Hi, just found your YT couple of days ago and been binge watching from the beginning, I'm thoroughly impressed with your work and progress considering there's only the two of you, but that said you both work extremely well together, an impressive team overall, Impressed with Katie jumping right in with any task, there's no gender oriented task organising, just simple there's a task to do and just doing it, very impressive, there's nothing to slow or hold you two back with anything you plan for if you do it together, the sky and beyond as no limits for you two.

The first boards you put up formed the ledger. Then you put up the rafters, i.e. boards that support the roof. Joints are boards parallel to the ground on which you can build a floor or hang a ceiling.
Greg you need to put something on your saw dust discharge to collect it for the chicken cop for bedding
They usually do this. Maybe they have too much already
Or maybe the hoes broke
Oh wait you're talking about on the saw mill. They have it on the sander,or planer, sawmill dust they pick up with the tractor bucket

Katie,,, I really appreciate the use of professionally correct terminology. They are joists. There can be floor joists or roof joists. A joist is different than a truss as trusses are a construction of more than one piece of wood. I am sure that many people watch your type of video to learn skills. It makes your experience and input so much more valuable. Good for you to make the effort.❤❤❤❤
I REALLY HATE TO CORRECT YOU BUT THEY ARE CALLED RAFTERS. JOISTS ARE HORIZONTIAL MEMBERS.
Sorry, but the boards with the birds mouth cut into them are rafters. Joists support a floor...
It's a joist if it holds a floor, if it holds a roof, it's a rafter.

Suggestion: put up small ledger blocks to rest that heavy wood on .😊
Maybe when you are leaving the camera set up in one place for an extended period try using a auger type anchor for small dogs under the tripod and put a bungee cord on it to keep it from being tipped over. Worth a try.

Rafters. Joists are floor or ceiling supports. Rafters are roof supports. Trusses are an all in one joist and rafter combination installed as one unit. 😊

I loved your lizard. Here in Central California the lizard would have been orange/tan in color with stripes and about the same size. It's name is Aligator Lizard! And they are fiesty!!!
Awesome to live in an area where you can go from summer like heat to winter like conditions within a few minutes
Greg even though you need to block it all in the middle you also have to block the outside ends to stop cold drafts and birds etc. making a nest in those areas..
