One thing you can do to prevent someone pulling your pin is to set your trailer brakes, apply tension forward, then set your tractor brakes. The pressure on the jaws won't let them open.

Concerning truck stops, I try to avoid the " chain " owned ones. Although I'm a company driver, I just go to the Love's to fuel and shower and about 85% of the time after I get fuel I park do my 30 break and grab my shower.. almost ALWAYS at midday when it's not busy at all I am almost done with my 30 break.. then near the end of my shift I find an independent owned truck stop.. the mom and pop ones.. the prices are reasonable for food and it's very good, hunker down for the night or day then pick up and roll. I guess I'm lucky because avoiding places like TA's Flying hooks/ Pilots and Love's I've never had any problems.

Im not a trucker, so please forgive me for the newbie-question; Would truckers stop pissing all over the lots if there were porto-potties at each fuel-island? Or are some truckers just that nasty/disrespectful that they'll piss even if theyre 2feet from a bathroom?

Some of the stuff I have heard here are a bit inflated.... Firstly the showers well personally every shower I have gone in is very clean that said I usually only stop at pilots and loves as I use the reward system. I get my feul head to a spot park book my shower and when im called I walk in and have a shower at no cost to me however always wear them flip flops. Second is price personally I have found nearly everthing everywhere is expensive anymore and again I try to stop at loves where I can use the point to offset cost not promoting them its just how it is. I have not once had a lot lizard come to my door but rather its usually meth heads beggin for scraps. As for theft well that not a truck stop issue its a pretty much anywhere issue if your hauling anyuthing thats not a flatbed then keep it all in your side hatches... as for me I am a long haul flatbedder and i bungee the shit out of everything on my headache board and making it time consuming makes you less of a target. Biggest thing is scumbags blocking the feul islands nearly every fucking time some ass has that shit blocked or worse they pull up and go inside for cheeseburgers and sodiewaters that takes they like 45 minutes. But that said everything said is legit. If i dont need a shower or feul then I prefer places off the beaten path as I usually bring all of my own food for my runs truckstop food will kill ya fast. Have a large fridge filled with decent food and premade meals ready to get thrown into a hotbox two 5 gallon jerry cans of water from the local artisian well plus plenty of other drink varieties stowed under the bunk. I am a company driver for a real decent small fleet.

Most states have a welcome center for cars ..welcome free coffee no trucks allowed.. truck welcome center = a crater filled dirt spot with a porta potty!!!! I used to joke that I wish I could reserve a spot , now they have reserve spots but I presume you have to pay for it? Sounds like you have to have cameras set up all over the truck so when someone walks near it beeps and sound so you can yell at them. So many low life people out there. Just saw a video where a driver peed on another truck. I guess the over price stuff is ok since you do not have to pay for parking. If you make you meals in the truck it is better. Once in a while if you crave something then the high price is worth it. Just duct tape your feet when you shower if you forget shoes. For the lot lizards I will have to make an outline of a stainless steel dude sitting and place it on both doors or paint the truck pink.

What do truckers think they are helping when they sit in the lane that’s closing 1/2 mile ahead to keep people from going to the merge point?

    • @lifedrivefitness9123
      @lifedrivefitness9123 Pƙed rokem +1

I have such mixed feelings on this topic. 1) if people would merge and just grab the first open spot it would keep traffic flowing, but I generally just put my truck in bull low and inch along with a half mile gap in front of me and not one car goes in it because they can race ahead to the front and gain an extra 2-3 car lengths and everyone has to come to a stop to let them in. So sometimes that one rig will crowd the merge lane to slow that down and traffic starts to flow again. 2) if the merge lane is crowded with cars actually trying to get on the highway and a truck is crowding the lane then he should get back in line and let the merge lane be used what it’s there for.
For the most part though people using the merge lane just tie up traffic and cause the long backups

I'll start first by saying: I'm not a trucker, although I've often considered becoming one and know a few people in the industry. But I do have a question for you. I've travelled across Canada in my car and often stayed/slept at truck stops and the like and always wondered; what's the proper 'unwritten' etiquette for car drivers in truck stops? I've always tried to stay out of the way of the trucks as much as possible, after all, it's easier for me to park my little car off to one side out of the way, then it is for a 40' -50' rig to squeeze in and these truck stops are meant for you guys primarily and I'm sure you "tolerate" us car drivers for the most part. But I haven't found anything about proper truck stop etiquette for car drivers. I have, however, seen some pretty ignorant "entitled" car drivers out there. Yeah, they make me mad too. (FYI, I'm the one flashing my lights on the highway to let you know it's safe to pull in front of me. 😉) Perhaps you can make a vid about it and include some courtesies on the road as well.

Sir. If you could please let me know or do a video on each aspect of anything that costs you $$.
(All rough estimates:)How long are showers? WE ARE ALL MEN HERE so do you care if its a public shower area like at public swimming pools or in starship troopers (women will have seperate shower cells)? How much for the length of shower? The quality of the bathroom vs what you guys need/ expect within reason. Should they sell crocks? Should they all have Vending machine outside shower for travle size toiletries(do they already do that or is it overpriced truck stop mart?
Why is there a toilet in the shower area? Gonna drop a sluge ball right befor or after a shower. Everyone already knows you are gonna piss in the shower in you feel like it. No one is a saint lol.
Thanks for any info. Im gonna hit some spots here in cali. But id like to know the struggle and the price gouging going on. Bame videos and see if they dont at least try to do better. Controversy is good for publicity, bad publicity is just bad publicity

I'm thinking about getting some land here in cali on the edge of towns by the lifeblood freeway. Like a 2 or 3 acre vacant commercial lot. Again, I aint got much lol.
      ADVENTURE!
Time to start selling goods outside truck stops at reasonable prices and gain that capital lol.
Why can't we go back to the good old days of low cost helping out your fellow man and making an "honest" buck off them.
Sorry for the rant lol. Too many thing in my head.

Many of these things do not happen that much at all. I guess it is because I stay in more safer regions of the country now. I drive at night as much as possible so parking and planning is not a huge problem. Loves usually have clean showers and it is where I usually stay at because the loyalty points as well as shower credits are great. I have not seen a lot lizard in years. Is it because I refuse to sleep in or near major cities where crime and all that đŸ’© is everywhere? Probably. I do worry about somebody hitting my truck though. I park in a place where it is least likely to happen and where I do not get blocked in as well. Fuel island hogging is a huge issue for me. That is about it. The one thing that really makes me angry is when I can hear the radio from another truck. That is because people just do not have respect. Jake breaks are so unnecessary in lots as well. One last thing I will mention is everyone speeding through the lots especially around corners where they can kill someone but then hog up the fuel islands and taking thirty minute breaks while there are plenty of spots available. People love to rush in front of me just to take longer than me and to slow me down. Hypocrisy is just something that humans have that I do not. I have to deal with it everyone's đŸ’©. It is always damned if I do, damned if I don't as well. That is a whole different subject though. Did I mention that everyone drives too fast in the lots when it is unnecessary and dangerous? Then they turn around and tell me to "be safe out there". People are a joke.

Can’t stand “drivers” that block in other drivers, especially in rest areas. 6am I see 2 and 3 spots blocked by an idiot parked behind a row of empty spots. Just lazy in my opinion.

I don't suppose that you can DO much of anything about that? Do cops actually give a shit? Seems like it's a pretty serious thing impeding commercial transport. Ought to be as serious a thing as screwing around with someone's mail box, like a federal thing.
