Hi Katie and Greg. Katie you did your usual fantastic job of editing and assambling a great video for us. I always enjoy seeing the goats and what they are up to and I loved seeing Juniper and Aspen rolling on their backs and showing their great teeth while playing 😃 The grass is really coming in nicely where you seeded a few weeks back, starting to look very nice. It is an absolute delight watching you two working together as you were in this video. Katie, you have grown and progressed so very much over time and now your skills are very impressive! You now anticipate and know what to do without needing much guidance at all; you are very impressive Katie!! You should be very proud of yourself and I'm sure Greg is as well. He continues to be more relaxed and enjoying himself and his full time homesteader role since being able to step away from his roofing job. I am so happy for you both as you are building and living your dream. Have a great week. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
You couldn't have said it better Larry! They have both grown their skills so much and the videos are a pleasure to watch.
lots of moss on the old roof. Probability a great snack for the goats
Just love your intros. Your home is such a reflection of your love and hard work.
I like the goats hopping down the slope.
a good platform for rainwater harvesting
👋 The barn framing is looking great! I think with the metal up, it should last a very long time. 😂 It's great to have the pups out there with ya'll, you can protect them from danger..😅 Love ya'll ❤️
You guys deserve a nice shop. Hard working people ❤❤❤❤.
Hi Katie and Greg your barn is looking fantastic your hard work is paying off , Lovinging the Dormer entrance ,that looks so cool will look even better with the metal,, I always love watching the puppers play Juniper and Aspen are such good buddies , eh. Your goat's always entertaining and getting in the way lol. Your own off grid oasis in the woods .
I would strongly suggest installing
some rafter hangers on your rafters, or put a ledger board under your rafters attached to the old shed
Have a wonderful day 😊
Hello Kati and Grey I watching for the last few months. I enjoy the show.
The barn addition is looking great!
Been with you from the beginning, you two only get better together! You’re on my top 5 favorite UTube channels .Thanks for sharing your life together, It takes a lot of work and dedication to be successful, and you still continue to climb the ladder. My sincere thanks for your hard work. John
Good job Graigg on the dormer 🎉🎉🎉🎉
YOU TOO ARE THE BEST. I am however, looking forward to the siding going on the house.
I grew up on a farm/ranch and then after college, I became an engineer. My biggest regret is not using PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment) and now at 72 years old, I have a lot of issues for being a hard-headed person. Loss of hearing, back and joint pain, lots of eye issues for not wearing safety glasses, and injuries to my hands and feet for also not wearing the right shoes and gloves. Please take every precaution that you can. Your friend in Kansas, USA.
I'm really impressed with your work! Looking good, you guys!
You two are freaking amazing seriously...
yes I know Greg you have needed a workshop for a while now and am so happy you guys are building the shop and new goat house and old goat house just have for just the chickens so nice job guys
Plus your house turned out beautiful. So much better than your bus
When you build a gable end roof, you need to put a Valley in the rafters coming down hit the valley
I’m so glad to see your big dog stay and sleep inside , they are playing and so gentle , too cute , great progress turn out today ,
Very structural roof there, Greg!! Very handsome addition to your barn!!
When you are trying to determine an angle cut, rest the workpiece across the members and take your 90° Square against the inside of where you want it to go. You can then score the line according to its location. Account for the blade width also ...
Looks great. I love the fact the that it’s all done with wood you milled…so satisfying.
Way to rock the sawmill Katie! Goals for me (jen)
I'll warn ya when we have a cooking segment in our videos so you can skip them 😂😂😂 . Barn is looking great!!!
Hi Katie and Greg, Carpenter Katie you rock Girl.
Great job guys, I really enjoy watching the building of your Homestead, As I said about your footers you will want to use a bonding agent to bond the new concrete to the cured concrete if water gets between the 2 it will freeze and crack
You guys really are an amazing team! Keep it going. You are making memories and building dreams.......
Katie and Greg nice good on framing on the barn yall be safe
Great video. Greg, you can do just about anything.
Hi Katie watching and enjoying your video, just a little hint, when sawing lumber a good idea to wear safety glasses and something other than flip flops on your feet. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Cheers
Looking good, the middle section gives it a great look😊🇬🇧
I'm following this journey of yours from my home in the mid north of South Australia, Australia. I love the way things come about. Keep up your fantastic efforts
Hello from a fellow Canadian living in Houston, Texas currently. Great work!
