I swear I like him more because he picks at his pants the whole interview. He’s a real human, not a robot musician. He’s so relatable in so many ways.
Agreed.
instablaster...
I concluding after hearing only 3 of his songs that he was the best modern day country music artist of my time
Tyler has a distinct style that grabs your heart. He will be the best performer of our time. Thank God for him.
I LOVE YOU, TYLER. You are my favorite singer. You are an amazing songwriter from a poet/songwriter/writer. My nephew plays at Johnny Cash’s bar. I. Knew Johnny and June when I WAS REALLY YOUNG.
Being from Boyd County Kentucky, Tyler has been an influence for me getting into playing Bluegrass since I got out of the Army. He speaks for a lot of us Eastern Kentuckians.
Absolutely!
And southwestern Virginians lol we have a lot in common with eastern Kentucky
@@Kalashnigoon thanks
The interviewer got his hipster starter kit on
VFL Hahahaha. That he did!!
'Twas my first thought.
Honestly if he didn't have the damn hat
haha! Every time I hear his english accent and see that cowboy hat... :shakes head:
That ain't no cowboy hat son
The acoustics in that room didn't do him justice. He's a hell of a performer. Ok they must have had real bright light on him too. I could sit and listen for hours....
About time he got the recognition This man is a legend!!!
Id love to see what Tyler and benjamin todd aka lost dog street band could do together 🤔
Michael A. Green this should be the top comment
Mind blown. That would be everything.
Theyd prolly just yell at eachother
Go see him live. Saw him in March for $20 in Pittsburgh. Going to Philly in Oct. The cheap days will be over soon. His band the Food stamps are amazing too
Absolutely. Got tickets for one of the Atlanta shows coming up in Dec. Just stumbled across Tyler and several others lately. Blown away is too mild. Looking around for others that make music like this. Hopefully he and others will kill off "bro" country soon.
Chris Brooks check out Colter Wall, Cody Jinks, the Wooks, lots of folks keeping the O in Country😎
Thanks. Found Colter and Cody after Tyler. I'll check out the Wooks. Appreciate the tip.
Going to see him in two weeks!!!
Got to see him about three months back in Salt Lake, I've been going to a few shows a month since I was young and his show with Lillie Mae was fuckin Magic. Absolutely incredible show, he was back this last month opening for Jack White but I didn't have the money to go. Really hoping I get to see him again in the near future. If you get the chance don't miss it
I like how he still gives zero fuck and still dresses the exact same. Some people make it mainstream with great looks, auto tone and a little talent. This guy had made it on his hard work, talent and a little luck.
Hope they appreciated you as much across the pond as we do here. Great job
We do! He’s incredible!
And it all came back around to the story of his uncle golfing with willie nelson...
His great uncle from Dayton, Ohio.
My hometown. My family is from Floyd County KY, coal miners who came to Dayton for work in the 60s. The East KY Southwest OH connection is powerful.
Powerful connection indeed. I grew up in small town outside of Dayton, all us boys from school had southern Ohio, E Kentucky or WV roots.
I think it’s awesome that having only started out with the few chords his dad’s buddy taught him, it turned into a versatility and understanding of that fret board. Try as I may and pray as I might for nimble fingers on the Six string; I find the language of melody can only be learned through the intimacy of time. I appreciate Tyler’s format and real approach. I really liked this interview if that’s whatcha wanna call it. Tyler is a character and I appreciate the texture in a world full of cookie cuts.
I’m know his stuff isent complicated as a guitar player, but that’s exactly what’s good about it! That being said what is better is the perfect rhythm! His voice is an instrument fur sure!
He is still only playing just the same few chords he is just doing a lot with a little. Lots of embellishments and hammer on's. Lot's of feeling as well.
Would love to hear him to the entire Red Headed Stranger album
He says Papaw just right.
😂😂😂😂😂
@James Bowling he really is. He was born in eastern Kentucky and by watching other interviews and listening to his songs you can tell he is
Notice his eyes when he says pawpaw. He holds him close.
Been following him since about 2014 and it’s been absolutely amazing watching him get to where he is at purely off he’s talent .. great songwriter and picker !!
i hope to see him soon, friggin pandemic. i’m in florida pray for us all, it’s a free for all here lol
I sure hope Willie and Sturgill bring you in the Outlaw Tour!
Kim R so funny they are touring together this year
Funny story; I’m going to see them together next month!
@@robertreed5343 I was thereee in va, an amazing experience!!
This guy is good. Went to see John prime June 2019 and he was backup. Love his voice very different. He was a big surprise. Love his music.
