- Man do we have a cool one for you today. My wife was on Facebook marketplace and found this super rare 1965 Ford Econoline E100 pickup truck that has not ran in years. These are very unique truck with their Falcon platform unibody construction, with straight axle front suspension and mid engine design with forward control. I have always been a big fan of them but have never had a chance to own one until now. Can we get this old 170 inline six cylinder running and driving again after so many years parked?

Wawa's first car maybe?
@@ladonnaghareeb4609
We are all thinking the same thing
Josh, I believe you should give this one to Wawa since she loves it and she is probably not far from getting her license. Ralphie is younger and already has a car so I think it's her time. 🙂
Yeah maybe so
I agree 100%
For sure!
@@Sleeperdude WaWaWaWaWa !!!!!
I will have to agree
Wahwah is turning into an exceptional mechanic. Giving Ralphie a run for his money. Squeeze is marching to her own beat. It is fun to see y’all working together as a family making memories your kids will cherish. Don’t worry about Squeeze. When you find her participating in something she enjoys encourage her and let her make it her thing. Love you guys and holding y’all in prayer.
I love this little truck. You've got to keep it standard. It screams of the 60s, like Scooby-Doo and the Mamas and Papas! Josh and Tosh you're giving your kids such a great life. They're very lucky. You all are. Lots of love.
Thank you
Really enjoyed meeting you guys at Pigeon Forge. Thanks for taking the time to talk with me.
Our pleasure! Thank you
I think you should keep it as factory as possible. Fix the rust holes and make sure it is structurally sound. Make it a dependable daily driver.
Get the paperwork straight.
And then give it to Wawa!
Did you see the way her eyes light up when she looks at it?
She has been there helping you work on it. Watching you work on it from the side. Riding in it all the time.
She clearly loves it.
C'mon man, make it her first vehicle.
Yeah maybe so thank you
Floor would rust out so I put plate back and carpet, was very noisy inside lolol 😊
I love it to wawa
We had one, but it was the camper van version. In the mid 70's dad bolted my "safety seat" 🤭 to the middle engine cover. We went to Wyoming that way. Dad told the story that I was fusy, and as soon as we set off in my seat, I calmed down. Thank God we never blew a piston.
Oh wow!
Seeing you fix up these old cars is like bringing history back to life in real life. That Econoline 1961 - 1967 is a piece of history. I was born in 1962 :)
Awesome glad you enjoyed it
Josh, you remind me a lot of my father (who passed a year ago Christmas Eve) and watching your videos reminds me of my childhood and watching my dad. I hope to meet you in person and express my gratitude to you for the videos you create. I think God brought me to this channel for that reason. Much love too you and your family! Thank you for all you do! May God bless you even more!
Wow that’s awesome! Thank you so much.
@@Sleeperdude I live about 30 minutes from Lorain Ohio where that was built
Nice score. These are so hard to find. It's a keeper👍
Restore it
Do the bodywork please......
Looks like a great first vehicle for Wawa, you could tell how much she loved it.
Love the old advertising, thank you sleeper dude👌😀👍👍
Back in the 60's the front end from an Econoline worked great for straight axle conversions for '55-'57 Chevs. and other door cars. 😎
That's what happened to most of them flat nose fords
As always, great footage. As rare as this is, this is 100% restoration material. This needs all mechanical, interior, and bodywork done and fresh Poppy red paint. I realize there is a lot of rust, but with only 2000 built and even less remaining, a full restoration is a must for this. It will definitely be worth it. Restoration to factory original as much as possible, and no "patina."
Yeah maybe so on this one
@@Sleeperdude definitely.
I have some 15s from a ranger that will probably fit it with caps
U r real funny,joker
From the moment you got that engine started until the very end I just couldn't get the smile off my face. What a great little truck. So glad you were able to get it to run. As usual the whole family involvement adds to the enjoyment of all of your videos. 😊
The big smile doesn’t leave Josh’s face either, especially as he drives it around.
I can’t get enough of your videos. You are so lucky to have a family that is so supportive as yours. I was involved in a serious accident at work in 2013. I am also a mechanic, unfortunately the accident has taken that all away from me. I can no longer wrench, but it doesn’t keep me from enjoying my car hobby. I just have to teach people how to work on my cars.Whenever I am feeling down about my situation, it helps me to watch your videos. It puts a smile on my face every time. God bless your beautiful family!
