For the sleeper, to me the ultimate one from last season's draft is Quentin Miller. He got traded from a restart from scratch Quebec team to more of a somewhat contender in Rimouski mid-season but the Oceanic is yet another team with massive defense issues and little to no chance to getting anywhere in the playoffs, so second extremely tough job the very same year for him. And still, last 8 games he played he's got a .928 SV% pulled off 232 svs that's only 31 less saves than Fowler in the same exact span with Fowler having played 2 full more games (yes, amazing ones at that). With Volokhin also doing wonders in Russia, this goalie draft class is looking absolutely fantastic.

This is what happens in a rebuild when you finish top 3, we get good prospects. Slaf will possibly be a futur star in the NHL. Too bad the goalies keep stealing games for Montreal the last 2 seasons; we could have finished for the drafts top 3 in 2024 and top 4 in 2024. This will unfortunately hurt their futur. Monty stole a point again against the Islanders !!!

I dont think its trolling with the people who want to trade Matheson. I believe they are salivating over what the return could be for him. The return for Matheson would be greater than for any other D, and could potentially land a really good top 6 forward!

Matheson has put up some decent points, but I would say that he has more value for Montreal in a trade going forward. It's not disrespect to say that his defensive, last line of defense on the pp, game leaves a lot to be desired. Turnovers, he's in the top 10 in the NHL for turnovers. He won't be part of this core when they are ready to win.

Tony, Grant, I have asked this before and never get an answer. What do you expect Ylonen to show you getting 8 or 9 minutes on the fourth line ?? RHP looked good when he was getting high minutes on the first line. Now on the fourth he looks like crap. You get my point ??

Regarding Grant’s beautiful optimism around 32:00 to 36:00
    I think the PIECES !!!
    are all there (or close)
    for the Habs to contend
    (On defence : all there
For forwards : need to really hit a home-run with their 2024 Top10 pick)
    but the pieces will need
    some TIME !!!
    to get to maturity !
Guys like Hutson & Reinbacher will need (imo)
    At LEAST
3 more years before they really are impactful.
    Then you’ll have :
    Guhle - Mailloux
    Hutson - Reinbacher
    Xhekaj - Harris
with : Struble & Engstrom as extras
    (Not including Matheson,
    cause I’m talking about
    in 3-4 years)
    Then for forwards :
    Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
    ???? - Kirby Dach - ????
    J.Roy - Newhook - Armia(??)
    Like I said…
They really need to hit a
    HOME RUN
    with their 2024 Top10 Pick.
    And even then,
    will need to add ANOTHER
    Top-6 forward
    either through Trade or UFA’s.
    3-4 years from now…
Owen Beck will likely be on the team.
Oliver Kapanen will likely be on the team.
    Mesar ? We’ll see.
    Hopefully big guys like
    Florian Xhekaj & Luke Tuch
    can develop well,
and eventually make the big team.
That would be a huge boost,
to get two more big boys !!!
    But yeah.
    Bottomline is :
    The 2024 Draft will be
    INSTRUMENTAL
    to their future success.
    They cannot drop the ball.

Indeed, why Marty keeps overusing Matheson is kind of mind boggling...No Grant, you are wrong here, Matheson is not a number #1 defenseman in the NHL...Remember Grant, 2 teams previously had him and still traded him away because of his defensive play !!!
