my 2023 goal is to take this tutorial and applying it to my whole Wood Elf Army.
I love your tutorials the most on youtube, where there are some really cool how to paints by others, you definitely show how simple you can be without going to technical with hard to get products.
love it!
Building wood elves for 7th edition in 2023. Thank you
Amazing tutorial! Thanks a lot, my glade guard now look beautiful!
Very nice paintjob as always. Thanks for sharing.
Great work man, looks awesome
Awesome. I'm working on a unit of Glade Guard next and I'm definitely going to be using your advice.
Really love your videos, keep up the good work mate
It looks awesome, I wish they would bring back them back they were awesome models to paint and play.🙏😇🇺🇸
Looking real good.
Loving these tutorials man, following them step by step for my army :D cant wait to see some of the more detailed models, like sisters of the thorn and some heroes. keep up the good work man
Thanks man! I'm glad you liked them
your tutos rock ! I couldn't ask for anything better... Thank you, like really really really =DD
Wood elves for eva'
Wonderful!
I just tried to emulate your painting techniques here. I came out with the best miniature I have ever painted. It still looks way worse than yours, but thank you so much for the tutorial! You do a wonderful job explaining step by step and showing each paint color you use and how you apply it.
I love it!! Thank you
Very nice good technique and colour choices. You are an artist bro, thank you and well done. :)
Hey, an amazing Tutorial, the highlighting looks wonderful.
Thanks A Lot :)
Gotta love Hero Forge.
Would love to see your take on treeman ancient
Great tutorial as always, nicely done bud
Cheers Nick! Thanks :)
Thank you
Awesome!!!
hey jsut a quick idea, i like your videos, but maybe if you put a list at the end of each video for like 3-5seconds with what paints/etc you need to do the same thing? good work!
Would you please make a tutorial on painting wildwood rangers? :D
Amazing ! Ive been waiting for an amazing glade guard video for ages ... how long did this model take you ?
Hey Bud, fantastic video!
Was just wondering about the liquitex slow dri fluid retarder you were speaking about, my local shop only had the slow dri fluid blending medium, would that work also? I'm worried it will dry with a gloss finish rather than matte
I know I am a bit late to this video. But thank you this was very helpful!!!
I love it. 2 questions? You only use the citadel brushes, the new ones and how they work. And the second the second why you didnt paint the eyes, not worth it?
Really helpfull
Why did you start use slow dry do paint the edge highlight? Cant understant that part. Thanks
Rely nice guide, I have a lotr wood elf army and this should help me out a lot with them. You wouldn't happen to have any tips on the blending of skin colour on a lotr cave/isengard troll please?
If I start a Warhammer fantasy army I will defo be collecting these elves.
Hi, I was just curious what brand/colour of static grass you're using here. I've seen it before and I like it, but I could never find out what it was so I could get hold of some.
Fantastic tutorials as usual. I mentioned on the comments of Eternal Guard video that it inspired me to start a Wood Elves army so I'm looking forward to more Wood Elves videos... Will you be doing the Wild Riders/Sisters of Thorne soon? As I haven't found a video for either yet
Wild riders for sure, I also have dryads but I think no one likes them. hah. I bougt a bunch 55% off and I didn't know. Not so sure about sisters because I would have to sacrifice one of my wild riders but I might buy a single miniature from ebay to do it.
TheApatheticFish so glad you chose Wild Riders over the Sisters!! Can't wait for that video. I'm not too keen on the driads if im honest but have seen them painted really well. I like the newer Treeman model (with the 3 varients).
I'm really tempted to get the Eternal Guards again and paint them in the alternate Rangers colours too as im really enjoying painting those miniatures.
Love your work
Is the slo dry from liquitex you have a matte finish or a gloss because i could on;y find it in gloss and i really didn't like it
Treeman next? :D
awesome video man, when you say thin the paint at the beginning do you mean you should dilute all the paints you use or just the skin colour at the start?
All paints
How are you painting between the guy and the cloak? I am about to paint my glade guard and there is almost no room between them.
Hello,
i like your Tutorial and because you sounded really excited about the SlowDri of Liquitex, i bought it. How do you use it? Do you just thin down all your paints with it or only the ones, you are highlighting with?
