- If you're experiencing symptoms of your engine sounding loud during starting, chances are spark plugs need replacing.
Failure to change out spark plugs may lead to engine misfire and wear and tear of engine components.
Once I'd replaced the spark plugs for the 2011 Kia Sorento, the vehicle sounded much quieter and ran a lot better.

Great video. You;ve shown every step for us. Other videos show steps already completed in some cases, but not here. Thanks for making things more simple for us.
I have the same exact car/engine. Now I know how to change my spark plugs. will be doing that this weekend!!!
How many miles on your engine? Sorry, I'm buying one today lol!
this is probably the best video ever I’ve seen on CZcams on how to do something, every step documented and very good camera angles. you’re awesome man, just subscribed!
A good video. I'm getting ready to do this on my 2012 Sorento with the 3.5L six. I have 200K miles on my plugs, so it is time to change them. She's been a workhorse. I have already done this on my 2008 Nissan Versa. Why they insist on placing the air manifold over the plugs is obvious, they don't want us shade tree guys doing this. The dealership quoted me a grand to replace the coils and plugs in the Nissan. I did it for $300. So again, thanks for the video. It helps a lot.
No worries man. Im glad it helps.
This channel is dedicated to the rip off mechanics as some good old fashion pay back.
The Sorento still going at close to 400,000 km now.
2012 not far behind.
This was a great video thank you so much. It was great to have a guide to put my mechanic skills to the test.
No worries! Glad it helped out! Anything to put crooked shops in check. Puts power back into the right people.
Awesome video I just did mine and it would have taken me a day or more before giving up without your video! two hours later I am done!
No engine lights and purrs nicely..thank you!
Great work! Glad it helped.
Bravo! Very clear, step by step presentation. Thanks a lot!
Great video, super helpful. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Took some time to find the same model for mine; I have the same engine on my 2013 Sorento 3.5L 6V as well. Getting ready for the weekend, mine has 320k on it and has not been changed. A bit nervous about seizing or loking any threadings to be honest. Much appreciate it. ty
This was a HUGE help. Thanks so much my dude!
You got it.
Thank you so much, this videos helps me a lot.
Excelente información y detallado un saludo desde Mexico
It’s crazy to me how he did most of it with only one hand
Helped out big time thank you!
Nice video, and very helpful. Thanks !
Glad it helped!
Nice perfessonel video, thank you.
Thanks that helped me out being single 🙂. Thank you for sharing.
Hey, thanks a lot, really helpful. Greetings from Monterrey MX.
Very cool! Thank you from Monterrey MX.
You don't need to remove the plugs clip wires. And u do not need to remove the throttle body. You did a great job of the video ! But just want to point out that u can squeeze for space. I used zip ties to hold up that black manifold and left the throttle body on and could work from the left side and reach and get all plugs. Another note is that u can use the tip of the plug wire (gray rubber tube) to pull the spark plug out if ur having trouble getting it out . Just loosen the old spark plug off then push plug wire (gray tube) into spark plug. because it's not threaded in the plug wire will pull the plug out.
Hey thanks for pointing that out. You're right. Dont need to unclip gray rubber tubes to replace spark plugs but it does still works.
Not sure about throttle body but if it worked, that helps!
@@AutomotiveForBeginners ya I just left throttle body on but I removed the hose from the air filter to throttle body. Your video helped me a great deal! Especially that 12mm bolt in the back hidden!. But I got an engine light after replacing the plugs something about high voltage in bank 1 . Guy told me to reset battery and engine light went off
@@AutomotiveForBeginners That is why I love these videos, you get other perspectives and pointers.
Thanks for pointing that out.
Will these spark plugs fit a 2013 sorento lx v6?
Good video! Question: is anti-seize lube on the spark plug threads recommended ? Thanks
I have never heard of using anti-seize on spark plugs. Probably wouldn't recommend it. But if you live in a rust prone area, maybe some might work.
Thank you I will skip it!
