Hi, nicely put video, I have been using ralco set on my inty since 4000kms now, and they have been performing like a gem, I have used it for cornering, have been to trails, and this tyre has not broken sweat, it just performs really well, on smooth roads for cornering it needs to heat up to perform well, it takes time to heat up but once it does it just grips so well, 2nd thing there is a feedback at slow speeds coz of the block pattern and since ifs flipped in front, but as speed increases it goes away, and at City crawling speeds you can feel the transition of tyre trying to go straight and when you turn the handle bar, but that happens only at very very slow crawling city speeds coz of the wear, I know my next set will be ralco as they are fantastic value and they are the best for me coz I love to go off road with them.

Grip is dependent on weight, it is directly proportional to the normal response (N) from the ground. So a pillion would be better for cornering in terms of grip, as long as weight distribution is regular and does not make CoG too high.

Have the Ralcos on my interceptor at the moment, front and rear .
    My honest review below:
    1. They lack grip and are skidding on loose sand and even good roads
    2. They make cornering effort harder, but grip is okay during conering
    3. They wobble beyond 120/130kmph and feel uncomfortable doing higher speeds.
    4. Vibration and bumps are felt a lot during rides.
Honestly waiting for them to wear out, so that I can switch back to stock Ceats. The ceats feel so planted and grippy after riding on these ralcos.
Only pros I can think of is looks and prices

      Hello there,
Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback on Ralco.
Please have the wheel alignment and cone set checked for the wobbling issue. The tire could be responsible, but the other components are often found to be the bigger culprits.
There are multiple offers available these days. Please review them before purchasing Ceat.
Have a safe and enjoyable ride.
      Best regards,

@@WanderingSom hello... Thanks for the reply. Yes it might be the cone set or the wheels, but they seemed fine before the tyre swap.
I think these issues rise when we push our interceptor, upto about 5k rpm they seem fine, post that I think the hard compound rubber in the tyre meets it's limit...

Good video Sir. Subscribed! I am also going to Spiti next month and was confused in buying Ralco. Bhai, simply get the Ralco installed and you won't experience any difference what so ever. And changing the Interceptor tyres is a nightmare in itself. Hence, I wont recommend. Either you continue with what you already have or change it beforehand.

Hi, I watched your video and learnt that I'm not the only mad one at the age of 44, to own and ride an Interceptor. I watch many videos but, you video is crisp, addresses the needs of a buyer aptly. Kudos to the work you do..
My stock Pirelli tyres have run for close to 16K kms and the rear tyre is ready for a replacement now. It'd be great if you could help me with the following answers:
    1. Which model and specs of Ralco tyres do you recommend for rear wheel?
    2. My front tyre should run fine for another 2000 kms. Would you suggest buying both the front and back tyres together?
And, keep those videos coming our way.. I will be watching them. :-)

Coming to your questions, change both the tires at the same time, same brand n same pattern so that they work in tandem. Else the bike will be unbalanced.
Secondly, there is one model from Ralco which is a 100% specs match with stock. Refer to the Ralco Videos for more details.
Just remember, what I say about the front tire ... again ref to my video for details.

Som bhai, what about the issue of wobbling? People say ki it's related to the Pirelli tires! If it is the case then is your Ralco clad bike n Timsun clad bike wobble free now?

    • @WanderingSom
      @WanderingSom  Před 2 lety

      100%.
The day I changed to Ralco, the wobbling was completely gone. The bike used to wobble between 75-85kmph. Which is also a sweet speed to let go of my hands from the handlebar. With Pirelli I could never do it, now I can do it at any speed. ZERO wobbling.
Rachit tells me that his bike is completely wobble-free after he got the Timsun.
The issue was with Pirelli as these days with the Ceat tires, you don't hear this complaint anymore.
Thank you Rohith for reaching our asking this question. I believe a lot of our fellow riders are still dealing with this issue.

Good observation. Was wondering why didn't anyone mentioned about it.
Ranjit, I do know couple of guys who got Ceat. One of the reasons I know is that they are not into touring.
Ceat doesn't give the option for Tubeless conversion ... it's a Tube tyre.
It's not a dual purpose tire ... when we tours, we need something that can tackle all kind of roads.
Ceat is known for good tires ... even in the Car segment.
Guess, there are more reason riders aren't choosing Ceat.