It's good to hear that you still can do some work. Keep it up, God will watch over you 🙏.
Spider got in through the valve cover ( no gasket ) then down through the intake or exhaust valve. The best family on you tube . Great values and lots of love . Love the Econoline. Thank you SleeperDude family.👍❤️🇨🇦
When I was 12 years old, I helped my older brother rebuild the engine in a 66 Econoline van he had purchased while helping him throughout the summer working in the junkyard he worked in...Good memories...Hard to believe that was 30 years ago
That’s great
U really 12?? That is soo awesome!! We show u something!! Welcome dude!!

You have the best wife, pushing y’all out of the shop, driving like a crazy woman. 😂 I love it.
Thank you
i was so happy you were so happy, i had to rewind it 3 times to watch again. i hope the guy who sold you it was watching
Wow! I just accidentally stumbled across this video. Brings back a lot of memories to me. I had a sixty three ford Econoline van Back in 1992 and drove it from California to Ohio With my stepfather who just passed away recently. I drove it around for a couple of years until the steering kingpin froze up and the steering box went out. Something I would highly recommend going through if you're going to getting this thing up and running. Awesome family b t w.
What a cool story. I’m glad you found our channel
This is the car that you please need to do a total restoration, that would be so awesome. 😊 you surprise me every week, sleeperdude.
Ok thanks we might do that
Good luck on finding parts, especially brake parts. The wheel cylinders and brake shoes are available, the drums you might find, but difficult . I found one close by where I live, the problem is all 4 drums are wore beyond any useful life. I passed on the deal.
Good luck regardless what you do with it.
People recommend upgrading the brakes on these FOCs, to disk. I want to see Josh do this, for my benefit.
Whoops! Late at night, had to txt, but used wrong acronyms. 😆
COE not FOC, lol 🤣.
That little thing is so awesome! Don't tell Ralphie, but I'd like to see it with a big ol' Godziller in the back of it! But a truck that rare deserves to be restored to original.
Yea!!
Lord, do I really love that truck! My Scoutmaster Art Davis had a green Econoline van and we rode to many scout outings in it. As I remember it ran like a top and pulled a pop up camper. This is definitely a fixer-upper/keeper vehicle --I can see Ralphie and the girls all driving this someday. It is so great to see the entire family to be so enthusiastic about this vehicle. As I recall these transmission linkages were always a bit fiddley. It may need some work. I would go ahead and do the body work, rebuild that engine fix the brakes and make it really nice. The kids really seem to LOVE IT!!!! You can restore the steering wheel with two-part epoxy putty and repaint it white. Definitely keep it close to factory -- replace the wheels with Coker 14" wide whitewall radials. It would win trophies at car shows. Don't lower it, don't modify it in any way. Go back as close to factory stock as possible -- paint, interior, the whole nine yards. These trucks are too rare in this day and time and it would be worth more factory restored.
My dad had a 61’ and a 65’-it was poppy red- everything as yours except the side trim-had white bumpers- my sister and I sat on the engine when we traveled- I learned how to drive on that truck- great memories
I really hope to see you guys continue working on the Econoline. This was a good one, keep working on it!
That's the kind of find that begs for a restoration.
Love you guys.
Hi Josh and family , I'm from. Lorain here , that Ford plant closed. About 15 -18. Years ago, it started in 1958 , the Lorain plant was known for the most two tone paint paint scemes , it's now used for storage , we have a plant near by in Avon lake Ohio, that makes large trucks yet , I remember those vans when I was in school back in the 60s. Very dependable ! good luck Josh , Tom 😊
So many of my friends who watch your videos have the same feeling about your goat / s being in the garage & around your work area .
You have to remember that they are farm animals not pets & have no place in the garage/ work area .
Maybe it's because we here in Butler Pennsylvania don't have our farm animals around us when we work on our vehicles .
Still it's enjoyable to watch your videos
That’s a keeper! Those things were a trip to drive.
