    2014 F-250 77,000 miles. Thought it was my upper oil pan. Nope. These bolts were backed out. I tightened them up and oil squirted from the gasket. Good indication that this was the problem. Sprayed some Griot’s engine degreaser on the pump oil leak, got under the truck, and the degreaser followed the path of the oil drips (which was a lot). Hit it with a little water and will monitor for additional leaks. I couldn’t get to the third bolt with any tools, but it was already tight when I got my hand on it. Will need to wait until spring and I’ll pull all four, thread lock, and reinstall. Thanks for (hopefully) saving me lots of $$$.

    Well my 2015 truck wasn't leaking as far as I know but I checked this any way and the left one was finger tight at best, the top one needed to be a third turn, and the one on the right barely needed tightened. Glad I caught this. Thanks for the video. Ford should have this fixed on their dime.

    You don't have to remove all that stuff to get to the fourth bolt. Just remove the belt and the pulley to get to all four bolts.

  • @freedreamertransportllc8466

    Adam, thanks for the video and the bolts were all loose. I torqued them all down and the oil leak stopped, imagine that . . .

    I just did this today and all you have to do is take off the air box, belt and the fan bracket. No need to take off the shroud or reservoirs. Add a little orange thread seal because they will vibrate loose if you don’t. Hardest part is installing new belt. Might as well since you’re that deep in to it.

    Remove the idler pulley bracket and remove each bolt one at a time and put some blue loc-tite on them. Torque to proper specs.

  • @bigsky33
    @bigsky33 Před 3 lety +3

    Loosen belt. Disconnect fan cable.
    Remove fan bracket bolts. Set fan into shroud.
    Replace pump gasket and use locktite.
    Only take hr or so longer than this

    Good info, and my top and passenger side bolt was loose enough I touched them and knew they needed to be tightened, but he driver side was fine. I was however able to take my time tighten the bottom bolt with a little modification to my 5/16”.

  • @freedreamertransportllc8466

    Hot Shotting and I just pulled into a Pilot Truck Stop and noticed oil coming from the vacuum pump seal area on my 2016; I'll take a closer look at it in the morning with some daylight and a cooler engine. THANKS! I hope this is the case and I'll followup, more to follow.

    There’s room for the fan to slide towards the radiator you don’t have to take the radiator shroud off you also need to blue Loctite the bolts not just tighten them

      Well, tightening the three bolts confirmed that my leak was from the vacuum pump. It now leaks like a sieve. Time to pull the pump and replace the gasket.

    2011 with 110k miles. Lots of oil underneath from under front of motor to the rear where oil plug is. Found two vacuum pump bolts less than finger tight and third just snug. I’ll have to do some degreasing and washing under there and see if it comes back.
    100k must be the time as my dpf nozzle stopped squirting and transmission cooler lines rotted and leaked two weeks ago and just found power steering steel lines rotted and leaking this week.🥺
