2025 Ram 1500 Review: The Hemi Is Dead, But You’re Gonna Be OK

  • OK, everyone calm down. Yes it’s true: Another V-8 has bitten the dust. The Hemi V-8 is dead and the new 2025 Ram 1500 full-size pickup truck uses only six-cylinder engines - but what glorious six-cylinder engines they are. The new Hurricane twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder units are extraordinary and available in two outputs, both handily outgunning not only the old Hemi engines, but most competitor V-6 and V-8 engines, as well. That’s good news on the pickup front, but for 2025, Ram has additional changes to the popular pickup to make it even more luxurious (there’s an expensive new range-topping Tungsten variant), capable (autonomous driving features) and stylish.
Of course, it’s more expensive, too - about $2,500 on average across the board, depending on trim level. But you get new standard equipment, new powertrains, new interior materials … and we think the changes justify the price bump.
Cars.com Detroit Bureau Chief Aaron Bragman got to drive the new 2025 Ram 1500 through the Hill Country around Austin, Texas, on the highway, through town, over the fields and dragging a 26-foot Airstream camper to see just how much the new powertrains change the nature and feel of the latest Ram pickup. He came away mightily impressed with both the new engines and the new Tungsten trim. What do you think about it? Leave your opinions in the comments below.

Wined up windows, standard seats, standard transmission and 4x4. We don't need all this other tech. We just need a great truck! One like the old days., where you could improve your truck by yourself. Or just keep it stock. Get with it guys!
