In our latest Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video we explain the Reachmen, the complicated people of the Reach.
Dragonbreaks: • The MOST Confusing Con...
Godhead, CHIM & Amaranth: • There is Only ONE God ...
Complete Guide to Gods: • The COMPLETE Guide to ...
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

The forsworn were a missed opportunity, there was so much gameplay and quest potential with them but there wasn't anything done with them and they're just a bunch of funny looking bandits
There's the revolution in Markarth. But yeah, outside of that city there really isn't much unfortunately. They're treated more like a reskin for bandits and as such that's what most people think of them.
I find it very dissapointing that after you help Madanach escape only one Forsworn camp turns friendly to you, and you still get attacked when wandering around the Reach. This was probably because a lot of quests around the Reach involve fighting Forsworn, but it would’ve been cool if you could engage in diplomacy with them if you sided with Madanach and complete those quests without having to fight any of them.
The RA Man I would have loved to be able to join them and fight for the reachmens, eventually graduate in their society and becoming a briarheart
None of the factions besides the Thalmor(who's role is limited on purpose) and Miraak ever really flesh out thought, and the fact the Dragonborn is there only sets the stage for their demise, as you take down Forsworn strongholds left and right take out their boy Madanach outta the city, their presence in game though is massive, without the Dragonborn they would have just kept growing more and more, while the Stormcloaks and Imperials would have gotten weaker and weaker, with Madanach on the inside they would have definitely taken over the Reach, they would have had all sorts of Deadra and Hagraven and the Red Eagle on their side they would have probably went on to correct their mistake and got rid of the Nords for good, the Forsworn are stronger then the Stormcloaks, and the Stormcloaks are stronger than the Imperials. The Forsworn would have been more, but you the player stop them.
I totally get the feeling but creating the main quest was enough work for them, especially the never-ending side quests, the immense world. The time they must've spent creating this game...yet whoever dives deeper into the bowels of any lore craves for depth on the surface. The depths of a lore is treasure; it is where we truly find the passion for an intellectual product; it is where we have the most fun. Game developers shouldn't aim THAT deep in practical terms but surely in theoretical terms...they can only go too far. I think in order for us to go deeper into lore, aesthetic and scripted content we need more trusted/qualified modders. The games could cost a little less (or not. I value their work) and we could endorse modders. But who am I to say anything-I've never endorsed modders. But then again I don't have the financial freedom to do so :(
Damn I wrote too much.
I still wish the Forsworn were a joinable factions in _Skyrim_ (joined during the Cidna Mine quest), where you could fight for the independence of the Reach and put Madanach back on the throne in Markarth.
sounds dope id love to see that happen
Someone probably made a mod of that
@@digitoki6886 someone definitely made a mod for that
Totally agree.... Personally I think they're pretty cool. (Had to rephrase that last word...sad it was deemed offensive😂)
@@KellyGuy08What word was it?
the Reachmen show us that nature is not all flowers and sunshine, instead, those pretty flowers will very likely rip your heart out and put their fruit in its place.
I could listen to Elder Scrolls lore all day. Replaying the games after absorbing all this information, makes it as special as the first time I ever played Skyrim.
Tanner Kerbo do you know *Lady of Scrolls* .
She is kinda new but her lore videos are amazing!
Check her out ;)
The Bad thing is the more you know the weirder it feels to do unlorefrienly things
Anonym 7102 exactly. I’m having the same trouble, even choosing mods has become an issue.
@@ysmirwulfharth4012 No I hadn't heard of her. But i added a few of her videos to my watch later because of the recommendation. Thanks!
Tanner Kerbo you‘re welcome 👍🏻😄
thee reach.
known for large silver diposites.
has biggest gold mine in the province.
Windhelm Guard where??????????
@@andrewpandrew7786
walk out of markarth and follow the road north, there is a hut near a bridge and a lot of forsworn in the cliff behind the hut is a mine and in that mine are more foresworn and the biggest gold deposit in the game.
@@windhelmguard5295 Yeah, it's Kolskeggr, isn't it? There's a misc. quest you can get where the miners that the Foresworn chased out pay you to go return the favor.
Two sentences that epitomizes Markarth;
_“Blood and Silver, Friend. Blood and Silver”_ - *Yngvar the Singer*
I’m pretty sure Cidhna Mine makes more silver than Kolskegger produces gold. And if not, the Silver-Bloods would make sure Kolskegger wouldn’t be as profitable as their silver is.
What would you know? Staying up in your cold keep.
Hagraven: *offers power for a price*
Red Eagle: I REJECT MY HUMANITY, REACHMEN!
The Foresworn are such an interesting part of the lore. I love seeing groups like this. Reminds me of the Ashlanders. More of this please, Bethesda.
They could've been so much more according to the lore. They weren't supposed to be reskinned bandits.
@@vizari9570 that's the story with most of Skyrim honestly. So much wasted potential.
@@vizari9570 Typical Bethesda. They do the exact same thing in Fallout.
Ashlanders but with extra terrorism.