As always, really great work on the roof , really great narrative and as always good to see you enjoying your life as a homesteader . My brother lives on TEXADA and being retired he is now a gentleman farmer. NO ANIMAL Just fruit trees corn ( IF HE GETS THE DEER FENCE FIXED) and vegies. Life in your neck of the woods is self satisfyingly enjoyable . PLESE KEEP IT UP AND ENLIGHTING US in the east WITH THE WONDERS OF YOUR ACTIVITY.
Everything is looking great turning out very well I can't wait to see the finish 👍😊
Hi Katie and Greg. What an awesome job you’re doing on the new barn. Best wishes as always from North Yorkshire, England.
Hi from The Canary Isles, just love your videos, you are both so talented and hard working, and you both look so happy. Can,t wait for the next video. Sending love to you both Keith.
You two are doing a fantastic job at building!! Bravo, awesome 👍!!
Real nice job guys! Definitely Greg need a wood shop inside the Barn
Hi down in the comments! 😂 The barn looks amazing, and Aspen and Juniper playing together is adorable! Aspen is HUGE now!!! Love you guys. 😊❤
She’s over 70 lbs now
@@ThisOffGridLife that’s like a whole other person you have to feed!! 🫣👀😂
Favourite video by far you the knack of keeping my interest to the end
I got the clear in between my metal for now 27 years and still doing just fine brings lots of light in, it the full length every other piece 42ft.
..... "babies".... for just a split second you threw me for a loop... lol beautiful workmanship on the roof, the dormer, the drone shot really shows it off well. love you guys, keep well. 🙂
It's coming together beautifully
You’re doing a great job with this roof project!
The background music is so awesome and relaxing❤
Hey Greg. Remember. You’re going to want a lot of lighting inside your shop. When you’re used to work outside with natural light when you get inside you can’t have too much light.
Hi you two. Looks great your homestead is coming along nicely.
Hi! Y’all are great! The scenery is beautiful! Mad skills on building!!! It’s really looking great!❤
The barns looking great! Id personally put polycarbonate or clear corrugated (or even acrylic sheeting or "plexiglass as its known as at times" as this can be much stronger and is UV stable meaning it will last for years from sun abuse but may be more expensive of course - youd have to figure out the costs of replacing the others over the span of a few years maybe to how long the plexiglass will likely last you vs costs to figure out the most cost affective) in at least one panel either side of the dormer for the same reasons you are doing it for the dormer! It will basically act almost like a skylight, but might be handy in winter for the animal side too to help hold some heat from any sun you may get also :) the summer you can easily have doors open etc for great ventilation and to help cool it down but in winter it may be that a skylight might just help increase the temp inside even a little on sunnier days ❤. Great job guys! X
I am really enjoying watching the work you guys have done and are doing.
The roof framing looks really good. The dormer gives it a lot more character and makes it look a lot more professional
And like a barn !!!!
The barns looking great 👍 just a reminder when pouring footings it helps hammering the sides, that will get the concrete to settle and fill in all the void's.
Keep up the good work. And try to stay positive while you build that also helps. Lol
Looking great . the addition of a shop is something you really need . Someplace where you can set up your tools and do projects .
Amazing how much work you two get done so quickly! That barn is going to change everything! For you guys and the goats! Nice!
Hi, don't worry about those angles, nobody get's it right at first try! Your work looks really professional, congratulations!!!
Nice job Gregg and a helping hand when needed by Katie.,.I wish I was there for lunch!!!
Hello from La Pine, Oregon. I watch your channel and Simple Living Alaska, you both are hard workers. Katie everyone is waiting for swinsuit milling.

The dormer was a fantastic idea!! Looks amazing!!!
Hard working as ever. I like how you go back and make repairs.
It is looking good. You are a great team. Can't wait to see the goat babies play and grow up.😊
Have a good time!I haven't seen you for a long time.Glad to see you!Real hard workers.
Beautiful barn extension! So awesome to be able to get all your wood from the forest around you! So awesome! Effing bad ass! Excuse my French but I'm so impressed on how good it's coming out! ❤
Really coming together proud of you both.
Greg winging it by the pants and you did a fabulous job can't wait to see the next step❤🇨🇦
Completion on the horizon . Brilliant team work.
Everything is looking straight plumb and true, nice work!
Greg, you should add a solar kiln to your list of projects. You could dry your lumber and your firewood.
Damn!! That dormer is the bees knees!!!
Issue with rafters is the ridge and lean too are at different angles guys. You figured it out, as you always do. It's all good.
Nice job! Those boards have to get heavy after the 1st few, you guys work so hard! Love your videos!
