That's a pretty solid budget for a deck since most of the cards in it can be used for other cedh decks
Also there is selvala brostorm which has a budget version that is $220 that is very solid, it's one of my favorite decks I have tried so you can always go that route

I still remember the day that someone running Selvala at my LGS got rekt by the non-cEDH deck running Fog with their whole library in hand. They were able to reshuffle Green Sun's Zenith back in but they still managed to lose that game because of a Wheel of Fortune milling them out before it got back to their turn. I easily had the win on my turn as I had both Paradox Engine (rip old friend) and Scepter combo in hand but instead chose to try to storm off manually and ended up intentionally putting myself at exactly 52 life with Aetherflux Reservoir and lasered the other cEDH player as the kid who shut down a cEDH deck with a Fog absolutely deserved the win.
That's also the reason why i still want keep my primal command in my own selvala brostorm: bounce opponents land on top of the library, and if they float mana before, just change the phases and win afterwards.

I loved this episode - my only cEDH deck is a budget Selvala list and I so rarely see her run in videos, and I don't get to play high powered very often, so whenever I get to see her in action it really makes me happy.
The only reason these take so long in between episodes is so they can think of a new game to play to decide who goes first

For everyone saying that $500 budget is high that's considerably lower than most best decks in eternal formats, and will always be something you can always enjoy to play, I've started this format with multiple budget decks since most cards from each one can be put into the next one so you always get to use the cards you want after you have a single copy
Edit: Also if anyone is looking for a more budget deck the selvala heart of the wilds deck has a $220 budget version that is very strong at cedh tables and one of my favorite budget decks I own still, I have even gotten offers from many people to buy it off of me
Mikhaeus has some very cheap versions but it is mono black so it is very weak to graveyard hate.

I love that budget Kess build! People are so quick to assume that you need to spend $1000+ in order to have anything remotely close to a cedh deck, which is not true. I run a budget cedh K'rrik Doomsday deck that cost me around $100. It definitely can use upgrades, but it is very consistent.
Guys, respect the Selvala. This is a perfect indication of what happens if you leave her alone. Once Selvala gets on the board she is an incredible value generator and very hard to deal with.

Yes I do. I don't really think any of them will be used as "companions" but some will actually see play either in the 99 or as the commander.

I honestly think the overloaded rift was a bit loose. Having Tasigur in play would have allowed for more interaction, especially with the first mills being Scepter and Tyrant. That throws him back so far.

I don't understand why so many people are complaining about a budget cEDH deck being $500. I would be willing to bet that most of them, if not all, own at least one deck in at least one format that is worth at least $500 in paper.
It's just like... have these people tried playing ANY constructed deck that isn't RDW? Off the cuff, standard decks are usually 300-500+, pioneer and modern decks are usually 500-800, and you need a mortgage to play legacy and vintage.

I knew that selvala is a thing in cedh but i didnt know the deck can go KABOOM like that. I looked at the list and it has some pricey staples but can it be built on a budget?
Yeah it can. Of course, it's less consistent, but you can build it for $300-$500 and have it still be a fairly consistent combo deck. If you want, I'd be happy to help you build it.
Mono colored decks are the cheapest ones for cEDH! You totally can build it on a budget! ^^)/

I'm honestly still waiting for the channel's tagline of "We play with the most powerful cards in the most powerful formats" to mean more than 'we play high powered cards/decks in a multiplayer format'.
Like yeah, cEDH, cool. But I'm being pitched 'Format*s*' and I'm still just just getting 'Format'. It feels like we're all forgetting Legacy exists, is high powered, is pretty fun and super competitive and interactive.

Cedh on a budget means for me under 80 dollars so my only deck is Anje.... Animate dragon
I gotta be honest, with how often multiple players consistently have multiple low cmc rocks out by T1-2 in most of these games, it's really shocking I haven't remembered seeing Meltdown or Gorilla Shaman in any deck that runs red in any of the lists I remember from this channel, and very few I've seen elsewhere. Resolving a Meltdown for 1-2 in most of those games on T2 would be huge deal and just like other efficient sweepers for problematic low cost powerful enchantments that never seem to be in lists, all the interaction is most reserved for counter-spells because they stop your opponent's counters from stopping you from going off while also stopping them etc. The game play ends up often defaulting to 'if people resolve their fast mana rocks or powerful enchantments they just sort of stay there most games because people don't run removal for them'.

Also an edh deck can build slowly, i build kess consul around 2 years or so... Probably around 500$ with the current price now... Comparing to standard when the meta rotates around 3-4 months, its still cheap

If you are interested in playing there is a cheaper deck which is selvala brostorm, it has a $220 version that I have tested at many cedh tables and always performs well

I find it funny how you recommend the cEDH Nexus community, especially when you wouldn't be able to play a majority of these decks because they're not listed on the cEDH Database.
I spent $1500 on my cedh deck and I thought that was budget.
To be fair the kess didnât really do anything special to really say it can hang with cedh decks. Sevala is really the only one who actually did something. Kess in general is just a great commander due to the value she gives you

Hermann HC in a 100 card deck, you have to expect a high âbudgetâ.
100 card deck and most of the cards can be used for different decks so it's a solid first buy to get started in a format, most eternal formats even have higher prices for the best decks so $500 is very reasonable

Unbudgeted CEDH can be up to $5000+
Modern decks are $2K, legacy and Vintage are $10K+
Standard and Pioneer are $500+.
I think Tim was doing VERY well for a deck that was only $500.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG yea I know realitive to the format it's cheap but for someone who's only exposure to cedh are these videos, it just feels crazy knowing that what is considered budget in this format is worth more than my entire collection and then some. Look, I'm not saying $500 isn't budget for a cEDH deck, but saying something like 'don't let anybody say you can't play cEDH on a budget' when that budget is $500 is really disingenuous. Yes, $500 is budget for a cEDH, but for a lot of people who play EDH that is not considered budget. Wasn't going to sat anything, but that closing line really got me steamed.

Have you tried playing standard and realized all of the competitive decks are $300+, unless you're playing RDW, yet? Or Pioneer? Or Modern?
