I remember all those bookshelves! So beautiful! I commend you for a massive culling. Glad you kept those gorgeous Penguin hardback classic editions and Vintage anniversary soft covers. So glad you're back, Helene! ☺📚😃
Thanks for the tour, Helene! I hadn't realized how much you had downsized books and bookshelves. I like how your bookshelves aren't simply for storing books but are a place for special items and self-expression. I love to organize and arrange books.---Your whole apartment is an uncluttered, calm space that's a pleasure to see and that inspires me to make my own space less cluttered and more enjoyable.
Your shelves look wonderful and downsizing on books is not a bad thing at all especially if the amount of books cause stress. I have loved all of Shaun Bythell's books and am looking forward to seeing him possibly write another book. I am hoping to downside a bit soon as I know there are some books I own that don't hold as much interest. The Russian Vintage classics as well as the Penguin Classics are stunning!
Cut down on bookshelves! 🙉😢. I gave 300 books to a charity shop which I didn't need last year but my library continues to grow. Being at university has increased my obsession for books. My library now stands at 1500. My goal is 8000 before I retire.I do believe I have bibliomania but I can't stop buying. I think you need to visit the British Library and the Treasures room. Only then will you return to the Dark side. Love your videos. Stay safe and eat chocolate.
Yes 1Q84... I just finished reading it only yesterday and I think I will reread it in the future! Books are so expensive in Lebanon, so I take my time before spending money to buy each and every one and I can’t imagine getting rid of any of them!
I’ve started my reading journey into the Russian classics. Just finished Crime and Punishment a few days ago. Dostoevsky describes crushing poverty so well in this book. And I didn’t trip over the Russian names as much as I thought I would.
Can you do a video of some of the physical books you feel sentimental about? Maybe they were a gift, or the memory of buying them is special? I love how pared down your library is. It definitely inspires me to do the same, but I get really attached to some of my books!
I’m surprised you got rid of Lonesome Dove. Out of my current shelves I’ve decided if I move back to my country from Japan where I’m currently living Lonesome Dove is the only book I’d take back with me. (Even if I can easily rebuy it.)
oh my! I am horrified to watched this video of yours. its been 2 years now that I am watching your channel.I love to see your shelves full of books. But what make you cut down on your books so much? Love from NH USA