Thank you for the video. Have some question. My 2011 sorento v6 started acting up with no cel. It’ll start up but idle very low and rough like it’s misfiring and die after a few seconds. No response to pressing the gas pedal and You can smell Unburnt fuel from front of engine. To my knowledge, spark plugs has never been change so I’m going to start with that. What other issues do you think it might be? My first thought was, injector(s) stuck open, coil pack(s) dead, and/or spark plugs are bad. When it was running before all this happen, I notice recently the exhaust fumes was a strong CO2 smell by just standing around the car. That could of been the first sign to my issue. TIA
It's really hard to say exactly what is the problem with so many issues apparent. But I think what you said already is on the right track. Maybe also check PCV valve. But it could be all of the above. Good luck.
@@AutomotiveForBeginners it ended up being the fuel pump. Got it back up and running again.
Hi what you think about change oil transmission i have same car thanks a lot
czcams.com/video/-ATvBUdKhas/video.html
I was curious do you know if dealerships have specialized tools to get the job done or just the advanced know how?
I would say 9/10 times they just have the knowhow because of their in house manuals. Tools are practically the same.
Gteat job bro
Would this be the procedure on a 2016 sorento ,same engine
Not too sure. But they do make similar, if not identical models.
I wouldnt think much would be different.
Nice car
Wouldn't be good idea to replace intake manifold gasket?
Yes it would. However I had no problems with leakage up to date. Dealer charges something like $300 and up for gaskets.
If ur leaking I would suggest gaskets.
@@AutomotiveForBeginners , thanks a lot .
Is your sorento awd or fwd ?
I don't think it makes a difference whether you have fwd or awd. Spark plugs should be same.
I believe those are coil packs not distributors + what is the spark plug gap?
Yes. Coil packs more commonly named. I didnt know what to call it at the time. I guess distributor is its cousin. It's close enough.
Spark plug gap? What do you mean?
@@AutomotiveForBeginners gap is simply that, the distance between the ground electrode and the center electrode ie the pointy tip and the bent curved metal piece. It has a specific distance in thousands it must be.
@@psehunter3525 Dude. I didn't know you were trying to quiz me. I already knew that.
@@AutomotiveForBeginners sorry I thought you asked . Disregard 👍
Many plugs are pre-gapped; I think these are .44"
You need a vid of you washing this engine
You dont need to wash an engine to change spark plugs.
So I got a P200A error code on my 2011 Kia Sorento EX V6 saying "Intake Manifold Runner Performance". KIA wants $2800 to fix it, including $2200 in parts ($133 for 12 o-rings?!!). Luckily on the estimate they gave parts numbers and I've been able to find everything on their list for $650 via Amazon and local parts stores (3rd party upgraded OE-replacement lower manifold & VCM made by Dorman).
It looks like the repair involves everything in this video plus removing the lower intake manifold as well. Have you ever had to go that deep? Anything I should look out for? Thx
czcams.com/video/zB8LIUjREAE/video.html
This video will cover removing lower intake.
Damm bro were do you live😮😮 That engine is dirty asf😅😅
I live where engine oil needs more air to breathe
I dropped the 14mm bolt and it didn’t land on the ground… fml 😂😂😂
Oh yeah. There is one 14 mm bolt in the back.
As long as you dont drop that into the engine manifold you should be fine.
It's usually easier to find bolts outside the engine housing. Might make you pace everywhere but its only costs you fatigue. :)
@@AutomotiveForBeginners Thanks for the replies dude! I used your video to help me do a compression test . Unfortunately, I have a misfire now after putting it back together. Still working on diagnosing it.
@@OliveSauce100 No worries. I'm glad it helped!
Not sure what could be the issue. Another place to look would be pressure sensor. But I'm sure you got this!
@@AutomotiveForBeginners I did clip the sensors on the filter box and manifold back, but I still have a P2228 code for low pressure sensor voltage. I also discovered quite a bit of oil in the manifold but don’t see how it would be a problem now vs.. before. Oh well, I might have to bring this one to my guy 😂. Knowledge for the compression is priceless though! Do you accept donations?
Those are coil packs not distributors.
nice
@@AutomotiveForBeginners sorry wasn't being an ass lol. Just wanted you to know the proper terminology. 😁
*EDIT* 03:59 When reinstalling new spark plugs, disregard turning 1/2 as mentioned in this video. Turn only 1/4 turn to clamp spark plugs down. **
