  • Hello! I am Bosky,
    In this video I share details of the off-road Scrambler modifications that I have done to my Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 motorcycle, to make it suitable for some light duty off-roading.
    A couple of weeks back I had posted a couple of videos of me doing some off-roading with my Muddy Hog Scrambler and was asked by some of you to share a detailed video of the mods so, here it is.
    Hope you enjoy the video. And, please feel free to comment and ask any questions and I will answer them to the best of my knowledge.
    Cheers!

      @@bigbearbangalore would love to hear your views in a future video on the YSS suspension, the Himalayan front and trail riding. Now that the weight is being carried higher, how well it behaves etc. We do trails on Interceptors around Delhi and what you've done is something we've been wanting to see for a while. One of the sensible mods I liked so far! I do agree with your comment about people making their seats as a sofa. Another solution which I recommend and vouch is cycling shorts!

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you. The quest for the right seat is a big one and to each his own. Just stuffing more soft foam is not the solution. What is actually missing from the stock seat is the firm foam support. After an hour or so the foam compresses and the rider is sitting on the seat plate. So a counterintuitive thought process is needed here. Instead of adding more foam that can collapse too, one must use a firm constructed foam and that will solve the problem. The RE touring seat does exactly this. It has a layer of 3D foam that does not collapse.
      I use Motoskiveez inner shorts when on long rides. It is similar in concept to cycling shorts.

I have always had a soft corner for the himalayan but was really hoping for a 650 version of it and I think you just built a worthy and cool prototype. Kudos to you sir. • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi! Glad you liked the video. Thanks. And yes a 650 Himalayan will be good but knowing Royal Enfield that motorcycle may not be a light motorcycle. :-)
      The Excel front rim cost about 18,000/-, the Outex tubeless kit about 15,000/-, the tyres about 11,000/-, the YSS rear shocks about 50,000/-, the handlebar and hand guards about 18,000/-, the S7S exhaust about 45,000/- and the other odd bits and bobs about 15,000/-.
      Is is all worth it? I don't know! But sure was a lot of fun doing all this and am having a good time riding the Muddy Hog.

    Excellent video. I loved the new exhaust sound. Your methodical packing of useful items is probably the best of all the modifications you have showed. The pannier like bags you showed- which is better in terms of drag/vehicle stability- -rear rack loaded bag or panniers for long rides?

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed watching.
      Panniers sit lower hence better for CG but are a bit draggy at high speeds while a softbag tied down on the rear seat (not on the tail rack), is less draggy but the load sits higher up. Of course if with a pillion then panniers is the best way to go.
      The terrain also dictates the type of luggage. Softbags if predominantly riding on bad bumpy roads and hard bags if predominantly riding on smooth highways, is a policy that I follow. Cheers!

    Neatly done sir, some people go for scrambler style exhausts but their durability is questionable.
    My only worry would be the strain on front end due to taller suspension. The point where Himalayan cracked the most. Stock chassis is not designed for this much strain. Maybe an additional gusset would ensure the chassis doesn't give away. If we remember even Himalayan has been reinforced there.

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi! Scrambler style exhausts would go well here. I did consider but decided not to.

    I think apart from the exhaust can swap, a lithium battery is a good way to get rid of weight. One down front sprocket is also something to consider if the gearing is more street oriented.
