- The All Wood Muscle Wood log splitter along with the All Wood log staging table is a huge asset when splitting big blocks for fire wood! Rachel and I team up to turn big cotton wood rounds into small campfire splits. The bigger the round the more wood you get from it but they also require more work. This splitting table definitely makes the hard work easier! Firewood can be tough work so we are sharing our methods to save your back and make the job easier.

She is a trooper, struggling with those big rounds while you hold the camera.
I give her credit.
She doesn’t want help, did you noticed she set me straight for trying to help when I did lol.
Y'all are absolutely amazing as always! You're such a wonderful team. God Bless you. Chip
Thank you Chip! Appreciate the comments!
Rachel is a hard worker and she is the best looking wood splitter that I have ever seen.
Thank you, and yes she is!!
Heath, you might be the hard working man but Rachel is definitely one hard working woman ! All wood splitter plowed through that wood with ease.
Yea she is, and the All Wood is a beast!
Great demonstration. Awesome video as usual. Rachel should be a model for chainsaw and log splitter companies. You two are a dynamic power couple.
Thanks Brian!
Teamwork makes the dream work
Yes sir! So much more fun working together.
Man I can smell that wood through my screen. That wood will throw some nice flame once it’s dry. Good job guys
Jason, nice flame for sure. Luckily this stuff wasn’t too slimy like a lot of cottonwood.
You both have white hats on.
You must be the good guys.
That’s got to be the nicest splitting cottonwood I have seen! Cottonwood definitely is on top of my do not like list and I will not let my tree services drop it here. Great job team👍💪👍
Jeremiah, this was the nicest splitting cottonwood I’ve dealt with as well.
What a happy couple 😂
We are, but not all sunshine and rainbows lol.
I never get tired of watching the Wood Bunny 🐰 run the splitters! But that other guy who's always hangin' around her and yappin' ( Homer, I think? I dunno).........he seemed a little testy at the beginning of the video!!😁
She definitely demands attention in the Woodyard. I have a feeling that Homer is here to stay though. He seems to have some connections or something.
Good day to both of You 👍👍😇😇👌👌🌞🌞OUTSTANDING Hard Working Husband and Wife Team Work 👌👌😇😇👍👍Cheers 🍻🍻
Thank you, it’s a lot more fun working together that’s for sure.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors 👍👌😇🍻
What a great pair with the All Wood table and splitter. Super teamwork as you guys worked through those big rounds. Thanks for sharing!!
Not the most fun day of splitting but we got it done! Thanks for watching Obie!
Nice video Heath and Rachel. Those big rounds take a lot of work but they really produce a lot of splits. Thanks for the shoutout Heath!
Yes they do and you’re welcome!
That has to be the nicest splitting cottonwood I have seen. I see it’s bark less so the wood has dried on the outside. Nice job you to. Take care.
Thank you, I agree it definitely split better than most! Not nearly as slimes either.
Great looking hat my friend, thanks for the shout out! Nice job handling those huge rounds, they are a ton of work but it's also a ton of firewood. I think that table is perfect in your processor setup!
Thanks Tony! I agree the table makes the set up work.
Least favorite wood ....ahhh id say the kind you have to buy in but thats just me cause im cheep lol. Lota work to get big rounds on the table but i think ya get better quality splits from them big rounds . Great video you guys .
Thanks Phil, you can definitely carve some nice splits from the big rounds. I thought for sure your least favorite right now would be massive heavy oak rounds. Glad to see you’re healing up!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Trust me i aint a fan of them big oak rounds either lol.
Heath when U get those big rounds half split and they are stuck. Leave it sit on the butt end and push it through the wedge on its side with the 4 way all the way down. Works really good
Thanks, I’ll have to give that a try.
Nice work Rachel, Heath was a little late relieved you😂 like John says a single wedge may be less frustrating, Good Video 👍🏼🪵🇺🇸
Thanks, the single wedge definitely worked better for these rounds! Sometimes less is more.
One big round is a lot of hard work but produce a lot of wood , less picking up wood if you can keep the split piece on a table 😍👍
Len, for sure. Looking back I should have ordered the larger table!
That looked like it went fairly well for splitting cottonwood. Here, it's usually very knotty. Fortunately, I haven't had any in years to deal with.
