I have finally gotten the 1-9 series along with Rose. Reading them is such a treat, and hearing that the big man Jeff Smith is working with Netflix to bring these old images to life has brought more joy

Bone is the kind of thing I look for in both graphic novels, and books. An ongoing series that actually changes over time, as your reading it. I love things that start with the world seeming one way, and then completely changing everything you thought you knew about it.
bone will always have a special place in my brain and heart. I've read the series like 10 times.

Duuuude I remembered these from Jr High School as soon I saw characters not going to lie complete forgot what was the story about.
I actually talked to my dad about creating my favourite book series of all time into a mobile and how it might turn out.
Two problems immediately came up:
1. The art, the art in BONE is very interesting. It clearly works hard to make the cartoony Bones look natural and good in the detailed world. No budget of any Hollywood movie would ever be able to make the Bones look so great.
2. The voices, no one really knows about the voices part, whenever someone tried to create some, they always turn out terribly. While some may seem obvious and somewhat easy to recreate in your mind, your head kinda passes over the voices for characters like Fone Bone, no one really know what he could sound like, while you could try to make a middle aged man impression for him (I know that's what I would do), it still doesn't feel right.
I would REALLY alike a movie for this, but it would HAVE TO be a 2D animation for it to go well, 3D would look WRONG, and CGI won't help with live action, not to mention actors that would look like their characters.
This. This is by far the best comic series of all time.
Discovered Bone when I worked as a librarian years ago and loved it so much I bought my own copy of the omnibus edition published by Cartoon Books. When I'm describing the series to people who've never read it, I tell them to imagine a cross between Pogo and the Lord of the Rings.

Incredible children’s comic. The art is genuinely beautiful and it’s full of loveable characters who I still remember fondly (RIP Lucius). I should really re-read them.

My elementary schools library had the entire series of these books and I loved them. I can bearly remember anything about them or the plot but I remember I couldn't put em down.

With the proliferation of amazon shows and netflix shows, i think it would be totally possible to make a Bone 9 part miniseries, one book per episode. It takes about an hour to read each book, so I think it would work. Get a good animator, good cast, and slap it online. Everyone would be happy.

If you had to decide on how a BONE movie was gonna be made, would you choose:
Live action w/ visual effects? (like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings)
Mainly computer generated? (like Pixar or Dreamworks films)
Or hand drawn animation? (like Miyazaki films)

Hands down a hand drawn movie! Oh... uh no pun intended.
@Grillenheimer Yeah, when you put it like, then I'm totally down.The decline in 2D animation seems like a dying art. I think the visuals would be better, too.
@@Dumplin_Kaktus the new Mary Poppins sequel trailer I was real surprised to see some 2 D animation mixed in! It could be a decent movie... but with the computer work and CGI throwing in some 2D really adds a nice touch... and it could BE 3D and I just am not noticing it. Now when I saw the new Peanuts movie... I thought. ..ok. NOW we can have a CGI Bone movie! Because I thought the shading for the Peanuts were spot on and would be a perfect look for the Bone characters. But having them mix with real actors... I really do NOT want a Smurf tragedy with Bone. Either do all CGI characters or all 2D animation. A mix would not do well for Bone in my opinion. Though I could be wrong... we might be better than that Easter Bunny movie or Garfield by now... Peter Rabbit looked fairly convincing. Now I wouldn't be opposed to stop motion done as well as the Wallace & Grout characters. We could have our cartoony style and make it have amazing depth and animation. My daughter was born the month Curse of the Were Rabbit came out and I did not see it in theaters until years later during a kids summer special. And wow. It looked SO much better and so much depth compared to the home DVD or Blu Ray I've seen over and over...it was amazing on the big screen.
Grillenheimer you’re right. CGI or all 2D would be a LOT better. Live action Bone would look weird. Bone is pretty underrated. I might be saying this because nobody reads graphic novels anymore. But I want some more merchandise from the franchise, too. I hope it’s 2D, but it’ll most likely be live-action or CGI. I don’t think you could make bone like the peanuts movie. It’s very violent, and fast paced. Live-action most likely will happen because of the budget. But, they may put effort into it. They’re still developing the film as far as I’m concerned.

Why are they bones? In this world, is there like...Lung Land? Muscle Tissue Mountain? I don't mean to throw shade, but I've just been introduced to the series and I'm trying to wrap my head around it...
Elana Vital their species is just called " bones" but they aren't literally the bones in your body. Their just a race of little marshmallow Mickey Mouse people.
When Smith drew them, the characters literally resembled that of a walking, talking bone. But it's not like they belong to somebody's skeleton, that's just the name of their species.
