Zen 5 will be the typical 15-20% faster as it has been with almost every single generational step. And as always, both Intel and AMD feed hype BS well above what turns out to be reality.
That 40% is legit. In certain workloads with software compiled just right for the cpu.

Usually, it's not the companies that feed the hype but leakers who are trying to draw attention to themselves. Most of the companies learned it the hard way that overpromising and underdelivering is a recipe for disaster.

Except AMD hasnt stated 40%, the one feeding are the clickbaiter like this youtuber who knows that big numbers = clicks, and "leakers" who also know the same
Single core uplift and IPC are 2 different things. ZEN 5 is getting 40% single core uplift not a 40% IPC uplift. If they were getting 40% in IPC then they'd be getting a higher % uplift in single core because single core uplift includes IPC, clock speed, cache, and I think also memory speed/bandwith. For just the IPC for ZEN 5 I think they're getting something like a 15% uplift over ZEN 4 IPC.

20-25% IPC gain over Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 series.
Note: The rumor/leaks show that it's over 30% IPC.
So 20-25% is more realistic but can't be 15% is way too low..
Where are you getting that from? The source says its greater than 40% increase in SPEC. That is a standardized benchmark from a nonprofit consortium.
Brett, my first thought about time on the Moon was to just slap a UTC on the Moon and be done with it, but then I remembered it's in motion around the Earth, and Einstein said that motion through space in relationship to another object does weird things to time. So, yah. Math bois are gonna have to math this out. And I feel sorry for ANY programmer that now has to include the Moon's time zone as one of the time zones to do time with. Hopefully the Moon won't have Daylight Savings on it.

First one to put a clock on the moon has to be allowed to create the LTC timezone…
that would be hard to figure out who exactly it is, since the sun would likely say it was the first, but then some remote stars will say they where before the sun, then some remote galaxy which many people used to think to be a star and which is part of the draco constellation will say they where before those stars.
then some random stupid person on the internet will come up with a stupid reason why they are supposed to be the one for it.
I still remember back in 2001, the company I was working for could not get Cable Internet, since they were still wiring up neighborhoods in my city, so we had to get ADSL, which was limited to 1.5 up and down. Depending on the distance from the phone company you could get up to 8 meg per sec, we were so close to them that we could get 8 the highest line speed the tech had ever seen for the business. Consider we were only an alley and one office away from them. Now those were the days.
Just recently in my city we got fiber being rolled out by T-Mobile of all companies, it did make my Comcast monthly price drop as well as speeds increase because I'm sure there's worried about finally having competition in the area

since I have tried to use it but every deal I have found on there which looked potentially interesting was in other countries.
I’m in Arizona and the gas station circle k here has a little kiosk you place your items down and it automatically scans them and you just pay and leave, it’s really cool and they have an employee on standby incase something doesn’t go in properly but honestly it’s a convenient way to get in and out! Love the content!

Is zen 5 is 40% faster than my 7800x3d I might have to find a bridge because I got it black Friday last year lol, in seriousness I don't want a product as soon as it comes out so it can mature in software so it doesn't melt on me when I buy it .
Decathlon had the scanning some time ago...works perfectly, it's just a big basket in which you drop your stuff and it gets scanned and weighted for precision ...it's just a self checkout but it is really good

I generally don't run my browser or any other background application while gaming. Not just because of RAM, but also because I don't want those programs eating up compute cycles on my CPU since I don't have the fastest CPU on the market and I play a lot of open world CPU-heavy games.
Okay, are they talking Zen 5 desktop specifically or also laptop? Because I'd rather have less CPU power and way less power usage on a Ryzen CPU. Use that to extend battery life or give extra attention to iGPU (waiting for 3060 perf)

Zen 5 will be am5's second generation chip. Maybe they have figured out how to utilise the potential of the socket. The jump from ryzen 3000 from 1000 was already very big. 2000 and 8000 are similar

Arizonan here. The circle K scanners are really weird. I avoid them after it tried to tell me a Gatorade was actually a beer.
I have a Ryzen 7900x and Ryzen 7600x so I'm not an Intel fanboy, but literally every time a Ryzen or Radeon is about to come out they promise so fantastical number, that being said I am looking forward to moving my 7900x to my secondary system and putting a 9900x in its place
Except AMD does not promise high numbers, rather they HEAVILLY sandbagged Zen4, but "leakers" on twitter want clicks so big numbers

Zen 5 architecture has a significant uplift in floating point operations. So in some tests those CPUs could indeed be 40% faster or even more. It doesn't translate to 40% more FPS in games though. Typical Zen's gen over gen IPC improvement is somewhere in the range of 10-20%. I don't think it will be different this time.

Sitting in South Africa and watching this on 200/200Mbps Fibre that costs less (with inflation) than 4/1 Mbps ADSL ten years ago. It is great when the government monopoly gets out of the way of healthy freemarket competition.
