and closaed interstates.
Ah, the J train. I asked, you answered! Thanks.

I almost missed it but good thing is I watched some of it.
We hope it didn't disappoint.
That was so cool with the rain and all keep them coming, maybe you can do the staten island railway one day as a tribute to all staten islanders wink wink đ
Great suggestion. We will definitely consider this and we are happy you appreciated the video.
Interesting camera level, I am guessing it was fastened to the coupler since it is below train floor height. I spent a lot of time in the BMT East when I was new as a motorman. The J only went to 121st St when I started as a Conductor in '88. I never cared for the J, too many timers and I didn't like the relay at Broad St. The camera is very steady and smooth, I liked this video. Brought back memories of a sore wrist from the 160 controller LOL. I've been retired since 2015, an left NYC in 2017. Nice to see the city again after so long.
Itâs an honor to show you the city the way you used to see it as a former motorman. Weâd like to say, âThank you for your service to NYC; we owe you our gratitude.â Sending positive blessings to you and your family and we hope we are able to keep your support. Great observation for the angle by the wayđŤĄ
That was awesome and with the rain in it. Wow lots of trash before Essex st. nasty..! I would guess next will be 5-6-C-Q or W trains.
Thank you so much. Weâre glad you were able to enjoy the rain. Itâs unfortunate that you were able to see so much trash. As folks start putting their trash into the bins instead of on the tracks, it would help aid in creating the cleanest system that we deserve; after all, this is NYC

Iâll also suggest the 6 train. Especially if you capture it as it loops through the old City Hall station in lower Manhattan.
Thank you so much for the suggestion. We canât wait for you to see the 6 experience.
Is this an original BMT 1880's structure? Why was the Myrtle Ave El torn down? And what is the deal with the inconsistent 3rd middle track on this line?
Great observation and questions. As to WHY, we would love if the right folks could answer that question for you, as we are not quite certain as to the reasons behind that. The 3rd middle track is possibly inconsistent due to the island platforms at the stations where passengers are able to board either the uptown or downtown train.
Nice track speed on the elevated straightaways. The ice cream truck (?) at Cleveland St was a nice bonus. But why don't they remove that rusty, unused overhead structure after Alabama Av?
We imagine they will do so when they have the necessary resources to make it possible. We canât wait to see their plans for the future.
How do you get these perspectives? Iâve been wondering for a while now.đ
Great question. We are a team that has the necessary resources to make this possible. We truly hope you are able to enjoy the content and be sure to be thankful to the NYCT employees, if you do.
Can you do 7 local Manhattan bound please! Also can you also add the the date the videos are taken in the descriptions! That would be cool if you do! Thanks đ
Great suggestion. We canât wait for you to experience it.
The (J)uliette is another favorite line that I like to do. I have the easiest time working the line. It's only when I get to Broad Street that's a bitch I have to be in my conductor have to get the home was mostly out of the train so we can relay the train to go back to Jamaica Center. Of course the 3 slow sections the Crescent Street S Curve, Going from Alabama Avenue to Broadway Junction, And going from Marcy Avenue to the Williamsburg Bridge are pretty tedious sometimes.
Thanks for sharing. We can definitely see how it can be slightly tedious, to go through your experiences the way you mentioned but either way, we take this time to thank you for your service to this city. Itâs truly appreciated. đŤĄ

Since the tracks are in the center of the bridge, you don't get the million dollar view of the East River like you would from the Manhattan Bridge.45:42 The former trolley terminal off through the beams to the left.47:33 The newer connection to the Christie Street connection for the 6th Ave IND, now used by the M train.50:55 Oh my gawd, CHAMBERS STREET ! 47:32 where do those tracks lead to ?
Great observation and question. Those tracks are for the M train, as it makes its way towards its journey through Manhattan and into queens. Feel free to take a look at the M video to Forest Hills, watching from 27:57.
That M train on the Williamsburg Bridge was wrapped in an advertissement!
She wasâŚhow do you feel about that idea?
What day was this đŽ?
My God,even Mr Softee got into the act đŚ
Made the video worth watching.
Could You do Z to Jamaica Center
Thank you so much for the suggestion.
my uncle has a furniture store right under Gates Ave station
People say the J train is slowest line, I saw none of that in this video
AND it was raining while you were filming? Somebody pinch me!
We apologize for the audio being distorted.
My Home Line
Howâd you like it?