I had noticed the other day there is no ogres in Skyrim, even though in Oblivion ogres lived just on the border. Ended up adding a mod that added rare daudra ogres to cover it.
Trent Vickers ik there’s a mod for it, although I hate the fact that it uses the animations for the trolls
Rainz 2 Much ツ yeah I saw that mod, those look nothing like Oblivion ogres, so got the ESO Daudra Ogres. (Such beast would explain why there is no Ogres or Goblins)
do said ogres live in the area around Morthal? ;))
Trent Vickers I lowkey thought u we’re talking about orcs there 😂
I realized that too. No goblins or imps either
I would have loved to join the forsworn... Retaking the reach for them, uniting all the scattered tribes and sitting Madanach on the throne. If he's a minor figure under the influence of the matriarch, it can be fixed, I believe, by giving her the position of high priestess, effectively ruling through him, in what I assume would be called a theocracy. You, the protagonist would be destined to follow the steps of Faolan, and become an undead Briarheart, in order to withstand foreign invasion, perhaps this time by the thalmor.
they're evil
Skyrim is home to the amazing tourist attractions: crazy bretons running around wearing animal skins and twisted bird ladies who strangely always look the same plus a couple of witches here and there
all topped by a rebel leader known for crushing rebellion of said guys with extreme prejudice and feeling proud about it;)
Lets not forget the 15 daedra cults, , a war on humans by vampire royalty, werewolves, etc
@@TheArklyte
Err the bear of markath book isn't true.
Hell even the forsworn don't even mention it happening like that
And apparently said old bird ladies are DTF, as seen in the Sanguine quest.
And a crazy naked man with greybeard power
I find it odd that the Forsworn can't take back the Reach. In the game, they seem to vastly outnumber the Nord population in the Reach and control all the territory except Markarth, a handful of mining settlements, and an inn. I think that if Madanach organized the Forsworn he could easily take the Reach while everyone else is busy with the civil war.
Beautiful opening shot
I just wanted to thank you. I’m leaving for the marines tomorrow morning. And I can honestly tell you that your videos and the videos of others helped me get through a dark time in my life and pushed me to become what I am today. You helped me realize that you can get through everything with a bit of laughter no matter how stupid the joke is. Thank you for everything and I can’t wait to come back from basic and catch up on all the vids!!!
I don't know why but there's something refreshing about hearing a tale were normally demonized figures like cruel witches are seen as divine and/or heroic through the lenses of someone else, making the blackest of sides show some grey, evil not as evil as you think...
*"The Reach belongs to the Forsworn!"*
Hell yes!
Skyrim belongs to the nords
Snow Elves were there before any of these mufuckaz, fuck outta here Aldmeri Domination fo life
Food Time hail hircine
Amen to that! Reachmen for life!👊
The Reachmen *are* genetically different from the Bretons of High Rock, being closer to their Elven roots in addition to some interbreeding with the local Orsimer.
Wait what
Source
For you see Dragonborn, *You aren't dealing with an average Breton!*
You sure it’s elven I thought they were closer to Nedes
I'm thinking of making a Reachman style build, that wears the Saviour's hide since the Reachmen worship Hircine it makes sense, uses a pair of Nordic swords, wears the Forsworn gauntlets, boots and helmet then maybe a Nordic bow as well as sneak to be a bit of a guerrilla fighter using a mix of stealth and open fighting
Use red eagles sword
Me: (Sees forsworn) "Maybe I could snea-" (Detected)
Me: (Sees Briarheart) "Ok I am level 40, he shouldn't be too ba-" (Gets hit for 2/3 hp in 2 hits)
Sneak 100 does not work with these
I was up all night waiting for your next amazing vid
I love the elder scrolls lore videos😃😃😃
"The Reach will be ours again!!!"
Enjoying these lore vids, looking forward to the next one.