Love, Love, Love Tyler Childers!!! That voice is amazing. He seems to have gotten into my mind and memories....
Never fails to amaze..love it..
What an amazing genuine talent! Good music is still alive
Beautiful Collings D-12, and the songs, too...
I’m just a few counties from Lawrence county we love your music here bub keep it up.
From Charleston, WV. Love his music, his song Charleston girl is a dead ringer for many girls I went to high school with.
Absolutely beautiful!
Have you ever met willie nelson i like this song i listen to you all the time your music calms me and makes me wish i was in Kentucky or somewhere in the mounntains with a log cabin sitting in a rocking chair listening to you sing or maybe even doing the 2 step
Tyler, your music has been so life changing for me. I’m an aspiring writer & I find myself lost in your lyrics. Thank you for being out there, amazing us all. ❤️🎶
It truly is amazing. All these years I thought I hated country because of the radio. Somehow came across tyler and cody jinks and Benjamin Todd and my whole world changed haha.

I wish he came to play in Spain, Lucky you are in UK. Tyler Childers, best act un town... Legend
I like that he wears work pants everwhere. Grown Kentucky adult man stuff there.
We all wear carhartt here, lol.
KY girl here and I thought the same thing! It was so apparent to see that the host was trying to emulate a hard working southern man with his outfit when you look at Tyler, an actual hard working southern man
The interviewers hat looks like it’s from a child’s cowboy Halloween costume
Killer Tyler! Love the slope Collings!
It's great to see him making his way into some dough. God knows he deserves it, and that I'd have that Collings if I could!
Yes it is! I have a D2H, picked up on the slope right off the bat!
Tyler Childers is so genuine and real and very talented to. The interviewer did not ask the question his fans want to hear.
what is that question?
Yeah I'm curious what you mean. I thought this was a great interview, coming from a big fan
hard disagree, great interview
God bless America
Holy shit!! That was unexpected!
He kills it. Anybody else notice he got the lyrics wrong to the Willie song on the last verse. He swapped the line from a reprise on Red Headed Stranger for the original line “and the lesson’s begun.”
Matthew Hoyle probably intentional
@@jackonotobacco5288 Killing begun. Yep. It's what I'd say during such an awkward interview. Tyler did fine. Interviewer not to good.
I doubt he, as you put it "got the lyrics wrong". Seeing as how the sections of verse were switched it was probably done purposefully.
I think Tyler wants to make fun of the interviewer
You’ve got a boy on the left and a man on the right
@@samcooper8924 Agreed.
@@mikefields4136 Foreigners don't go to Kentucky because most of it is a shithole.
@@TheDarkhorse228 dont come to KY then...easy answer
@@mikefields4136 Nobody does, they either leave or die there.
What would you guys say is Tyler's audiences category? I'd say old souls
Cheerio!
Rumor has it that flannel shirt was made from the blanket in Tyler's crib
Giving them Brits some good Appalachia music.
This is what a decent interview looks like
🖤🖤🖤🖤
11 shows in 20 days...😱 Clovis 10:55
Jesus, nice snap shirt skippy.. u from Appalachia by way of Ralph Lauren.
Purgatory is his sophomore not his debut; Bottles & Bibles was his debut album
What brand is tylers shirt?
Is the interviewer wearing leggings?
Probably. Lol Brits, man.
Jeggings🤦♀️
What boots is tyler wearing ?
European Appalachian is driving me crazy!!!! You know Tyler wanted to smack him
Givem hell tyler from a fan in louisa ky
Also, I thought the interview was lame and disconnected from Tyler’s vibe. Just my opinion.
Couldn't agree more. I think the interviewer was intrested in himself. You know, making sure do I look good am I sitting right. Not the right guy to interview Tyler. Tyler childres deserves way more than this guy can give
Clovis, in reference to the first native Americans I believe
Clovis, a Clovis point is actually a Native American arrowhead. There’s an evolution of arrowheads/tips. Definition: Palaeo-Indian culture of Central and North America, dated to about 11,500-11,000 years ago and earlier. The culture is distinguished by heavy leaf-shaped stone spearheads known as Clovis points
No, he is referring to banded Clovis which is a type of rock.
@@yamanator10 banded clovis point, they're worth up to tens of thousands of dollars, not just some rock🙄
@@misplacedhillbilly7594 grog make pointy rock grog stronk
Tyler honey, it's always the ones in the box, that you And maybe your band doesnt think it's good enough but it's the biggest hit you have. Stairway to heaven was the one in the box. Swear it, don't believe me you can find Jimmy page and Robert plant talk about how they thought it was gonna bomb them.
