#EDH #CEDH #BudgetCEDH - Hry
The true title of this video "3 budget cEDH decks try to beat Godo"
That last game was hysterical.
People: Breathe
Zack: Recasts Memnite
memeknight
Without all the 0-mana counters, Godo is pretty nuts.
I came down to type this. Since all four decks are budget, we can't see how un-competitive they are with real cEDH decks. They all lack adequate interaction for real cEDH, although they are stronger than a typical Commander deck.
While there is free interaction available for budget, its mostly tempo style, and cant play will with multicolor.
Foil, commandeer, mogg salvage, submerge, etc.
Everyone else: âItâs *budget* cEDH.â
Godo: âTurn 1, I win?â
Everyone else: đ€Ź
You said it, budget cEDH, not budget casual EDH.
@@ruipeixoto5737 Turn 1, I win? Anyone a Force of Will? Thought so...100$ budget warriors!
@@testthewest123 spell pierce or anything else like it would of stopped it. So....
@@jtyree0226 Yeah, everyone keep up blue mana turn one to counter him! And this only works, if Godoplayer isn't going first...so...you're wrong.
cedh is stil cedh i like to watch it (sometimes) but i wouldnt play this. just doesnt seem fun to me to loose against an inf combo or some shenanigans like that.
Me: if you remove the fast mana and the efficient interaction, you remove the "c" from cEDH.
Me after game one: picks jaw off floor after seeing how wrong I was.
Me after watching the whole video: Ryan's voice is what puts the "c" in cEDH.
My first thought was, so there wonât be any wins before turn 3 right? The. I watched godo roll everyone in a turn
Godo going last... oof
Edit: nevermind...
Leave it to Ryan to open FTK
No.1 anime betrayal
All that interaction kept busting him up. But he still won anyway. Poor Adam, couldn't even play lol
id love to see more of these games! budget is a big part of why some people don't play Cedh, and videos like this can prove that others can play! Id love to see more of theses
I play edh to have something to chat about when I meet up with friends. I'd rather focus on interacting with my friends than reshuffling 100 card commander decks because the spike went off turn 1 four games in a row.
@@bodaciouschad I said why some people don't play cEDH. If you don't feel comfortable playing at this power level, that's your choice, and I myself play cEDH, and I still get to interact with my friends when I play. I was just commenting about the budgetary restrictions of cEDH, and how some videos like this can prove that its possible to play high power without spending a fortune
@@bodaciouschad bruv why are you even here
@@bodaciouschad - Then cEDH isn't for you. And that is fine. My only question is: why piss on others for how they prefer to play?
Godo and Yuriko just prove that Kamigawa are the best sets ever
@Varler I know she is from the Commander precon "technically" but she is a Kamigawa card so it just proves why they can never return back to Kamigawa the power level was way too high
@@1choas Kamigawa never had a high powerlevel. The problem was the powerlevel was very low and parasitic (only interacted with it self). Further problems was the lack of support of spirits in Mirrodin. Mirrodin's powerlevel was very high on the really insane level. Many cards are used or playable in many formats to this day. Since the are artifact cards the can be used in many combinations and decks. If I remember correctly the powerlevel had to be turned down because of the powerlevel of Mirrodin was so high. I don't know what you mean by Yuriko is a Kamigawa card. Ninjitsu is a mechanic from Kamigawa and many of the cards from the block naturally fits the deck because it synergies so well. However, the card is not from Kamigawa you can play a modern deck with Yuriko because she has never been printed in a modern legal deck (kamigawa is modern legal). However you can play her in legacy since all new black boarder cards are legacy legal.
@@Tupiaz I think you misunderstand that I'm joking
@@1choas Yeah, I was in doubt but not the strangest thing I have seen on the internet so...
Truth, how long until Return to Kamigawa tho đą
So, in a nutshell, the expensive parts of CEDH are the landbase, tutors, fast mana, and reserve list.
In a nutshell, the expensive parts of cedh are the expensive cards
I love seeing Godo take such cool fast wins. Also, that Yuriko deck was crazy
Yuriko is sweet. Whenever the game goes long and everybody's combos get stopped, yuriko just grinds out an inevitable win.
I love my Yuriko build. Probably at a value of about $2400, Misisng underground Sea. Might be a bit more.
@@cjwauer4730 i have a yuriko deck but since i dont have alotta money it is kinda meh. any budget cards you rcommend?
We Commander's Quarters now boys! 100 dollar decks!
