From Broken to Re-awoken! CYCLING EUROPE's LONGEST CLIMB 70 Days After Bad Accident (45km +2200m)
Vložit
- čas přidán 20. 08. 2022
- I'm still recovering from my fractured spine and wearing the back brace, but grateful to be making good progress. In today's video we show my one and only ride outside for the summer, ascending Europe's longest climb (45km and +2200m) whilst on holiday with my family in Tenerife. Starting at our hotel on the Adeje coast, and shepherded by Alberto and Cecelia from Cycling in Tenerife, and with Jayne on an e-bike, we ascend to the town of Chio and then from Chio to the top of Teide by road (and descend in Alberto's bus - my favourite kind of descent LoL!!).
The roads are wide, smooth, quiet and safe, with either cycling lanes or excellent visibility and plenty of width to make it easy for motorists to pass. As such I felt this would be a unique opportunity for my first ride outside since May, in order to put into practice all of the recovery training over the preceding 8 weeks, to see if I would be able to ride to my maximum endurance pace, my Lactate Threshold 1, which I had estimated to be 200W / 3.25W/kg
Massive thanks to Cycling in Tenerife for all of the friendly and professional assistance

I don't know if I'm more inspired.... or discouraged by the fact that he makes it look so easy after what he's gone through! Looking up aero benefits of back braces right away!
Cheers Patrick 🙏 Thats beyond kind of you to say so Sir! I can report that everyone will soon be wearing the back brace for the speed gainzzzzzz 🤣
Heart warming to see this Phill and no better place for a convalescence session than Teide. Heading up above the clouds into the sunshine using nothing but muscle power and inspirational dedication accompanied by friends and family is perfect for the mind, soul and body 💪👍 J.
Thanks ever so much, Jim - that’s really lovely of you to say so 🙏. And absolutely I couldn’t agree more, Teide is one of the most beautiful and uplifting mountains in Europe - right up there with Galibier for me. And to share the experience with Jayne and be guided up by Alberto and Cecelia was really special👌. Hope all is well 👍
My dear friend Phil, and my sister Jane. Congratulations my friends. Dear mate, Phil, I'm so glad you started your hill climbing training. You look very good on the climb, Phil. Perfect. Also dear Jane, thank you very much for your camera support. You are also very good at E-bike rides :)) Ride on Jane. By the way, thank you very much to your friend and wife who supported you. The volcano view was perfect, man. Road quality is also excellent. It was a great day for biking, Phil. Thank you both for making such quality videos for us. I think the video is full hd or 4k. Everything is great. And it's good to see you so happy, my friend. See you in new videos. Have fun. See you dear Lovett family.
From Sister Jayne and I - thanks ever so much Atakan 🙏 Your encouragement and support means a huge amount to us 💯. It was indeed the perfect mountain for my first ride back - and highly recommended if you get the chance. The ebike is the perfect way to share the supreme beauty and thrill of exploring on the bike with friends and family who don’t ride much, and Jayne has mastered it 💯. Have a lovely sunny weekend - and enjoy your own cycling and running ! Best Phill and Jayne
Heeyyyy. Look who is back. Great to see you in action again Phil!
Ha ha Gerben - back out for just one day only - but hopefully plenty more in the Autumn 👌 Thanks ever so much for your positively and encouragement 🙏💯
Yes!! So glad to see you outside!!
That’s really lovely of you to say so Shelley 🙏 - and for sure it was sensational to be back outside, even if just for one day only 😊💯
You know Phil, once I was cycling up the mountains near Barcelona on a hot day. I was going at the speed on dripping molasses and eventually made it to the top. During my descent, I passed a one-legged cyclist coming up the same hill, much faster than I was going. I was thankful, for my psyche, I had already started down. I’m so happy to see you back on the bike, but for my psyche if I ever see you on the road, may it be the opposite way!
🤣 Love your story Earl ! Of all the people to see a one legged cyclist is right right up there!! I’ll bet that individual was as physically and mentally strong as an ox - and could out-climb most of us ! 😅
Getting back on the bike after injury is a truly exhilarating experience. One that mimicks the first time ever riding a bike because of the fear involved.
