Taking Phil Gaimon's KOM on Decker Canyon in Malibu Strava of this ride: / strava Decker Canyon: / strava Safa going down Decker: • The Decker Disaster [D... 00:00 Bike Overview 1:57 Drone Video
“I’m a bigger guy, around 152 lbs” 😂😂. Always joke that cycling is the only place where people call me “big” at 175 lbs. Awesome effort on this one. This climb is no joke, especially on a hot day.
Do a full video on that handlebar modification please! . You hit the nail right on the head, these one piece setups are way too wide and you never see companies making sizes below 40mm for some reason.
EIE SR30TC26H super light wheelset build with Extralite Disc straight pull hubs ,carbon spoke and aluminum black nipples ,final weight less than 1000g.
Although not as monumental as say Flores or Decker, I think either Phil or Froome still hold the kom for Palisades drive - pch to the summit. ~4 miles @ 7% with the last 2 miles averaging almost 11%, it’s actually a lot more difficult than a lot of the neighboring climbs imo. I think that kom has held since 2018 or 2019 too, so I’ve been expecting to see your face pop up there for a while now. Any plans to give it a go?
Is this the segment? strava.app.link/YLJpPJ2dusb I hadn’t heard of it before, or ridden over there, but I see that Phil has it, so I’ll add it to the list.
Has anyone thought to use a drone as a fan to stay cooler on climbs or as other aerodynamic assistance? I'm sure that'll be something to address as drone technology advances.
Your voice is soothing 👂

I couldn't believe it when I got a notification that you uploaded a new video Drake. Great job and congratulations on the KOM!
All the best to you, missed your videos. Didn’t know about the injury. Hope healing and recovery is going well. Keep crushing!
Great effort. Quite a recovery from your injury to be riding so well so soon.
I really hope you enjoy your time in France, man. What a dream trip! I hope to go out there and ride myself someday soon on those famous roads.

The custom bars super sick! Who did the carbon work?
Len Lochmiller out of San Diego. Look him up on Facebook if you want, that’s how I got in touch with him

How much were the wheels if you don’t mind me asking?
“Only” $1700 quite the bargain compared to my other Cadex wheels which are $2k for just one
I leave for the Alps in one week, when do you plan to be there?
Leaving September 10th, so still a little while for me.
Mt Washington, as in North East LA Mt. Washington ?
No, New Hampshire en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Washington_Auto_Road_Bicycle_Hillclimb

They used to say that the French TV helicopters would fly close behind Bernard Hinault to help push him along during time trials!
@@mikemelbrooks O, interesting.
What was the exact issue with your rear hub in the Safa video? I got the exact same problem with my wheel right now lmaooo. It's driving me crazy.
I don’t really know what the issue was. Eventually my hub exploded, and I had to buy a new wheel.
@@DrakeDeuel oh damn… Im gonna have a shop look at the hub specifically. 🤦♂️
What saddle is that?
Specialized power Arc, pretty common one. I have a raw carbon saddle that I’m considering running for Mt. Washington that saves 60g
what kind of pace do you run at? and surface? 🙂
I only run on dirt, dirt Mulholland if you’re local to LA. Usually just steady pace, like 7:20-7:40 average with like 1000ft of elevation gain.
Do Gibraltar in Santa Barbara gotta get sub 27:12
@ Drake: how tall are you man? Seems like a huge saddle to bar drop (which is actually not bad for climbing)
I’m ~71 inches/181cm
The front end is slammed, so it’s a pretty aggressive drop but not crazy unusual I don’t think
