He's good but he's no Sean Bean...
He even started to SMASH HIS FACE IN LIKE THIS
I like how they all have military gear on and Denzel has a collared shirt, jacket, and some pants on.
Equalizing Gear
Well John wick wore suits
That's why he can hold hot silencers, has unlimited ammo, and doesn't need sights.
They're all wearing some magical clothing that doesn't get wet.
If there's one thing watching Archer taught me, it's that you only need a turtle neck to cause mayhem.
My experience as a Marine was slightly different.
Between John Wick and The Equalizer we really need to see more movies like this. The idea of one man successfully defending himself against people who are trained to "tie up loose ends" is just so satisfying to me. That and the fact that he always wins without doubt is the best part.
Yeah, it's called a power fantasy.
They're grey men as the military calls them. Maybe googling that will help find more filma
If you like Denzel, The Book of Eli is another good one of his. :)

At least in JW it looks like somewhat of a battle. Here he's just a marvel superhero
That ending was straight up surgical murder.
In summary, ruptured left globe, severed right axillary artery, vein and nerves, lacerated left femoral artery, punctured left lung with probable pneumothorax, all topped off with a nasty severed spine at the C3 to 5 level.
He's truly dead, many times over.
The fall over the rocks was just the cherry on top.
thx
I watched a surgeon perform a surgery on me once thanks to a nerve block. I chose nerve block over Propofol. Anyway, we were chatting away as I watched the procedure on the monitor. The surgeon said it is all about anatomy, and you know what? I could literally see what he was referring to. The most amazing thing about it is he knew his way around the anatomy like he was in his own kitchen.

Good point, but he was dead long before he hit the rocks 😂
That man died several times. After all the brutality, the fatality, and falling on the rocks below, that's the deadest I've ever seen anyone in a movie outside of getting their head cut off or getting blown up.
"Evil can never be dead enough."
Well, he slashed his limbs and stabbed him in the chest and gouged his eye out and they severed his spine and then kicked him on to the rocks. He fucking dead man!!!
Jeremy Renner in "The Town" looked really dead too lol
Previously he said he would kill them once.. he did it thrice anyway
czcams.com/video/TwyFTRGiIUU/video.html
The look in his eyes at the end it’s like the main villain finally realized what true darkness is looking into them
Shark's eye. Dead.
My immediate thought was "I am become death".
His brain is still trying to comprehend what the hell just happened. He'd just been bragging so arrogantly that there was absolutely no way Mac was ever going to beat him and only 1 minute later Mac had completely decimated him and was about to land the final blow. The guy is thinking "This is impossible! How did this happen? How did I lose so completely? What the fu@k just happened?"
*eye (the other is gouged out).
As an aside, I think Denzel's Equalizer movies depend too much on gory torture and injuries.
@@kjrehberg 😂
This scene really shows why Mac was their team leader. He knew Dave was a coward and would be able to pick off his crew one by one and would never come down from his hiding place to help them, even when it was down to his last guy.
I thought that when I watched this scene. "Why is he not getting down there to help his guys?" When he saw his last guy killed, he starts playing tough then freaks out.
Denzel is one of the greatest. One of the greatest actors; and one of the greatest men. He, unlike most Hollywood stars, is worthy of respect and admiration.
I used to think that, but then I realized that you don't really move up and get to star in movie after movie if you aren't part of their secret society 'Hollywood Club'.

That final scene on the tower yikes..Knocked his teeth out, sliced his limbs, punctured his lung, jabbed into the back of the neck, kicked off 100 ft onto rocks..Ultimate revenge.
And a thumb in the eye.
You could hear him sever the spinal cord with that knife in the neck. Epic.
He really wants to make sure this guy is dead.
That was not a puncture of the long, that was a direct strike to his heart, just as how he killed the lady. Denz3l was giving hi, the same exact strike and feel, hence he paused and looked in his eyes, as though to say, "how does this feel as whole?"
Pretty sure he jabbed the knife in the back of his neck, then proceeded to sever his spine with an additional extra swipe. Maybe to make sure he couldn't move and just fall to his death.
Man that cut across the entire back of the neck before the kick. That one gets a reaction out of me.
i watched that one slice 6 times and cringed every time...
This scene was filmed in the Brant Rock section of Marshfield, Massachusetts, a small seaside town south of Boston. I live not far away and am there all the time. The tower is an old WWII submarine watch tower and believe it or not it's a private residence and has been for years. The only downside is I don't think there's an elevator.
Ok so did they have to borrow the place from the owner to shoot the movie? How could there be so many pigeons in the place if it's habited?
@@dttra566 They would have had to because the thing has been a private residence since the 70's at least.
Pretty sure those were movie stunt pigeons....
Yeah and he shot the transformer so it wouldn't have worked anyway, just like the fans in the bakery.