You're probably my favourite EDH channel. Play by play commentating is always on point. You give the game a very professional feel.
Ryan: I cast Sol Ring, again
Me: I wish I drew Sol Ring like him
Oh shit Jake's here
@@MTGTheStack WHAT UP MY MAN :P
This was awesome! Thank you so much for doing this episode! Such a good one! Thanks!
I was thinking about building Yuriko and bought her last night. On a budget around $100 , along with my own upgrades I can put in, this is destiny. Thanks PwP!
If you go mostly ninja you can build the entire deck for around $75 mostly competitive with fun unblockable rogues to fill the extra creature gaps and get free hits with yuriko.
Man, loved it, 100 usd deck turn 1 win!! Please, make more of that, it is exactaly what The comunity needs!!
Don't get your hopes up - the turn 1 win was only by a very lucky hand! You could put Rite of Flame, Sol Ring, Seething Song, Treasonous Ogre, and Helm of the Host (along with God) for only $16.74, but you are very unlikely to pull off a turn 1 win, especially with the (generally) high prevalence of 0 CMC counter magic.
Me "Well, a good thing is that Ryan can not win this first turn"
Also me "stares into the void"
Pretty cool to see budget decks in Action. Great video ^^
Amazing job of Ryan piloting and building this Godo, congrats!
Proactive decks seem *very* good in a meta without free/cheap counterspells.
But once Yuriko got rolling it was incredible! Memnite was extremely impressive as a worse (but still good!) Ornithopter
Great timing! Looking foward to every video especially if it has gitrog in it. A beast (especially on a budget) change my mind
God I love this content, really needed it since I have exams coming up. Keep up the great work guys!
also GODOOOOOOOO
This would be a great series! Hope you keep it!
Those builds are great! It's very interesting to see cEDH budget decks in action
Would love to see more of this as a series!
Really a cool video! Three great matches!
Thank you for this upload!
please, make more budget videos, i really love them! keep up the good work!
This is my kind of content. Iâve got a lot of expensive cards, but I enjoy taking a deck/idea and making it as good as it can be with a self imposed budget
This was fun to watch
Aside from there being 2 Thoracle decks, this was a great idea. Would love to see $100 budget brews become a regular thing on this channel
I really enjoyed this one. I love that final point about cEDH being an attitude and style of play, it definitely rings true. It also struck a chord for me because it's definitely similar to how I like to approach decks, with concise core combos, quick play, and smart interaction and advantage options, even at a budget - certainly got me thinking about what I would bring to a game like this and I settled on Sai, Master Thopterist or Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain - artifact combo stuff is always pretty strong, even on a really strict budget
Great Video. Love to see some great new cards i never heard about i can actually afford ^^
Love the pronunciations of the donators in the end :) almost got it.
I like the little bit at the end saying that cEDH isnât a budget or list of decks, itâs a way of approaching the game đ
Man this video was super fun!! You should play more !!
Super cool challenge, great job!
Awesome video folks
Just realized this is most likely the last video with garret in it we will miss you dude hope everything coming to you goes well!!
We have a few more, but yes, not many more.
Wait what?
â@@evanczthehunter57 We have a post on CZcams saying that Garrett has chosen to move on due to the stuff going on in his life.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG so sorry to hear that..best of luck to him and more $100 cEDH!
Loved these games. I have a budget Godo deck that I threw together awhile back. I never play it anymore because itâs right in that awkward power level that itâs no fun to play at casual tables because it comboâs off too quick, but no fun to play at competitive tables because it isnât fast enough. This encouraged me to take a serious look at it and maybe give the cEDH scene another shot on a budget.
Me literally watching a year later, they still hold pretty well for around 150$-190$!
We need more budget cedh videos 10/10 content!
This is really cool to see! I really enjoy the cEDH gameplay, but the price is way outside my budget or at least I thought it was. Definitely inspired to see if I can make a cEDH deck of my own on a budget! Really hope to see more of these in the future!
Great episode
Some great games. Godo in that first game without the big money rocks was mind-blowing. Thank you for sharing the website I will have to give it a look now. Looking forward to more game play.
I love these budget builds. Always excited to see more unique cards I can potentially add to my decks. One card that I think was overlooked is Wizard's Retort. In your Thrasios / Vial Smasher build it is strictly better and cheaper money wise than Cancel. It can potentially be a second Counterspell in the deck with Thrasios in play too.