Is it the Slow dri fluid retarder? you can just use it as your thiner instead of water but its recomended not to use too much of it. I've yet to have problems when using too much but I normally don't exceed 50%. I would say I normaly mix a third. or just until I'm happy with the consistency of my paint most of the time.
how do you stick the miniature to the paint bottle while painting it?
There's a few Liquitex slow dry options. Which do you use?
love your vids, but do u think u could a how to paint dark elves?
I'd like to. I just need to get a miniature first. But yeah I'm interested in painting a purple color scheme. I don't collect them and it may take me a little while to get one though.
for your next video you should do death korps of krieg!
Me alegró que hayas continuado con el proyecto. Muy correcta la mini me encanto, si algún día me pongo con los míos perdona por adelantado porque te voy a robar los esquemas xD
Haha no te preocupes. Para eso hago los videos. Gracias por el comentario y mucha suerte con tu ejercito
Your wood elf does not have a dagger why?
Nice tutorial on This treehugging bro
Treebros FTW! haha yeah! Thanks man!
TheApatheticFish how long does it take you to do a unit to this standard dude. the models are grand :)
would a black primer work?
Hi I just got a warhammer army and just so happens to be wood elves in all how Meany paints did you use ?
The paints I used are in the description of the video
looks great that glade guard but why no dry brushing ?
Dry brushing is great for metal and rock, and it gives a brushed/dusty finish. It would look pretty poor on this model, however, which is supposed to impart a sense of precision and neatness. Edge highlighting is a bit better in most ways, basically, except some niche cases (basing for example). It just takes a lot longer.
What he said ^
I'd love to see some bretonnian knights.
Outstanding video....but if I took the time doing a whole army like the standard you've done i'd be waiting for gods second coming.....
Yeah. you have to make compromises and only highlight the parts that you think will make it stand out. maybe basecoat everything and highlight 2 or three things. or none. just basecoat and wash. depends on how much time you want to invest. I just show the complete process so people pick what they like if they like it.
Your work is excellent bro, I have actually finished an imperial guard army and its taken me a year and a half ( sick of the sight of them) I took my time with them but I would only go into that much detail with lots of layers and highlights with champion models etc but at the end of the day it all depends on what you enjoy and your patience.
i'd like to see high elves because i'm getting the Island of Blood
I Wanted to get the set too but im poor right now. I'll see if I can get a spearmen or some high elf warrior
have gw discontinued these?
Hey. Nicely painted, but do you not use primer? and if no why?
He did use primer
Adam Meldgaard he used grey primer I think
airbrushing looks so much better
Great video. What brush are you using for your basecoats? Look great
why do you don't use paint from the pot?
Acrylics and specially acrylics for miniature painting dry extremely fast. Paint straight from the pot dries fast and you end up using very thick paint and leaving a lot of marks losing detail. You have to thin down your paints at least a bit so that you can have more time to work and apply the color in smoother layers. The thiner the paint the more layers you need but the smoother the finish. You need to let layers dry completely first before applying more
Hi, liquitex slow isn't toxic man? use gloves in the future, it's for your own health.
Games Workshop discontinued them in 2019, now the only aleves / elves with bows in the warhammer universe are Shadow Warriors which are like Dark Elves which S U C K S B A L L S
very nice tutorial but i prefer crossbows :)
everything was awesome except that neon green stuff you used to highlight , that has to go. but either then that it's a beautiful peace.
to each eye their personal taste ;)
Bowstring?
There are tutorials on youtube to attach bowstrings. However bowstring at this scale would be hard to see and not necessary in my opinion. But you can attach it if you want
Fair enough, it would be necessary on a competition level piece. BTW I failed to complement you on the quality of you videos. As a newby, and despite numerous other how-to videos, your technique works great for me. Stay interested, my friend.
Nice guide! However I can recommend glazing the highlights or at least thin those paints a bit more since it looks very grainy and rough(IMO looks more like warpaint or something than highlight). Alternatively you could use another layer of wash to bring them more together.
good job, but too fatty layers on the face.
Thanks!.. I guess :D
Wow, nice. Sadly, makes me realize how much I sux at painting.
Some steps could be avoid, also some corners you didnt manage to paint, at least it seems so, but on the end, you did a great job friend..except the face its horrible... but thanks for the video.. we need more videos like that...
I just discover you.. hugs from Spain .) from a former champion in painting lol.. that is ages ago lol
Very nice paintjob as always. Thanks for sharing.
Would love to see your take on treeman ancient