I think so too
Looks like Ralphie is going to get lessons in bodywork including panel fabrication. 👍😉😁
I think your right
I ❤ the job you and your Family does together on every vehicle you brings home, Mom ,Ralphie , Wawa , Squeeze along with granny' she helps too.... 😊
I’ve been watching you all lately and enjoying you all!!! You have great family values and the kids are amazing. You and your wife are doing a wonderful job
I love how knowledgeable you are about cars and that you are willing to share what you know with all of us. And with your kids!!!
I am a 65 year old women and I have already learned so much from you. You are helping me understand engines so much better than before
My dad did teach me a few things but years age girls weren’t really supposed to be interested in cars.
I did learn how to drive at 15.5 and got my license in a Mercedes 1958. Same year I was born. The car was my dad’s baby. I’m so lucky he let me drive it. It was a 4 speed on the column. And dad was always telling me to listen to the engine to know when to shift.
He had it restored with alligator leather seats and wood dashboard plus other wood details. It was a beautiful car painted a pretty creamy white
Anyway keep up the show I’m enjoying it daily!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
My dad had one of these . It was rustier than the Titanic . It was black with old school Cragers on it . Brings back fond memories . Thanks family. His was a 1963 Econoline truck. Yes the shift linkage would hang up from time to time. He'd just rock the whole truck back and forth to get free.
Andrea, I am very acquainted with that shift linkage problem. The little piece that slid between the shift levers was worn and would slip out of the lever for first and reverse. I had to remember NOT to push down on the lever when shifting out of 1st gear or it would hang up.
It's nice to see family working together 😊
Thank you
I had this same color econoline truck, but mine was a 64. We pulled the motor and put the hoss 300 inline 6, C6 trans, and wheel adapters to run Olds 442 rims on it. I pulled apart one of those old console stereos and put the speakers(10 inch Woofer, huge horn tweeter encased in styrofoam) behind each seat! You could clearly hear my stereo a block away. I regret giving up that truck so much. I didn't know it was a Falcon platform until about 2 years ago. Love it, love it, love it!
I know this is from 8 months ago, just trying to catch up on back videos. I like the viennas too, always poured out the juice, replaced it with some hot sauce, let 'em marinate a bit. Before that it was the congealed goo inside with those weinies. I need another econoline pickup truck.
As a kid in the 70s-80s I have ridden thousands of miles on one of those dog houses.
Between the frame and bed is probably a big piece steel/iron to help with ballast. Grandpa's had one.
Ok thank you
I feel your pain with Rock auto. I ordered a radiator from them and it looked like Ace Ventura kicked it all the way to my house. And like you said, good luck getting a hold of anyone to resolve it. I believe shipping to return it was more than I paid for the part. Very frustrating. Thanks for the great content! You and your family make my day!
Thank you
Ordered a tank for my Camaro from them a couple weeks ago. No filler neck. Out $60 shipping both ways. I’m done with them.
Im done with Rock Auto 7 years ago...A1 Auto is pretty good.
@@ohcrapwhatsnext A1 Auto does alot of you tube how to videos
Hey Josh, I noticed the smoke is clearing up. Rings must be loosening up. Great little truck!! With that age, if your not going with original hoops you have to have Cragar S/S hoops!
This is one of my favorites! Certainly a Gem right there. I hope to see more videos of this project indeed. Maybe just fix it up nice just to drive it around and take to Car shows etc... As Rare as it is I wouldn't go too hog wild with it. A Keeper for sure!
Sleeperdude I’m so glad your teaching your kids about how to work on different vehicles, spending time with family is so important love to see the videos ❤
Oh my gosh that was a fun one. My uncle had the van version. It was so much fun going to the beach in that thing. Perfect little goat hauler.
They are cool
WOW!! I always wanted one of those beasts!! It looks sooooo good! As an aside, I too was "made" in June 1965...coincidence?? I think not 😂
I think not!!! Thank you
Around 1976 I had a 1965 model full van with 240 engine with three on the tree. the air filter actually had oil in it for trapping the dirt. lot's of good memories.
