Vintage MF35 Tractor, Stihl 044 & Family Gathering Firewood!

- Does it get any better than this? Tractors, chainsaws, family, and firewood! We made A few repairs and upgrades to the old Massey Ferguson 35 and it’s back to work. We spend some great family time as Rachel and the boys help salvage more Ash firewood created by the emerald ash borer. The Vintage Massey Ferguson 35, Stihl 044, and the DR Log Trailer make it a lot easier filling up our dump trailer. Now we have some more wood to run through our All Wood and Eastonmade log splitters! Roadside stands will be filled shortly! I used my Stihl 044 chainsaw for most of the bucking but also got to try pull the Makita with the Tsumura Long Bar for some of the thicker parts of the tree.

Thanks for the ride.
Thanks for watching!
That broken tree you did you do it the right way to do it on the video my friend to people to do right 👍👍👍
Thanks Eugene, I’ve learned from my mistakes over the years.
Love rhe old tracker keep up the good work
Thanks, it’s a workhorse for sure.
Seeing that old fergie taking off with the loaded trailer on reminded me of our one on the farm. My old man said it had a"light switch clutch" no subtilty. Engaged or disengaged. Great video team. Cheers from HB NZ
Thanks! Love that thing!
You two are funny counting the inches. That domar is Awesome. Fast high revving saw. Back in the day they were the go to saw. Really enjoyed your video
Thank you, it’s a shame that Makita dropped them. I really like that saw.
Hello Guys, Thorn Heaven there😜 Good Family Fun, well maybe😂🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Hello, lucky for the rest of them I’m the only one who got into the thorns!
Hey Heath and Rachel , I love the MASSEY , to bad it doesn’t have a bucket or grapple on it !!!!! 👍🏻🇺🇸🪵
Deal, I agree! Thanks for watching.
Love the tractor my neighbors, trying to get me to purchase some thing similar 👍
It definitely comes in handy!
Nice to see the family out working together. You just don't see much of that anymore. The boys are being raised right. Great job to you all.
Thank you Ed, we are doing our best to raise hard working respectful kids.
Down and dirty,✅Heath and Rachel ❤😮
Thanks Todd!
Your right is some nice Ash
For sure! Thanks for watching!
Nice looking woods
Thanks 👍
that's what i did last year. Rod helped me (neighbor). dead standing trees. and laying off ground trees. Some of it was wet yet (like a RR tie), and ants lol. The point is 'no wait' firewood. Should have enough, but watching this makes me nervous that I should get back out there! HA! Lazy W, M, get your T-shirts! lol
There is so many down ash trees out there. Unfortunately a lot of them are pretty punky. Still a lot of good wood to get. We’ll be back out for more!
Hi Heath and Rachel. One thing about a stick and chalk is it never runs out of batteries. I would love a tractor and trailer at my property it would get used a lot. Take care guys.
Thanks Dean, I picked this ol Massey up cheap and it will definitely put pull my atv by a lot!!
Great to see a couple working together. My wife and I did that for 11 years in her certified accounting practice . We're still together. Also, the MF 35 tractor was the one we used when I was a youngster in the early 60s. Great fun to watch videos!
Definitely love working together and using the old Massey! Appreciate the comment! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoy it.
Hard working family. Thanks. God bless you and your family.
Thank you, blessings to you and yours as well.
Always a good day when ya got family out working together . Wish we had more of that ash up here that stuff splits so nice an dont take very long to dry . Should make some nice bundle wood for ya .
Thanks Phil, the ash is great firewood for sure. Always better with the family.
Keep chipping away at it folks. Thanks for another enjoyable video!
You bet! There’s enough to keep us pretty busy. We’ll get a bit more before we stay out for deer season.
Nice family time. Way to kick some "ash"!
Thanks Greg!
Thanks Greg, love it when we all get out there together!
I love those ole tractors dependable unlike the newer ones
Definitely don’t build them like they used to.
⚡TCB⚡ RESPECT 👍🏻
Thank you!
Glad to see that no windows were harmed in the making of this video. 🤣🤣
Hahaha! Nope, not this time😂
Lol thanks Tim!
Your last short shows how close you guys are to the perfect setup for a two man operation all you need to do is add a small conveyor to move rounds to the table and use the axis to make perfect bundle wood. I like that little "round"🤔 processor. That combined with the axis makes for way less mess too. Good work
Bill we will have a full video test run of that set up going up this week.
Ash is Cash the STIHL SAW Your Currently Using is good, but the Ms 400 or 500i will cut a lot faster, have a Good day to both of you,
I definitely want to check out the newer saws one day!
That is a lot of big ash guys. That will keep you busy for while. Too bad about the rim. Rim Guard is a better choice these days.
Thank you! Rim guard is definitely better! Both rims are newer now!
I had a TO 35 Massy, dang gone good tractor many memories with using it! Thanks for the dang good video! 😉
You’re welcome, appreciate the feedback. I’m really liking this tractor.
Zack and Nathan working on their guns!! Rachel great job on the Massey and Health ate up those logs. Great family time!! Has Megan started a different bundle stand location?
Thanks Obie, it was a good day in the woods. I have modified some of my stands to add her bundles. She is away at school now so we’ll use up what she has stocked.
Very nice looking ash! Should make some great firewood👍🇺🇸💪👍
Thanks Jeremiah! I’ve been wanting to get this tree for a few years now!
Some nice looking wood. I got atv trailer with a gate that drops in the back. That’s my favorite for getting big firewood. Just roll them in. I have used a single ramp to roll rounds as well. Great work you two.
Dan, I could have used a ramp for a few of the larger ones that’s for sure.