Dagon isn't just destruction, he's change, Namira is all shunned practices, practices that would disgust those of popular society, Hircine is not just hunting, but of proving one's worth, malacath is the embodiment of accepting those who are downtrodden, the people who's change makes them outcasts. The closest thing I can think of to compare this to is the gods of chaos from 40k, as each God has a positive and negative aspect to them. Khorne being strength tzeentch being strategy nurgle being stagnation, and slaanesh being pleasure. The daedra aren't evil like most players think, they have 2 sides, given they are children of padome, who is change and duality personified
the sprititual and pagan elements of the forsworn are spot on with the pre-Catholic gaelic regions. it would've been great if their overall aesthetic followed en suite
I think that was their point. Just like how the Bretons are analogs for The Britons of England the forsworn are a separate cutlures of Bretons just like the celts we Gaels were separate from the Britons.
Red Eagle sword was kind of underwhelming.
Try the "unique uniques" mod
@@SoI_Badguy I was thinking more the enchantment, but that mod looks really nice.
I love the story of the Red Eagle. I’ve heard it 20 times and listen again every time it’s presented.
Always been disappointed that siding with Madanach does not opens a new questline, similar to how With Friends Like This gets you in the Dark Brotherood. If you think about it, Madanach IS right and when he ruled the Reach it was a pacific enough rule. The Empire could going to recognize them as a province and validate Madanach if Ulfric did not fucked up big time. The Silver-Bloods oppression of the natives is what created the modern-days Forsworn, scattering the reachmens around.
Jacopo Mazzo have you not seen what the forsworn were like? They worshipped Namira, Molag Bal, and Mehrunes Dagon.
Thunder Bird daedric worship doesn’t make you evil unless you worship namira it seems. And not even most of them appear to do that.
Avrysatos Namira could still work -disgusting for us of course but- if you do like the bosmers do and eat your fallen warriors. Without forgetting that cannibalism and Namira worship aren't the same. Bosmers are cannibals without worshipping Namira and some Namira worshippers aren't cannibals, like the ones in Oblivion. Depends on how you worship her. But anyway cannibalism doesn't mean you have to murder personally
The thing is the reachmen aren't natives. They invaded the reach during the Skyrim wars of succession and killed or drive out most of the local nords. This was around 1E 400. Which is atleast 500 years after the area had been settled by the nords as seen by the dragon cult ruins in the area.
@@thunderbird7020 a vast majority of them worship hircine the most honorable, primal, and neutral of the daedric princes
I will say this, fighting the reachmen is so easy when their moves are super predictable. They make for easy prey.
Still more organized than the stormcloaks feels bad smh
@@Doralga no reachmen come straight at you stormcloak use cover and tactic and are not tools or heretics
@@CommanderM117 cover and tactics bro we're talking sword fights what cover and what is this mythical tactical you speak of, when you charge at the imperial soldiers for the jagged crown, no formations or hitting enemies at a weak point nah just a pep talk.
Of course the Reachmen just attack you they have the backing of powerful super soldiers in the form of briarhearts and wizards in the form of Hagravens meanwhile the stormcloaks have bear armor.
@@Doralga mountains and walls as cover moron and tactic like sealing mountain passes or rows or archer from above on that mission for jagged crown they were also not expecting imperial there
also stormcloak have more then just bear armor they have mages siege weapons and likely after civil war alliance with dunmer warriors wizards and redguard mercenary/ hired pirates
@@Doralga
funnily enough galmar tells you to sneak attack the imperials guarding the inside of the tomb after the defenders outside have been swiftly overrun.
also storm cloak soldiers generally have way better combat AI, they still shoot into melee like morons but at the very least storm cloaks know that the game has a block function, whereas the forsworn fight like how arin hanson plays zelda, they come at you swinging while hoping that you run out of health first and lets not even talk about how foresworn fight against their nord enemies... with melee attacks and frost magic.
I was waiting for it. great work !