Great observation
Back in the mid sixties I rode this train from Broad Street to the end of the line, I remember the last stop as track, platform, track above ground, canât recall the name of the station. Now the last stop is under ground. Does anyone remember it like me?
Thank you so much for sharing this; this history lesson as we are sure they are many that arenât familiar with that situation. Weâd love to hear from others who also share this same memory. đŤĄđŤĄ
The original last stop on the elevated structure of the J train was 168-street and Jamaica Avenue before being demolished in the mid to late 70âs.
@@tombarzey7964 Thanks, for awhile there I thought I was having a memory issue! đđ
@@philpotestio9887 you're very welcome. It's great to still remember certain things even if you can't get it right away.
Lol Ice cream truck 19:26
I always hear this sound as someone who lives near broadway juction xD since there is a very big park nearby but that park like closed for some time for some reason so i couldnt play L childhood wasted
Also Ice Cream sounds I hear then so much at night I cannot sleep and also airplane sounds
It saddens us to know that you have to endure all the unfortunate situations that you mentioned. We are pleased that you were at least able to see your home station, from this view.
Is there another station after broad street?
the tracks continue and then they diverge. the left side are layup tracks and the right continues into brooklyn via the montague street tunnel, where the brown m train used to run over a decade ago.
How do you think the trains go to the train yard xd
Actually, the J no longer uses those tracks as the train yard it uses is back in Brooklyn. You may not have known this and for that we wonât fault you. We hope youâre able to return the favor to others that arenât as knowledgeable as you. đŤĄ
Only time riding the subway is an experience is when drama pops off lol
Everyone is entitled to your opinion. Weâre more focused on the fact that thereâs a train at all because who knows what life would be like without it. Itâs understandable if our values donât necessarily align and we appreciate you for sharing yours, either way. đŤĄ
@@wtaenyc pretty sure life would still be just as normal if there wasnât a train. Ya drive, ya fly, hop the bus. Iâm just saying riding the subway is not an experience unless something pops off on the train or in the station lol
Nice ride but sad to see the graffiti still around this day and age, but nice to see not so much trash on the tracks except coming off the bridge into Manhattan, otherwise I enjoyed the video, nice & clear good camera angle. Please post more
We appreciate you for sharing and we cannot wait until the system becomes the cleanest, safest, fastest and most spectacular system in the world.
@@wtaenyc No it is the most spectacular system in the world, it's the graffiti artists (and I use the word "artists" lightly) that are not! I grew up in Brooklyn NY "for 46 years" rode the subway every day, I miss it. My father was a conductor.
Why are all your tunnels lit up now? It was always dark there before.
The system is slowly but surely making more and more improvements as time goes along. We can only expect it to become one of the most spectacular in the world
I really miss nyc
I really want to go to the summer but i really want to go to see the rockets and visit my old school I went in nyc
I went to
Long Beach Ny
Franklin k lane high school
I hope they let me enter to the school if I had the old Id and yah I still have that id
We imagine your next trip will be quite an experience and we are sure you will get all the things done that you want to accomplish. đŤĄđŤĄ
I just to live in nyc thatâs why I know places some of them
Except I didnât have a experience with Long Beach area to long I was there like before 2010 came
I move to Puerto Rico to nyc like 2006 and moved to Rochester Ny like 2009 that was like a little experience not long because I remember if Iâm correct their was a blizzard or big snow storm in 2008? And I do remember because during that time on toon Disney aka now Disney XD was premiering Cinderella3 and I didnât know their was a 3rd Movie I thought they skip Cinderella2 but I found their was a sequel
I was wrong it was 2006 to 2007
It was kinda 1 year ago
And yah it was short
I think the only positive thing about the J and Z trains is that it is known for sounding just like the singer, Jay-Z. Other than that, itâs inconvenient because skip-stop service is too confusing. Plus, it wouldnât be possible to travel to the next station since the trains are alternating stops. Thereâs a provision for a center express track so an express service could be convenient and it would make it much faster to travel between Lower Manhattan and Jamaica. This provision is also found on the New Lots Line but I think the Jamaica Line needs it more.
Thanks for sharing đŻđŤĄ
As soon as you approach the Manhattan portal the garbage on the tracks is disgusting.
How do you suppose we change that?
I wander how the people sleep at night with the trains outside their windows
Once when I went to NYC to see family, i found out My Mom and Stepdad at this time had moved into a cheap apartmemt right next to the tracks: cool, i thought! They put me up in the master bedroom right next to the tracks, me Not realizing that the windows were not double paned: that night i went to sleep: and i Promptly fell out of bed the first time the train passed by, not realizing how Loud that was gonna be!! I had wondered why they were sleeping in the smaller room next to the kitchen!! XD (they dont live there anymore)
Itâs truly amazing that they are able to live there, while having to endure the noise. We can only hope that their windows are insulated and as the system continues to improve, it would become quieter, so those folks can get a peaceful nightâs rest.

How fast are these Trains allowed to travel?
I think it depends from train to train
Its around 40-50 mph i think, yeah its slow cuz you can go faster on a car
Thank you for asking. Each train varies and certain sections are faster than others due to the grade but usually trains are able to reach at least 44mph on a straight track. One of the fastest speeds we have experienced has been over 60mph.
@@wtaenyc Awesome! Thanks for the knowledge!
Does the train operator know you're doing this?
We are a team that has the necessary resources to make this possible. We hope you are able to appreciate the work and efforts being done to make this all possible.
I see no R143s on the J during the ride
Great observation