      1) Motul 7100 10W50 + 120ML of Polytron MTC
      2) Liquid Gun + 150ML of Polytron MTC

I mean I owned cbr 1000 rr and even that bike don't heat up that much . So I was reading on forum and someone told me using full synthetic oil will bring engine heat down . So still researching. Hi Jai,
The front is 100 and stock rear is 130. However you do get 150 for the rear. Just be aware that with 150, there is hardly any space left between the swing arms ... but does add to the stability.
Lastly if you but 120 in the front the handling goes for a toss.

Sir no offense but your riding style is very different, you're calm and safe on the roads, while others like me aren't. We maybe safe but calm.. nope. So ability to endure high speed for the tyres is a very important characteristic, I have taken my interceptor to 175kmph and it could have gone more. We don't do it often but those sometimes that we do.. it matters a lot.

      Hello Sajid,
Tyres char wajahe se change hote hai:
      1] agar treads ghis jaye,
2] agar rubber dry ho kar crack ho jaye,
      3] agar tyres kat jaye,
4] agar tyres ke expiry date aa jaye.
Interceptor ke Pirelli aam tor pe 10 - 15 hazar km chalte hai. Mere wale 15000 chale the.
Ceat bhi shayad utna hi chalte hai ... main sure nahi huin. 10,000 toh chal hi jane chahiye agar aap teekh se chalao to.

    • @WanderingSom
      @WanderingSom  Před 2 lety +1

Good question. Not that I have an accurate answer myself, the guess I could make is that the bike is designed to go beyond 175kmph at least that's the impression the company wanted people to have. With Ralco block tyres, it could be dicy. Pirelli with its lineage, it can sure do that. Moreover, I also guess, RE would have cracked a good biz deal with Pirelli hence the specific tyre.
Thank you Chethan for putting up your question.

@@chethanas2821My sincere apology for being able to simplify my response.
It is not recommended to do 150+ with Ralco. It's not about the tyre holding up, rather the roads & conditions not being adequately conducive for such speeds.
My top speed with Ralco is 140 and it performed just fine. It was just once, as an experiment.
Furthermore, even with the best of tyres, how long can you hold on a high speed on Indian roads?

      Hello Deepak,
The credit should be about the fact that you rode on P/Phantom for 28K ... and not just about not having a puncture. I wonder how did you managed it.
You will not find Pirelli through any legitimate channels as the import of tyres are banned for GOI. Ceat as an option I will not go for. Doesn't fulfil my kind of riding.
Once the ban is lifted or manufacturing begins in India, possibly you will have more options to choose from.
Till then, gotto use whatever available.

    So here is my review.
I used my stock for almost 15k around.
My tyres were completely worn and wobbled during rainy Mangalore ride .
Gave bike for service due to puncture and they suggested to change tyres. Due to non availability of tyres in the Mangalore 2020 Oct I had to settle for Ralco . Changed only rear .
Now my bike is at 22k . I still have my front Pirelli and rear Ralco . I'm more confident using Ralco in rainy conditions and bad roads . In terms of speed I touch 160 even now . I guess with stock I used to do 165/170. Over period of time I have learnt engine breaking and cornering and I feel it's mostly the rider skill . I think Pirelli is only good for a track and cornering and sexy highways but in Karnataka road are shitty and Ralco is fine for these roads. Puncture was a major problem for me and I had 3 punctures in stock and only one with Ralco.
The negativity was only given by fellow riders in biking group and friends who mocked cheap Ralco against stock Pirelli but I don't care .
Now it's time to change front tyre. I only know to ride fast . I may go for Ceat or Ralco .

      Hello Vaishakh,
Thank you for sharing your experience of Ralco. Really happy to read it. Finally a long standing query regarding the top speed of Ralco.
I would have actually recommended you to change both F&R tyres are the same time. It is recommended to have similar pattern tyres.
If you are about high speeds, maybe Ceat is a better option for you as it provides a better track grip.
      Happy and safe riding.
      Cheers!
