Had to put down my cat today, she was my friend for 16 yrs. Been sobbing all day and I'm a 48 yr old grown up man! This brought back some cheer in me, thanks!
Awesome video again Katie. I went bikepacking in Tenerife last year and camped out at the summit of Teide (as high as you can get on the road anyway) Bloody freezing! Keep up the great videos :)
Headed to Tenerife with my wife and another couple this Saturday for the first time for a weeklong bike tour and we’re incredibly excited! Been watching all of your Tenerife videos and they’re truly fantastic, and thank you for the tip about bringing lights! I didn’t expect to need them given the pictures of Teide.
Lovely to see you riding in my back yard. I live in Tenerife and ride some of those roads everyday. At 74 years old I struggle now to do the full uphill stretches and usually curtail my rides at Vilaflor going up via Granadilla and back via Arona, but I can ride everyday staying at coast level or just above. I’m really glad you came to Tenerife and sincerely hope you had a wonderful time.
Tenerife is perfect for a family holiday and a cycling adventure. There are quite a few bike shops that rent bikes (I used Bike Point at the foot of the climb) so as long as you can persuade someone to take the kids for five hours (okay, I was away for eight!) then it's perfect.
We just returned from Tenerife and may have actually crossed paths on one day based on Strava data. Gorgeous country, friendly people, respectful drivers. We stayed in Playa San Juan in a beautiful home. Favourite cycling vacation after Mallorca.
Nice nice, in 2021 I climbed Mt Haleakala in Maui 3300m of elevation in one shot ,was hard to be honnest at 61 yo, yet seeing you climbing Tenerife highest mountain I want to think that it is not over for me and that I can still enjoy the thrill of the physical effort of these monster climbs. I am still recovering from a massive blood clot and pulmonary emboli that fell on me in 2022, but could do long climb again in 2023 minus that it is much harder than before . Cycling can maintain you in top shape but makes you feel older quicker as you can notice the effect of ageing more acutely through these extreme efforts that at some point you cannot do anymore well before the very old age. So my advise : enjoy it to the fullest as you are still young ...
I love watching your videos. Your enthusiasm is so infectious and nothing but smiles. You have some great opportunities and living the life you have worked hard for 👌🏻
So glad to see the warm weather. I've only started road cycling in the last few months while rehabbing from a bad knee. (I'd typically be off-piste asking this time of year, but I had to give that up), I'm off on my first adventure to cycle Tenerife in a few weeks. I hope all the training I've been doing on Zwift will have me fit enough to enjoy the climbs. Great video.
Make us jealous why don't you Katie😉You don't need to justify your holidays, you work damn hard and deserve it! I have a 100 mile ride planned for tomorrow, temp high will be a balmy 5C❄Its Scotland, not Tenerife😂
Chapeau Katie. Have ridden up Teide a couple of times & really struggled over 1800m. Your time is so good, so impressive on that relentless but beautiful climb.
Love your free spirit your lucky to be the way you are, enjoy living that’s what life is about ❤️
So this is where the California sun went to. Glad you got some warm weather and some of those crazy views that you enjoy. Glad the ride went well. Good on you for expanding your horizons and different rides.
Buying holidays is brilliant…live your best life
Happy bunny, sat on the floor drinking juice in the sun. Nice to see, wish I was out there. I did teide back when I was fitter, it’s an hell of an effort, made my ears pop, but the descent was great. Enjoy it Katie, it’s cold back home.
Class as always what an inspiration to cyclists and good people worldwide hugs 🤗
That mountain is gorgeous...what a great video!
Minus eight degrees Celsius when I went over the top of tiede in January 2019, wasn’t in bib shorts and short sleeves then! Nice one.
Wow Katie, I am so jealous. It seems bizarre that you have to, sort of, justify what you do to bring us so much joy, pleasure and smiles. We all have our lifestyle that we commit to and chapeau to you for your choice and commitment, we're all a tad jealous and grateful for what you bring us. Thank you. I also seem to remember you cursing and almost crying at how tough it was the last time you were there, and suggesting you would never go back, (or was that somewhere else?) but brilliant. Keep doing YOUR thing cos we love it and you've worked hard to deserve it. Mucho kudos 🤩
Nice to see somebody can manage to go holiday so often. We others just keep working.
