- Hello! I am Bosky,
In this video I share details of the off-road Scrambler modifications that I have done to my Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 motorcycle, to make it suitable for some light duty off-roading.
A couple of weeks back I had posted a couple of videos of me doing some off-roading with my Muddy Hog Scrambler and was asked by some of you to share a detailed video of the mods so, here it is.
Hope you enjoy the video. And, please feel free to comment and ask any questions and I will answer them to the best of my knowledge.
Cheers!

Hi, please comment on the mentioned handle specifications. Is that the same in your bike.
RenthalModel 609-01-BUItem Weight 1.4 pounds
Dimensions 33 x 2.5 x 2.5 inches
It’s a Renthal CR High. That’s what I remember about it.
These are some of the most tasteful and purposeful modifications I have seen on any motorcycle in India. Great job.
Thanks a ton! Means a lot coming from a CZcamsStar like you. Cheers!
@@bigbearbangalore would love to hear your views in a future video on the YSS suspension, the Himalayan front and trail riding. Now that the weight is being carried higher, how well it behaves etc. We do trails on Interceptors around Delhi and what you've done is something we've been wanting to see for a while. Some on board videos would be nice.
Sure, will do. Regards.
@@abhinavbhatt bhai mere, tu toh mereko yahan bhi mil gaya.😂😂 Be safe on that off road trail. Keep grinding
Lots of good ideas.. Another mod might be sticking the interceptor's engine into a Himalayan. Voila! The perfect bike.
When your patience for an adv 650 get's out of hand and you make one by yourself video
Brilliant
Hahaha! Thanks.
This is way underrated!! You sir are a legend
Wow, that's much praise. :-) Thanks.
This is the bike I was wanting Royal Enfield to produce. Very informative. Great modifications. Thanks for all your hard work and also for sharing your experience.
Thanks. Cheers!
You're the (not so mad) inventor.. I have a Himalayan and Interceptor and have thought, if only they were one bike. I'm looking at it. Great job!
LOL Thanks. Cheers!
Subtle yet effective mods... Love them 👍
Cheers. Thanks.
This is something i was looking for since long...superb job done! All the best👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Living room sofa comment had me going LOL superb guru, love the mods you have done, no expense spared YSS, S&S, Powertronic.
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Cheers!
Absolutely amazing. Loved each mod. Will definitely be doing some of these mods to my INT too.
Thanks! Cheers.
You've done everything I'd do if I get my hands on one of the 650 twins. Functional mods, simply lovely
Thanks! Cheers!
Awesome summary of a lovely bike that you have built up Bosky... Looking forward for more videos
Glad you liked it! Cheers!
One of the sensible mods I liked so far! I do agree with your comment about people making their seats as a sofa. Another solution which I recommend and vouch is cycling shorts!
Thank you. The quest for the right seat is a big one and to each his own. Just stuffing more soft foam is not the solution. What is actually missing from the stock seat is the firm foam support. After an hour or so the foam compresses and the rider is sitting on the seat plate. So a counterintuitive thought process is needed here. Instead of adding more foam that can collapse too, one must use a firm constructed foam and that will solve the problem. The RE touring seat does exactly this. It has a layer of 3D foam that does not collapse.
I use Motoskiveez inner shorts when on long rides. It is similar in concept to cycling shorts.
Hats off you Sir, you have done an amazing duel purpose modification 👍
Glad you like it. Cheers!
This is great, first time I have seen single seat and luggage rack done well for the 650.... Very practical.
Thank you. Cheers!
Sir, all the mods on this bike are absolutely sensible . Just loved it
Thank you. Am glad you like them. Cheers!
Really cool video! Thanks for making and sharing it! Also, excellent to see you modified the touring seat. I use the same seat on my Conti GT and its definitely comfortable and I had the same idea to modify it to a single seat with a luggage rack at the back.
Thanks! Cheers!
Clear and honest review. I love the seat and the luggage rack setup
Thanks! Cheers!
These modifications are exactly what I was looking for
Happy to hear. Cheers!
Fantastic, you've earned another subscriber! Some great tips! Thanks from the UK
Thank you much. Cheers!
Best practical mods I've seen so far on an interceptor...
Thank you! Cheers!
Also check sagar sheldekar channel, very sophisticated modification, costly but great
Brilliant piece of work. Thank you for sharing all the details. Explained so well. Really helps in the visualization and final execution. Best of luck 👍
Thanks! Cheers!
Some of the best upgrades done on this bike.👌👌👌
Thanks. Glad you liked them. Cheers!

Yesterday I came across your channel n video's Boss. Must say that I appreciate your presentation, sober and up to the point.
I was looking for information about making interceptor a scrambler which can do decent offroad.
Thanks a lot for compiling all the information at one place.
I may get in touch with you again in a years time.
Take care and have fun.
Thanks. Cheers!
I just love the intro music... Subscribed after watching just 2 videos from the channel! Brilliant stuff

Superb video!! Enjoyed it thoroughly!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks & cheers!