Thanks A G 🙏 - and you put it very eloquently 💯. I was nervous and excited before the ride, and then uplifted and exhilarated during - rediscovering the joy of the climb and the vistas🤩, and also very focussed on the need to stay upright 😅 Was sensational - and not back inside for a few more weeks until the back brace is off 🤞
Really pleased youre back in the saddle Phil…. Inspiiration for us all!!👍👍👍👍
Thanks ever so much Raymond 🙏 - that’s massively kind of you 💯 Was incredible to be back outside, and I’ve been out a few times since. Slowly improving 🤞
Phil you are indeed a true cyclist, tackling that climb wearing the exoskeleton, inspires me to ride!👊👊👊
That’s ever so much Larry 🙏 - that’s exceptionally kind of you to say so 💯. It was a lovely experience to be able to have my first ride back on such a beautiful mountain and share it with Jayne 👌- and for sure get out and ride - and enjoy the moment 💯💪 Stay safe
Legend 👏
Cheers Mike 🙏💯 - too too kind sir 😊👍
Fantastic, so glad to see you outside and on the bike again slow n easy
Cheers David 🙏 - was amazing to be back outside - and for sure, steady away 💯😊
Amazing work to get back outside ... I'm not sure the Mrs. was thrilled with this outdoor adventure 😜 but as you demonstrated and Albert Einstein once said, "Life is like riding a bicycle, in order to keep your balance you must keep moving [forward]." Well done!!!
Thanks Stanislao 🙏was indeed sensational to be back out and on the climb for the day 💯. And as you say Jayne took a bit of convincing, but was good with it in the end when she saw just how wide and quiet the roads were! And for sure - moving forward was the only option that day - no stopping or worse still u-turning !! 🤣👍
So good to see you back outdoors Phill. Excellent work mate.
Cheers David 🙏 you’re a gent ! And so jealous of all your rides with the Titans in the Peaks this summer … wish I could be there this Friday… getting dropped 🙏
Chapeau from Australia… courageous and inspiring.
Thanks ever so much Paul 🙏 for such a wonderful and generous message of support 💯. Really motivating - and for sure hoping to crack on with the recovery indoors now 🤞
Wonderful to see you back on the bike and so glad to see you enjoying the outdoors again!
Thanks ever so much Timothy 🙏 - that’s very kind of you to say so! It was indeed incredible to be back outside - even if just for one day 👌
Holding that power at altitude too, we'll done!
Cheers ted n ruth 🙏 - and as you say the extra altitude does make a difference in the final 10km or so 😅
Sweet Jesus Phil , what a cycle . Can’t believe you completed that challenge & then to top it all 50/50 L/R balance . I’m gobsmacked 😶. Fair play to yea
Cheers Sean 🙏 you’re a Gent for saying all that! Much appreciated. And yep - I was properly chuffed with the 50:50 L:R balance 😅. I’ve spent a lot of time building it back to that using the WattBike data. It was incredible to be back outside - even if just for one day 👌
So uplifting to see this Phill, testament to your own determination and patience with your recovery. And how brilliant to have Jayne and the team support you too, what a great group. Lovely to see them getting the appreciation they deserve for that support as well.
Cheers Nick 🙏 thats massively kind of you to say so 💯 Was sensational to be back out on the climb - and share it with a tentative Jayne 😅 But it was the perfect place for a ride where I couldn’t afford an accident. And as for you this weekend - thats on another level - the hardest 100km in the UK followed by another very very tough 120km for good measure! One day I hope to give that a proper shot with you! Powered by the carbs from Disney ! Hope you and Rhiannon had a good time 👍
We had a great holiday thank you, loads of fun and very relaxing. Rhiannon once again watched with me, she was saying how happy she was to see that you were sensible but not deterred by your accident and instead driven to get back on it! All in all sounds like the perfect opportunity as you say, the closest you'll get to a safe test track to have a go on.