$100 also buys you a decent inkjet, cartridges included, and paper for unrestricted cEDH. đ€Ł
Hell yeah
"We are having an official $1000 prize edh tourney. Real cards only and will be checked." lol where I am we have a lot of edh tournies.
What's the point of playing with fake cards? I could proxy up Timetwister and stick it in all my decks but that would defeat the purpose of playing Magic.
Personally I just scoop to proxiers.
Don't call your format Cedh. "$100 also buys you a decent inkjet, cartridges included, and paper for unrestricted PROXY cEDH." - there fixed it for ya
@@damo9961 as someone who only plays online.. this is a very strange stance to me. lol
@@damo9961 nobody cares
@@damo9961 proxy hater. Look not all people can spend money on card
The turn 1 crazy
This was great hopefully more of these to come Iâm interested in cedh but not the cost and I donât want to proxy everything so games like this really make it seem more approachable to me
Naysayers: "don't play cEDH, it's too expensive for average players!"
Playing With Power: "hold my beer"
If you're interested, the budget brews has a discord on their website, they got plenty of great decklists and people. I frequent the ultra budget lists constantly because they have great decks for 100 or less. I just built a 10 dollar zada deck that I pushed to 30 and it's surprisingly strong
Cool to see budget CEDH is actually possible! Yuriko seemed like a cool deck. Godo's simple strategy is intact and seemingly unaffected by the budget cuts, nice!
You're back!!
Wow, this was eye opening
Holy Magic Christmasland that Turn 1 Godo win.
These games were great! Super interactive and surprising.
So glad I remembered to check this video, such great budget resources in this episode! I was thinking Yuriko would make a great budget deck, being only 2 colors (my favorite ones too), creature-based (đ) and plays high CMC cards to boot.
I was originally looking at Inalla, but then I began to realize a Consultation-Oracle-reliant deck that doesn't grind probably isn't meant to be built as a budget deck. These deck lists & the ones on cEDH Budget Brews look much better & worth it for me!
This is amazing! You almost convince me to try cEDH... I may try to build a budget deck soon :)
I'd be interested in seeing these decks actually competing with the high budget decks. The fact that all of the decks are budget ones is just re-balancing for your specific playgroup and everything is going to seem "competitive" when you're on an equal playing field. I feel like the episode with the budget Kenrith deck was probably a better showcase for the viability of cheaper decks.
OMG those games were awesome that Godo and Yuriko decks are scary powerful even when they are on a budget.
Voting for more of this
So I've been a big fan of your videos ever since I found this channel and have watched every single episode of Playing with Power, so you should know what it means when I say that I think the is the absolute best video you've ever made. I had a TON of fun watching these 100 dollar CEDH decks battle it out, and it was so cool to see all these cards that you don't normally see in the format (or even in normal EDH, like Fourth Bridge Prowler) shine. I really hope this becomes a series, because I'd love to see more creative budget CEDH decks.
Thank you very much! Let's just say that if this video does well, we will have some more in the future!
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG I want to tag along with this comment by Smug, I absolutely love watching cEDH content you guys put out, but to some extent card pools can become stale, knowing that in a competitive setting you want to play the most optimal cards and builds. Seeing some interesting, normally-not-ran-cards, was a fantastic breath of fresh air especially to me. Thank you for this great episode, as Smug said, I hope they become a series.
Sidenote: I would love to see a Thassa-turns build, if you ever are interested to try it.
I run Selvala as my CEDH deck of choice and it actually started out as a budget build simply because I couldn't afford cards like Cradle, Mox Diamond and Mana Crypt. I was able to take it to a couple of wins at my LGS back when Paradox Engine was still legal. Im thankful that I'm in a better position now where I can afford the CEDH staples, but my budget brew still holds a special place in my heart.
I never knew Yuriko could be a cEDH deck. I have looked into building it for a while since I love the ninjutsu ability.
I really like the Yuriko deck. Mine is focused on putting expansive cards on top and pulling out some cool ninjas with some extra turns, but this heavily spell focused seems pretty fun.
I think it would be fun to see what you guys could with pauper commander too!
This stuff is amazing! I love watching cedh and it looks really fun to play, but it's frustrating seeing such expensive decks. Even without proxies I'm not a huge fan of building the decks since they're so optimized and homogenous it's hard to put a unique touch on them. The budget is great, I feel like building $100 decks adds a lot of creativity, I'd love it if you continued it as a series! I'd love to see $100 Yisan or Teshar especially!
More of this content please :)
That Godo turn 1 win got me rolling đ€Łđ€Ł
I appreciate this!
