Don’t underestimate how important it is to clean that tiny piece of black sponge in the side of the water collector. That proved to be the fix for loss of suction for me, and ended one almighty family tantrum.
I don’t see all my water in the base as I am cleaning the carpet. What am I doing wrong?
Two more things to try. After leaving dirty water on my carpet all night because I couldn't call, I had a long wait ("Covid-19") this morning and was given two more things to try. I have NO IDEA why these couldn't also be included in a video: 1) take the dirty water tank out, turn on the machine (yes with the tank out) and see if the red square opening is actually suctioning. (It was mentioned to clean this red area out. It was not mentioned that you should check to see if it is suctioning.) 2) clean the air filter/sponge. This is mentioned in the cleanup after use area of the guide but not as a troubleshooting tip. This was my problem. I clean the filter when I finish my carpeting, but apparently my carpet was so dirty (ugh!) that the filter clogged up really fast. It's been a while and I hadn't gotten to the cleanup so I forgot about this filter. Now it is once again taking up water. (Bissell: Could you add these two steps and save a lot of phone calls?)
Thank you for this info.. good to know someone might have a fix for this problems we are all having..
THANK YOU!!!!! My problem was 2) as well!
Ty. Husband was having a major meltdown, dog just had an accident in the home and my husband has zero patience. Read what you shared. Saved a lot of hassle
i had a loss of suction and what fixed it was i didn’t properly reattach that nozzle (at 1:30) the last time i took it out to clean it, it wasn’t snapped in tight. hopefully this can help someone else!!
The nozzle clips are broken on mine. Where can I get a replacement for it?
Barely starting using and these tips don’t help. Suction is very little compared to my first couple uses.
I just bought one. Used it once, and now no suction. I wish I saw this sight first.
I got Bissell instaclean carpet cleaner used it ones to my one small room and it isn’t working after that. What should I do? Water isn’t spraying
Nice vedios thanks.but my Bissell tank after it filled with water and shampoo to the market and contected to the machine it lose all the. Water and Shampoo directly! I don't know what's wrong?
First time was a charm. After a few uses the water reservoir literally just spills all onto the carpet without even a chance of doing what it needs to do. Everything is aligned, cleaned from debris and clicks into place. Why is it spilling all of its water reservoir???
The rubber nozzle gasket on the tank sometimes comes off and gets stuck in the machine, you'll have to use a screwdriver or something to pop it out.
@@randir14I’m sorry but where is this? The rubber piece located where it suctions?
This is more of a spill or accident here or there kind of machine and works great for that. I have used it on half of my small bedroom and it’s not ideal since you need to change the water often but it works.
Did all of this and it’s still not picking up the amount of water that it should be.
I use vinegar and hot water and baking soda on the carpet for a prep
Ive cleaned my machine very well everytime ive used it. Its only about a month old and it started making a weird noise out of no where. Ive checked the brush and everything ive cleaned off all the places it said to and it still is making the noise. Contacted bissell and was told to take it to a repair shop but im a stay at home mom of 4 and cant drop everything to go to a repair shop. I wish there were more videos of how to fix more problems for the machines
Me too
Gammer Mama I’m in the same exact boat! I’ve been having issues with my carpet cleaner and my vacuum and have now decided I’m gonna stay away from bissell.
It could be the belt, which they are no longer offering. I am also experiencing a loud engine which gets louder and it sounds like I will ruin the engine. - It had worked well for three years.
I cleaned where it said clean. But then dumped water into the area that comes directly from the motor. Put it back together and plugged it in. Ehen I turned the machine on, it blew a clot out and appears to be working better. Won't know until we wash a carpet again. The machine doesn't pick up fluid on hardwood well. But she no longer wants the carpets cleaned as it's been really cold where we live. I'll edit this when we try it again.
I’ve took ours completely apart and it still has lost suction. It’s putting the liquid out but not sucking any dirty water back in. It’s spit out a little wad of dog hair but I cleaned everything out and it still won’t have suction. Is there anything else I can do? I just bought it.. this is the first time using jt
Sorry to hear the video did not help, Ashley - give us a call and we'd be happy to assist further and make sure it's working correctly. 1-800-237-7691.
I'm having the same problem. Also it's not spraying evenly.
No suction at all. There is not even a drop of water in the collection tank.
Same herr
I tried everything in the video also called the helpline. The only thing that helped the suctioning was to reattach the nozzle that sucks the water properly it wasn't attached properly after the last cleanup. Hope this helps
Reattach the nozzle properly that sucks the water under the water tank it will fix this problem
What do you mean "loses" suction? It doesn't have any suction.
@Francis Davis scam
@Julio Johnny yea, right scammer
My machine won’t pick up water. Where is the small foam filter.
turns out my tank wasnt aligned properly and is working like a charm now, thanks!
Glad to hear it's working now!
@@bissell well mine is not working so can you help me????? Its not sucking up the water!
@@bonnieg9918 mine either and when I call Bissell several times I’m told machine is obsolete and they no longer provide support.
@@bissell do you reply only when it’s a good comment
My machine stopped sucking up water I’m broke with dirty carpet now what
Thanks! My problem is that I didn’t align the suction head on the tabs so it clicked in place. This video helped me!

I am having a problem the machine not releasing the dirty water into the tank. I have cleaned everything, made sure it was all aligned correctly and to no avail. Will more than likely be contacting you soon.

Same
Did you get it fix? If so how
Same here..
@@bissellmy steam cleaner isn’t picking up any water after less than I year of use. I did everything in your video and barely any water is in the dirt water reservoir.
I realized I didn’t have that last part snapped on :-D
Same here!
I added a little Clorox to mine water and a drop of dawn optimum. It cleaned so much better.
I have cleaned up the whole thing, it still doesn't suction.
Sorry to hear it's still not suctioning, lil Ray! Give us a call and we can assist further with your machine. 1-800-237-7691.
I'm having the same problem and have only used this once since I bought it and this was months and months ago so c.a not even return it
@@dovewhitedove43 same here..it isn't spraying evenly and the suction isn't powerful enough
This machine is terrible. I regret buying it online.
same here!!!!!! its not sucking up the water!
Common sense..make sure the tank is aligned..🙄
Mine failed after its first use. I thought it was a defect in the item, so I replaced it. The replacement was also only good for a single use. None of the cleaning instructions address the recurring issues I've had with this product. Don't buy Bissell; cheaply made products.
None of this helped me at all. Had my Bissel less than a year and it doesn’t suction any water. Hope all this water sitting in my carpet doesn’t warp and lift my subfloor. Unbelievable. You get what you pay for I suppose. Into the trash like my steam cleaner.