I remember my Dad having a 61 Econoline van when I was a youngun' we used to go to Citico Creek trout Fishing in the Spring and Summer and we would camp out in that ol van on Friday nights and get up at daylight to fish. I remember when he first got it when I rode in it it would scare me cause I always thought if he hit the brakes too hard it would flip frontwards on it's face....lol. Great memories! Thank you guys😉
That's awesome! I haven't seen one of those in forever! This is gonna be a fun restoration! 💯😊❤
Always a great day when sleeper dude post it's even better when it's a HR and half video 🤘💯
Hope you enjoy
OMG 1965 Spring Special one year only! LOVE these old Econolines & Falcons So Stoked you picked this up!!!
Thank you
My late uncle had a van type Ford just like the pickup you have. I was very young and he , my dad and I all went for a ride to somewhere I think to pick up a washing machine in his van. He had a knob shifter and it was down close to the bottom of the seat but some how he could drive and shift. He reached over and grabbed my knee and he looked at me and said whoops! I guess I grabbed the wrong knob.I miss my uncle Edwin. I'm never disappointed by any of your videos.Yall keep up the great work you're doing and I'll keep watching for as long as you're putting the videos out. Thanks again sleeper dude family best wishes to all of you.
Harvest King is sold at many farm/home stores. Atwood, here in Oklahoma, sells their oil. Great project and relatively easy to work on. Love Ralphies work boots!!
Awesome thank you
Wawa sure acted like she might like daily driving this when she gets her license. I think it's rare enough and in good enough shape that it needs to be restored back to factory condition. I'm torn though, I love seeing these do wheel stands down the drag strip.
I saw the exact same thing.
Same here … Wawa make it yours
Hello sleeper dude family watching from the high desert of 29Palms SoCal,
I have a 1971 CJ5 Jeep with The dauntless 225 V6 that I bought for my son because it was time for him to move up from the go-kart life.
we were restoring over the years we got the jeep running but I still ended up buying another new used engine sent the heads in to have a valve job & we changed out the points to electronic distributor we put a new suspension under it & he started doing the wiring in it.
Well I got seriously hurt at work and a few months later our 19 year old son died in a rollover accident 1-20-2020,
My son had many projects he was in the process of building a right hand swap in a 1995 Integra & boosted 1998 Honda Civic.
I watch & really like your channel because of the family interaction.
God bless
I distinctly remember my father's 64 Econoline van with a wheelbarrow of cow manure in the back, taking a corner and of course you-know-what hit the fan 😂 you need to keep that thing completely original. I love you guys you're an awesome family doing some awesome stuff. God bless you all and keep up the great work 👍✌️🇺🇲
I have so many memories of my dad's 65. I spent so much time learning 3 in the tree while parked lol. I'd watch my dad so I thought I knew. I cam still smell that straight 6 and man..... sooo many memories like my first hornet sting from that truck. Cool man!!!!
That’s awesome
Ralphie's commentary while Tosh was driving had me laughing.
What a sweet truck! Awesome startup video. Your kids are remarkable. The excitement shown when they saw the Econoline was priceless.
This rig is AWESOME. It reminds me of the 2 cab-over Jeep pickups my father had in the 1970s. He rolled them both into a field by speeding around a tight corner on our dirt back road. Yup, the same corner both times. Luckily, I wasn't riding with him when that happened, but he is the person who taught me how to drive...
Thank you
@@Sleeperdude Since we were all young at the time, My 2 sisters sat together in the passenger seat and I actually sat on top of the engine doghouse. Since it was the 70s, seat belts were ignored.
When I was a kid, my dad had a 64 econoline van that was a pop top. We used to go camping all the time in that van. This shows my age a bit it even had the old four track stereo in it, lol 😆! Y'all just have too much fun lol!
She`s a runner!!
Congrats family, this one was an easy one to get running in comparison to the Metro -Mat van, 64 Ford wagon with the engine that was stuck and would not run, & Ford Fairmont (s) . Don`t forget to check the gear oil in the rear diff & transmission. I remember the point gap on Ford V-8`s being 19 . never owned a Ford with a 6cyl engine, 25 point gap sounds a bit too large but I do not know. We love to watch you guy`s , It makes us still have hope for mankind all over this world. Love your videos and we thank you for all the work each and everyone of you do to make it happen for so many people to enjoy. May God bless and keep you safe and happy 😄🤣✝
Thank you so much
Love to see y’all do a full restoration on this beauty.
