Thanks for checking out our song and thanks for all the kind words! ❤
You guys are huge as it is, but this kind of coverage has really gotta get your blood flowing in all the right places.....
djake djbowen the djent djgod
wow you are blessed justin.
@@williamweaver8290 there is no such thing as djent
We love you guys! Give your doggo some lovins for us!
Whoa, it was really fun to watch you react to this!! Thanks for the kind words as well, very much appreciated!!
You're a true djentlemen misha, btw love your sepiks reprise
The fact musicians are sharing other musicians' music is brilliant. I wouldnt have heard of you guys had it not been for Justin doing this video, and now I'm a massive fan. I'm really picky about prog and metal but Jesus are you guys ever critical. Brilliant stuff.
Love what you guys do, long time fan!
You’re the best Misha! ❤️
Awesome to hear Jørgen Munkeby on Sax
Really appreciate the kind words, Justin! I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the song 🙏🏽
Love what you guys do long time fan!
You’re the best Mrak! ❤️
its about time u guys get some more recognition!
Can't wait for the album and your next UK tour
Your playthrough of the song on the PRS channel is bada$$!
Hope you guys release a transcription book for the album (or even a simple CZcams lesson or personal Tabs).
Well done on the song. It's a real headbanger en route to work (and while working!).
Perfect Justin. Grabs guitar. Downtunes a string to demonstrate. Doesn’t play string. Retunes before placing guitar back. ❤️
The cheeky face with the notes as well xD
One of these days, and no one will be entirely sure when, Justin is going to start playing that "rides again" theme tune but it won't stop after the first line. It'll continue into a second line, then a third, then there'll be a chorus and another verse, perhaps a musical interlude and it'll continue until he finishes singing the song. And it'll be the best thing we've ever heard.
I think he told Rick Beato that the intro was taken from a longer composition. . .
LOL. I hope I get the intro figured out by then.
Waiting for this day...
Comment this on every video and hopefully he will see it haha
@@SavageDiarrhea2447 Great insight. Justin’s two favorite bands are Queen, and AC/DC. He can sing like Freddie when he chooses!
The Dillinger Escape Plan has the best jazz breakdowns in hardcore. Absolute chaos then amazing jazz fills. Absolutely awesome.
And DEP weren't stuck in a grid either, which kept the Human element in their music also.
Seeing Justin react to Dillinger would make for one hell of a video ahaha
@@mickjager Fuck yeah it would. Sunshine the werewolf, gold teeth on a bum, so many amazing songs. Then you get one of us is a killer, symptom of a terminal illness, unretrofied, so many different styles mashed into their albums.
@@Mike-ol7xp amen! So many different influences and Ben and Greg are Golden Gods 😂 I want him react to their set on that awards show 🤘
@@korngopher333 So many great tracks, but I personally feel like Farwell, Mona Lisa is the best introduction, as it has a mixture of the heavy and the cleans, and lyrically it aligns really well with what the band is about.
As a Gen X-er, I really enjoy having my musical horizons broadened by your show. I recommended the Periphery video to my adult son after watching this episode, and discovered that he loves them and has seen them live! He was, however, rather shocked that I'd heard of them and he proceeded to tell his friends "You'll never believe what band my mom recommended to me.." Thanks to you I now have some serious metal cred amongst the twenty-somethings. Rock on!
I wish my mom liked my music 😂
I'd highly recommend their song 'Reptile' I genuinely consider it to be a masterpiece 👌
That’s nice
Truth
Probably my favorite song from them. It's incredible from start to finish
Ever heard of PAX,a Peruvian Prog Band I discovered,1970,got cool harmonies.
Legendary song, one I expect to stand the test of time
Fun fact, the sax is played by Jørgen Munkeby from Shining and Emperor
Both of their songs "Stranger Things" and "Reptile" are two of the most creative and progressive metal songs I have ever heard! Absolute must hear tracks, in my humble opinion. Please check them out, Justin!
oooof stranger things. One of my all time favorites.
its impossible for me to listen to periphery without a big smile on my face, one of the best concerts i've ever been in my life
@@buttsnorkeler9756actually one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.