Yeah Bobby, it was probably the best I’ve dealt with.
I've found that cheap, low-grade woods such as cottonwood, willow, poplar, basswood, box elder, etc suck as a campfire wood by themselves. But mix it with oak and cottonwood is a great firewood.
I agree, stand alone they aren’t great but a little bit mixed in helps with easy lighting and a better flame.
She's a keeper for sure. Somebody's got to hold the camera.
Mark, for sure. Rachel is one of a kind!
Yes, by all means save the back! Shalom/gw
We’re getting better at it!
That's the way to win wrestling match, Rachel! Keep on keeping on. 😊
She loves to challenge herself that for sure.
That's the kind of stuff i like .
Michael, I definitely prefer about a 14” round through the 8 way wedge, one push 8 splits.
Great job Rach before Long you will be able to bench press Heath!😂
For sure! She’s a worker.
I'm glad Rachel was using her hook in this video 😂
She loves her hook!
I love seeing you all get this wood cut up, I can remember when I was younger we had to cut wood 🪵🪓 I loved it, I don't know this young lady name, but she knows her job, she does a great job.
Thank you Shirley. Her name is Rachel.
those cute campers with their small firewood splits hehe. I totally get it though. I don't think I fully realized how my security is based on tourism... Loons lakes, campfires, boats/pontoons etc.. so don't bite the hand that feeds ya, eh? 😇
Campfire wood is where the $$ is. Heating wood is people trying to save $$. Beers and bonfires!
She's wining today
I can’t say it was our most fun day of splitting. I don’t love the big rounds.
Nice view
Thanks Barry.
Great video. Thought for a little while yas were gunna fight. 🤭🤭. My bet would be on Rachel. 🤭🤭
Least favourite wood is poplar. But not necessarily to work with. Next, white birch. The bark makes it hard to work with. And it’s just a so so wood. Get it before it rots. We have that stringy wood here, but I don’t know what type of wood it is. It’s hard to work with. But good wood other wise.
Have a great day team. 👍🏻
Noel, white birch is a pain with the bark! I like poplar for campfires.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors 👍🏻
Good video and job I don't like any thing that's full of knot's. I split them with a chain saw now I'm to old . I hate to saw down paradise trees I got my arm broke when one split. Take care, be safe and well.
I have yet to noodle a round but thinking without a tractor or skid steer mounted splitter this may be the way to go with some.
Cottonwood's the one that plugs up your Carrier a/c. And their heck if you have a swimming pool.
Oh yeah, I have a big ol cottonwood in the yard I want to drop but Rachel says no. May have to fell it when she’s gone, there’s no putting it back up once it’s down.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Rachel's going to tie a Doberman Pincher to it.
hi there interesting splitting . john
Thanks John, I think the single wedge was the ticket for these rounds.
i found in the past on the big rounds the multi split wedge saves on the splits but in the same time increases chancing the splits around slowing the final splitting time down . @@hardworkingmanoutdoors
Heath, you best not get sassy with Rachel, after seeing her toss around those rounds.😅
Kenny, no doubt!
That's got to be the best splittin' cottonwood I've ever seen! No cuttin', or tearin', just splittin'!- Seem to me the staging table could be a little lower. Maybe the splitter table could be bigger, then you wouldn't need that staging table at all. - Rachel does pretty well! She needs to remem that there's no right or wrong way to split wood, but there are preferred ways!!
True, everyone seems to do it a little different. I may try to lower the table a little when we set up our more permanent processing center.
Let me know when your going to do the special with both Rachs in there
Pick a day and head on over.
Wow these are massive rounds, but that machine is a beast.Great work you two.
Marcel it is a beast!
Wow, my back is sore just watching ya’ll! Actually, it was already sore from using my new Magnetic Induction Heater Sunday to change out plow sweeps. Check your junk file for the write up, Heath. Ya’ll stay safe and keep the videos coming! -Jack
Thanks Jack, I’ll check it when I get home! I still need to find a project to try that on.
I like the grapple attachment.
Love that grapple! It definitely comes in handy.
Hey Heath and Rachel. Not sure I would have even bothered with Cottonwood, but if it sells for you, then go for it. You may have had an easier time with the Axis.
We will be running some big rounds through the Axis soon. The cottonwood mixes in well with campfire wood but definitely wouldn’t sell it as a stand alone.