That's really kind of you to say, it was definitely the hardest ride I've ever done but inherently manageable once I'd overcome the mental battles. 5w/kg up the initial 5-10 minutes of both Cowlyd and Cwm Eigiau just to feel like I was getting anywhere up those steep slopes was cruel though, I really suffered after that 🥵
Good work getting back to it!
Cheers Malcolm 🙏 - gradually getting back 😊. Loved riding out for one day only - and now back inside for Aug and Sept but hope to be out in the Autumn 🤞
A beautiful looking ride Phill and super strong one too 👏 I'm sure that ice cream tasted good, though I'd be after an extra scoop or two 🍨
Thanks ever so much Craig 🙏 - was a really lovely day out, on a beautiful and forgiving climb 👌- and yep the ice cream at that little shop was always incredible. Jayne and I very much hope you are well on the way to recovering from your own injuries 🤞
So happy to see you back on your bike! Truly heartwarming!
Thanks ever so much Carlo🙏. As ever that’s massively appreciated and very kind of you ! It was really special to be back outside - and sharing it with Jayne - even if just for one day 👌
Lovely to see you outdoors again Phill! Hope all is well with you and Jane.
Thanks ever so much Mieke 🙏 - that’s lovely of you💯. Was sensational to be back outside even if only for one day 👌 - and hope to be back out again in the Autumn 🤞
Great to see your slowly recovering Phil and back on the bike. Take care phil
Cheers Ian 🙏 - slow and steady, for sure ! But amazing to be back outside for the day 👌. Back indoors now, and hopefully the brace will be off in about 1 month 🤞
Great to see your progress. Onward.
Thanks ever so much Rod 🙏 Onwards indeed 🤞 It felt incredible to be back out, even for just one day ! 💯😊
Great to see you pedalling in the real world again Phill - chapeau for choosing a little hill to start with 🤣
Cheers Nick 🙏 - that’s lovely of you to say so ! And yep - the opportunity to climb a ‘little’ hill first time out, was too good to miss 🤣
Im happy to invite you on a holiday if I can drive up the climbs and then let you drive back down while I ride 🤣🤣 So happy to see you back riding some epic roads
🤣🤣 Ezequiel - that’s a holiday I’ll take you up on!! And thanks ever so much for your very kind support 🙏
So good to see you again Sir. Welcome back both. M.
Thanks ever so much Martin 🙏 thats hugely appreciated, and it felt great to be back on the climb and with Jayne 💯 Hope all good !
Well done mate. Grit and determination gets you every where. Greetings from Kingaroy QLD Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks ever so much Rob 🙏 - and agreed that’s what I tell my kids (now young adults) - you gotta keep grinding and things get better 💯 Greetings back to Aus from the Pom !
Well done Phil!!!! Very happy to see this!!!
Thanks ever so much Chris 🙏 - that’s hugely appreciated ! Was sensational to be back outside 👌
Great too see Phil. Emotionally incredible and can only imagine how you feel. Keep on keeping on. Stay strong. Live stronger. X Pete.
Thanks ever so much Pete 🙏. And I hope you and the family are keeping well. Was indeed sensational to be back out on the bike for the day. Was nervous and excited before hand and then exhilarated and loving the experience during - and very thankful, relieved and a bit emotional to crest Teide with Jayne 💯👍. Back inside training again - but hoping to get back outside before the end of September 🤞
Amazing. What a comeback. Remember stay safe. 😊
Thanks ever so much Alex 🙏 - that’s hugely appreciated 💯. And whilst it was amazing to be back outside and on the climb - was only for the day, and now back indoors for more recovery training 👍
Great to see you getting back to your best Phil.