Thats a fine load of ash for sure. Heath I bet you and Rachel were both draggin ash after cutting and loading it all. Nice work 👏 👌
Thanks Bob, some of those rounds were definitely heavier than I thought they’d be!
Great teamwork guys.
Thanks Michael!
Thanks Michael! Definitely more fun with the crew.
Joo again. I love spoonerisms and puns. Saying "I fell into a thorn of holes " is like saying "I killed two stones with one bird. I that quite a bit . Lol
I definitely didn’t like the thorns!! It was a trap.
Too bad you can't change the channel name, hard working folks! Love burning ash wood, high heat output in my opinion.
Thank you! We burn a lot of ash too. It’s great firewood.
That’s one nice looking, fun to use Massey Ferguson 35. Looks like my 1951 TEA20 Ferguson tractor.
Lots of wood there to cut up.
What was the banging. Could be a propane cannon that blasts to scare away birds in the fields. They use them here in the blueberry fields.
Have a great day team.
It is fun to use! We never really figured out who it was.
@@rachelpostma4505 👍🏻
Love that tractor. It can sit for a while, turn the key, bump the starter button and she’s running! Banging was some neighbors shooting guns across The field, not sure exactly who.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Dangerous.
Looks like the boys like carrying rounds better than shirts 😂. The Makita is impressive, stand up and buck worthy. Rachel, nice work with the tractor and lifting up the heavy ash rounds😂 Have a great weekend guy's. 5 more weeks till Bunyan, wooooo🤘
Lol thanks Jack, have to get them in shape for carrying shirts at Bunyan! The Makita definitely rips. It’s unfortunate they have dropped the gas line of saws.
Lol Jack😂 No complaints about the rounds at all! Thank you!! Counting down!
Good to see the boys out working hard! Whether it be logs, ladies, or steaks, thick is the trick! 👍 And the Tractor Bunny 🐰 can sure work that Massey and look good doing it!
You got that right!
Y'all are funny working together!! Heath, my only problem with the Pro Sizer is forgetting to charge it, so I don't use it very often. Nice ASH rounds!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks David! I really like the pro sizer but it definitely has a few weaknesses and keeping it charged is one of them. Still love having it though.
Thanks David!😊
Try a timber carrier. Save your back. Check with Brad. He has 2 of them.
Thanks Donald, looking into them now!
Im looking for a MF65. As much because I need that HP for pulling a digger around the homestead to dig the burdock under.
I occasionally see the 65 and wouldn’t mind grabbing one if the price was right because of how much I like this 35. They are cool old tractors.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors
My cousin has one and was explains there’s two kinds of motors in that tractor. A direct injection and an indirect injection. You really want the direct injection.
Hey guys, that Makita saw rips through that pretty good 👍, when you’re using your mic and your chainsaw it seems to work out ok , though the chainsaw would be to loud !
Thanks Len, I really like that saw. We are finally figuring our mic situation out!
Rachel drives the Massey like a pro. No low gear for her 😂
No doubt, full speed ahead!
We are not far from your up north property. We really enjoy going to Woody's.
You ended up with a nice jag of wood there. IMHO the 044 might be one of the best saws stihl ever built.
We are having a huge oak die off around here. Are you seeing that at your place?
Nice video.
Love the 044 so far. We aren’t seeing the oak die off on our property but I know some others are starting to see it.
Oak wilt!
Sorry about the calcium chloride damage to the rim. Never a good deal looking for a new rim! I am wondering if the magnetic induction heater coulda freed up the bolts? Y’all stay safe!
I wonder too, not sure how hard the guy tried. Wish I would have known because it was a perfect test piece! I just found your recent emails. For some reason they went to spam.
Lord only knows how the internet works! I guess I use too many pictures? My induction heater is my pride and joy. It will never replace my cutting torch, but it will eventually pay for itself. @@hardworkingmanoutdoors
Why do you saw trees for short logs just in the forest, it’s easier to load long clogs in the cart by a small winch and later to saw the clogs for short logs in the backyard?
We do it several different ways. This way we get them home to the splitter and they’re ready to go.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors This is good, but in the forest you always bend over and strain your back over each short log. This may affect your health in the future. it's not logical. You need to take care of yourself.
You were cutting 16" rds right? What size are your rds cut at now? eill they be the same for all your wood?
w
Fred, I just knocked them down to about 15” but plan on adding 12” and possibly 6” or 8” for the newer stoves. Still experimenting with some new smokeless pits.
Do you still have the samurai 700? I saw some of your older videos when I was searching for buzz saw videos. Looks like most things you cut now are too large for it.
Chris, yes I do! It will be part of my firewood processing center. I am actually about to do a test run of my set up. I have a lot of wood perfect for it. The equipment issues have limited it’s use but we’re getting rolling again!
Chanel should HWM&W...😮
She definitely is that!
What trailer are you using?
It is a DR log trailer, it really comes in handy! I love it.
What happened to the boys? I thought they were going to help.
They did for a little bit but we got a late start and they had to leave for tennis practice.
Nice video. Why should no one be shooting?🤔
It just sounded like they were in our woods. We’ve had problems with trespassers in the past so that’s why we were concerned.
Thanks Brian, the shooting was all good, they were across the field but at first it sounded like they were in the south end of my woods.
I bet that Maple was dried out .
Yes it was, a bit too much! It would burn hot and fast!!
How many acres do you have?
One place is 40 and 6.5 where we live.
🪵👍
Thanks Will.
I have a 4 min video out Carl Lewis the man with the plan on youtube
I’ll check it out.
Be more careful don't want to be laid up like I was
Thanks Carl, I definitely need to utilize a better strategy for the bigger rounds!
