Absolutely . He'd go onstage with a rough idea of what he would say ,but it inevitably ended up an inspired hilarious stream of consciousness, then he'd get back on the original thread of what he'd started to talk about. It was amazing how he'd take the audience on that journey making them weak with laughter in the process, absolute comic genius .

Billy is more than a comedian. He's a storyteller and a mindset that can see joy and humour in the littlest things.

i did the eaxct same thing 20 odd years ago when i first went Ireland. i had visions of potatoes standing under gaslights in Dickensian london.
I could listen to this man forever...literally...forever. I would pay good money just to hear him tell me to F off at least once a day, lol.

Remembering what he said is difficult because he doesn't tell jokes, just reflections on what he sees around him each day. I wonder sometimes if he actually said what he says he did, or whether it's what he (and the rest of us) would love to have said.
I was the same when I saw him years ago. Can't just about remember one part of one story but that's it. And I was sore laughing by the end of it!

The latest in restaurants is "We only take cards" and a big glass jar on the counter full of cash marked TIPS right under your nose so you can't miss it. So now I who only ever paid in cash have to carry a credit card but also a little pack of Thank you cards which I sign and drop into their feckin jar.

my late husband's Dad was from Aberdeen and I think the world of David Tennant whose own Dad .... careful here the Moderator of the Church of Scotland thought Billy Connolly ... well King of Scotland either he or Sean Connery take your pick why not so Dr. Who etc. backstage passes and he comes home and he's enacting this excruitatingly funny totally improve stuff that in the course of history only he and Robin Williams ever truly managed and gasp! from dutiful son David Tennant the expletives just came raining down ... love those guys do my heart the world of good. Obama is president again and it's stopped raining .. or take yr pick. Algebra ... it's endless. Such a good man.

I am in need of help please. I'm trying to figure out if Billy is the comic I'm looking for based on a story I heard on the radio one night while driving. He had a strong Scottish accent (This is why I feel it may be Billy) but I'm not 100% sure. He was telling a story that had the audience screaming from laughter. All I remember about the story was that it ended with these words, "A big boy did it and ran away".