Thanks ever so much Angus 🙏 - that’s really lovely of you to say so 💯. And for sure was sensational to be back out for the day - and felt incredible. Back inside for a while - hoping to get the recovery to a point where the back brace can come off soon 👍
Great to see you back Phil 👏
Thanks ever so much Lee 🙏 - was incredible to be back outside - even if just for one day 👌
Fantastic to see you back outside on the bike Phill even if it is just only gonna be once this year. Keep the recovery going mate & I’m certain you will be smashing some goals in 2023. Would love there to be some kind of Backpedal meetup next year that you could drop me on 😂 Keep working away at it, slow & steady. Looking forward to seeing your progress 🙌🏻
Cheers Ian 🙏 really appreciate you reaching out. And for sure was a sensational climb for my one and only this summer 🤩. Hoping to be back out in the Autumn - if all goes well 🤞. And for sure will be amazing to have a Backpedal meet up in ‘23 - not sure I’ll drop you though !!
Wishing you all the best on the journey to 100% Phil. You are an inspiration. Cheers!
Thanks ever so much Bruno 🙏 thats extremely kind and generous of you to say so 💯 It was sensational to be back outside - even if just for the day, and hoping to continue to progress 🤞
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy we take a lot for granted. Sometimes it's good to go through a process like this to value everything even more. Enjoy the progress and be safe! 🙂
Never...............STOP.................RIDING!!!!
💯 That Guy 💯 - NEVER !!
Welcome back Phil … 🙌💯… great to see you are making progress 🙃👏.. such a positive inspiration you are … 🙃👍 kudos to you 🍀🙃
Thanks ever so much for your kind and generous support Alika 🙏 - it’s really uplifting and motivating for me 💯. It was amazing to be back outside and on the climb - even if just for one day, now back indoors for more recovery training 👍
Awesome Phil 😊🙃😊
I have a question for you.
My partner and I were watching your inspirational video .. we did notice that you were spending quite a lot of time pushing your sunglasses 😎 back up ? Not sure if you have noticed ? But you are taking your hands off the handlebars to adjust them … 🙌🙃😊😎… just thought it was worth a mention … keep up the great work 💯🙌🙏🙃
A joy to see you happy and outside in the saddle again Phill... As awesome as ever...
Thats really lovely of you to say so Dazza 🙏 - and hugely appreciated 💯 I’m really lucky to have been able to ride out on Tiede for the day, and had a massive smile on my face for days after😊. The indoor recovery and fitness rebuild is now back on - and fingers crossed I’ll be able to get the back brace off in a month or so🤞
Back in the saddle, what an amazing sight to see. Your motivation continues and it's extremely motivating.
Your proof of what the human body is capable of and how much the mind can conquer.
Cheers to you Phil !
Great news to see you out on the bike again, massive inspiration to all of us watching your progress after the awful crash and congratulations on passing 10,000 subscribers 👏👏👏👌
Thanks ever so much for your super positive and motivating support on both fronts, Paul 🙏. Means a lot to me 💯. Loved being back out on the bike for the day, and hoping to get back outside in late September once the back brace is off 🤞. And agreed am very thankful for all the subscribers 💯
So happy to see your progression Phil, the crash you had would've been the end of cycling for most people.👍
Thanks ever so much Dave - that’s very kind of you 🙏. And for certain, the ability to cycle indoors has helped my physical and mental recovery 💯 - good days and bad, but worth it to experience being back outside and on the climb - even if just for 1 day 👍
Lovely to see you back Phil….
Cheers Tim 🙏 - that’s massively appreciated . Was sensational to be back outside on the bike - even if just for the day 💯
Wonderful to see you back. An inspiration.
Thanks Fraser 🙏 that’s hugely appreciated, and very generous of you to say so 💯. Thanks as amazing to be back on the climb for the day !
the numbers man is back!!!, a sweet conquer of the mountain, more than cycling, its life. don't forget the psychological importance of the descent. good luck keep enjoying the bike.
Cheers Marcus 🙏 - and for sure I stuck to my number like glue for that climb 😊 As you say, Cycling is Life - an affirmation of well-being fusing beauty and physical endeavour 👌💪. I’ll be back to the descents once the back brace is off - as you say part of the virtuous cycle of our passion 💯🤩
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy hear! hear!, if I was in the UK, I'd really like to get you off road gravel etc, I know you injury was a freak accident, however I can't understate the Jedi like skills off roading can bring to road cycling and it may future proof you from another calamity. Keep up the great work mate.
