Same here. Phew... made my wallet cry seeing those turn 1's.
The combined value of that turn 1 is more expensive than anything I've ever owned, including my car.
That was actually the funniest win con Iâve ever seen.
They use a lot of Proxys, as you can see.
Facts tho
This game was surprisingly fair. I was not expecting to see significant creature combat. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a turn 3.
No turn 3 does seem a bit optimistic when their decks do still have 99 cards. Even with all the mana and card draw, that's a lot of cards to go through. Though, we were close to a 2 turn game because of the time vault turn 1.

EDH was played with no ban list for like 6 years before commander was invented. It was an awesome amazing format that nobody was playing to win. It was played for fun.

Commander is fine, I have zero problem with it. My problem is that people call it EDH/Commander and through that mistake millions of people have lost out on the opportunity to discover what EDH was.
If Commander was just called out as a different format at the beginning then it could live on just like it is today... but without millions of people having no idea what original EDH was or how it was different. Calling them the same thing RUINED the traditional EDH format.
About the 100th time I heard observer who's not playing get all miffed and tell me "those cards are illegal" I was ready to scream.

With no ban-list, I'm surprised no-one went with a Leovold deck.
It's not overpowered imo just people find it annoying and not fun which is what got it banned
@@cuttlefish6839 I'm going to argue Leovold would have added a lot more to the Sultai player than Sidisi. Sidisi is solid, but Leovold is insane levels of value. One Windfall resolves? Game. Edric sticks around? Easy day. Someone casts a Preordain? Oops.
Mike and garrett both discussed playing Leovold, but it just didn't end up coming together. It's very likely if we did this again, someone would be playing him.

I think the combo was already in his yard and he had a will in hand. He loses 2 coin flips max, as he has infinite birds the turn he plays the will, and attacks the next turn.

I feel like an optimal strategy for this would be to put every Ante card into your deck, since you get to remove them before the game starts, you essentially get to play with a 90 card deck.
Also I was really hoping for someone to cast a Shaharazad.

No banlist is the most fun. I think the correct way to control eternal formats isnât banning cards, itâs the easiest way but a better way is to just balance the playing field, also counterspells exist for a reason, uncounterable things with hexproof are annoying but thereâs ways around everything

Question for you, having played these decks. Do you think any of the banned cards you played would be okay if they were legal in Commander?
While some were super obvious why they should remain banned, there were some that left a feeling of "that's it"? Balance is the first one that comes to mind. Sure it's powerful for its cost, but what an amazing card it would be to help tip scales back into white's favor (no pun intended). Other colors have so many more tools to help run away with the game, and that card would do so much to reign them in.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG How did you feel about the Moxen? The Time Walk/Vaults were super obviously proven to be too strong.
@@CraigArgyleAudio They were super fun to play with, but they were definitely broken. If they were legal, it would always become a game of "who got the mox in their opening hand", kinda like a Turn 1 Sol Ring.
@@CraigArgyleAudio while moxes are cool they would simplify the format to 3 plus color decks. 1-2 color decks would not exist.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG Speaking from a non-cEDH perspective, wouldn't that just result in the turn 1 Mox player being hated out by the other players. If I remember correctly The Command Zone, had it in their statistics episode some time ago, that with a turn 1 Sol Ring, the avarage win rate went down.

Alex Browning They did, even the ones that own real timetwisters donât use real ones. They do make an effort to make it look real though to not ruin the experience.

I played in the 90's, and tried to get into the game a few years ago. I'm not big on drafting, and none of my friends play, but THIS is the closest thing I've seen to real 'back in the day' 90's MtG.
I did the same. I started missing the game again. I began to look up a lot of the older cards I had but left in Florida by mistake when I moved north. There is no way I will ever be able to afford to buy those over again. I couldn't believe how much the cost increased over the years. I was missing 6 duels (3 Savannah 3 Plato) in order to have a full play set. Soul rings, Mox Diamonds, sliver queens, FoW, and so on. Man I'm kicking myself now
A two hour game with six turns! Holy crap.
At first i thought "Ah yes, Paradox Engine again".
Then, when you said out loud "NO BANLIST" i thought "Oh. Recurring Nightmare. And SO MANY POWERFUL CARDS".

My all-time favorite card is Prophet of Kruphix and I know it's not the most competitive creature but I was disappointed it's not in any of the three decks with access to UG.
Ryan... I think it's your godo list... Would you cha get anything about your list? I pretty much have everything for it and was wondering if there was anything you would change to help improve it. Would you run any other equipment? Would you run goblin engineer? Etc. I want to have one list that is my straight up cedh that I can crush with and since I have everything but from monolith (which I just so happen to be buying anyways bc I need one in general) that I'd bud godo. Would you run burnout? And in place, what would you take out? I'm also wanting to know if there's anything you'd run to pull helm from exile. This is why I was wondering what other equip you would consider in case it does get exiled
Hey, I really enjoy your videos and especially the competetive aspect, but I find it selfrepeating that the good old isochron scepter + dramatic reversal combo and ofc paradox engine is often the wincon. It would be fun to see other ways to get infinite mana or so

I would love to play this game, a whole game with no boards wipes, this is why i love cedh. I have played with people who are nice, but complain about your land destruction, but they can wipe the board every turn, making games last 2 hours. I play Mono Green Wurms, its decent competitive, but against back to back board wipes not so much.
One of my homies once made a board wipe/permanent bounce deck with absolutely no wincon to speak of. Game lasted 5+ hours because we didn't scoop out of pure spite
