Another round is here and we are bringing a spicy build to the table. Mike has always argued that Lord Windgrace could be a viable CEDH commander, but none of the rest believed him. So we had him build it the best he could and bring it to the table. So let's see how it does tonight.

One unedited misplay was Mikes second land drop after obliterate.
What is Ryan's playmat? Where can I get one?
Can yall explain the misplay please
@@brotheranime15 The misplay we noted was that polluted delta cannot fetch a Plateau. Mike on his Obliterate turn played a command beacon and an ancient tomb. The only thing that would've changed was he couldn't cast Collector Ouphe that turn. Mike could still reanimate the lands he needed to be able to cast Sire next turn, so it didn't make a difference overall.
So why does Garrett have a paradox engine in his deck. Its banned. You can see him mill it at 12:55
Folger: *plays Jin Gitaxias
Mike: “I’m about to end this man’s whole career”
"During his upkeep, Mike loses his Mana Crypt trigger and takes three damage" the game
Legit never seen that many missed tosses in a row
Tbf, i think this is one of the reasons he won the game .
Mike: Everyone got nothing else? Aight, Obliterate and Sire of Insanity. Game two?
Yeah that was kind of crazy. I'm so glad that he was able to make a viable CEDH deck out of Lord Windgrace.
@@hollow3951 it’s a really good deck imo I run one as well as an engine for reanimator deck with a a land stax theme into it then going for one of 3 combo lines world gorger with dryad and valkut with 5 lands or mike and trike or the necrotic ooze devourer and triskelion combo
@@hollow3951 not top tier but I’d say it’s like tier 2
@@dustinjackson8270 holy cow that's such an old comment. It is definitely a cool deck.
@@hollow3951 yeah just saw the video lol
*Halfway through*: Alright, I've seen most of the game and honestly I don't see the hype around Lord Windgrace. It's a cool idea, but I wouldn't call it a CEDH level commander, I mean, it's just sitting there, not doing anyth-
Mike: Casts Obliterate
Oh. Oh! Ohhhhhh... shit. Well played, and respect for the cat man.
Well... It's a bad strat. Everyone else was doing something, and he wasn't. While resources were expended, he just casts an uncounerable spell. Any deck *should* have been doing more throughout the game 🤷♂️
@@sobman bad strat why? I guess it's an expensive spell but he's playing a lands matter deck. Also mld but who gives a shit about that
I mean it seems to me like he got screwed on draws, he kept a one land hand at the start and couldn't start pitching lands to his bin for ages since cat daddy got countered the first time he cast it.
@@artificium_ because it doesn't take much effort to sit in the sidelines while 3 good decks are playing, then you just sneak a win it.
It's a strat, just not a good one. Also, is not very nice, everyone comes to play, sitting and having your spells on the edge of "not good enough to be counted" doesn't mean you have some ground breaking scheme
@@Putrefax it's not unreasonable the cat got counted. It's pretty much all he can do with his deck.
That's, imo, what made it bad.
Ryan's "Doomsday, pass." killed me. He could have probably (I haven't seen the list) kept Top on the field and then used Top to crack his pile, cast Gush (or Night's Whisper if he didn't have the Islands), cast Thought Scour to mill a Lab Man and some other card, reanimated Lab Man, and cast Gitaxian Probe to win. Again, I haven't seen the list, but he should have been able to win there by using SDT to crack the pile.
Yup, his misplay that cost him the game was shuffling away his sensei's top.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG As a Doomsday player, I understand completely. Every pile is made through remembering bad experiences.
I thought the same thing Aiden Phelps, though I didn't know the exact line because I've only tested doomsday with this crazy janky mono-black vintage deck.
Doomsday, pass.
Me: Oh dear God, what have you done?! Lol, it's supposed to be Doomsday, win.
Ryan: Doomsday?
Folger: Wheel
Ryan: Suprised Pikachu meme
As a locust god player this pleased me on a deeper level.
12:56 that is a very interesting card in Garrett’s Graveyard there. Guess this game is a bit on the older side?
Sharp eye. It was from an older game in our backlog.
was looking for this exact comment :D
Me too
Me three!
Me four
Ryan's turn one ordering hurts me on the inside. If he used mana crypt to play talisman of dominance he could have then tapped gemstone and the talisman to play his talisman of heirarchy and then using the mana from heirarchy cast mana vault allowing it to remain untapped.
That hurt me.
Good call
Amen.
this is the first time I've ever seen someone scoop in cEDH
Less of a scoop and more knowing he couldn't get out if the lock. He has no mana and no hand or any way of stopping the sire from swinging so he just conceded to save time.