New subscriber here and I want to say one thing - this is absolutely, without a doubt the best TES channel on youtube!

Amazing volume of content, and y’all just keep it coming. You guys deserve twice the subscriptions
That thumbnail was way more epic than it had to be. Great job as usual
Excellent lore explanation! Also i really appreciate the cinematography, if i may call it so. This generally applies to your channel. You make me fall in love with TES over and over again.
What a coincidence, I was reading about the Forsworn yesterday, and today a FudgeMuppet video is uploaded! Amazing!

I love that there is such an awesome nod to Brittain with all of breton lore. On one hand you have the knightly almost Arthurian HighRock, and on the other the reach, basically The Picts.
Fudgemuppet found your channel a few monthes ago and ever since have been binge watching. I watch every upload you do everyday. You should do a video about if every Race went to war which you think would come out ontop.
I love their armor, and these guys gave me so much trouble when I first played Skyrim
I kind of relate them to the Gunners or the Children of Atom from the Fallout Universe. An NPC faction that fucks with you even if you help them. And I have plenty of character ideas that would suit the gunners to a tee

If there was one thing I wish Bethesda did differently in the series, it would be making the reachmen a separate race from the Bretons. They have such deep and fascinating lore and would have been easily implemented as a hybrid of the Bretons and Nords.

Please remake your female forsworn build! Would love to see what changes you'd make after all this time! ( maybe conjuration to mimic the hagravens' briarheart ritual? Or alchemy to make potions since buying them would be hard for reachmen since they aren't welcome in cities?)
It's wierd how they claim to be native, yet they didn't even move in until after the direnni had slaughtered and drove out most of the locals living in the area while Skyrim was weak during the wars of succession.
Said nords had been living their since the merethic era so atleast for 500 years likley more.
The idea that Reachmen are just a mix of Bretons and Nords has pretty much been retconned or written off as Imperial propaganda aimed at alienating them in their own homeland. Most of the recent lore about them almost outright gives it away that they're descended from some of the earliest Nedic tribes to have come to Tamriel from Atmora. So, they were there before any Proto-Nord stepped foot in Skyrim
The reach is one of the most gorgeous zones in ESO. I came here to learn a bit more cause I'm considering making a reachmen necro or warden.
" my name is Scott, from FudgeMuppet" is like my favorite thing to hear on CZcams these days, I learn so much from you my dude.
4am my time but I cant miss a vid from FudgeMuppet
I think imma play a Reachman Guerilla build, using one-handed, light armor, archery, sneak, and MAAAYBEEE destruction. Forsworn Conspiracy is priority. Do the DB to kill the Emperor, don't do the civil war since both are the enemy. Join companions, do the main quest and Dragonborn DLC, possible join the Thieves' guild and Dawnguard (if you can find a justification for it), and if you choose to be a more shaman build and use destruction then you might join CoW. Armor of the old gods with Savior's hide instead of the chest piece.
Vampires=molag cosplaying hircine lackies
Thanks for this video. I like Reachmen and consider them to be one of the coolest factions in TES.
You should remaster your Forsworn build for Skyrim SE.