What a great sight to see.. A great step forward, and a great setting to kick off the IRL riding again. Onwards and upwards Phil.
Cheers Lee! 🙏 Onwards and upwards for sure 🤞 - was sensational to be back outside even for one day only. Hoping the back brace will be off in 1month, and able to do a bit more 💯
So good to see you back on the bike.

@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy Ha ha ha i should have my own gallery ha ha ha That you Phil for showing everyone how strong someone can be
Gona be flying when the extra kilos of exoskeleton comes off.great effort well done and good to have you back💪🚴♂️😎
Hopefully I’ll have some decent pace, Rob 🤞 - but only uphill. I think it will take a long time to rebuild confidence on the flat and descent (albeit my descending was always poor 😅). Thanks ever so much for your very kind encouragement 🙏 - it’s hugely appreciated 💯
Good to see you back on two wheels
Thanks ever so much Leslie 🙏 - thats really lovely of you to say so 💯 It was amazing to be back out, even for just one day ! 💯😊
Brilliant Ride Phil. Heartening!

Beautiful sceneries to go on your last outdoor summer ride! Hopefully you can get back to a bit of fitness and enjoyment in the winter season!
Cheers Ian 🙏 - I see you’ve been taking in plenty of beautiful scenery over the summer also 🤩. Was amazing to be back out - and hope my brace will be off in the next 4 weeks or so! See you soon 👍
Well done Phil can imagine that was quite an emotional ride
Hi JK - and thanks ever so much🙏. Yes very nervous before hand - but loved the ride, and felt very grateful and elated on the ascent and then creating Teide 👌
Very inspirational to see you back on the saddle tackling long climbs again Phil! Your old power will return before you know it! I do miss your Wilier 0 SLR though.
Thanks ever so much Hai 🙏 - that’s very kind and generous of you to say so, and super motivating for me. Was incredible to be back out on the climb for the day. I used a hired bike, because although my Wilier wasn’t scratched in the crash, the fork and handlebars were confirmed to have a stress fracture when I sent the bike for a carbon scan. So waiting for the replacement parts 👍. You’ll see the Wilier again 💯
Great to see you back at it Phil and I pray your recovery continues on its current trajectory 👊🏾✊🏾👏🏾
Thanks ever so much Paul 🙏 it felt incredible to be back outside -even if for one day only ! And I hugely appreciate your support and kind prayers 💯 - am incredibly grateful 👍
Fantastic to see you back on the bike Phil
Thanks ever so much Dan 🙏 - was an amazing day - one to savour, and hope to be back outside again at the end of September once the back brace is off 🤞
Fantastic video, delighted to see you back on your bike. I was in Gran Canaria at this time admiring the sunset over Mt Teidi …beautiful sight
Thanks ever so much Noel 💯 - we really appreciate you saying that! Teide is indeed sublime - and I’m told Gran Canaria is beautiful too! 🤩
Great to see you back out on the bike and smiling 👊👊👊
Cheers Adam 🙏 I had a massive smile on my face all day and for quite a few after ! It was sensational to be back out, even for just one day ! 💯 - but now back to the indoor recovery training 🤞 Hope you had a good weekend on the new MTB in the sun 👍
Amazing recovery Phil. Well done. You’ve come along way in a short time. Keep up the good work.
Cheers Ian 🙏 - that’s much appreciated. I’ve enjoyed the process of gradually rebuilding fitness during the recovery - and kept things simple which I think helps gauge progression. Hoping to continue the process indoors over the coming weeks 🤞
Phil you are amazing my friend. Your injuries being enough for anyone to call it a day and throw in the towel. Yet Sir, not you. Oh no, talk of bouncing back.
Your courage and determination are an inspiration to anyone.
I applaud you Phil.
Chapeau to you my friend.

