@@graysonshaver No, it’s the fact that he told all of them he was going to kill them, and them knowing he’s serious. Then he gets into the car with his wife and kids, like it’s nothing.

Him getting a lift from his wife got him out that situation especially when the daughter came over and he picked her up and started walking backwards to make sure he can see them still was priceless. They already knew it was over after that because that was their shot to get him alone.
"I am going to kill each and everyone of you" then proceeds to drive off with his children. That is some real psychopath shit right there.
Indeed, imagine if he was a real psychopath, he could’ve just killed the wife and children.
Of course, that would go against the script, but when he left with the wife and kids that sent chills down my spine.

What stands out to me in this scene is that, even though Dave knows McCall is a killer & will for sure come for them, he isn't worried if McCall would harm his family on the ride station because that's not how McCall is.

Brilliant use of body language throughout the conversation while they sat. Denzel remains open in his stance, unguarded, direct, always facing Pedro while Pascal portrays dave looking away, closed arms folded around his body, walking around, his sitting stance off line. Every body language of nervousness, lies, fear at being caught out, being intimidated.
That's because his wife and kids are in the house. I think it's normal to act that way so they don't overhear the conversation moreso than him being intimidated.

The algorithm has a transcript of the audio spoken in the video. Swear words will be picked up by the algorithm and potentially hinder its popularity. Something visual like a stabbing will not get flagged as often as profanity just because it is harder for the algorithm to determine that.
What i love is that even though he understood his old team were a bunch of disgruntled and disillusioned assassins, he was more disgusted at the fact that is was HIS old team killing HIS closest friend. You know he was hurt.

It's amazing how calm Robert is when he says he's going to kill each and every one of them. The only regret he has is he only gets to do it once. Then he calmly picks up Dave's daughter as he gets a ride from his wife. Classic.😁

That's a simple looking dialogue, but, very powerful. Unless what Denzel detected about Pedro and his betrayal is known to us, the heavy dialogue "Tell me I'm wrong, Dave" would look simple.

This is definitely one of Denzel's best characters. Amazing work. They're all great actors, too.
I like how he didn't care about all the reasons this guy was giving for doing his dirt. One could understand being upset about how the military treats people, but Robert's concern was that they murdered his friend and took their nonsense too far, killing innocent people for money. That's a perfect example of what I think makes this character so powerful and likable.

I Dunno what it is but sometimes nature can make a scene even more perfect and that wind blowing @8:53 as he is walking away doing his shooters at them is perfect. Usually a director would call cut bc the wind gets in the way or makes it look "messy" but i think it's perfect and clearly this director did to. Gives the scene "Theres a storm coming vibe, which makes sense for the ending."
I agree, it gives ominous without overdoing it, perfect.
It is not unlikely that there was a blower off screen to add more wind, the editing has been intentionally pushed cold and blue to make it feel more tense and oppressive, and the rustling of leaves is added in postproduction audio since the mics for the dialogue wouldn't pick that up properly
The trees in the back ground are blowing to. Im inthe film busines so you are correct that they could have a blower but a blower wouldnt be able to blow that wide and long of a range. Its mother nature baby. @@Galf506

Good point about the wind blowing and how that foreshadows there will be a storm coming up later in the movie in the form of Denzel getting justice.
Love how even amongst professional killers family will always be held to the upmost regard. He trusted the man who threatened to kill him to ride with his wife and children because he knew his family will not be harmed by this man, however in the same thought he knows this man will do anything from that point on to kill him.
Trained assassins need to have a code or else you can't cheer for them in a movie --- if McCall was gonna kill Dave's family, there is no way he could be the hero

@@tommitchell4570 Neither of them are heroes. They both killed names on a piece of paper. Dave continued doing what they were trained to do, just for someone else. Robert is just a little more naive about the nature of his work. Susan ordered them to kill people and would have had more blood on her hands than at least most of the people she ordered them to kill. By such accounts she deserved what she got, but Robert was sentimental about such a person who he referred to as a "friend". To her, him and Dave were just pawns on a chess board. Had either of them died in their line of service, she would have simply found some more maladjusted young men to recruit off the streets in their place.
I'd argue that it's just as much self-preservation for McCall. If McCall left on his own, there's a good chance that one of the four of them would try to quietly try to follow him and nip him in the bud. However, by saying aloud to the wife "Hey, your husband said you could give me a ride!", he forces Dave into a situation where he'll have to agree to let him go with his family (what's he gonna do, say "No, McCall's lying, don't go with him", and arouse suspicion?), and McCall gets three reasons why the other mercs won't try to kill him until he's safely away.

Such an underrated scene. The writing, acting, settings, music....all really well done. I know the movie may be a little silly in parts, but this scene is actually extremely well done.
This ain't one of them times. I like that detail that even when Robert is leaving and walking backwards, he doesn't turn his back to them until he grabs the kid, and he knows they won't shoot him in the back. Pure ruthlessness and strategy. Also given McCalls reputation and the fact, that these punks know exactly what he's capable off, they knew they're dead.

I never really thought about it before today but I feel bad for Daves wife and kids. They had no idea he was a killer and met the man who put their husband/father out of his misery right in their own home.
I just thought of that to while watching this. The man who was going to make his daughter a fatherless child was carrying her to the car.

He actually says “WE” including Mc. They were following the orders that came down to kill whoever they were told to. Pascal actually makes a strong argument that no one is really the enemy. Killing McCall best friends and Trying to kill his team leader was the mistake he tried to do, also liked how at 7:27 McCall was reaching for his piece checking if it was on him was ready to smoke all them
You have a good eye --- I think most people miss that part --- only an experienced assassin like McCall does that kind of check to make sure he's got firepower ready to go!
