    How did you open the valves for lift when you tighten them. Did you spin the back tires in gear.

    I have a tick on my driver side that sounds very much like this. I have an all new valvetrain, minus the rocker arms. I’ve even tried three different sets of lifters so I’m starting to think it’s a rocker arm issue. I have factory LS3 rocker arms with CHE trunnions. Pretty much all of them have lateral movement when the valve is closed, which I though was normal, but my isolated tick is on cylinder 1. I think I’m gonna do BTR rockers with their V2 trunnion upgrade

    • @KidKevi
      @KidKevi  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Definitely go with an encapsulated needle bearing kit , the bronze bushings are garbage man !

      @@KidKevi yep apparently so. I have gold glitter in my oil so obviously the brass trunnions are already wearing down. I’m pretty sure the BTR v2 kit is a needle bearing kit. Idk if my lateral movement is normal or not and it’s on several rockers but the ticking noise I have is only on cylinder 1. Makes no sense at all!

      Definitely will be taking another look at it and I’ve noticed if I rev it up it’ll tick and when rpm’s come back down or I left my foot off I hear it in the valve train I thought maybe it’s the valve clearance between the valve and rocker

    • @KidKevi

      That sounds to me like piston slap , very common issue for Ls engines , especially the earlier renditions. Typically piston slap is not harmful and means your engine has more hp than a tighter one ;)

    Can you jiggle the rockers to test for play in any engine position or do the valves need to be in a certain part of their cycle? I know when torqueing the rocker arms, the valve has to be down/seated before you torque the rocker arm, but wasn't sure if giving them a wiggle was the same way.

    • @KidKevi
      @KidKevi  Před 4 měsíci

      A rocker will only wiggle at 0 lash , whenever you check pushrod length you go through this process man , always be sure to double check length in any engine build
