    Thank you for reviewing this engine from the perspective of the average truck buyer. Regardless of what some of haters want to believe, the vast majority of people who buy a truck and use it for work don’t care about the sound. The only reason why they buy the v8 is because of horsepower. The fact that the ecoboost outsells the 5.0 v8 almost 2:1 pretty much proves that power and overall capability are far more important than just how good it sounds. Now in regards to the muscle car segment, that’s a totally different story.

    I really liked my Ecoboost. When I switched to RAM, I liked the V-8 but it wasn't as good as the Ecoboost IMO, so if the Hurricane is as good as they say, I think truck buyers won't miss the HEMI. Time will tell with this engine. I'm going to keep an eye on these Hurricanes for a couple of years and if they're reliable, I'll have no issue going to a Turbo V-6 when its time to trade in my RAM.

      I had an Ecoboost F150 and it wasn't bad..... good low end torque although I experienced multiple engine problems. I much prefer the HEMI due to the smooth power delivery and excellent sound. Remember less moving parts = greater reliability.

    Let's see a French run company slowly shutting down dodge. We are watching the end of a once interesting company. Just retired from the auto service business and you better get the extended warranty or lease it. In about 80 to 120k miles you will be replacing turbos, which will probably cost you around six thousand bucks on average. Just remember you have to pull the cab on the new Tundra to access the turbos which is insane and you have to do an engine out to service the timing etc. on this wanna be BMW style engine, I believe. Nothing like compliant government garbage engines.

    • @onthethrottle7104
      @onthethrottle7104 Před 5 měsíci +1

      I used to be a big V8 lover too. I took my HEMI SRT to the strip and I was surprised on how many V6 and inline 6 engines dominated the scene. These straight 6 engines are no joke and they don't pull themselves apart like a V8 does.

    • @roddycreswell8613
      @roddycreswell8613 Před 5 měsíci

      @@onthethrottle7104 I'm happy for you. An engine is an air pump, more volume, more power. Use the same induction tuned to that motor and more cubes make more power unless it's just a poorly designed engine. Which are there in all configurations.

    • @onthethrottle7104
      @onthethrottle7104 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@roddycreswell8613 Well you forgot about efficiency, the more volume of air that comes in and out at the most efficient pace is the winner. Weight is another factor. The V8 is super heavy, the aluminum straight 6 is very light. I'm still a huge V8 fan but these six cylinder engines can outpace them dollar for dollar. Also, most people drive slow and at a normal speed, you don't need a huge V8 for 95% of your driving. For the other 5% where you want to go fast or tow something the straight 6 is going to do the job perfectly. However, the V8 is going to be heavier and suck more gas around town for now good reason.

      @@onthethrottle7104 good for you. You can badmouth V8s as much as you want. Just remember, that's all your doing is badmouthing something for whatever reason.