Superb Phil, must do that climb one day. Well done Sir 🚴💪👍🙂
Thanks ever so much Chris 🙏 - was sensational to be back out for the day 💯. And without doubt I love Tenerife - you’ll see from my videos in February that there are some amazing routes upto Tiede - but this is my favourite. The Masca region is also sublime - highly recommended 👍
Amazing effort Phil and brilliant to see u back in the saddle outdoors again. Keep up the great work on the recovery Phil,ur smashing it. And now I need to add that climb to my bucket list, looks a beauty. 👍👍
Thanks ever so much Paul 🙏 - hugely appreciated 💯. And for sure was an incredible climb for my first ride back out, and I’d massively recommend a trip to Tenerife for Tiede fro Chio, Granadilla and also cycling Masca - absolute bucket list climbs 🤩💯
Good to see you back and riding and your determination as well ! Ride safe and stay safe 👍🏼💪🏻🚴🏻🍻
Cheers Strong 🙏- that’s very good and generous of you to say so 💯. And for sure a case of getting back going and grinding out the recovery to better times ! Back inside now for more recovery training 👍
You are truly legendary. You are showing what dedication and smart recovery can do. Well done and may the wind be at your back Phil!!!
That’s extremely generous and motivating of you to say so Richard 💯🙏 I’m really grateful - and also lucky to enjoy the process of training and making gradual improvements - so was a real pleasure to work towards the climb of Teide 👍.
Massive fist 🤛🏻 pumps to you phil. If this isn’t inspiring to people then I’m not sure what it. That’s is massive and congrats on the recovery up to now. Look forward to the next one.
Cheers Adam 🙏 - that’s massively appreciated and extremely generous of you and motivating for me 💯. Was indeed incredible to be back out and on the climb for the day 👌 - and all being well hoping to get a ride or two more in over the Autumn 🤞
Great progress Phil! I hope you and Jayne enjoyed your time in Tenerife.

Thanks ever so much for checking it out Richard 🙏 Was sensational to be back out and on the climb 👌 - and hoping to get back outside again before the Autumn is over 🤞
Very cool, great to see you back outside on the bike & making great progress. My fav climb too 👌
Cheers Tony! And its thanks to you I was able to climb Tiede 🙏✊ Yep - I love it too, right up there with Galibier from La Grave or Wrynose Pass
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy one day you need to try the back side of Tiede too. "backbone of Tiede" some lovely views that way up also. Past the Observatory.
Great to see you back on the bike and enjoying it. I missed you by a day! I always ride from Guia de Isora. I much prefer that climb than from Arona. Better views for sure. We stay in Callao Salvaje which is the next village along from Paraiso.
Cheers Chris 🙏 that’s hugely appreciated - and hope you had an amazing time in Tenerife 💯. I love climbing Teide from all routes and for sure the views back down are lovely from the Arona side 🤩. But it’s a busier road and I was needing safety - and also on the ascent I love seeing more volcanic activity and sightings of Teide and the other volcanos / craters 🤩
I can see those back braces coming into the pro peloton with how well you stored those gels in there 😁 Great to see you looking a lot more comfortable Phil
Onwards and upwards 👊
🤣 Michael ! Yep - the braces are UCI approved and soon will be chic in the pro peleton 🤣 I too though it was a perfect place to store a gel (given I couldn’t get to my jersey rear pockets) - but believe it or not it fell out at 10km !! And as always thanks ever so much for your support 🙏
I was waiting for this since the CP show leak 😄 Glad to see you back on the bike. Stunning views, congrats to the editor, you rock 😉
Thanks ever so much Pierre-Alain 🙏 - always wonderful to hear from you 👌. This was indeed a one off opportunity for a safe and exceptionally beautiful ride outside - I’d highly recommend - one of my favourites for sure. Right up there with Galibier from La Grave. And Masca in Tenerife is also very very beautiful - jaw dropping 🤩. It was also incredible to share the experience with Jayne on the ebike. And as it happens I can take the credit for the edit on this one !! 😅. Hope all is well
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy oh then nice edit Phill ! I wondered how she could let pass the "here's his beautiful wife Cecilia, and here's my rock Jayne" 😂 I loved the Hitchcock (dolly) zoom at 10:00 😁 all is going well here, and I'm happy to see you recovering so fast ✊🏻
Hi Phil, we’ve just returned from a family holiday at the H10 Atlantic sunset, Tenerife, on our first full day there I could have sworn I’d seen you walking through reception early in the morning, Sat 13th, as we headed out for a run. Then looked out for you to say hello but never saw you again, and assumed I’d been mistaken but assume from the video that it was indeed the famous Phil Lovett I’d seen!