I belive its happened on this very channel before. I dont recall the details but I think it was a 1v1 and one guy had a recuring silence that he cast over and over.
@@khurgar8120 Technically that wasnt a scoop, as Ryan technically played it out against Dylan. In case you're wondering, that was the Teferi vs Brago vs Godo vs Muldrotha game, where Dylan locked out Ryan with a Brago Blink+Archaeomancer to bring back Silence repeatedly and lock out Ryan (the Godo player) before killing him
Best episode yet, I couldn’t predict who was gonna win at any point
Really not even after obliterate?
As a Lord Windgrace "main" this warms my heart that he got his moment to shine on here.
Holy Obliterate! What a great game and a come-from-behind win from Windgrace!
Been a somewhat casual windgrace player for almost 2years now and have been waiting for this. Thank you for showing windgrace in the competitive scene!
Also: what an epic game. Absolutely loved the land destruction.
@12:56, is that a Paradox Engine getting milled?
Old game?
This was recorded before the banning of Paradox. Sharp eye!
I saw that too 😂😂😂
@@townsin same lol
This past weekend I was looking for a CEDH version of Windgrace, and BOY HOWDY am I proud of Mike! Thanks for showcasing what Windy can do!
That Obliterate was one of the funniest things I've seen on this channel.
Don't think it would change the game, but in the Obliterate turn, the land for the turn was an Ancient Tomb used to pay for Obliterate, so the Command Beacon later was a missplay :p
Slight misplay on Mike's part, but he had the ability to reanimate both it and crystal vein to cast Sire next turn, so the outcome didn't change. The only change was casting collector ouphe. Which didn't win him the game either way.
Oh wow, that ending was brutal!
What a cool game. The Doomsday into Wheel of Fortune was so funny XD
I think this was the most interactive game you guys have filmed yet. I loved the numerous back and forth plays that seemed nonstop throughout the game.
a refreshing ending in this world of Fish Consultations! great game
Mike, that deck was awsome. Makes me almost want to build a similar (non-competitive) deck just to armageddon people to the ground.
Continue with the awsome content.
Hi from Switzerland
YES! This is what I like to see. Different competitive commanders doing new things rather than the same old deck out wincon. Would love to see more content like this please!
Easily my favourite mtg channel and gameplay, I'm always excited to see your videos pop up!
Awesome! I love Jund stax. Converted my old Shattergang Brothers to Windgrace as he generates so much value. Glad to see you guys showcasing him!
This was a excellent game. I subscribed with hopes that the rest of your games are nearly as good.
That life from the loam into the scroll rack was so spicy. And great playing from Mike! An obliterate, bahaha I love it. Nice to see a unique deck too!
Thanks for posting in this crazy world right now. I cant play mtg and your videos are helping with wanting to so much 💚
"Folger draws a card, yearns for his long lost Dack..." mood. #JusticeForDack
well those were two of the more spicy kills I've seen lately... good job to the cat man!
This is the only channel I follow in regards to cEDH and I'll be honest, I always thought that Lord Windgrace was a cEDH commander.
Didn't know it wasn't widely regarded as one and cool to see its performance and what it was able to do! ^^
Most entertaining match so far! Hope you guys are safe and doing well. Keep up the great content!
Like Mike, I've long been an advocate of Windgrace LMD. I've been slowly getting all the pieces I need to bring the deck to a cEDH level since it came out, and this episode made me so happy.
As a casual EDH player, I love seeing these competitive games since most of the time I find myself saying: "What on Earth is going on?". I really enjoyed this episode.
I do wonder, is Prossh - Food Chain still a competitive deck? It's been a long time since I last saw Prossh on a competitive table.
He has fallen out of favor in place of other food chain commanders like Korvold and the First Sliver. That isn't to say he's not competitive. It's just to say there are more powerful ones out now.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG Isn't there also an argument for Tazri as a viable competitive commander?
@@hollow3951 tazri isn't as good as niv mizzet reborn who in turn isn't as good as the first sliver
Still usable, but just a bit outclassed.
@@nathanjamesgoodner Excellent description. 👍
Yes!!! I've been building that style of Windgrace deck for a while now and everyone told me it was going to be average at best. Thank you Mike, I'm now vindicated :)
They've doubted windgrace since day 1!
Man I'm so loving all these videos! Awesome to see Windgrace get the victory here too. Woot woot!
Hello! I've been watching your videos for over a year and I decided to sub today. I love your content and always have. Keep up the great work!
That was an absolutely crazy last couple of turns. The wheel of fortune after the doomsday, the obliterate after the pact of negation. Hilarious ways to force losses. And the stacks windgrace slammed down at the end was just too much there. Awesome
Phenomenal game!! and the ending made me so happy.