Good work. Very interesting. Happy travels
Many thanks and wish you too. Cheers!
sensible & very efficient mods, thanks for sharing...yss might be outta budget for many but you nailed it sir...
Thank you! Glad you like it. Cheers!
I really liked the way you explained things in the video. Love the old school yet simple concept of a 650 scrambler. this goes to show how innovative and passionate you are towards motorcycles. I have always had a soft corner for the himalayan but was really hoping for a 650 version of it and I think you just built a worthy and cool prototype. Kudos to you sir. Subscribed liked and following you on insta.
PS: if you could add details around the products and their prices in the description or in the video. That would be really helpful 👍
Hi! Glad you liked the video. Thanks. And yes a 650 Himalayan will be good but knowing Royal Enfield that motorcycle may not be a light motorcycle. :-)
The Excel front rim cost about 18,000/-, the Outex tubeless kit about 15,000/-, the tyres about 11,000/-, the YSS rear shocks about 50,000/-, the handlebar and hand guards about 18,000/-, the S7S exhaust about 45,000/- and the other odd bits and bobs about 15,000/-.
Is is all worth it? I don't know! But sure was a lot of fun doing all this and am having a good time riding the Muddy Hog.
Cheers!
@@bigbearbangalore thanks for taking the time to give a breakdown of everything, appreciate it. 👍 Cheers.
Elegant interceptor with very useful mods..
Specially Ur calm and composed presentation Is more soothing to ears..
Thank you! Glad you liked it. Regards.
Worthful modifications. Great job.
Thank you!
Beautiful mod! Absolutely beautiful
Is it equally good for touring and city commute after the mods?
What's your height and what's the seat height now afyer the mods?
Also, have also shifted the foot pegs a bit forward to have a better leg position?
Hi!
Thank you.
After mods the motorcycle is easier in city traffic due to wider bars and upright seating.
I am 5'9". Have not measured the seat height and I think it is now about 30mm more than stock height.
Foot pegs are in stock position, no change.
Cheers!
Understood. Thanks so much for the reply 😊
Good job with the suspension and ground clearance. The decat exhausts are a jewel in the crown. South Bangalore ingenuity at it's best!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very clean modifications... excellent
Thank you! Regards.
Well done! Nice mods!
Glad you like it. Thanks!
Love what you have done it looks good and a good balance between road and Adventure I myself have the Royal enfield interceptor 650 burnt orange hello from Western Australia and I myself would like that type of set up and you have given some very good Ideas thank you
Hi! Happy to hear you liked what you've seen. And once you mod your Inty, please share an image of the same if possible. Cheers!
lovely mods...I have done a lot of suspension upgrade to my Street Twin, but haven't really given a Scrambler mod...this is interesting stuff.
Thanks! Cheers!
Awesome Sir.. really liked it.. that's how an interceptor scrambler should come with ...also I liked the performance modification done like the exhaust, air filter and powertronics..I will go with these on mine..
Hi! Am pleased that you like it. Cheers!
Everything you need and more on a Interceptor 650. The only thing missing i feel is a carbon racing wanderer windshield to complete the look and performance. Nice job on the bike, looks great 👌👍
Great point! Glad you liked it. Cheers!
Thank you so much for your video!! It's great to see people as passionate as you, your work is amazing ! I'd like to begin transforming my bike as well but first I'd like to know how high your saddle is? Thanks again, I've been waiting for a video like this for years
Glad you like it, thank you. I have not measured the seat height and I think it is about 20mm more than stock height and now is about 825mm. Cheers!
Even sagar sheldekar sir would Appreciate this build ... Amazing and thoughtful modifications ...
Thanks!
Brilliant bike. I really like your ideas
Thank you! Cheers!
Loved the mods. ❤️
✌
Ek number # 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️ as we say in mumbai .. just the old school ways .. much needed
Thanks! Cheers!
Great job.. Its a lovely ride..
Thank k you.
Wonderful modifications, RE is planning to launch 650 himalayan, you made way before that. Very useful information.
Thank you! I think RE is planning a 650 scrambler. Cheers!
Lovely work
Thank you!
Fantastic build.
Thanks! Glad you like it. Cheers!
Great job! The Himalayan 650 is real, at last!
Thank you. 😄 Glad you like it. Cheers!
Superb work... Loved it ❤...
Thanks! 🙏🏻
the high front fender looks super cool!
Yeah it does! Thanks.
Excellent video. I loved the new exhaust sound. Your methodical packing of useful items is probably the best of all the modifications you have showed. The pannier like bags you showed- which is better in terms of drag/vehicle stability- -rear rack loaded bag or panniers for long rides?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed watching.
Panniers sit lower hence better for CG but are a bit draggy at high speeds while a softbag tied down on the rear seat (not on the tail rack), is less draggy but the load sits higher up. Of course if with a pillion then panniers is the best way to go.
The terrain also dictates the type of luggage. Softbags if predominantly riding on bad bumpy roads and hard bags if predominantly riding on smooth highways, is a policy that I follow. Cheers!