This scene actually taught me what a dust explosion is. I had no idea
I seem to remember the second to last guy agonizing after the explosion and trying to put his intestines back inside his body
That was actually flour, and they are really combustible and become explosive when they are dusted in the air and lit on an open fire or spark
Actually, grain dust explosions are a real hazard in grain elevators.
This is how coal miners are dying. Coal dust is deadly. During such explosion the only thing that is left of poor workers are only shreds.

sept 1 2023, could be the making of an all time great action trilogy.
@@lostmymarbles9151 Hey go away. We don't want your bs.
This was an underrated action thriller. For whatever reason it didn't review well, but I thought it was quite thrilling and exciting to watch. Especially the knife fights.
Denzel is proof that people don't care whether the main character in a movie is (insert race/ethnicity here). We just care that they're good in the part and that the character and plot are good. I could name a dozen such movies and most of them aren't action packed thrillers. There is no denigration of a particular person/people either. I never turn down a Denzel movie.
🎵 “People only care when you Denzel or Oprah” 🎵
I'm nearly 40 and grew up watching 80s and Early 90s action movies. Denzel has always been one of my favorite actors because he can do it all so effortlessly. Action, Drama Romance and Comedy. He's got it.
He nailed that landing tho, Judges: 10.0, 10.0, 10.0
and what a flip!
I admire the fact that Denzel knows which electric pole to bust, that'll take the power off from every structure in the neighbourhood... except the bakery. :)
Jokes apart, a very gripping movie. Well made and value for money.
How David dies, too refreshing.
That's how you miserably, painfully kill the culprit. No exceptions, no other alternative.
Not going to lie.. The scene from 3:00 to 3:45 where he works his magic with the knifes was pretty badass. No mercy!
"Mac made a f*cking mess of him!'....indeed.
and compared to how York killed Susan (him looked guilty and silently stabbed her), his deliverance by Mac is a total payback, with interest.
czcams.com/video/WyusDvSNT5k/video.html A musical rescore I made of The Equalizer 2.
That part in the bakery with the flour and the fans is a great example of having intimate knowledge of your opponents training, habits and mannerisms, and then placing a trap that not only takes advantage of those, but would only be set off by those specific mannerisms. You would not be wrong in also assuming that the flour-fan setup was meant to be a makeshift smokescreen, as it fulfills that purpose as well, although not to as great an extent.
Although it might not be immediately apparent to a casual viewer, a staple of the US Armed Forces is to toss in flashbang grenades in the first part of forced entry. Flashbangs explode, providing a source of ignition. The fans provide a means of a homogenous mixture of air and flour particles. And, as it turns out, aerosolized flour, much like aerosolized sawdust, combusts rapidly enough to be considered a makeshift explosive.
In both WWI and WWII German demolition experts were very good at setting such elaborate traps - one example - US troops came into a town and had learned to be wary of German traps. There was a building some of them were starting to go into, but they looked into the window and noted a barrel near the door. So they got an attack of the clevers, hitched a line to the door knob, and went to a trench/ditch about 20-30 feet away and pulled at the doorknob - but the booby trap was tied to explosives in the trench, not the door.
You need to be extra creative to kill smart opponents.
@@timothydavidcurpyup!!
I respectful agree.
Fight scenes are amazing but the scenes with just dialogue and no action were the most intense and deep in this movie. This is easily in top 5 movies I’ve ever watched in 50 years. It delivers so hard!

The Equalizer just going to work with those knives was some of the most satisfying shit in the whole franchise

Equalizer 1 and 2 are both the best action movies I've seen. The suspense, the acting, the fight scenes and the plot are second to none. Absolutely amazing movies. And in my opinion Robert McCall is much better, smarter and better fighter than John Wick or Jason Bourne. Not to mention that he's such a good guy with a good heart.
I think man on fire was better.
"better, smarter and better", wow! Rock that review. Jason and John can hold their own. Variety in the genre is a great thing. Even Jack is welcome.
@@spencerhansen8374 No doubt about that. Just saying that Robert McCall is exceptionally good at what he does in the movies.
I simply don´t agree about the fight scenes being that good. The choreography is actually well made, with how economical the main character is, but mainly the first movie is just edited in that Bourne style i cant stand. Constant cuts, constant camera angles changing and i cant enjoy the fight choreography that way. The second movie is little bit better with the editing, but the progress is minimal.
@@jackcravford8744 I think you will like Equalizer 3, if you haven't seen it yet. I think they got better with editing and there are less cuts. The longer the take in a fighting scene, the more realistic it seems to me. It is just sometimes probably difficult to show certain moves without cuts, but indeed constant ones like in Bourne (Which i truly love and find it a great movie) are exhausting. In these terms, Oldboy's corridor fight wins, interesting movie as well IMO.
This may be one of the best atmospheres in a movie I’ve ever seen
Cops evacuating the island: “There’s a wicked storm coming in. The winds are so high that you need to evacuate.”

One last time to cap off a trilogy would be perfect. Maybe even have him go out in a blaze of glory and redemption at the end. I'd accept that.
It's like Roger Moore in the 70s/80s Bond films. That was the Bond I grew up with - and I LOVED Moore in all of those - But even I would agree he stayed with the franchise 2 movies too long. Arguably maybe 3 movies too long.
