Dust was great, got killed by platform restrictions sadly.
Looks good actually. Nice interface, simplified, awesome aim sight. But gun changing color is a little bit off. I would change it by adding different ammo counter color, or adding some sort of light on the gun when alternative mode is ON (not that light on the gun means some switch button that gets to glow when alt mod is active).

There will never be a game like Dust 514, but at least we have a game of the same genre and in the same universe, I would like to try it

O/ there is a new launcher and, you need to go download that to get the option.

So they turned Dust 514 into a looter shooter?
Dust 514 was great. Where it went wrong was being on PS3, when the game clearly demanded more resources.
All they needed to do was move that concept to PC or multi-plat.
Nah, it's escape from Tarkov in space.
Why didn't they just bring back where you could get out of your ship and walk in station and hang out in your pad.
Because the fanbase rebelled and got them to focus on the core ship gameplay instead. And rightly so.

@@zanmaru139 i fully supported it. a lot of people did. only a portion of people 'rebelled'. it needed work, obviously, but i was really looking forward to it and seeing it evolve.

@@GameTesterDev It's not. If i play Eve online I have acces to Vanguard clone. In the same launcher. And if i subscribe to Eve Online i can play Eve Vanguard. You cannot play Eve Vanguard at the state it is now without Eve online's sub.

All people wanted was for dust to run better. That's it CCP obviously doesn't understand that they are focused too much on graphics nobody was playing dust because of graphics. They had the opportunity to take the FPS genre in a completely different Direction with dust and they failed

Visually appealing. But it plays like a linear FPS first person shooter? Those are all bots just randomly hanging out in onesies and twosies. No major battle or warfare. Kill two bots, collect biomass, loot creds, upload creds. Yay?
Honestly, idk what the comment section is complaining about xD the game looks absolutely amazing visually and the glowing enemies on the aim-down sights actually adds a nice futuristic touch towards the genre, and while there are only few things to shoot at the time... something which will hopefully get remedied in time as more players pop in or more npcs show up the system as a whole people have to keep in mind the game is still in alpha and more maps modes and features may be added later on. That being said there are a couple things I dissagree with and other things which I think could use some improvements.
The game could use more EVE elements. The ships to drop down from would be a nice start and a nostalgic one at that. More weapons designs would also make the EVE elements stand out along with more dropsuit selection. The interface needs work. It screams out I'm a random fps rather than something from EVE or DUST514 save for the map, which was done fairly well!
The weapon changing colors and ammo types... this is the one of the few features I personally disagree with. Colorwise it wouldve been enough for just the numbers to change color for the ammo types but it just takes away so much weapon selection potential. The crafting feature is really nice to have though I think it should be nerfed to hell and left for emergencies only or taken out altogether and we could have a delivery system like with our former vehicles. Would make more sense if we could salvage the ammo from the fallen vanguards which would force the players to be more mindful about their bullets. Think we should also have different difficulty npcs based on their ranks to not make combat with them get old later. Difficulty example like how fast could they be alerted to your presence without your hostile actions alerting them, their accuracy rating, their tactics, their numbers and so on.
Some loot needing resources to open... this is the second thing I dissagree with. Think it should be more time consuming than resource intensive. More risk to opening up these crates compared to others. Think certain "large" lootboxes should also be able to be boobytrapped by other vanguards. This here will spice things up a bit as High Rewards should naturally be preceded by High Risks which in this case we can choose to take. Greed may be our undoing.

Is it though? I mean, is it worse than Elite Dangerous? I remember hearing about Dust 514, way back in the PS3 days. Some liked it. It was sort of a cult thing, by my recollection. I'm just now trying to investigate getting into Eve and so just looking up stuff on it at random. I do remember there was also to be some Project [something], that was to be based on the Dust 514 gameplay, but intended for PC. Then it was canceled.
It's way better than 514 though.

I don't like the mini map pop-up. You shouldn't have to craft ammo after two clips. The game does get boring and repetitive real fast. I don't see this becoming popular at all. I'll stick with EVE.

I really hate the art design in EVE: Vanguard. Absolutely nothing looks like it belongs in the EVE universe.
With Dust 514, you can hide it's name and still instantly recognize what game it's related to because the art design actually looked 1:1 with EVE: Online's art direction. I can't do that with EVE: Vanguard because if you hide it's name, I'm just going to think it looks like a generic sci-fi FPS that's trying to cash in on the extraction shooter trend. That's how boring the art direction is in this game.

They should have just revived Dust, with the more matured free to play environment we could have gotten a better game with crossplay. Vanguard should have been an additional mode over a standalone. If you remove the EVE branding it's a pretty bad extraction shooter.

the only thing that bothers/puzzles me is the design choice of the weapon ...it appears the devs have no idea how guns work and have opted to use a Picatinny Rail system as sites which they are not (and yes I understand their version has an indent down the center) but I'm guessing by the HUD they are conveying the sites are actually integrated into your suits visor? Either way that Empty Rail is an eyesore, and triggering (pun intended). I dono is it there for adding special sites later ...but if they are going to do that why not just add actual "iron" sites design to the weapon and allow the HUD to add information instead, because as it is ...your not even actually aiming down the site your just looking over the weapon through your visor which is really odd might as well just shoot from the hip and let your visor HUD do the aiming for you.
They should have just redone what dust 514 was period it's 10 years later they could have reprogrammed it on better Tech Period Looks clean and all but It's not that's 514 period what a damn shame

Okay so i just watched almost half an hour of gameplay and i still have no clue what this game wants to be...
An kinda extraction shooter where you run around looting boxes for a couple thousand ISK and some crafting components and shoot some braindead NPC once in a while?
What's the point? How is this supposed to integrate with EVE? Sorry but this just looks so bland and boring...
At least in Dust514 you were fighting large scale Battles with all kinds of vehicles for recourses and eve players could orbital bombard the battlefield...
The only controls you need to know for this game are Escape Key-> exit to desktop
24h waiting for next pay to play demotest 250 plex in ingamestore of eveonline. I am thinking about to pay.. but it never will be fun. I played Planetside2 and it is great but nobody is interested in Planetside2. So pvp in eve is only changing the community.

Dust 514 was much better Conquering territory and inner planetary battles was fun. Having access to orbital bombardment against your enemy was so gratifying. This Eve Online Vanguard is nothing more than a loot based shooter. Eve online is outdated.
Honestly, I'm a huge fan of Eve online, but this just looks boring...
As far as I can see, it looks like just another FPS.
Everything is Grey,
Barely anything to shoot at,
Active crafting system (Right, coz soldiers need to make their own bullets...)
And I need to point out, the enemies glow red to differentiate between them and the eternal greyness of the background.
(If your game is so grey, dull and dreary that u need to make enemies glow in order to be visible at all, then you failed as a game designer)
From what I can see, they looked at COD, said "Right, let's do that, but get rid of all the fun stuff, and keep the boring shit that nobody wants!!"
I mean, sorry to rant. But if it didn't say "Eve" in it's name, you would be excused for thinking it is just some random space-marine FPS type game..
So, submit your bug report/evaluation, this is why this is limited beta for those who are in only. They collect just these opinions you know, way more productive to whine there rather than here ;)
