Notes and disclaimer from Excellent Miniatures:
The specific miniatures shown in this video are from Forest Dragon 3D (the files are not available anymore, but the prints are). All other Noble Elves are not from Forest Dragon but designed inhouse (some with the help of Ilhadiel).
When clicking on a product you will find a line saying "more products from ..." and then the name of the designer / sculptor.
We feature work from a lot of designers and also create our own stuff.

I'm finding out other people's "speed painting" is my "regular painting". 😂 They look fantastic.
Haha yeah I guess I gauge speed on my usual painting speed lol 😂
This is fantastic! I’ve only just discovered Warmaster so it’s wonderful to find painting content on CZcams. I look forward to seeing more!
Ahh thank you. And don’t you worry more will be coming 😀
I just acquired the Warmaster rules and was was looking for some decent fantasy 10mm. I didn't realise Excellent Miniatures had Bretonnians in their empire of man range. It is very useful watching this as I haven't painted smaller than 28mm for years!
Ahh thank you really glad it has been of help. Yeah Excellent Miniatures do a fantastic range and its only getting bigger :)
Those look gorgeous, looking forward to seeing more of them painted.
Thank you 🙏 yeah I’m getting through them quite quickly 😀
love it! the contrast is amazing. Ive seen lots of great work done on those high elves!
Thank you for the kind comments :) Yeah they are really nice miniatures and easy to paint. Going to be doing a Dragon Rider next I think the old GW sculpt :)
They look amazing! Great work! I hope to see a presentation of your entire army someday.
Thank you Stefan, haha yeah its been a little slow going but will for sure do an army showcase once finished :)
Absolutely lovely. Great clean and effective painting. Looks amazing ranked up.
Cheers mate. They really are such lovely models to paint 😀
They look great! I'll definitely check back to this tutorial when mine arrive.
Yeah please do. Really glad its been of help.
A lovely little guide Jonny. You have done those lovely scuplts justice, even with a speedpaint. 10mm really lends itself to this style of painting imho
Thanks mate. Yeah totally agree I just couldn’t spend time trying to put 3 sets of highlights and shading on something this size.
Gorgeous job Jonny!
Cheers Dan 😀
Cracking job Jonny they look great
Cheers thank you 🙏
Very nice Jonny. They came out really well. 👍
Ahh cheers mate thank you :)
Just one word: Amazing!
Thank you. Hope this video has helped in some way 😊
I see it now, and I love it, the rise of content for Warmaster and 10mm figures. Great job man, being easy and fast does not equate lower quality, and I'm glad to see two ranks of figures in each base.
Thank mate. Im absolutely loving Warmaster at the mo, It can be a big adjustment from painting 28mm but personally I enjoy it :)
@@JonnyWatsonGaming Awesome, hope I have a chance to jump on this soon as well.
Thanks for tutorial! I'll check it tomorrow on my tiny elves.
No worries hope it’s been of help 😀
Oh I'd love to see more warmaster painting tutorials! This is excellent.
Thank you and yes more to come. Next one will be painting Elven Archers :)
@@JonnyWatsonGaming fantastic! One of the "barriers" I have heard from folks getting into warmaster is getting used to the idea that shading and highlighting at this scale is different. I think that your video here really hones in on that and was definitely an "ah hah" moment for me to help me get out of my own painting rut.
@@AdamStephens Im really glad the video has helped. Yeah its a very different way of thinking when painting at smaller scales. Dont get me wrong you defiantly can paint in all your shades and highlights like you would at 28mm and there are some really nice paint jobs on the Warmaster FB page with people doing this, but that will take a long time. So for quick sharp snappy results its all about using contrast to your favour. Choose the areas on the model you want to highlight and only give them a 1 bright highlight as in the video and you should get a great looking unit with half the amount of effort :) Hope it works out for you and thank you for the kind words.
i never got into warmaster at the time, and by the time i was actually interested in it, it was too late hehe. Lovely paint job
Thank you. It’s never too late. The Warmaster community is very much alive. There has even been an updated version of the rule. And now with all the 3d printing or companies selling 3d printed 10mm miniatures it’s very easy to get into. 👌
They look great!
Ahh thanks mate
These are lovely, great video.
Ahh cheers mate, I mean to get back onto my Warmaster and get a game in.
I only hope my Imperial Romans turn out so well. I will likely use a very similiar approach but I am using contrast paints for the flesh, cloakes and shields. Those 10mm pointy eared gits look better than my 28mm high elves so nicely done. I am thinking my 10mm romans are going to take an age to paint as there are around 1000 to 1500 of them.
Yeah contrast will work well. Haha well I guess the little gits pass, honestly it’s a very simple paint job just utilising contrast to make the colours pop. Man yeah that’s gonna be some task to do 1500 10mm figures! Best of luck! 🤞 if you have discord please pop into my server and share your progress with them 👍 discord.gg/PxRFzhgP
Nicely done!
Cheers Phil
Second video of your channel that I watch. Great work. I have just subscribed.
Thank you and welcome. Hope you enjoy the content. Plenty more Warmaster to come to :)
Great tutorial Jonny, they look, dare i say it... excellent. Very impressed with these minis and you have done a fantastic job on them
i now have a basket full of high elves and dark elves starter armies, thanks for that
Resisted hitting the buy button so far but no doubt that'll change soon as more videos come lol
Just seen they have Brettonians, this could get painful lol
@@leont66wargaming31 ahh Leon please do it id love to see your vids on them 😀
@@JonnyWatsonGaming lol. The only thing that’s holding me back is that I’d need someone to play against. The price point is pretty good I think for the starter armies. I’ll post some stuff in my gaming club page on Facebook and see if anyone’s up for it.