I love these trucks. Your oldest had stars in her eyes when she saw it... don't be surprised if she requests to drive it in highschool 🙂
"Oooo She burned your biscuits." Ralphie had me rollin with that one
I also urge you to do a full restoration, l knew a guy that had a van with a 4 speed on the column , l think your channel will benefit from showing more bodywork , and doing a full restoration will showoff your skills, and that truck deserves it
Ok thank you
I agree to the fullest.
I think Sleeperdude needs a break from bodywork. He's doing just fine without it. Doing restoration work on rare but nobody cares vehicles is not profitable.
I haven't seen one of those in years can't wait to see how you fix up It was something I couldn't believe it started so easy I like the baby goats 🐐🐐
I know right
You need to leave them Rockstar's alone. I'm 60 years old. And I know of 4 people that have had Strokes caused by energy drinks.I had1 when I was 47. Thank God I recovered. But it took a while to learn to walk again!!

I have owned two of these. One was a red 3 window and the other was a blur and white 5 window. They are a joy to drive and a pain to work on. I changed the engine in the red one (upgraded to an '80's 200 6 cylinder. I had to strip the interior and take the engine out and back in through the passenger door. Every time the front axle hit a bump you would pogo up and down. When the back axle bounced the driver seat would rock forward. I wish I still had them.
I have this same truck, when I was little dad put me a lawnmower seat in the middle until I got to tall, he put a 289 with 2 4 barrels in it, fun truck😂
Awesome

I love this one, I actually learned how to drive in a Econoline van, 3 on the tree, went from that to a triumph spitfire, my dad hated me and refused to teach me how to drive so my oldest brother taught me behind his back, unfortunately the van was wrecked in Santa Rosa, New Mexico by a brother in law

Thank you
Always a joy to see the family interaction. Not sure you look at other channels but Mustie 1 has one the same in progess with metal repair. Keep up the fun.
It may be worth more fully restored, but I think new hoops would jazz it up a bit, I also might ‘improving’ the interior as you did on the F100 with the cow theme. But the exterior I would keep stock, might try to improve the suspension, if possible, but I would keep the solid axle up front as ‘authentic.’ For the power plant . . . a 302? And increase the ratio of the rear differential to get it out of the hole faster. Basically a ‘cruiser,’ not a bruiser, and definitely a sleeper - dude!
Make it WaWa's first car. 😘👌 An hour and almost 30 mins. ❤
Thank you for all the smiles, 2x👍
I agree. And build it how she wants it.

@@WWS2 That would be so nice 👍👍I would have loved this as my first car.
I absolutely LOVE this truck!! I have loved these since I was a kid. I would love to find one one day. I cannot wait to see more videos on this one! Great score!
I was in the US Air Force and enlisted in January 1966. I went through Basic Training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas and then Security Police Tech School also at Lackland AFB. Then off to Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi. That’s where I first saw the Ford Econoline van with the chopped off rear area like a pickup truck. They were used as an Alert Response Team vehicle for easy deployment out of the bed of the truck. Since it was government purchased it was bare bones and extremely HOT since the so called engine was 3/4st into the drive portion of the cab … which insulated but still HOT. 170 cubic inch in line six and three speed on the column and did I say HOT!! Good luck as always 😮😅😊
I think you guys did a great job with the new merchandise truck and yes I think you guys should put a trailer hitch and make an enclosure on your little trailer so you can get plastic tubs in it for extra merchandise , that way the little trailer can be used ❤LoveJim J&R mobile service and God Bless y'all and your critters
Yes 👍 thank you
I love that truck..,my dad said he wouldn't have one because the driver is always the first one at the scene of the accident..lol .love the channel..keepermovin
That’s funny
This is the best pickup made. It can not be over loaded. I hauled fire wood many years with one and it never let me down or disappointed me.
Ok great thank you
We had those things in the Air Force back in the 60's. They were the toughest things I've ever seen. Couldn't kill them. Go as fast as they would go in reverse and jerk her down in low and it would hop up and down.never hurt them.

I don't know who was more excited when that thing started up, me or a you guys! Sounded like an old Model T.
That's definitely a keeper!! 👍👍 I used to see a lot of those Econoline vans from that era on the road, but they were used so much that's why I think they disappeared.