This game was crazy. Loved Mike's deck.
This is one of the more exciting games I've seen in a while
HOLY SHOOT that turn 9 was SPECTACULAR
that was beautiful
So beautiful content, senks for the great job
That ending was epic and amazing!
Lord Wingrace just "obliterate"-d everyone.
What an Obliterate!
Also, I hope y'all stay safe and healthy during the COVID-19 crisis. As a big fan, I'd prioritize that over seeing new episodes (and y'all attending the tournament in NJ).
That ended was sickkk
i'm new edh/cedh and i bought the kitty precon and upped it into an expensive competitive styled one.. this motivates me to fix it up xD
Ryan raw dogging that Doomsday made me audibly "Oh noooooooooooo." Bold move, but not surprised it didn't work out. If his only out was to just send it, then I understand, but if not; C'mon son, you know better than that.
That combo at the end by mike was nasty!
It's literally the first time that i've witnessed ANYONE paying for Mystic Remora! Wow.
One of the best episodes
That was a crazy game!!
Love it, amazing game.
Wow a Lord Wingrace deck winning a cEDH battle with a mix of politics and power. Amazing!
That was an amazing end
That game was fire!
That was great.
Good game keep it up 👌
I don't know if you guys watch family Guy, but Mike reminded me of that old man tossing tumbleweeds all over the street, saying "Y'all laugh at me! Y'all laugh at me," and then hopes in new ride afterwards.
That Obliterate play was dirty, I love it.
Wow that finish was awsome
Dang! That's a GG right there mates!
Guess that Windgrace didn't take that well the destruction of Urborg uh
Perfection ! Doomsday into wheel of fortune lol
"Bryan cracks his Polluted Delta and fetches for a Plateau". LOL 6:30
One of the best games in the channel
Nice!!!
3:00 best part of the video (followed closely by the wheel of fortune)
What a game !
Sick azz game! Gg guys.
This game was hilarious. I loved Lord Wingrace
That was an awesome game
That was the strongest showing of Windgrace I have ever seen, so damn good.
HAHAHAHA, amazing! well played!
Lord WIndgrace!!! Amazing play! How about a voltron theme for everyone?
The wheel of fortune and then the obliterate turn was hype
Windgrace and Obliterate. Yeeesh! I've got shivers...
Nice! I always love Windgrace! OBLITERATE FTW! That's why when I play blue I always have Unsubstantiate.
By the gods that was an awesome game.
Brutality!
All I can say as a Windgrace player is:
O B L I T E R A T E
Windgrace player came out of nowhere with that play XD
Love pw commanders (Estrid is ♥️) having their time to shine. Most regular tables would just attack the commander on the spot . Yet, cEDH tables just have "better" overall commanders which just outclass them. Always love being left alone and stealing the game lol.
The madlad did it! The madlad did it!
Ok, that game was funny xD
I'm one happy Demon when ever I see a game with a Sire of Insanity in play, Rakdos would be very amused.
That Obliterate though, supreme
Lol at 13:04 you can see a paradox engine in Garrett's graveyard xD
This is from an older recording, so we let it slide since he didn't play it.
Playing With Power MTG it was a throwback to those good ol’ days 😭
That win was B R U T A L holy fuck
Everytime someone casts doomsday I am somehow surprised to read/hear "loses half their life". I always manage to forget thats part of the rules text.
Don’t mess with Cats
TRUTH
That Ryan opening is Fire. Though I wouldn't order the plays that way though.
12:56 there’s a paradox engine in Garrett’s graveyard
Love your content, guys!!!!! But as a more casual oriented player that enjoys watching the beauty of the "c-Part" of our beloved format, I have the following question:
Ryans turn one was gas! No doubt about it. But what's the reasoning behind playing and tapping the Mana Vault to cast other stuff, when Ryan could have done basically the same without the Vault (tap land, tap Crypt, play one Talisman, tap the Talisman to cast the next one). That way, he could have had a turn 2 with 8 mana instead of paying 4 in the upkeep to untap the Vault.
This is something I see rather often and always wonder why, especially if nothing significant happens on turn 2 (or 3 in the more casual rounds).
Thanks a lot in advance!
Keep up the great work!
What a good game
13:57 Ryan is at 21 loosing half his life rounded up (11) however he goes to 11. Not really important here but if you cast Doomsday at 1 life you would die.
Glad somebody else noticed.
Suggestion: Cards in hand show somewhere next to name/life. Cards in hand is extremely crucial in cEDH and it may explain some moves.