"A-PUH-LA- CHUN"
Exactly
Thank you 😂
Please invite Jason Ricci! :)

Appa-LATCH-in
Exactly
He is amazing..but you guys need to get some better mics or sound guy.
Make art not war 74 it’s a room mic dude. It sounds good for a room mic. Don’t blame the sound guy.
Michael Steven meh . nothing wrong with room mics, there are great albums that rely on them.. but it didn't work for me here. room here doesn't have great acoustics imo
Apple-at-cha
horrible audio jesus.
Surely the interviewer has a neck injury that explains his posture.
Appalacian Hollars where girls walk down and women come out
Hahah, that dude's hat. What a tool.
Yikes to you smh
British dudes being into country and Willie Nelson is beyond strange to me.
Kinda a douche move by the interviewer to almost assume that he was forced to listen to gospel music. Whether he was or not is beside the point.
What you kill Jesse fer, what you kill Jesse fer...mmm-hmm
What you doing with that lawn mower blade, Karl?
Que puedo hace para deciflamar lS encillas
These er the worst shoes I own fer walkin.I got a blister the size of a quarter on one heel ...blisters sure do hurt umm hmm
Bahaha! Love that comment! I bet most people don't get it right away, if ever, without explaining it but for those of us who do, it's classic. I was having a crappy day at work till I read that..now I'm smiling. Lol. Awesome movie. Gotta have the right sense of humor to really appreciate it though. Thanks for the laugh! God bless!
Haha glad you enjoyed it, thought it was fitting for this tune
That's a very dirty room.
The interviewer almost makes this unwatchable.
He sounds so much like kurt Cobain:/ just with a folk country vibe. You can tell he really cares about music.
Funny cause i though he would give kurt a run on where did you sleep last night
@@swampjoe1985 haha nice ! I was thinking about that song while listening to this. He comes really close to the same passion but when they played unplugged in NewYork kurt had the most passion i have ever heard. Especially in the last verse, it gives me chills watching it. When he goes from night to through opens his eyes for a second and takes that breath while looking up to the sky. Gets me everythime
The interviewer is so strange. He feels almost like something possessing a human body slumping into the chair in a weird posture
Ever notice how none of the country singers still have that ridiculous accent when they talk? Acoustic rocknroll + an accent = country
What ridiculous accent? People talk different ways. Sorry you feel its ridiculous, dude. But I do agree with u
Being from Pike County, KY, then moving to Lawrence County, KY and working everywhere from Florida to Massachusetts to Colorado. I've noticed everywhere I go, people talk with a funny accent. That is until I get back home to Eastern Kentucky. And people talk normal.
He is unpretentious, unlike the dude who is interviewing him. When you have pure unbridled talent you don't have to fake it or dress it up with a hat. Just saying....
Great interview with Tyler childers. But please eject the english patronising guy into outer space 😁
What do these hipsters think when they look in the mirror before walking out their front door?
You have no jam oh my lord
grant quinones are you kidding?? Tyler childers is one of the few making real music these days.
Hope Carlson sugar pie I was kidding
grant quinones ha! Ya got me! Love me some Tyler....
Hope Carlson that was my british impersonation... I'm funny
That poor hat gonna be forgotten in a closet
it's weird seeing a British person trying to be country, lol.
I can not do that annoying British accent
Some UK accents are wonderful. You are right; his is fracking pretentious.
I might have to lay some hillbilly on him and give him a pull from my corn lick-her jug.
this dude got cookie-cutter hipster written all over it... man... come on... was this community service or what?
No! Not Simpson!
This is not a good version of this old Willie Nelson ballad. Listen to the *Sam Lewis* 'bluesy version to see how good it can be in a beautiful, nuanced voice. czcams.com/video/PyFemLaOmMk/video.html Lucinda Williams's guitarist, Kenny Vaughan is on guitar.
I mean he kind of made it his own. The dude has a pretty genuine voice, like Willie. But the sound quality is shit for sure.
Why the hell is he screaming? That doesn't make it better. A good song doesn't need exaggerated vocals. That's what you do to make up for a weak song. That's something that Whitney Houston never figured out.
You might be a dumbass.
it's called real emotion. def not screaming
Where's your video of u playing and singing, asshole
do not be so emotional Adam. It makes you sound like a puss.
oh and what one of us listens to Whitney Houston, oh yeah only you! puss!