I'm not a dormer fan, but yours looks Great. I'm still believing that without a sawmill on your own property and plenty of log trees, what a big savings. Katie has become a resident expert in all her tasks and its a treat to see you both working as a team and loving couple together. May God keep you blessed in your journey together. Big hugs from Santa Barbara. 🤗😘🌹👏🍷💕😎🙏
Katie I mentioned Greg’s Dance Move when Milling, love your Footwork whilst you Milled. Absolutely love the new structure and adding a Dorma entrance. Loving the o dogs playing and the Goats all have character, they just love to get in your way. See you both soon, love ❤️ to you great couple xxxx ❤️💙
Hello Kate, my name is Haley me and my brother and sister watch your video with our grandpa, just like the way you guys live in the woods. My brother is talking about doing that if we can when we get older, Thanks for doing the video.
You are going to enjoy having that grass once it comes in good. Less mud! Whew! The barn is really coming along fast. You will be ready for those goat babies.
Well Done!!... All the material is well beyond minumum requirements. The dormer is fine with its upward dssign. The load will push outward and that structure is secure. Dont lose any sleep Greg, the Canada snow load wont affect that structure, Strong as heck. I know its after the fact, but when we prepped a home or garage pad we lifted it or cut the grade away. Rule is 1/4 inch per foot. Thats an inch run away per 4 feet. So when you do the final dress up on the perimeter, you can direct rain and snowmelt from the Barn. We also used Gravel to slow ruts and aid not getting stuck. My Pop loved building on hillsides. Looks Great , learning by doing. 🤙🤙🔨🛠️🔧🛠️🔨🏁🏁Be blessed ya all.
Hello from Central New York the addition looks awesome. Nice job. You’re lucky to have a wife that is willing to work with. You. Can’t wait for the next video. Thank you.
Hi from New Mexico,USA....love the way yall built the roof, looks nice and easy to build.
Where in NM? I'm watching from Albuquerque.
Good job, guys. Y'all work well together and that is a joy to watch.
You 2 are a great team sharing a common dream. Wishing you all the best ❤
Hey Guys, Amazing job. I so love the fact the lumber is milled from the property. That mill must have paid for itself by now. Love it.
Oh my....that looks like a goat resort!!!!
Great architecture folks... 😊🎉🎉🎉
You guys and your projects are awesome and very inspiring. The shop area will serve you so well, Greg couldn't be more right... with your lifestyle a good shop is a must. Can't wait to see it finished... you guys rock!
Just love following you guys on this journey of yours, thank you both for sharing.
Hi guys, I really enjoy watching your approach to tackling anything, you’re an inspiration.
Dormer looks great. For not knowing what you were doing you decided to build the hardest dormer. Every rafter is at different angles. Finishing my shop and getting my tools setup was a complete game changer. Doing projects are so much easier when you don't have to first setup the tools and then break it all down at the end of the day. Thanks for the video.
Guys, don't forget that during the winter time, there's gonna be snow and to move in and out the tractor you have to think about the level of snow. Be careful, cause you may not be able to do it. Anyway, good luck, it's looking good, keep going guys!!
Yep. Maybe even put a small concrete pad so you can easily keep snow and ice scraped down.
Those “long boards” you put on are called purlins. 😊
The building addition looks great! Nice job. 😊
Loved seeing your lunch! love food, cooking, grocery shopping included too!!!
Excellent job guys. Carpentry skills are kickin butt. I was looking at all the lumber needed and with the lengths of the boards too, that would have cost me, and any other Joe Schmo, a fortune in Home Depot lumber. Wow!!
Hello Katie,& Greg! Y’all did such a magnificent job,on your new structure. Your skill set continues to grow, amazing me with every new project. Look forward to seeing the finished product. Stay safe, healthy, happy, productive,& blessed.💯👏🏾😀🫶🏾💜✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
LOOKING GOOD U 2!
You guys are my favorite off grid show now keep up the great work on the videos the milling is a little boring but I'll get over it.
The barn addition is a stunning piece of work. And not a plan in sight. I see a change of career in the future for Greg!
when fixing barn footers, over sized square forms, add a wire mesh of some sort all around, use extra strength concrete like the 5k type, and for sure this time to vibrate forms with Sawzall with no blade so concrete will fill void in the last pour
Hi Katie & Greg & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Katie & Greg & Friends Randy
You’re right. Always the cooking. Always the the food, forever and ever. Always skip that shit😎.
unsaleable You two have become master builders.
