I love your tips. I lost ~40lb (18kg) in the past 10 month of cycling. I ride for fun, but the speed is one of the thrills, of course with my age and unfit past does not permit me to join Tour de France, but that was never the goal 😃. I love to eat natural food before and on the bike (on rides over 50km). Oatmeal with jam, bananas, dates, figs are so much better for you than gels. Hills and winds are scary, but for hills I already have a strategy. All you need to do is to pedal. You can always lower your gears and go easier, or even stop if needed and pretend to do a selfie or a video shot for your vlog 😂. Head winds on other hand still get me and they can be very frustrating. I also encountered bullies on the road and those can ruin your day and the fun ride. I do not know why people have to be cruel. But after coming home I compose myself and think, that most likely their life has to be very miserable to resort to shouting horrible things to people they never met and do not know. On other hand, I am super lucky, because I am on the bike! 🥰

This is funny ..did my first gravel bike pack ride a few weeks back on Dartmoor and headed up that same hill to Warren hill pub at end of the day..had Rabbit Pie in pub instead of cooking and wild camped half a mile away as couldn't face another hill.. glad to hear you said some was steep..great vid crofty

You barely tickled the edge of Dartmoor! "Next time", keep on after Haytor to Widecombe in the Moor and then follow to Two Bridges. Hang a right to Postbridge then on to Moretonhampstead. You'll see some proper open moorland then... and plenty of sheepies!

Yorkshire is more relaxing. Found Devon / Dartmoor lanes stressful with hedges etc. Living in West Yorkshire is ACE

Ah, the Dartmoor midges! My first wild camp there was quickly followed by the purchase of a head net - there were so many of them in my face that I couldn't function. The second wild camp was much better :D

Oreo cows at ~5' 50 These are scattered around hobby farms in my area of southern US. Your bivy looks like the kind of spot where you wake up a 4a for a wee and find 10 cows standing around marveling at this new development in their field.

That's more like it !!! I'm so glad you like the real Dartmoor, it's pretty special, isn't it ! - those rocks, by the way, the larger clumps at least and mainly on the tops of the hills , are called tors - there's about 160 of them on Dartmoor.