That is a nice rugid tarp!
Thanks JB, it definitely is.
Stacking in the tote will give you a more consistent quantity in each tote plus you get more in each tote.
True but this wood will just be mixed in to our bundles and roadside stand and tossing it in is a lot faster.
Sweet gum is some of the worst I've ever split. That was quite the workout wrestling those big rounds. Good job!
I’ve never split Gum but have not heard much good about it’s splitting characteristics.
Them big rounds!
Yes they were and heavy!
I think you need to mark somehow the orange wedge support so when you know the size you want at the lowest setting it can be put there within reason instead of guessing. At least until she can get use to the 4 way.
The only problem with that is each round splits a bit different depending on knots, diameter, etc. it takes a bit of learning and guessing.
That’s some heavy work, I dread that kind to stuff with my 12-22. So much handling. Messing with That big stuff is when I wish I had an axis. I feel like that machine is ideal for breaking down the big pieces and dicing them up!
I have some big rounds to run on the Axis coming up! Also have a stack of blocks to run the 1/3rd of a cord challenge with the 12-22, we’re coming for you lol.
Rachel where's your safety glasses!!😂
Thanks Heath!! Protect those pretty eyes!
She forgot for a minute after running Zach to the football game.
I want her to be able to see how amazing I am 😂. Have to protect her eye sight.
Rick in Rick out doors split big rounds all the time
We do occasionally but definitely prefer smaller stuff.
The Eastonmade Axis is equally good at processing big rounds into what every size split you desire.
I have some big rounds I plan on running through the Axis soon!
Okay maybe not effortlessly, but certainly much easier 😂
@@adirondackwoodsman true true.
👍
Thanks!
Your wife is the boss of your roost
She’s a great woman for sure.
That table or any table for that matter is a nice addition but those rounds are too big to be muscling around. I'd rather take the time to noodle them down or invest in a skid steer splitter (if you have a skid steer). I can get a lot of huge rounds from a tree service and bought a Wolferidge skid steer splitter and it's saved me many back issues.
I do not have a skid steer, I’d love one. I could run that style splitter off my tractor but I don’t often deal with the big rounds. The next big rounds will go to the axis, then may try noodling.
For those huge rounds wouldn't it have been better to use a vertical splitter?
John, looking back it may have been. The next big rounds we have will go on the Axis.
nice wood splitter. How many tons of pressure is that machine?
It is rated at 25 tons.
bonjour sais un diesel t a fendeuse un super boulot💪💯
Thank you, this is a gas version but the new Musclewood splitter is diesel.
merci pour ta reponce@@hardworkingmanoutdoors
Heath have you considered modifying the table to Rachel's left, a flatter extension then you guys wouldn't have to chuck those pieces back over the table reducing wasted energy
I have not, I have considered slightly lowering the table but that would take quite a bit of work. However when we get our semi permanent firewood processing center set up I may recess the table into the ground a little to lower it to the perfect height.
Good idea with labeling the totes, Heath. However, for Rachel’s sake, the Axis would’ve been the better choice - no lifting those enormous rounds or splits. Believe it would’ve been faster as well. Just my opinion.
Looking back I think you may be right, the next big rounds we have will be hitting the Axis!
I have never split cottonwood. For the most part your rounds didn’t split too bad. I’m not a fan of splitting Hickory! Nice work Heath and Rachel 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Todd, some Hickory splits tough for sure. This cottonwood wasn’t too bad. Some is stinky, slimy, and stringy. At least Hickory is a premium wood!!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Yeah I have split willow and it split fine just stinks! We have so much good hardwood’s offered to us that I can afford to turn down cottonwood and elm now.
@@toddsoutsideagain I have plenty of good wood too but cottonwood dries so fast and throws a good flame. I’ll pull it once in a while to mix in.
I don't care nothing for gum trees reason why I haven't been commenting is because I am fixing everything to get ready. Plus been over doing it with a broken finger still
Carl, I have never dealt with Gum. On a positive note your shirt is packed up and should go in the mail tomorrow. Been working quite a bit of overtime lately so it’s a little behind.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors no worries thank you
Why are you not using your box wedge on the Eastonmade splitter for these big one??