Reptile is such a banger
Those are my two favorite ones!
When you jumped out of your chair and headphones came off, man I couldn't stop laughing. Great sense of humor. Really enjoy your channel 🤣👍👍
Been sat watching your videos all morning and I’m not even sad. Time well spent. Love your positivity and was so glad to see you’re reacting to so many great artists. Look forward to seeing you on a stage soon.❤
Wow lead singer is a mix of George Michael and Bono with extraordinary range didn’t expect a jazzy section thought it was advert! Lol 🔥
thought exactly the same, with a little bit of Dave Bautista thrown in for good measure!
Your reactions are some of my favorite reactions for metal on the youtubes. The way you tell stories throughout the reaction and breakdown different parts of the song on your acoustic. Just such a unique and a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of other channels out there. Love your stuff 😊🤘
Periphery are genuine pioneers of music. They blend genres so well, they use time sigs well without it being jarring. So happy you're reacting to this. Please react to these guys more x
Na, the pioneers were Dillinger Escape Plan, Between the Buried and Me, and so on. Periphery joined later in the game... they're great nevertheless
@@martinpaddle I mean, there can be a multitude of pioneers man
@@sunnyleatham When one band does something 10 years after another in a certain style, that's hardly what I would call pioneer. Of course it doesn't take away anything from them, but people used to know where things came from
Lead singer looks like the late and great George Michael
@@martinpaddle periphery were seriously influenced by sikth and you can clearly hear it.
This is so cool! Justin you have stumbled across some of the most brilliant, beautiful and underrated music currently out there. You have got some amazing listening to be had!
I absolutely love Periphery and Spencer Sotelo's voice. Periphery 3 and Hail Stan especially are incredible! No doubt Periphery 5 will be equally epic!
P3 is so underrated imo.
Not nearly enough love for Juggernaut out here.
You should react to their new video "Atropos", it is a WILD experience and paints a pretty good picture of what the band is about. Also, since you seem to enjoy genre-defying bands, try Twelve Foot Ninja next! Those guys are IN-SANE.
So glad they are now on your radar. They are incredible live. It's like listening to the album but with charisma
Fascinating watch, looking forward to more!
This was amazing. Thank you Justin and the CZcams algorithm!
Did not expect this but my day is made!!! Definitely check out more periphery! Spencer stoletto is an insane vocalist
This genre has never been my thing but I’ve found people are doing so many interesting things with it. You never know what’s going to happen. And of course I love Justin’s reactions and comments. This show is my daily smile. Love ya Justin!
That chorus hook with the key change is undeniable. Love the jazz interlude as well. P5!
i wanted to recommend this one but i didn’t think it would ever happen!Im so happy
Been lurking Skipper...but had to hit subscribe after this one. lol thank you for videos! esp thank you for all the guitar and music theory bits! Im a big fat new fan! been a fan of the Darkness since day one to be fair.
Damn, Justin. Periphery is in my top 5 favorite bands of all time. You have a long, awesome journey ahead of you if you decide to dive into their past, and upcoming, records. Wish I could erase my memory and become a fan of them all over again. Icarus Lives! Was life changing for me when I first saw it.
Well impressed with Periphery.. Huge dynamics and massively exciting band.. Some real musicianship in this. In re intro, I liked the little insouciant sounding twiddle at the end. 🎶🌟👍
Thank you sooo much Justin. You just made me discover them too. LOOOOOOOVE the jazz break.
Justin Fucking Hawkins Rides Againnnn 🕺🏽🎶🎶🎶
I’ll forever call it “dyent” now. Also super glad to see you finally react to Periphery. Would love to see you react to Arch Echo next.
ALL 👍👌thxs for riding again Justin
From Prescott AZ
Periphery have a vast library of amazing stuff for you to enjoy. They have not made a bad song. Love your analysis and commentary, and i hope you do some more periphery songs in the future!