I've gained better understanding with this video than the actual game, thanks bro
Briar hearts seem to be a natural phenomenon like nirn roots.
I’ve always been a big Stormcloak but even I have to admit the badassery of the Forsworn.
The cause of the Forsworn is far more legitimate than the one of the Stormcloaks.
I would love for you guys to do a Reachmen Skyrim build. Non modded please. I might attempt one without you, but you guys are really good at builds. So I'd love for you to think one up. Thanks and keep up the good work.
They did do a non-modded Forsworn build. It's one of their older build videos, but a solid one.
The Knights of the Crypt would be a cool faction to either join or learn more about. For Skyrim SE, the CC added Spell Knight Armor with a short story involving a Breton Order of Knights known as the Knights of the Crypt. Basically, from what I understand so far, they are keepers of the hearts of man and mer. Their involvement in Skyrim is that they are hunting a coven of witches as well as their foresworn conspirators who are involved with the corruption and desecration of hearts.
dude, it's perfect this video. i liked it a lot.
i just love these people and other savage a.holes across the tamriel!
The more savage ,The less likely to be enslaved...
Hey if anyone is watching this theres an awesome mod that allows you to play as a forsworn and also join their fraction. Its only for special edition but look into it, its awesome.

So wait, brier hearts are fruits? does this mean some one could grow brier hearts?
Atmoran Nords: *Pillage the village and take over Skyrim*
Reachmen: Excuse me?!

God your game looks beautiful
Fun Fact: If you side with Madanach and visit a friendly Druadach Redoubt, you can transform into a werewolf in the middle of their cave, NO ONE will care. However don’t bet on them recognizing you if you come charging in already in beast form
Just got off an 11 hour flight, only to find this waiting for me
Have you done a video on Emperor Varen Aqualarius(however you spell his name)?
The Forsworn took Logrolf because he was defiling the alter of one of their gods
Great video as always! Maybe a future video on the black drake or the longhouse emperors? Many more videos on Bretons please, they are my absolute favorite characters!
Crackpot theory:
What if the Bretons racial blending is a result of magic or divine intervention? That could explain why there are no more half breeds?
Bretons were formed over hundreds of years of the dirreni raping their slaves
The inscription on Red Eagle’s sword is, “Eagle’s Bane” written in futhark runes 7:35
Skyrim really needed more care in the reach the population of “civilians/soldiers” are outnumbered 1000-1 by the foresworn. The fact that the Reach was ruled by 6 KINGDOMS at one point is insane. I wish Bethesda took more care with this area of the map it’s the most interesting and aesthetic of all regions.
Video idea: is being a lich worth it?
... I guess he liked it lol
Michael, Scott, Drew, how do I reach you guys for a character build idea?
Can someone please tell me what mods these guys are using in their lore videos please?
I've woken up at like 5 am everyday and sat on my couch watching Fudgemuppet. Waiting for the new Fudgemuppet video which will surely appear if I keep praying every morning to the God of knowledge Julianos. Praise be to the Nine and the true Tribunal Dreealsct. (You try coming up with a name that involves Drew, Scott, and Micheal and I'll change it)
It’s kind of disturbing how the forsworn are treated in Skyrim. They are made basically a spicy variant of bandits when in reality they are fighting for the freedom of their homeland. Some may say “but they are Daedra worshippers” yeah and? So are the dark elves and Kajiit. They are a colonized people enslaved by outside powers.
Yeah but to be fair the daedra are pure evil and their foresworn worshippers gladly murder and assassinate any person not a part of them.
I’d really like to seek them fleshed out more I think they are super interesting and making them their own playable race would be cool. I don’t like how brutal they look in Skyrim though. I think if they went for a more in tune with nature Druid Pictish look it would be better.
Faolan means "little wolf" if I'm not incorrect.
The reach is a fantastic place were anarchy rules and 3 armies fight between themselves which are the Legion, Stormcloacks, and Reachmen. 😍