Hi Simon! Hope you had a good time on the Island! I was indeed there on the 13th Aug, but unfortunately was likely checking out / getting a temporary room for a few hours before leaving . It’s a lovely hotel isn’t it ! Did you manage a ride whilst away?
Yeah it was a lovely place, a nice relaxing week. Unfortunately no biking as strictly a family holiday this time but traded off against a cycling week in Mallorca in early October so looking forward to that. Really enjoy the videos and the journey and glad to see you back on the bike.
Absolutely Amazing Phil. Your so dedicated and inspiring to regain your fitness. Once you get rid of that back brace there be no stopping you . Happy Cycling Buddy. 😍
Thanks ever so much Paul 🙏 - thats massively appreciated and very generous of you to say so, Sir! 💯 Was really good to see the fitness rebuilt indoors translate outside to enable an enjoyable ride and being able to take in the vistas and the geology 👌. Hopefully the brace will be off in the next month 🤞 Happy cycling to you too 👍
Nice one Phil, such a positive attitude, good man!
Thanks ever so much Lee - that’s hugely appreciated 🙏. I’ve enjoyed the process of gradually rebuilding - and this was them a really uplifting day 👍

Thanks ever so much TC 🙏 - was a fantastic day out 💯. And was lucky Albert was able to accompany me, because he’d only just finished his 2months offseason, so wasn’t at his usual fitness 😅
Nice to see you getting back there Phil.
Thanks ever so much Geoff 🙏 - it had been a slow and steady process upto the Tenerife trip - and a few steps backwards after. Still in the back brace - but wearing it I was able to ride the Haute Route Switzerland and enjoy the last of the good Autumn weather and beautiful scenery. Still a long way to go though 👍
Lovely to see you back out on the bike Phil. Amazing (and rapid!) recovery too jumping straight into Teide! Hope the recovery continues to progress well 🙂
Thanks ever so much Sofian, that’s lovely of you 🙏. And for sure it was amazing to be out for just one day on the climb 👌 - and now back to focussing on the recovery training indoors 🤞

Cheers Thomas 🙏 thats really kind of you and very much appreciated 💯 Was sensational to be back out on the climb for the day, and yep, Jayne indeed took a bit of persuading 😅 - but was ok given the cycle paths and then the quiet road 👍
Fantastic to see you back outside on the bike. You can see it's really raised your spirit. Nothing beats riding again after an injury. Wishing you a speedy full recovery and more videos 👍🏻

Great to see you back out on the bike Phill, albeit for just the one ride. Smashing it like the T1000 from the terminator 😁 It must have felt magically getting out after all that you’ve been through, and what a place to do it. As alway all the best to Jayne and yourself Phill, take care.
Cheers Tony 🙏 and yep! For one day only (at least for another month until the back brace comes off 🤞. It felt sensational to be back out, and was the perfect climb (smooth tarmac, no traffic and even gradients). And magical just to be on the climb, and very special to crest it with Jayne 💯 Back to the indoor rebuild now, until the back brace is off (hopefully in a month). Hope you and the family are well - and lets also hope Ukraine continue to make progress 🍀

Your quite an inspiration Phil after such a heavy crash last year i came off hitting diesel on the road at speed breaking my ribs and unconscious . I had been riding for over 40 years but psychologically my confidence had gone and took a good 6 months to get back thats why i commend you on such amazing resilience.
Beautiful video. So good to watch you back on the bike. Top effort! Top editing.
We really appreciate you saying that about the video and the edit, Agnes 🙏 - was indeed a beautiful ride in a wonderful part of the world, and a long old edit 💯 The perfect climb for you to practice in your cleats - an even gradient and beautiful tarmac!
