Denzel Washington is a living legend of performance and acting. This man doesn’t need to win an Oscar to be the best. Equalizer trilogy is just phenomenal and is that special thanks to him.

Denzel is of course the king, but in Equalizer he didn't even have to work all that much. The scenes are directed, choreographed and edited incredibly well. Especially the first one is just one giant lecture on how to do action movies right.

I love that this franchise doesn’t delve too deep into McCalls past. It gives him a dark and mysterious aura that helps create the tension in these scenes

That's a good point! They could do a fourth movie that's a reboot with a younger actor that goes into his past. Equalizer, the Early Years or something like that!
Well, sorry to burst your bubble but the next E4 movie is projected to be a prequel and will delve into Robert McCall's past and what made him how he is. Unfortunately, Denzel is not planning to come back for the next movie. Maybe fans can help change his mind.

Watching Denzel never disappoints especially in the Equalizer movies. No other actor could do these movies justice.
Benicio Del Toro does as good in the Sicario series. Damon does as good as he can after the changed writing after the Second Bourne. Reeves, does what Reeves does in the John Wick series. But not on Washington or Del Toro' level of course.

To anyone who thinks that nobody can fight like the Equalizer does, I know a 5' 5" martial arts instructor who defended himself against nine bullies at the same time in Philadelphia's Fishtown section. He escaped with nary a scratch but the bullies had broken bones, lacerations, contusions, and (worst of all) permanently injured pride.
A life lesson: NEVER provoke anyone because he might just be as good as that instructor.

Denzel is THEE perfect actor for the role and character. He's so balanced and convincing for this part. His past is a mystery, which I actually like.
I love this third film and the whole entire series of films. A good homage to the brilliant 80s Edward Woodward CBS show. Denzel as always, had a great performance in this film and all three films. Brilliantly written, wonderfully acted, & beautifully by Antoine Fuqua. This film is a great way to close out the trilogy. An old assassin wanting to account for his sins and protects, defends, and ultimately rescues a small town in need. McCall gets his redemption and a chance at a happy life, ending, in a small Italian town. I just love the cold look Robert gives at 6:40 after he kills the brother. Just chilling, that, and that music.
But,,,,, do you know why Edward Woodward has 4 letter "d" 's in his name? Because if he didn't he would be Ewar woowar 😅
Denzel is phenomenal but i wanna give props to that guy in the first scene. The way he portrays the immense pain really does sell it.

@@ChillClinton1999 never thought that deep into it and besides it's personal opinion anyway...but Denzel Washington and Daniel Day Lewis would for sure be on the top end of the list for contemporary actors... there's not one movie that they have made where they didn't give their best and all are worth watching more than once. Another reason why I like and respect Denzel Washington is that he's not some shallow Hollywood twat...he's smart, wise, philosophical and has a strong masculine command presence off stage as well and in that....I see in him a lot of the qualities my father had so maybe there's a bit of bias too lol.

The character of Robert McCall should be retired if Denzel himself retires from that role....he owns the role and no one else could pull it off. The Wick movies are fun though and Reeves is a legitimate expert on the gun range with top tier training. I can appreciate those things because I'm a gun nut and a range regular myself.
@664John Wick has high body count so you get a lot of value for money watching his movies. The concept of assassin's guild is always cool. But equaliser has brutality to it that I wish was in Batman movies where everything happens so quickly that you forget it's just second nature for crime fighter-ninja-bat person to be sneaky, fast and smarter than criminal masterminds that he has it all planned ten steps in advance. John Wick is just pure skill alone. Equaliser gives me what I want to see in a Batman movie. Nolan Batman flicks were good but his weakness was not being strong with action. (that's a shame given Batman is martial arts expert and would have the same skills The Equaliser guy has by identifying weaknesses and exploiting these along with paying atterntion to fine details that comes from being detective with high IQ)

denzel is a true pro in all he does. ever since i first saw him in cry freedom in late 1980s, always fascinated by his performances.
recently he did a film called "the little things" set in the 1990s. very down beat serial killer movie, and nothing like this action character, but once again his inner skills - spirit, psychology, emotional intelligence - render an impressive delivery, which might otherwise be boring but for washington's special skills as an actor. all the comments reflect this observation.
I've always enjoyed Denzel Washington's movies. I also have great respect for him as a person. He has given a lot of his money to charity and doesn't live the traditional Hollywood lifestyle.

If you want to satisfy your media depictions of justice and revenge against the bad guys, watch the 80s show The Equalizer - a lot of cool stories about capable people helping the small person who needs help. Awesome premise, and McCall in that show is slightly older and more dependent on subterfuge and trickery, but still kicks some asses.

Just re-watched the first Equalizer movie a few days ago and forgot how badass of a movie it was. The Denzel version of the "Taken" series but more grit to it. Love it.

Denzel Washington is a great American man. His characters and how he portrays them are cool, no doubt. Insanely talented. But watch his interviews, man is fearless.
To me Denzel always gets a 5 star rating from me, because he is just one hell of an actor and you could put him in any trilogy and he would not look out of place and can you imagine if he joined my favourite trilogy that being the Fast and Furious and for me that would be absolutely one fantastic addition to the family.
When you watch Denzel he plays every scene with all his heart and that is a truly remarkable and for me this is why he is a true Hollywood legend and a true Hollywood icon as well and I have only but respect for Denzel and truly gifted actor that is for sure.
I read somewhere that Denzel Washington approaches all his characters and roles very seriously and thoroughly. Hats off.

Doing the Equalizer trilogy, in his 60s, like he has performed is amazing. I remember his early movies before star power knowing he would become a legend when he ends. He has not proven otherwise having the pleasure watching most all his movies.

The whole scene with him telling the kid "You don't know what death is" really did kick in for me - After going through some hardships and hearing this it really hit me hard. From that day forward hearing this I focused so hard on myself. Its shocking what movies can do to change your life.

C'mon, they'd get along pretty well. Wick is not hurting the crowd, he's after the wet fellows.
I'd love to see a scene like Luke & Yoda, or Blade & Crickett - they have chance to meet, to share their visions, Wick will get an enlightning moment or two, then will be sent away before they will come after him. Wick just punches a line 'just 10 seconds. And a half', while the equalisation of unwanted guests is happening and gunshots flashes are fading away in the dark behind his back.