The 12-22 was tucked away in the garage, we will be getting it out here shortly for a few videos. If we had the pull back arm it would definitely be out.
Heath, are you able to shorten the return stroke on that allwood? Looks like it's at 20-22"s and you're splitting 16-17"s... that makes a world of difference in time and energy...
Greg, not that I know of unless you catch it and stop the stroke yourself. It returns so fast though it’s hard to do.
Those big rounds are just a lotta wrasslin!! Would love to see if the Axis would be neater and easier than the horizontal....
Greg, I have some big rounds lined up for the Axis.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Don't forget to keep a decent edge on your splittn blades. Just as important as power saw chains.
@@gregprince2523 for sure.
Maybe you can sell a lot of wood and upgrade your muscle wood to a bigger tray and auto cycle?
Eddie, I am working on a conveyor set up right now that may make the small table okay. Autocycle is in the works!
A box wedge would of been nice.
The Axis would of been easier.
Jimmie, I am starting to think so as well.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors 👍
How do you know, which is good wood, and fire wood.....
We burn the punky or less desirable looking wood and sell the nice clean straight splits.
When was this filmed?
Here in Ohio, we dont have leaves on our trees.
This was in September
Poplar, because it burns up fast (bang for buck type deal). It's alright.
I like poplar for a campfire mix!
Willow is the worst wood to work with it goes straight to the dump! Wet Cottonwood is pretty awful too.
This cottonwood wasn’t terrible but it’s been cut for a while.
Cotton wood makes someone very grumpy... could it be Rachel?
Lol, cottonwood or me?
You do seem to have a way of getting under her skin... but that's when you know they love ya!
@@dennishall9260 oh yes I do! I can’t help myself.
Wouldn't your 6 way do a better job?
Looking back it probably would have saved us some work.
Elm, when it is green, would be my least favorite.
Green elm is nasty as well!
You gave up on the four-wat? Too stringy
Yeah, the single wedge did a better job with these rounds.
Glad I didnt have to smell that nasty crap. At least with the bark off it didnt look all slimy. Rachel I would say cottonwood is least favorite. Wilow is a close second but does split better.
Bert, it definitely wasn’t as slimy as usual. I’ve never messed with willow. I have a tree clean up job coming up if the rain ever stops and I can get to it. A giant willow half in a pond. I don’t plan on splitting it though just removing it and piling it up for a big fire.
Elm
Elm is nasty as well.
Personally I think that your new splitter would of worked better for camp wood with how small you split it
Jimmy, the Axis or the 12-22 with box wedge may have been a better choice for these rounds.
Cotton wood get bad reputation from all you guys with all that good wood. I don’t like residential pine blue spruce. I got some gum or elm one time. I had to 1/4 them with the saw. Cotton is my main wood. You got to have a hatched or axe next to the splitter. Nice work. I think Rachel could take ya from what I seen here 😂
Dan, we are definitely spoiled here in Michigan with a lot of great firewood! I’m not messing with Rachel!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors if you want anything other then pine and cotton and popular. You got get it from people’s yards. I not sure ever seen oak tree I sure some in parks and such. It cold here and we get it done with pine and cotton wood. About only time my fire goes outs once week or 2 weeks when clean it. Fill it up shut it down and still coals in the morning.
@@danshouseofsmokeandoutdoor7119 all wood has btu’s! Better than buying gas or oil!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors exercise. Why got to work out when can make wood. The heat is unmatched so warm.
Willow is absolutely the worst to work with. It ruins your chain in an instant.
I have never heard much good about willow for firewood!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors I heard it takes forever to dry. And when burning, it smells like skunk.
New toy!! No new kitchen?🤔
Story of my life!
If you were neatly stacking the wood, I don't think you would have sticks coming out between the bars.
True.
EastonMade Axis produces better wood with minimum waste,
I have some big ol rounds ready for the Axis!
Rachel, you're not in a good mood today!!!!!.?..
I think the video made her look in a worse mood than she was lol. Today she says man everyone thinks I was grumpy but I wasn’t. I’ll get her back to some premium splitting ash and multi split wedges! She likes going fast!
Time for another wet t shirt video!!
Lol, we will see.
Your spiting girl is having a BAD day
She just prefers nicer wood and the multi split wedges. Big cottonwood rounds aren’t much fun.