@@leont66wargaming31 fingers crossed you get into it 😀
Lovely work - definitely a far quicker and easier and just overall more efficient scheme than my own high elves but still hugely effective and gorgeous!
Ahh thank you for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video 👌👍
Очень круто получилось! Спасибо! Музыка на фоне в тему))
Thank you 🙏 glad you enjoyed it 👍
Very nice!
Thank you :)
Thanks Johnny I presume its the Halfords grey plastic spray, I've used it before and it's good thanks for that, also thanks for all the vids on excellent minis, on the back of watching them I took the plunge and ordered 2 starter armies, cheers and keep up the content 😁
Yes that the primer i use. Ahh thank you and i really hope you enjoy your Excellent minis as much as id am :) Yes plenty more vids to come :)
Nicely done sir.
Thank you Jack 😀
Very nice mate they look lovely! Tempting me to get my Warmaster Orcs out ^^;
Please do I’d love to see your take on the game and your army of Orcs 😀
Very nice mate
Ahh cheers mate :)
I wish I could paint miniatures that small, but cursed with shaky hands and bad eyes! They look amazing!!
Ahh cheers mate. The one blessing with small miniatures like these is that you don’t have to go made on detail. Honestly a base coat and a wash is all you need and they will look great. 👌
@@JonnyWatsonGaming Thanks, but I think I would be too much of a perfectionist to leave them like that and then would end up failing. Shame really, as I love the idea of bigger armies on smaller space. Maybe someday I will give it a go. Thanks again.
I love the fantastic effect of 10mm and 6mm minis. I love the effect of small scale so much most of my historical armies are in 2mm. Something about the visual effect makes me irrationally happy. I have been debating whether to get into Microworld 6mm or Warmaster 10mm as of late for mass battle fantasy using the Domains at War Rules.
Yeah small scale gaming is where it’s at! I play ACW in 6mm and least we forget Epic Space Marine. Warmaster is also a great game and perfect if you enjoy the Warhammer Fantasy world 😀
Figures look good.
Yeah they are really nice and easy to paint for the scale 😀
More Warmaster 10mm painting Please!
Haha yeah no worries plenty on its way :)
@@JonnyWatsonGaming Have an instagram for your minis?
@@jfrish6603 Yeah you should be able to find me on jonny_watson_1984
Very nice painted.
Thank you :)
Another good vid - they’ve come out really well. Another very tempting project for the future - especially if they are doing greenskins!
Cheers mate. Well I think they might be doing Greenskins very soon so I hear 😀
it is so small. fantastic work
Haha yeah almost too small lol
These mini's are really cool, good job painting them too.
I have been really wanting to try Warmaster for quite a while now but unfortunately GW no longer supports the game. I might look into buying some Warmaster armies from Excellent Miniatures. I hope that they release ranges for Greenskins and Chaos at some point in the near future too.
Yeah they are lovely miniatures. So I have been talking to the guys at Excellent Miniatures and it looks like they may have a Green skin range coming out soon 😀
Great work, love the video, sorry if I missed it in another comment but what undercoat did you use? Thanks
Thank you. I use a Halfords grey primer to prime the minis 😀
Nice vid. Excellent result! I'm actually just about to start 10mm for the first time, got some vampire lords on the way from Excellent Miniatures. How speedy was your speed painting, how long for the strip?
Thank you. Start to finish one strip takes about 30/45mins i would say give or take a few either way. The command stand will take longer due to doing some freehand on the flag.
These are looking great, very nicely done. I'm also interested in your bases. Do you have a video for them aswell?
Thank you :) Ahh no I dont have a vid on the basing but if its something you want to see? I can do one very easily
Yes please 😌, in this scale I find it hard to make it "realistic" 😏
How do you do those bases, they're really good !
I use mdf bases, apply polyfilla to give the texture. For a rocky elven look I then paint them grey and highlight with a drybrush then apply static grass. Hope this helps.
@@JonnyWatsonGaming Okay, thanks a lot !
@@faolanwolf6434 no worries its a very simple process :)
How long did it take to 'speed paint' these? And given they are 10mm, what more would you have done if you were not speed painting? These look amazing.
I think it takes about a hour to do a stand not taking drying time for the wash stage into account. If I was to spend more time on them I would add in more highlights. Hope the vid has been helpful 😀
@@JonnyWatsonGaming It's been incredibly enlightening.
@@tonyennis1787 perfect 👍 really glad it has helped 😀
You painted them like "oldhammer" style.
Yeah exactly what I’m going for :)
Alternative for vallejo steel 71065?
ill look into this for you
@@JonnyWatsonGaming ?
@@mrcowboy3431 Sorry I thought you where asking for alternatives for Vallejo Steel 71065
Wow why are these no longer available!?
I believe they are from Excellent Miniatures
@@JonnyWatsonGaming I meant as STLs from Forest Dragon. Love their stuff.
@@piesandhiking4943 Ahh yeah that is a shame :(
Nice job. One of the dangers to painting the small scales is that the miniatures end up looking one dimensional. This approach and your color choices avoided that.
Yes totally agree you do have to be carful. Colour choice is important here and getting a simple contract helps pop the miniature :)
Apoth-a-cree. You're English man, don't let the Yankies teach you how to say old words, they always get them wrong! :) Great video though.
Cheers mate 👌
It's nice, but it's faar away fromspeedpainting
Nice guide mate! cant decide who to start with for KOW/Warmaster:/ (Dark elves or Undead)
Also 1 correcrtion the STL's for those minis are from Forest Dragon
Hey man. Yes you are correct they are by Forest Dragon. Excellent Miniatures have the right to sell them. If you ask me go undead! You got to love a skeleton 💀 👌
Just brought the Dark elves xD
I joined the DarkSide lol
Next army will be the Undead for sure :)@@JonnyWatsonGaming
@@gavriel121haha yeah do it!