Great reaction. really love this bands style, it's always refreshing. Songs worth checking out for their diversity to me would be 'It's only smiles' , 'Blood Eagle' & 'Reptile' which I love so much!
Justin Hawkins talking about Periphery, all I needed to watch today!
They’re sooo good! Can’t wait to see them in nashville this weekend!
I've done vox courses with that singer and even tho their not my thing I do give it to him. He has lifetimes of experience and great advice that was genuinely applicable he did seem like a kool dude.. he genuinely cared if someone could benefit from his efforts.
If you want a deep-ish cut, their dual album Juggernaut: Alpha/Omega had some of their best work. Omega (The song) has everything.
22 Faces will always be a favorite.
I always start my day with JHRA! Thank you, Justin!
During the interlude, the lights came on and everyone shook hands and commended each other in the pit. love that rose suit
this was fucking amazing to watch, definitly subscribed lmao
This band has such a diverse range of songs. Many people will recommend some of the fan favourites, which is fine, but I'm gonna recommend you listen to Lune. It is completely different from this one and an amazing track. Also much love to the fans that were moshing like crazy during Blood Eagle, to then collective cry their eyes out and scream all the ooh's and the aah's along of Lune when they were played back to back as an encore when I saw them.
I was one of these fans! Unforgettable night
Good example of why I love JH Rides Again!
He's quite varied in his tastes and knowledgeable across all genres. You never know what kind of review you're gonna get!! Love it Justin!! 🙏🏼🤘🏼❤️
Yes! I was really hoping you'd cover this!
I think it’s time for you to check out some Meshuggah…
@@davidvivar7811 Hell yeah, I'm a huge Meshuggah fan.
When my now 30 year old son got me listening to what his friends called Screamo back around the time this band was formed, I remember listening to A Day To Remember, Bullet For Pretty Boy, and some others that put out music similar to this. Then, it just seemed to die out in a few short years. Now, it appears the Phoenix has risen from the ashes and so Periphery appears to be leading it back. Thanks for the video Justin! Without you calling attention to this music I would have missed out on it.
I haven't got over your CZcams about Jinjer!!!! Haven't been that excited over a band since the Prodigy 30 odd years ago
Mr. Hawkins sir. Your a absolute legend. Love your content 🙏😊
I've been told to listen to this band for a few years now and just never really gave them a chance until recently. Been watching interviews with Rick Beato and Misha Mansoor and just loving understanding how these guys play guitar. Gonna have to check out Animals As Leaders too Justin, Tosin Abasi is genuinely some sort of wizard of the Djent genre.
Just what i needed… some soothing music to wind down with
Been really loving your channel lately. Long time fan of your vocals and so stoked to see you healthy & doing amazing! Much love 💚
P.s. just a little help, djent is pronounced just like "Gent".
11:00 am CST and I'm on CZcams like clockwork. Thanks for this show!
Dude, it did sound like "Mustache" the first time around! thanks for picking these guys out!
Because he loves the technical side, Justin should love PERIPHERY! Every member is a prodigy/generational talent at their individual instrument. Need more Periphery!
I got into Periphery through trying to learn more about polyrhythms and Matt Halpern’s name came up… mind blowing drumming
Djent does have a distinct sound and is widely believed to have been started by the Swedish band Meshuggah.
Misha has repeatedly said they are basically Meshuggah rip off... while this is an exegeration Meshuggah was the inspiration for Djent as we know it now
I absolutely adore Periphery! One of my favourite bands of all time!
I still say "My CZcams channel" after your intro in my head everytime I watch your videos.
I like that you read the comments before viewing, you get a good idea for what's ahead and good insight as to why the fans like the music. Whether people today like to admit it or not, Periphery has been a major component in the prog metal scene ever since they started.
That was an impressive headphone catch, I've fumbled that one a lot of times before.
Their first album is my favorite one of theirs, P2 is so dope as they had become closer as friends probably.
