I have a few to climb myself but I’m no climber, when I do it I use my hunting gear. I’ve been hunting out of tree saddles for over 20 years. Not sure if I’ll put it on the channel or not when I do it.

Just think heath, thats how everyone had to split their wood back before hvac, propane, gas or oil was invented. Definitely a good workout and hard way of survival. I was gonna say 2 hits , but you got it in 1 swing 💪 its all that working out you 2 have been doing. Omg you totally soaked her too😂😂 great video!!
Great video, I did a similar hand split vs big box store splitter challenge with a friend of mine. In the interest of home heating production, not for sale like you two. The splitter not being a fast cycling splitter like you have, I nearly doubled the production splitting by hand in a half hour. Learning that, I split every day, for 20-30min and have my weekend free. Btw, using a tire to split with means you don’t stop swinging to pick up pieces to resplit.
You looked good in the wet t shirt but Rachel has you beat. I just quit hand splitting this year for a medical reason but at 55 I split 1/3 of a cord of red oak in 12 minutes which beats a box store store splitter bad. I usually cut about 2 cord at a time and split after every tank of gas so it breaks up the splitting, and it usually is about 3 hours cut and split and that was when I split by hand. Not going to keep up with a good splitter all day but I never have to.

Cottonwood is the absolute worst to split by hand or machine! You could have loaded the deck by splitting straight grain wood,ie: oak ,hickory!
I hate cottonwood!!! But it dries fast and burns nicely mixed in with campfires.
You should start a John Henry splitting challenge..
