Yay! Was just about to turn off CZcams but saw you had posted. You are an auto click booktuber for me! I’m glad to hear you liked The Silent Companions! It just sounds so good. 💕💕💕
Excited for this Vlog. Look forward to these every month!! Going to go grab myself a cup of tea and then enjoy listening to what you thought of your reads this month.
I hope your cup of tea was excellent ;)
I also loved the hearts invisible furies , it was special to me! Thankyou Helene and I love zeus!
Where did you buy your sweaters? They’re beautiful!
Love you, Zeus, and the reading/life vlog Helene!
The Immortalists was a very beautifully written book. I loved the premise of it and I also gave it 4 stars. I'm going to try to get to The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne this month or maybe in November.
I second April's Yay! Another Helene and Zeus vlog...coffee included! I'm about 150 pages in the overstory and loving the parts with trees and nature, but I agree that the peoples stories are hard to follow. I like Patricia best...the quotes are pure poetry. I'm giving this to my best friend for her b-day who is a high school horticulture teacher, I know she'll love it. I also loved the John Boyne novel..it has stayed with me for months and I miss Cyril. For some reason angsty books about young men effect me more than about girls... Holden, Theo, Pony-boy & Johnny, and now Cyril!
Autumn is my favourite season too😍
I loved seeing you hold Zeus up - his giant paws 😍
Haha yeah, those pays (and his tail) are my favourite parts about him ;)
Also, your coffee and apple pie look and sound delicious. I love those so much. I am also trying to catch up on the show Elementary and Sherlock. Those and the Good Doctor are so cool.
Love your reading vlogs Helene. They always make me feel so cozy and inspired to read. I really want to try Hunting Prince Dracula and Stalking Jack the Ripper. Also, Zeus looked so big when you were holding him! So cute.
Zeus IS huge! He's about thrice the size of a normal cat :P
Autumn is my favorite season of the year to watch your reading vlogs!
I really enjoy your reading vlogs. I am a university librarian, but it's your channel that has inspired me to read more 📚♥️
What a compliment! Thanks :)
What a nice and cosy video.
that show blew my miiinnddddd the ending made me go aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ! it was so good!
Love thesd vlogs! 🖤
I have to say I really love your vlogs! Have picked up a few books you recommended. Thanks 😊
So glad you enjoyed the John Boyne book, it was my favourite read of last year. If you fancy something spooky/ gothic for October or Halloween time I heartily recommend his ghost story This House is Haunted. Meow to Zeus. 🐈💗
Hi Helene. How are you doing? I am so glad that you found a great show and some great books to read. I was actually able to purchase the Jack the Ripper trilogy, there is a third book, and I am going to try and read them maybe this fall and when I get done with the two books that I am listening to right now. I am just about done with reading/listening to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and I have also just started reading/listening to the third book in the Crown of Stars series by Kate Elliott, which is called the Burning Stone. I was also able to pick up an audio version of the book My Immoralist by Chloe Benjamin. I will have to let you know what I think of that one later. I also picked up the book the 7 and a half Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I also found another book that I think will have a bit of the same style of the Seven Husbands book but at the same time its different. The book is called the Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. Once I have read that one, I will have to let you know what it was like. Its funny how large my fall tbr pile is. Anyway, happy fall and I will talk to you soon. Julie
Hello from Virginia, USA. Just wanted you to know I so enjoy your videos. Keep 'em coming. :)
Thanks! I will :)
I really enjoyed The Silent Companions too! I do agree that some parts dragged on a bit though. I actually just started reading Laura Purcell's new book (just came out this month) The Corset which is also set in the Victorian era and is a more of a crime story.
I really want to read "The Corset" as well, but I think I'll save that one for next fall. Happy reading :)
So many great books for you in September. As a teacher in the states, I’m hesitant to pick up your opening read. I’m already so negative about the excessive state testing that I don’t need to add fuel to the fire. Could you tell me what page the quote from The Overstory was on? I wrote down so many quotes from that book, but somehow missed that one. I felt the same as you about all your thoughts on that book and need video my thoughts soon.
all D books Yes, definitely! The quote from “The Overstory” is on page 419. I also noted down a quote on the bottom of page 423 that I thought was interesting: it’s the text in italics about invisible trees 🙂🍁
Helene Jeppesen Thanks!
Count Zeus the Vampire Cat!
Vicki Cook I really want to see him in a cape for Halloween. Not sure if that’s weird or not, but I know he’d look so handsome!
lol, he'd be quite the dashing vampire cat in a cape but I don't think he'd ever forgive Helene if she subjected him to it.
Enjoyed the video, immensely. 👍🏽
You should try The Absolutist and A History of Loneliness by John Boyne also. I think he’s an amazing writer
Thanks! I'll add those to my TBR list immediately as I know want to read ALL of John Boyne's books :P
I wonder if this is a coincidence: "Stalking Jack the Ripper" and "Hunting Prince Dracula" and the other book or books in the series have a main character named Audrey Rose. When I was in high school in the 1970's there was a popular novel about a young girl being reincarnated and the book was called "Audrey Rose".
Oh really? Maybe it's a coincidence, or maybe the author knows of that book as well ;)
I have the mystery novel "In A Dry Season" (2000) by Peter Robinson in which a town called Hobbs End has been covered over by water after a dam has been built. In the excellent British 1966 science-fiction/supernatural movie "Quatermass and the Pit" ("Five Million Years to Earth" in the US) digging for a London subway in a street once called Hobbs End unearths a spaceship with creatures inside that may be Martian...or may be demonic. I think there may be a pattern here!
Do you like Orange is the New Black? I've been meaning to watch it but I haven't got around to it yet
I enjoyed it, but gradually less as the series moved on... :)
John Boyne has a new book out call A Ladder to the Sky. A character from the book you just read is in it.
Wow I didn't know that! I'll definitely have to look into that one ;) Thanks!
So glad you loved both Tana French and John Boyne. Are you going to read A Ladder to the Sky & Witch Elm.?
I only just now heard of "A Ladder to the Sky" which I've now added to my TBR. I'll be looking into "Witch Elm" as well, thanks ;)
Please read and review the book Bad Blood. It is excellent!
What do you teach? 😍
French and English at high school level :)
I visited Bran castle (dracula castle) and it has no dark corridors or is it scary,at all.
am here for your voice. pls post a weekly video...
Caution: there are sirens in this video. Just in case you’re watching this while driving like I was😂
Haha I apologoize!! :D
Helene Jeppesen haha you’re fine, it was really funny.