Love it. Just love it
🙏
Nice mods, like the way you expressed the seat mods being done like living room sofa which takes away the beauty..
The quest for seating comfort is eternal. :-)
And I hope to simplify this quest by sharing a straight swap working solution that I found. Thanks for your appreciation. Cheers!
@@bigbearbangalore : I have a baker express with a GT touring seat but i still feel some discomfort on my long drives..
And i dont want to go for the large after market seat mods only option i can think of is the air cushion..Can you suggest anything better which you came across.
Hi! You can try the air seat may be? www.treknride.com/sorebuster-medium/pid-122741861
I am not fond of air seats but since you are struggling may be you can check if this helps you. Cheers!
@@bigbearbangalore Hi, what is the handle bar you are using and whats the cost?
Hi! It’s a Renthal CR High.
Rly Awesome keep going sir..
Thanks!. Regards.
Great job Sir, very inspiring
Thanks!
Nice. A big thanks from Brazil.
Greetings! Thanks.
Thank you and greetings!
Excellent work sir... That's the beauty of interceptor which enables u to customize as per ur needs and it looks stunning. Grt modifications seen so far. Sir even I would like to do the same modifications and need ur help for this😊.
Thank you! Feel free to ask anytime any info on the Muddy Hog mods. Cheers!
Well presented....No bullshit... Enjoyed thoroughly!
Thank you. Cheers!
Brilliant modifications
Thank you. Cheers!
Awesome modification.
Glad you like it. Thanks.
RE should actually look at the mods seriously this looks damn good!!
Glad to hear that! Thanks & cheers!
Sensible modification done ✅ suspension handlebars tyres and rim for tubeless airfilter powertronics device headlights are awesome offcourse your knowledge if you don't mide I liked the most sensible is footpegs try to change the spark plugs to 360 deg NGK irredium one's 👍👌 all the best for your next ride
Am glad you like it. Will check out those plugs you mentioned. Thanks. Cheers!
Nice. I m alos planing to convert to scrambler and this video is helpful
Thanks. Best wishes.
I am surprised you did not any other 650 adventure bike which may be cheaper than this but respect all your efforts
I have a V-Strom 650 that I use for touring and an Xpulse 200 that I use for tight trail riding. The Muddy Hog is for all that is in between. With this set up, it is good on the highway and pretty decent off-road.
Awesomeness
Thanks!
I really don't know what's stopping re from using this engine on the scram... I would be the first to pick it up in that form.... Cause I am vertically challenged😆... So your mods are great for taller guys😊
This engine is way too heavy and is not best suited for a scrambler type motorcycle. By increasing the height by about 30mm I can feel the change in the cg and the bike is a little more too heavy now.
Super and simple big brother 🖐️
Thanks!
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
What a beauty
🙏🏻
Nice job 👌
Thanks! Glad you like it. Cheers!
Great .
Enjoy
Keep riding
Cheers!
I enjoyed your video.
Thank you. Cheers!
Well made video and great bike.. Kuddos👍
Thank you much.
Amazing modification sir! Purpose built 🔥
Thank you! Cheers!
@@bigbearbangalore sir how do you come up with these creative name's.
@@bigbearbangalore and what's the origin of Bosky. Always wanted to ask
Nicknames have funny and unusual origins. 😊 And some start with a nick name based on some mannerisms and habits and then name evolves and changes and finally sticks at the final version! 😊
I shifted to gt650 footpegs through royal Enfield service centre . The issues with footpegs touching your shins is gone for good. Bike is super comfortable. No issues. Costs near rs 3000 inc labour. Worthy
Glad that you are enjoying the Interceptor. Cheers!
Excellent video sir. 👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice Sir! Dream it, do it!
Thank you.Cheers!
Sirji, that BGM is REGAL!!!!!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Glad you like it. Cheers!
Neatly done sir, some people go for scrambler style exhausts but their durability is questionable.
My only worry would be the strain on front end due to taller suspension. The point where Himalayan cracked the most. Stock chassis is not designed for this much strain. Maybe an additional gusset would ensure the chassis doesn't give away. If we remember even Himalayan has been reinforced there.
Hi! Scrambler style exhausts would go well here. I did consider but decided not to.
The suspension is taller by about 30mm and there is likely to be no additional strain on the frame. However thanks for this feedback. Cheers!
excellent job on the bike ,have herd enfield is going to make a 650 scrambler hopefully with high pipes
Thanks! Yes there are rumours that a 650 scrambler is in the works.
Super bro.... super 😇😇
Thank you so much!
I love it....nice bike.
Thank you!
Very nice.looking good.superb
Thank you! Cheers!
Really interesting build.
🙏👍
Its very nice indeed !!
Indeed it is!
Awesome wrk
Thank you!
I think apart from the exhaust can swap, a lithium battery is a good way to get rid of weight. One down front sprocket is also something to consider if the gearing is more street oriented.
yes!