"Fuckin' hell!" Hahaha that folded me in half
I feel exactly the same! I only paid attention to this new album and wow it is incredible. The first three songs alone are breathtaking. Btw had two of you guys on my show back in 2006 here in Lisbon, I remember one of them was Dan. Lots of mucking about, good times
*them, the band members 😅
that vibrato was 🔥 Justin!
Saw them live with my bro at the Tabernacle in Atlanta with Dillinger Escape Plan years ago. They were fantastic live (so was DEP)
We met the singer while he was working the merch. Great down to earth guy.
LOVEEEE the jacket, or black leather shirt should I say - you look so rock ‘n roll!!! Love your channel 💕!!!
Throwing in a jazz moment without coming off like Spinal Tap. Well played.
😂loved the way your headphones fell off...says it all🤣
I would very much like someone to make a super-cut of every time Justin has said 'ouvre', 'timbre' and all the other high-viscosity French words he peppers this incredible channel with.
I think you mean poivres
Ooh la la Mon dieu
This song is on a whole different level very good stuff
Cant believe you havent heard of Periphery until now. Glad you dig em
Sick a vid on periphery 🤟🏻
I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE!! JUST TO THE RHYTHM OF MY HEART!
The Frenchman with the cig story had me fucking rolling! 😂😂
That opening is sick.
The day has arrived! YES Justin! Check them out more, phenomenal band.
Periphery have been my favorite band for quite a few years now. For anyone discovering them now, you're in for quite a ride going through their catalogue. Working backwards from Periphery IV: Hail Stan is what I'd recommend.
I loved this
my favourite band, cant wait for the new album
im actually so happy he did this
They are awesome. I love your reaction videos. Have you done any on Coheed and Cambria?
As it is the international hugging day, Hugs for you all!
Hugs to you too! 🥰🥰🥰
Brilliant
This is why they're my favorite band!
Dude, Justin, I am not a a musician, and a I know a lot of musicians have perfect pitch, but My God, you can dissect harmonic pitches and tunings. That's next level. I've dealt with multitone signals for test purposes and when there are multi tones, it's very hard for the, normal, brain to dissect the tonal components. Very impressive!
Dude this band is one of the new greats, all of there stuff is awesome
I think it's fun to watch your ass explore so many other bands and usually we are thinking the same thing even when you don't say it. But most of all I love that you always stay respectful and never bash anyone. Even when it's not your thing.
Hi Justin, I love this channel. Your varied and eclectic taste is music is a joy to behold. I was wondering if you have heard the new Obituary album as it was released last week and it's a banger. Keep the wonderful content coming. :) C
Thanks Colin! I'll have a listen!
Yes awesomeness, xx
Yeah, Periphery is always a musical journey. In one song you can be bludgeoned half to death and two seconds later you are fighting back tears from some beautiful melody with the most creative harmonies.
Anyway, you need to check out 12 Foot Ninja if you aren't familiar with them.
Loving your take on music, billy Joel u nutter😅😅... subscribed.....😊😊😊😊
You know it's good when you rock your headphones off!
Holy crap! Saxophone!?! Love it
best comedy-music channel in the planet. Thanx from Spain, Justin.
Imagine a Periphery song featuring Justin Hawkins on vocals? That track would be amazing!
My favourite band of all time ❤️ Thanks Justin. 🤘
(after The Darkness 😁👍)
Ugh😖. That is an auditory onslaught my brain and ears can't cope with. Those of you who can, bravo and enjoy. 🖖
Justin! This band has been one of my favorite and mainstay bands for the last 10 plus years. You need to check out Racecar from their first album, Scarlett from their second. The event from Juggernaut Alpha, which they used the theme of in this song during the chorus... Man I could go on forever but you get the deal. This band basically has no bad song
Periphery have been Habitual Line Steppers for well over a decade now. One of my all time favorite bands. I think Justin would really enjoy P2. Also, as many have already stated, Reptile from their last album Hail Stan is an absolute masterpiece. If you've been sleeping on Periphery, wake up immediately.
Charlie Murphy reference!
@@pigskinpoetry that is correct
I envy Justin. He's got a whole back catalogue of amazing albums to discover if he likes this.
