In the last two months both my Dad and Mum have died. Mum this morning and in her memory this evening, having cared for her in the last part of her Dementia life, I have had a wee dram, listening to Jake Thackery and watched Billy Connolly videos. Thank you Billy for the relief from the emptiness.

Billy connolly is a massive inspiration in my life, I can't imagine life without his observational comedy, this world would be a dreary wee place withoot him ⚡🤟⚡

I have loved watching him since I was a kid I used to steal my dad's DVDs to watch him and when I was 27 I got to see him live in Dublin and he pointed at me and shook my hand, I cried it made my night! It had become a ritual for me after being out drinking to come home with my take away and stick Billy on, I once fell through a wall when I was drunk watching him I couldn't stop laughing, this man is a one of a kind ❤❤
Billy has nearly suffocated me at times. He has me laughing so uncontrollably that I can't draw breath. I'm practically turning blue from lack of oxygen.🤣😂😜🤣♥️

I live in Glasgow and this is an accurate picture! I love it and it gives me chills at the same time.
And the funny thing is, I could never see someone from "auld reekie" telling a story with such warmth, compassion and humour, the way the big yin does. But I see it as a natural ability in many Glaswegians. Just my observation ...
I used to go and see Billy in the clubs & pubs when he was much younger, and purely a folk singer who told the odd joke, until he became a comedian who sang occasionally. He is one of a kind. ❤
The big yin fae glesga is the funnies man on earth 🌍, there is no doubt, he sets the standard that everyone else dreams ov achieving.. A lot of Glaswegian are like this..

For me Billy is the greatest. Made me pee my pants more times than I care to admit. Laughed so hard my ribs felt broken. So miss the wee folk clubs of the 70s. Danny Kyle was a great comedian.

I don't like stand up comedians, but I have loved the Big Yin all my life... The greatest storyteller ever. Always interesting hilarious stories and observations, with no side or nastiness to them.

He got quite animated and nasty as he got older. To the point where at times he seemed to be using the stage as a place to dump his personal hates and they were not amusing at all.

That Spider-Man story has a an amazing coincidence. I used to work with a guy who had a problem with his spine (can’t for the life of me remember what) but he always had to use his hands on the wall to get up and we called him Spider-Man

Hello from New Zealand. I remember years ago watching Billy tell the story about his mum. She had busted the windscreen of her car so Billy or his father fixed it. Because she had bad eye sight he put a windscreen that was magnified in her car. When she was driving up the road towards home all Billy could see was his mum behind the wheel of the car and she was magnified. He said she looked like Mr Magoo. Anyone no what that story was called, love to see it again. funny as hell.

I think it was called One Night Stand Down Under or something, from maybe 1997 or 1998 (or thereabouts). I still have the old VHS somewhere.😄✌️

This reminds me when i was young and the mad stuff we used to do.
Surfing down the street on the roof of a car with music blasting out of it, you'd get shot by the PC police these days.
My mate's father was a panel beater, one night were heading out the club in the next town over from where we lived, 12 or 15 miles away.
it was wet so my mate sneaks up to the garage and swipes the only car that was not getting fixed, a hearse.
Did you know you can fit seven teenagers into a hearse?
Anyway, we land over all set for a night out and five teenagers exited the back of the hearse and hit the club. 😁
Two of the seven are gone now including my mate but at the time we were indestructible and out for the craic :)
Ireland in the 80's could be a bit mad so I can relate to this story.

@@slowmo9642 Oh yeah, no evidence :) I drove by my old school the other day and they were installing artificial grass to go with the nice soft artificial tarmac. The world is gone mad, we had real grass, real tarmac and real cuts, bruises and scars to show for it. :) I'd say a lot of people have scars on their knees if they went looking :)

He's become quite the artist since beginning knocked down by Parkinsons. Hell, he's making so much off his drawings and paintings he could have retired from standup years ago if had the idea to do so. There's no way Billy would have retired from his love of a good joke and an even better story, there's just no end of the laugh he loves to give people. Oh, by the way, those pictures; yah, there's so much demand for them that ya couldn't afford to buy the pencil shavings😅.