T'was the weeks before xmas, and xmas came early. Great video! How about competitive spider-tribal? :3
please do more of these.
I would to see an updated list. I know new sets have come out since then. I would like to see what new cards would be put in.
I've built momir vig hackball and grenzo doomsday on a 100$ budget as well
Hi, we ran a 100$ tournament at my LGS and I found that the Brallin/Shabraz +curiosity combo is really cheap. also breach brain freeze is really cheap to include as well. You can run it pretty budget and still get a pretty similar deck
I know this is months old now, but at the end of the second game Yuriko was turned into an elf with no abilities, but still was getting the attack triggers.
Yuriko and Godo definitely had a better showing than the other two decks. Playing 4 colours with so many tap lands is really rough for getting the engine going at a cEDH pace and if people want to play cEDH on a budget they should look at the mono/2 colour commanders as their best options.
Damn that turn 1 win with a $100 card deck was spicy.
Love this content!! Should do also a 200/300 and so on!
I think it really says something about our format that 99% of a deck's budget is contained in less than 10% of it's contents.
I send my condolences to Ryan, couldn't even play most of game 2 đą
This is a very interesting video idea, id love to see it again, maybe with a jhoira
Having a Broken Bond instead of Nature's Claim game 1 is big oof!
I do love me some budget edh action. Wouldn't mind seeing more of the budget brew decks with the higher budget, either.
Aye, I'm a part of the Budget Brew discord. Honestly I really do suggest it
Don't know if it was cut, but it seemed that poor compost was left unused multiple times đ Absolutely loved the budget battle.
Great video and decks , i would love to see najeela budget
cEDH is budget if we build it properly. Awesome job guy's !
This is "GOLD" !!
hahaha! Ryan with the literal God hand in game one!
Can we see some Najeela budget cEDH in the future pls!
More content like this please
We are working on it!
Hey, itd be awesome to showcase some off these decks against budgetless decks, whether its one or two with the rest being full power, it would be a better showing that these decks can swing at a real table.
The real question is can they compete at a table with fully optimized cedh decks. Thatâs what Iâd love to see, a round of each of these in a real competitive setting. Otherwise you are just playing normal edh with tuned down decks against other la of the same power lvl
Awesome! Trying to get into cedh. Working on anje and godo, might build this godo budget to start (and swap some of the rituals and red interaction between the 2)
Also still don't know what # of madness cards i should settle on, but I guess I'll have to test a lot for that.
I have a fairly budget anje deck. it is ridiculously fast and consistent. I rarely play it as too not annoy people too much lmao
@@MehrGills I run 34 madness cards
@@brandonguthrie8122 would love to see that list. Im leaning toward 36 madness cards rn, but I haven't played much with it
@@MehrGills I'll see about posting a list when I can :)
Holy shit it took sooooo much interaction to stop Godo from winning over and over again.
Iâve been working on a budget pod myself. I have marwyn, anje, and yuriko. Trying to decide on a fourth lol
Godo, just sayinâ...
Lol in the last game so many counters for gitrog. i felt the pain
The other 10,000 dollars left behind were to make wins faster with consistency and fast mana. What's left is core combos and more variance per game.
Yuriko just chipping damage away was pretty cool
For budget cedh I highly recommend Teysa Karlov, double death triggers are insane if people canât keep her out of play. I had a deck that was around $150, including lands and the commander, that would win turn 6 or 7 almost every time. Mostly creature based so I ran all the cheap board wipes that hit all nonland permanents and then some, plus exile spot removal for artifacts, enchantments and creatures. Plus you can draw your deck and have the mana to cast everything just off death triggers, you donât necessarily need infinite combos. It was a ton of fun, but most of my friends hated it because it was extreme orzhov control mixed with insane value. Board wipes become pure value engines and that is hard to deal with.
Hey I know I'm late to the party but I couldn't find any top comments mentioning this, so I thought I'd still go ahead and write this. At 12:20, since Godo got removed, Helm wouldn't make a copy of Godo. On the other hand, if Helm is the one that gets removed, then you still get a token copy of Godo, even if Godo is removed together with Helm. This is according to the rulings on Gatherer on Helm:
"If the equipped creature leaves the battlefield before the triggered ability of Helm of the Host resolves, or if there is no equipped creature, no token is created. However, if Helm of the Host leaves the battlefield while its triggered ability is on the stack, a token will be created of the creature it last equipped. If that creature has also left the battlefield, its last known information is used to determine what the token looks like."
